What a Magical read this book is, a past secret, a beautiful Manor House and second chances for three people. Yes, there are two time lines but they work beautifully to pull you into the story. This is not just a romantic novel it follows the three main likeable characters who all have back stories and who add to each others lives. I loved this book so much and will be looking for other books by Kate Forster. I like her style of writing and the way she weaves the stories together and would give it more than five stars if I could
Emotional and heartfelt!
I have read a few Kate Forster's books, probably not as many as I should but hey, I'm slowly working my way through her catalogue. From the first book of hers, I read, I fell in love with her heartfelt and light writing, her books certainly grab hold of you and leave you feeling a whole host of mixed emotions.
This one is no different, from the charming title, and the incredibly pretty cover to the heart-tugging story, this book has it all and I can say this book will appeal to so many readers.
This isn't a rom/com this is what I call a 'proper emotional women fiction', where it's all about relationships and heartbreak, jammed packed full of all the emotions.
I loved the story, the drama the characters. It's got a little bit of a dual timeline element in that with Diana's part, we do slip back twenty years to see her in her teens. Some may think that slows don the story, but I think it enhances the overall story surrounding these people and having Diana's side written in the past answers a lot of the questions which arise through out and yes it also meant that we do guess what is happening, but it all comes together beautifully to create an engaging enjoyable story.
This is all about moving on, each of the characters have gone though heartbreak and this is their story on how they keep going forward.
Overall, a sweet about overcoming hurt, moving forward in life and knowing happiness is out there somewhere if you look hard enough!
Thanks Netgalley and the Publisher. Nice feel good cosy read, great storyline, great characters I really enjoyed it.
This was a lovely read, the descriptions on the house and the gardens were beautiful. Was lovely to see friends and family come together.
Sweet story about finding your people, who may or may not be your blood family. Sometimes losing people and "things" can help you find the things and people you need in life. I really enjoyed how the three separate character's stories tied together.
Thank you Netgalley and Arias & Aries for the ARC!
Moongate Manor manages to be a destination for bruised hearts and tired and hurt souls. Amanda is swept up and embraced by the local community and working in the garden gives her energy and purpose. There is clever story weaving as we feel for and fall for Amanda, Diana and Simon. A gentle, reassuring read.
This is a lovely gentle read based around friends, family, a lovely house and garden. A slow burning romance with a back story full of twists and turns in a delightful setting. Kate Forster at her best.
This is one of those sad but happy love stories. Told between three people. It worked well and the garden descriptions were lovely. The cruelty in 60’s over unmarried mothers is/was amazing. Even though I guessed what the outcome would be I loved it. A great read and ace ending
Let me start by saying that this is a dual-timeline book, which, if done well, works. This was not one of those times.
I chose this book based on the NetGalley blurb, which reads: Amanda Cox is living in New York with a non-committal boyfriend and a student loan that threatens to crush her. That is, until she enters a raffle for a manor house in the British countryside of Northumberland – and wins...
I was intrigued. I had visions of The Money Pit mixed in with Grand Designs and some romance.
Instead, I got a dual timeline with stiff, almost formal, writing, and characters that were not fully fleshed out. The relationship between the two main characters felt very rushed and was definitely an afterthought. Although pegged as a romance, this is more in line with women’s fiction.
The ending was predictable, and the book was cute enough for me to finish. I have not heard of this author before, perhaps this is a debut novel?
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this book in return for my honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the chance to read and review this book.
This was a cute read. The writing felt a little stiff and I had a hard time connecting with the characters, but I was pulled in and wanted to know where the story would lead.
I would have enjoyed a little more romance between our main characters - their "relationship" felt rushed.
I did enjoy the dual timeline, but wasn't a fan of the multiple perspectives in third-person point-of-view.
This was a cute second chance book. I really liked the main character and she gets this beautiful place in moongate manor with a garden, this guy comes along and is looking for a job so he becomes the gardener he has his own issues with his ex girlfriend he wants a fresh start so he goes to moongate manor as a gardener there. and there was mystery to it about diana. I loved diana and amanda, also how others come to help in this story. I recieved this book as a netgalley arc!
I would love to be flown to Moongate Manor!. Loved, loved, loved this book and I can't put on finger on why.
In a small English town Amanda finds her roots, both literally and figuratively. A community comes together to restore a garden, new friendships are created and there a small bit of romance in the air. just enough to make life interesting.
I'm so glad I read this in the dead of winter because I was getting the gardening bug and I don't garden! .
A feel good novel with a happy ending. A young woman wins a house in England in a lottery that her deceased mother had entered. Arriving there, she meets the woman who owns the house along with a young man with a troubled past who is working on the house's garden restoration. I thought that the book was predictable, especially the ending. I can understand why some readers would enjoy it but it is not a book that I will recommend.
This is a sweet story about Amanda, Simon, and Diana who all have experienced lost and grief, who decide to start over and find love and happiness along the way. It basically tells three stories that come together in the end. I just loved the connection between Diana and Amanda. Together they try to fix the garden and ask the help of the village gardening club.
Thank you to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for this Arc in exchange for my honest review.
This book has three points of view: Amanda, Simon and Diana. Amanda Cox is a New Yorker who wins a beautiful country house in Britain in a raffle. She finds out while cleaning out her house after the death of her mum and being sacked from her job. ‘What have you got to lose?’ asks her friend, so after some convincing she takes the plane to Great Britain.
Simon in the meantime is escaping his own horrors by traveling the country on a motorcycle after he finds out on his wedding day that his fiancée had an affair with his best friend and business partner. So of course he’s very angry and feels stupid for being duped by them both. Diana hired him as a gardener.
Diana is the elderly lady who used to own the house but decided to give up her house.
The book continues to jump from the present (Amanda, Simon) to the past (Diana in her teens), so it basically tells three stories, that all come together in the end. I guessed the reason for the addition Diana’s history pretty early on, and although some might find that it slowed down the story of Amanda and Simon, it adds another level to the book that most will find beautiful.
This is a lovely story about three people who all have lost someone, are hurt, but decide to start over and find love and happiness along the way.
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A sweet and funny story . Few days after her mothers death Amanda she is jobless and is evicted from her apartment and she discovers she won a house in England . With nothing to lose she goes to her new house near Newcastle . It a manor but she will have to take care of the garden . The owner of the manor is a older lady Diana who can't take care of the manor anymore so from now she will live in the gatehouse . While passing by the manor with his motorbile Simon he stops to look at the most beautiful manor he ever saw . The owner ask him to be her garderner for the next three months and he accepts . When Amanda arrives she is becoming friends with Diana and Simon . Together the young people try to fix the garden and ask the help of the village gardening club .
While working on the garden and also on their personal problems they come close and love finds them .
I just Loved the connection between Diana and Amanda .
I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
