I've been following Meg for years on Instagram and was so excited when she posted about writing her first book. It's everything I ever dreamed, I love her art style and the facial expressions in her comics and she is not afraid to talk about anything and everything. Really loved this one! Thanks to NetGalley for this arc!

Cute, relatable, quick read. A nice collection for couch gremlins like myself.

This is a quick, adorable and absolutely relatable read. It will make you giggle (and laugh out loud at times) but it's also thought provoking, which I really appreciate.

It's not super cohesive and in this sense it has more of a "web" comic vibe, but I truly appreciate the author's take on married life, fur babies, festivities and daily life in general.
I felt so understood in so many aspects of my life (from being obsessed with Halloween and fall candles to hating summer and dealing with my body imperfections in this season).

There are a few pages on mental health, anxiety and depression, which I found also super relatable. All in all a quick but super pleasant read!

ARC through Netgalley (thank you!)

At first, I was disappointed because I couldn't access the file. Now that I could and I read it, I'm glad I was able to. This is funny and beautiful. I wouldn't say this is outstanding humor but I dig it. It lives up to the title: a colorful book about a husband who is polar opposite of his wife, and then there's their two dogs: what's not to like about it. Thanks to Netgalley for this advanced reading copy.

An absolutely delightful book. For those who know of Adam’s comics, this is a lovely collection of comics in physical form, something many fans of online comics can love and look forward to owning. For those new to her, Why Are You Like This? is still an enjoyable collection filled with relatable humor that is both clever and funny without being dark or degrading. While some subjects could easily fall into both categories, Adam’s lighthearted perspective is one the modern world needs.

Just like all of Meg Adams' work, this book is laugh out loud hilarious with delightful art. Fans will adore it, and it's sure to bring new followers to the author's work. Highly recommended for adult collections, and for fans of Sarah's Scribbles and Kate Beaton.

This was hilarious! I follow meh Adams online and I was thrilled to read this book. I definitely related to almost all of the comic strips she wrote. Also the strips about mental health and being kinder yourself were very helpful and inspiring.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Why Are You Like This?: An ArtbyMoga Comic Collection by Meg Adams is currently scheduled for release on March 7 2023. Finally, comics that answer life’s most pressing questions: Is my partner actually upset or just hangry? Whose turn is it to remember the reusable shopping bags? Is it appropriate to put up Halloween décor two months in advance? (Spoiler alert: Yes. Yes, it is.) “Opposites attract” has never rung truer when it comes to vivacious extrovert Meg and her level-headed introvert husband, Carson. Carson makes his coffee with only the finest locally roasted beans; Meg microwaves two-day-old joe. Carson is reserved and rarely opens up to friends; Meg ensures everyone in her life—including her mailman—knows about her hemorrhoid. From the joys of marrying your best friend to the bizarre musings of a twelve-pound pup to the humor and heartbreak of anxiety, Meg’s all-too-relatable comics leave no stone unturned. Dorky and downright hilarious, this book explores what it means to make fun of oneself and find laughter in the little things.

Why Are You Like This? is a fun collection of short comics that explores life and the adulthood none of us were ready for (honestly- no one is ever ready). I have seen some of the artist's work before, so I already knew the style of artwork and humor before opening the book, and I was greeted by exactly what I was expecting. The book was funny and relatable, and the art style was consistent and heightened the intent and humor of each page. If you like the artist and their style this is a book you will enjoy. If you are an adult, new or otherwise, or pretending to be an adult there will be at least some aspects of this book you will relate to and find amusing.

“Self-care isn't always about what I want. Sometimes it's about what I need.”

A simple line but it hugs me dearly. A very cute and fun book to enjoy, the colors are vibrant and lively. An absolute treat for the tired eyes and the lonely soul.

I've always adored the ArtbyMoga comics, they reach into this very familiar place for me. I never feel quite so alone in my anxiety or in my love of Halloween when reading these. A glorious collection of comics that celebrates the highs and the lows being a millennial.

If you are looking for a laugh-out-loud comic collection that is nerdy and realistic in such a fun way, this will be the book for you.

The comics follow the everyday life of Meg and Caron, and their pets. Meg tends to be a little all over the place, thus the name of the collection and Carson is just living in her wake but loving her so much. The comics are about daily things, like the house, holidays, hobbies, and togetherness and it is adorable.

I really resonated with the buying of Halloween decor all the time, because we all know it is actually all year decor, and having a partner stare at you like you are insane for it.

The whole collection is funny, adorable, and real and I loved everything about it. Meg talks about marriage, pets, work, depression, anxiety, the weird, the normal, and crazy and she is nerdy and so great. I think this would be a great book for anyone that loves comics and webcomics and I feel like readers will live the realism of this.

I will be adding Meg to my 'keep an eye out for' list for sure.
Blog review live on March 2.

This was a cute, short book. It definitely had a web comic vibe to it that I enjoyed. I liked how expressively the characters were drawn even if the art style did become a little repetitive at times.

A cute book with great illustrations. Definitely had me laughing a few times. It didn't feel very cohesive though. Nonetheless a fun book to page through.

Content/Trigger Warnings: Depictions of mental illness, brief depictions of depression, brief mentions of anxiety

This was such a hilarious, fast paced, comic collection! I couldn't stop giggling and laughing, so much so that I disturbed my spouse while they were eating lunch. This is probably going to be one of my favorite comics of 2023 especially due to how much I related to so many panels in this collection. I will say, this comic collection has me wanting to read more. This was my first time reading anything by Meg Adams and I'm just going to say, new favorite author, hands down. I can't wait to read more Meg's work in the future!

Also, there's a plethora of BIPOC and queer side character, and the best part (in my opinion) is the plus size/fat and body positivity representation. I almost freaking cried seeing the younger to older mindset comparison over body image. That was probably one of my favorite panels that hit so close to my heart. If all of this hasn't pulled you in yet, if you're a lover of rainy days, Halloween goodness, love playing video games, and just appreciating the every day little things then I highly recommend picking this comic book up. It was just a fun, light hearted time!

Overall, this was a great read! I smiled, I giggled, my heart went all soft and mushy, this was just an all around lovely read. Again, I can't wait to read more by this author. It was such a fun time and I have no doubt any other collections from this author will be just as delightful!

Thank you Netgalley for letting me review this story. My opinions are entirely my own.

I have never felt as understood as Why are you Like This? Made me feel. I laughed more then I have in a long long time. Very relatable, especially in regards to the sun

I received an ARC of Why Are You Like This? from NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Meg's life and her interactions with her husband, her dogs, nature, and holidays made for a fun and quick read. The illustrations and colors were vivid and enticing. I could not look away from the Meg and her husband's character when they were in their "normal" mode and was entranced when there face structures would change, specifically the growing of the eyes and the nose going limp. It was fun to see Meg and her cast of characters dramatic changes in facial features and demeanor when "provoked."

I can in so many ways relate to Meg's battle with wanting spooky season all year round, except for that short period of time between November 1st and December 31st when Christmas needs to be up. That battle and wish/desire is relatable on a personal level!

I do wish that Meg's comics concerning her mental health were interspersed more throughout the book instead of seeming like an afterthought at the end of the book. I did not like how it was funny and relatable for 80%+ of the books and then plop! Lets end with the hard stuff. Still enjoyable, just would have hoped for mental health commentary and images intermingled more evenly throughout the book.

This was absolutely hilarious. I laughed out loud so much through this comic collection, especially because of how relatable it was—SO many panels made me think of myself and my spouse. 😂 I'd say you'll especially enjoy this if, like me (and Meg), you love rainy days, give zero fucks about decorum, and are obsessed with all things Halloween. 🎃 It may be February as I'm typing this review, but it's always October in my heart.

I found this to be a little lacking. While the humor spoke to me, being a married millennial myself, there was no consistency to the chosen panels. I would have much preferred if there was some type of structure to the text because then I would've had more buy-in, such as all the food comics together and all the affirmation ones together, etc. It just made this feel like a collectors piece of Meg Adams' work rather than a cohesive collection.
That being said, I did rather enjoy the little snippets. I found myself taking pictures of a few to send off to my husband and liked the distinct art style. You could see Adams personality in both the expression and style chosen for the comics as well as the chosen language used. I got a great understanding of who Meg and Carson both were and what their relationship is like. Not sure that I would recommend this to anyone, but it might be a fun book to share with a significant other if you find yourself in the humor.
