"A Secret Cornish Summer" is another feel-good holiday read from Phillipa Ashley. The location is Hartstone Lighthouse cottages, somewhere in the far west of Cornwall. Eden has moved back to live with her mother after the failure of her marriage and is busy setting up a new business. Unexpectedly someone moves in next door, to the cottage which everyone thought was a holiday let. Levan is hiding one of the secrets of the title - his hush-hush job.

The story includes romance, redemption, a bit of mystery and family relationships. Difficult to put down.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book.

Eden appears to be living the dream running her own coffee business in the beautiful Cornish peninsular but she is unable to let her guard down since her ex husband lied and cheated leaving her with nothing including self confidence. She starts to think maybe things could be different when a handsome enigmatic stranger moves next door to her cottage but things are more complex than she imagines. Well written putting you in mind of the sea.

What a lovely feel good romance this was. Phillipa Ashley never disappoints. I loved the setting of this book, it evokes wonderful memories of holidays in Cornwall when I was younger. The main characters of Eden and Levan are well written, it is easy to empathize with Eden as she reveals things from her past and Levan is likeable but also has relatable flaws. Eden’s family are well rounded and enjoyable to read about.
I did enjoy reading this and I look forward to the author’s next book.

Cute book that lifted my heart. It has the perfect recipe of heartbreak, mild drama and uplifting narrative.
I felt quite immersed and it only took two days to complete because of this.
Fabulous form of simple escapism. Something that i would call a pallet cleanser in-between those more arduous reads!

Fabulous.

Definitely a page-turner for me. I was engrossed from the beginning and wanted to continue reading nonstop. I realized that I need to continue only when I had a chuck of time, since I knew it would be difficult to stop!

The plot is full of intrigue, family history, starting over and learning to trust again. It was very emotional to read.

The characters are fantastic, as always with a book written by Phillipa Ashley! I especially adore elderly people in books I read, so the inclusion of Iris as a main character was joyful. It was delightful to learn about lighthouses and the close-knit family that serviced them for years.

Since this a romance, I must say that the two destined for love are wonderfully suited for each other and I loved being on their journey to a happily ever after. Eden and Levan have a rocky road, but they can handle it and will come out at the end of the path stronger as one.

Thank you to Avon Books UK and NetGalley for allowing me to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

Philippa Ashley never disappoints, so I was excited to read her latest book, A Secret Cornish Summer!

The book covered interesting subjects, from coffee to lighthouses, and I even learnt a few things along the way. Unsurprisingly, it would make a great summer read with its Cornish setting and page-turning plot. There were some difficult issues, but these were handled gently and sensitively. The character of the grandmother really stood out and there were also plenty of laughs along the way.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and the publisher for a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a fabulous novel by Phillipa Ashley. This story was gripping and I found myself struggling to put the book down. I’d go so far to say this book was my favourite so far by this author.

Levan sounded idyllic and Eden was likeable. Also loved the Cornwall setting.

Would 100% recommend

There’s something familiar about Phillipa Ashley’s Cornish novels, whether it is the relationships or the idyllic locations or the real life situations that the characters all come across. Eden lives in Cornwall and meets her new neighbour upside down in his Speedos. Sparks start to fly between the pair, but like any true relationship there are secrets hidden in the cupboard that could change things forever.
It took me a little while to get into the story and fall in love with Levan and Eden and their story. But it was really interesting seeing how they developed as people and how they bonded due to other people and their influence. A great book for summer with a story that will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling.

A fabulous book, but make sure you have time to read it when you start - it's very difficult to put down!.
I loved the three generations of strong women who have supported each other come what may, and who welcome the new stranger into their lives, with just a feeling that he's one of the good ones. A great story of trust, circumstance, love and friendship.

This book has everything- romance, friendship, family love, a beautiful location and secrets.
Eden has come back home to Cornwall after divorcing her ex-husband Simon. Returning to live in one of the old lighthouse cottages with her mum. She has set up her own café in a container on a local holiday park and roasts her own ethically sourced beans in one of the rooms in the old lighthouse.
Having lunch with her granny after a morning of roasting beans they notice a man (Levan) in his speedos, on his head , in the garden next door. Built like a Greek god watching/spying on him through the fence might be sneaky but, definitely worth it.
They find out that Levan has bought the cottage so will be their new neighbour. Although very polite and friendly Eden finds it very strange that he hardly ever tells them anything about himself. As secrets and lies caused her marriage breakup she finds it very hard to trust anyway so his behaviour causes alarm bells for her.
With her friends help her business is getting busier by the day and helping to organise a surprise birthday party for her granny means she has very little spare time so, spending any of this precious time with Levan is something she needs to think about carefully. Will she give him a chance to get to know him better?
A fantastic holiday read.

Philippa Ashley, Cornwall and coffee, what more could you want? As always, I looked forward to reading one of Philippa's books and this on didnt disappoint. Eden lives in a lighthouse cottage but has her own coffee roasting business (could almost smell it at times!). Her lovely grandmother Iris is in a Care home nearby and their affection for each other was lovely to read. A young man, Levan, moves in next door and there is obviously more to him than meets the eye, very intriguing,
The affection and dynamics between the characters were so well described, and you could help liking each one.
Thanks to NetGalley for a review copy. I enjoyed the book very much.

I am always a big fan of all of Phillipa Ashley's books. I have read them all even the ones wrotten under a different name. They are always a joy to read and I look forward to them every summer and Christmas.

In this book we meet Eden who lives in gorgeous Cornwall. It is while stepping out of her house one day that she meets Levan a speedo-wearing, suntanned, yoga practicing, stranger who happens to be her new next door neighbour. However Eden has other things to worry about the break up of her marriage, And the start up of her new coffee business. Family secrets being revealed that make her question everything that she thought she ever knew about the ones that she loves Eden has sworn herself off all men.

But perhaps Levan is exactly the tonic that she needs to distract her and to help build a new life of love and romance and happily ever afters.

Another great read by Phillipa showing why she is the queen of romance.
