I tend to struggle with books that combine romance and mystery. I want the story to choose one because when both are present, I tend to feel like they’re competing. And I lose instead.

I think this book actually does both really well, in a playful and cute banter way.

My biggest issue, it’s fade to black and I had no idea! After so much build up, I just wanted more of a pay off.

Overall, this is a super fun, flirty romance/mystery that I recommend to fans of this combo!

Thank you so much to Avon and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of The Blond Identity! I loved Ally Carter’s Gallagher Girls series when I was younger, so I was the most excited about reading Ally Carter’s adult book!
The Blonde Identity 4/5 Stars
Summary from Goodreads: A fast-paced, hilarious road trip rom-com about a woman with amnesia who discovers she's the identical twin sister of a rogue spy... and must team up with a rugged, grumpy operative to stay alive.

It's the middle of the night in the middle of Paris and a woman just woke up with no memory.

She only knows three things for certain:

1. She has a splitting headache.

2. The hottest guy she has (probably) ever seen is standing over her, telling her to run.

And oh yeah...

3. People keep trying to kill her.

She doesn't know who. Or why. But when she sees footage of herself fighting off a dozen men there's only one explanation: obviously. . . she's a spy!

Except, according to Mr. Hot Guy, she's not. She's a spy's identical twin sister.

Too bad the only person who knows she's not the woman they're looking for is this very grouchy, very sexy, very secret agent who (reluctantly) agrees to help her disappear.

That's easier said than done when a criminal organization wants you dead and every intelligence service in the world wants you caught. Luckily, no one is looking for a pair of lovesick newlyweds on their honeymoon. And soon they're lying their way across Europe--dodging bullets and faking kisses as they race to unravel a deadly conspiracy and clear her sister's name.

But with every secret they uncover, the truth shifts, until she no longer knows who to trust: the twin she can't remember or the mysterious man she can't let herself forget...

The Blonde Identity was such a fun read! It was a quick, fast-paced, and I really liked Zoe and Sawyer as characters. I read this book a few months ago, and now as I write this review, I’m not actually sure of all of the details of the book- this book was more about the vibes than anything else, which let’s be real is what you want sometimes! I really enjoyed the fight scene at the end (I do remember that) and the fact that it was a spy thriller, but in book form! Overall, I thought this was a cute read and I know that I would love to read a book about Zoe’s sister if it comes out!

I had an absolute blast reading this book! It felt like every spy movie I've ever watched in the best way possible. It was action-packed, but I still got to know the characters and felt their romance was believable. Would this mission have gone right? Absolutely not. It didn't make a lot of sense. But I suspended my disbelief since I was having such a great time.

The writing style was engaging and the short chapters with the dual POV kept me wanting to read more.

Check CW because the MMC deals with PTSD/trauma dreams. I do wish this had been explained better.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-arc in exchange for my honest review.

A fun romcom adventure across Europe where you’ll find yourself laughing with every mishap. A woman wakes up in Paris with amnesia, only to discover she’s the twin of a spy and dangerous criminals think she’s her sister, so she needs to team up with a grumpy spy to stay alive and uncover the truth. The fast romance of the story felt pretty far fetched but it was a fun novel to unfold and laugh to.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC. This is out now.

This book was amazing! Some of my favorite movies are the Bourne series… and this book gives you all those vibes but with a comedic element!

My friend told me to read this one and I’m so glad I did. I devoured it so fast. The chemistry, the banter, the action, the bad guys… all works together brilliantly!

4 stars!

I laughed throughout the entirety of "The Blonde Identity" by Ally Carter. This book is fun, fast-paced, funny, exciting, and thrilling. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The characters are fantastic, the twists are great, the action is well-written, and I remained engaged from start to finish. I liked the ever-growing chemistry between the main characters, Zoe and Sawyer, as Zoe attempts to remember who she is after waking up, with amnesia, and being chased by Sawyer, who thinks she is her twin sister, Alex. Zoe turns out to be quite a capable main female lead despite not being an actual spy, and Sawyer is more than his sordid past. Ally Carter has made one heck of a punchy, engrossing romantic comedy espionage thriller. Loved! Please read this book!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon, Harper Voyager, and Ally Carter for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

Super fun and fluffy caper! Espionage! Mistaken identity! Amnesia! Romance! Non-stop action! Identical twins! With no memory of who she is after waking on the snowy streets of Paris, our protagonist falls in with Mr. Hot Spy... but nothing is as it seems. Bad guys pursue; fistfights explode; shootouts narrowly miss our heroes. Can our protagonist figure out who to trust in time to save her twin sister and Mr. Hot Spy?

As a middle school teacher, I loved Ally Carter's spy stories, so I was thrilled to see she is now doing adult spy sagas! This one was so much fun to read and I enjoyed living in the world she created. The only thing is that it did still feel a little like it was a young adult book instead of adult, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it.

I was very excited to read this book as a fan of Aly Carter's YA series. It was comedic and fun. The romance was cute and the plot twist was satisfying. However, the writing felt repetitive and fell a bit flat at times. Even though the book was pretty short, it felt like it could have been even shorter. Overall, it was fun but didn't quite meet my expectations.

As a fan of the Gallagher Girls books when I was younger, I am happy Ally Carter is moving into the adult category , she is so good at writing spy stories. This book was fast paced and fun with the perfect amount of romance, I loved every minute of it!

The beginning of this book was cute and enjoyable but it fell away quickly. I am not a fan of insta love stories and this was entirely too cheesy for me.

A fast paced action packed rom-com-everything I want in a book. One of the best fun action books I've read this year.

"The Blonde Identity" by Ally Carter takes readers on a thrilling and humorous ride through the streets of Paris and beyond. As the beloved author of the Gallagher Girls series, Carter successfully transitions to the adult genre with this fast-paced, action-packed rom-com.

The story kicks off with a bang when the protagonist wakes up in Paris with no memory, a splitting headache, and the enigmatic presence of a hot stranger urging her to flee from unknown assailants. From there, the plot races forward, blending elements of espionage, romance, and comedy seamlessly.

What sets this book apart is its clever twist on the spy genre. Instead of the typical spy-hero, readers are introduced to a heroine who discovers she's the identical twin sister of a rogue spy. This premise adds a unique layer to the story, filled with unexpected developments and witty banter.

One of the book's strongest aspects is its characters. The female lead, with her amnesia, is both vulnerable and resilient, making her instantly relatable. Her interactions with the rugged, grumpy operative are laced with chemistry and humor, keeping the readers engaged throughout their journey.

Ally Carter's writing style is crisp and engaging, making it easy to get lost in the story. The pacing is well-balanced, with a good mix of action sequences and romantic moments. The witty dialogue and clever one-liners add to the enjoyment, and the unfolding conspiracy keeps the reader guessing until the very end.

While "The Blonde Identity" is a delightful read, it does have a few minor flaws. Some readers may find certain plot twists predictable, and the book occasionally relies on familiar tropes of the rom-com genre. However, these minor issues don't significantly detract from the overall enjoyment of the story.

In conclusion, "The Blonde Identity" is a fantastic addition to the world of romantic comedy with a dash of espionage. Ally Carter's knack for creating engaging characters and her ability to infuse humor into an action-packed plot shine in this novel. It's a book that keeps you entertained from start to finish, and the chemistry between the characters is undeniable. While it may not break entirely new ground in the genre, it offers an enjoyable and engaging reading experience. Overall, "The Blonde Identity" deserves a solid 4-star rating for its humor, romance, and adrenaline-pumping adventure.

I absolutely love and adore Ms. Carter’ books. She writes them almost like a movie, and you can see each scene unfolding before you. This was the perfect spy romance, as it had everything I wanted and more. The plot is interesting, the characters are compelling, and the writing style is wonderful.
