This one was not my favourite by this author. There were quite a few continuity errors which jarred but that could be down to not being fully edited.

The storyline was a little farfetched and none of the characters were particularly likeable. The main character was annoying with her 'i need more proof before confronting, when she already had concrete proof (again, there seemed to be a continuity error as to what proof she presented). However, the twists and turns were good, and I didn't see the ending coming.

I do enjoy reading this author so would definitely read others.

This started off slow and I didn’t like the ending either.
I couldn’t connect with any of the characters. The writing was also not to my taste

Harriet and Oliver seem to have the perfect marriage, perfect home and perfect children, but the personal view of their home life is much less perfect. Oliver works all the time which leaves Harriet to care for the children on her own since they also recently lost their nanny. The nanny's abrupt departure has left Harriet in a bind, but she also feels she lost her best friend. This is just on mystery of many. A missing child, little threatening notes, finding lipstick on your husband's collar and catching him in one lie after another make this thriller interesting and hard to put down. It started a little slow for me, but as I got further into the story, I was more drawn into the story as the mystery deepened. The identity of the mistress is quite the mystery and the twists at the end were quite shocking. Someone is definitely out to get Harriet, but you just do not know who until the very end.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me an advance copy.

Another great read from the author. Full of twists to keep you guessing. Fascinating characters to keep the plot ticking along nicely.

Honestly, this book bored me to death. I couldn't count how many times I yawned and rolled my eyes because of how ridiculous the characters are.

Every chapter dragged and I just wanted to get this over with. And the twist? Seriously?

Nope.

This book didn't blow my mind but it was a good read. I'm not a fan of different time lines so maybe it was just me. I would still recommend this book to others and I'm glad I read it, but it's not something I would go back and reread.

From the cover and the title I expected to get a chill, very middle-of-the-road thriller. A fun afternoon but not more than that.

But even with my expectations not being very high, this book just wasn’t it for me. It failed to intrigue me or to keep my attention. I wouldn’t say it was bad exactly, but there was nothing in it for me.

The whole thing starts when a child goes missing, and soon after the mother gets a threatening note. There’s already a lot of secrets going on around their house, with her husband cheating and her own mistakes from the past.

It sounds like it might be a fun time, but it was really a dull story with lots of repetition. I really wished we got more from the mistress’ perspective, it would have added a certain edge to the whole thing. I also have questions about the ending - certain things didn’t quite add up.

What I liked was that it was a very consumable story, easy to fly through. The book had its good moments, but the bottom line is it wasn't for me.

A huge thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the arc copy of The Mistress Next Door

Harriet and Oliver live in a safe neighborhood called Prospect Cove with their three children. One afternoon while at the park, their daughter Tilly goes missing. frantically searching Harriet is especially horrified because she feels like this is her past catching up with her. While in her teens while she was babysitting, she became involved in the tragic death of a child. Oliver is away on business and is impossible to reach, which scares Harriet because of his past affairs . Tilly is found safe, but now Harriet begins receiving notes from someone referring to her past and promises their going to take everything away from her, which includes her husband and children. She feels like it has to be one of the neighbors and as she looks she begins to feel like she can’t trust anyone, which includes her husband. Told in in two different points of view, Harriet both present day and in some flashbacks, and also by the “mistress” which is in present day who is behind the threats.

The Mistress Next Door by Lesly Sanderson is a riveting psychological thriller that will keep readers guessing until the very end. The story is narrated by three different women, each with their own secrets and motivations.

The novel revolves around the lives of two neighbors, Sarah and Lauren, who have been friends for years. The arrival of a new neighbor, Rachel, disrupts their peaceful lives, and they soon discover that Rachel is not who she appears to be. As the story unfolds, secrets are revealed, and the women's lives become entangled in a web of lies, deceit, and betrayal.

The author does an excellent job of building tension throughout the story, and the plot twists and turns keep the reader engaged until the very end. The characters are well-developed, and their motivations and actions are believable. The author also explores themes of jealousy, obsession, and revenge, adding depth to the story.

The Mistress Next Door is a well-written and engaging novel that will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers. The story is well-paced, and the characters are relatable and intriguing. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thrilling and suspenseful read.

Mystery, thriller, cheating. The book had a lot of good bones, but the dual timelines felt disjointed at times. While we know Harriet's husband Oliver is cheating on her, we dont know with who. The couples daughter is kidnapped and she begins to receive cryptic notes. But when her daughter is found, the notes continue. What could it be about? Something has happened in Harriet's past and perhaps it has come back to haunt her.

Although the plot felt slow at times and somewhat predictable, it is worth a read if you enjoy domestic thrillers of this sort.

Thank you Net Galley for the advanced copy of this book,

This book started off really strong but then it became slow. I didnt have that thrill factor . I also didnt connect with the husband and this influenced my rating.

Her husband is cheating on her, but with whom?
Harriet and Oliver have 3 young children, and live in an idyllic neighborhood. However, Oliver works long hours, and Harriet suspects the worst. When she overhears some gossip about a “mistress” living next door, her suspicions go wild.
Harriet is hiding as many secrets as her husband, and spiral out of control until the final, twisty ending!
This book was very good, well written, with interesting characters.

Oliver, my husband and the father of our three little girls, used to be my rock. But recently he’s been behaving strangely, staying out late, working weekends and emotionally absent even when home. Now as I clutch a receipt for a hotel room and champagne for two, hidden away in his coat pocket, I’m devastated. What else can I assume other than he’s cheating?

I’ve risked everything for the life I have now, a life that’s a million miles from… before. Not that Oliver would know anything about that. I would do anything to hold on to the perfect future I so dearly long for. A future that is now about to come crashing down.

Because Oliver’s cheating isn’t the only threat to my family. This morning I received an anonymous note. One that changes everything. The past isn’t just haunting me, it’s coming back to destroy me. It seems that someone in our close-knit community of Prospect Close knows my secret. Someone who’s willing to do whatever it takes to get their revenge. They’ve already stolen my husband. How much further will they go? And what can I do to stop them…?

This was a really enjoyable thriller! It has infidelity, a lot of secrets, and revenge. I was constantly trying to figure out who the mistress was and was wrong every time lol. Lots of characters to suspect in a close-knit community.
If you are looking for an easy page turner I’d definitely recommend this book!
