5 STARS for The Intern by Marni Mann
The Dalton Family Book 4

Narration for both characters is spot on ! This is definitely my type of book Hannah Dalton law student and intern ( member of the famous Dalton Family Law Firm ) - can she work with well know litigator , Declan Shaw as his intern ? Sparks , sizzling chemistry - combustible energy - will they or won’t they get involved even with high risks at stake one being both their hearts not to mention family pressures !

Loved this book as well as the series !

Highly recommend !

My favorite in the series so far! Filled with super hot tension and witty banter, Declan and Hannah were everything I've been hoping for and more.

I've loved every book in this series, and truly enjoyed watching the tropes unfold in this one. From their undeniable connection when they meet, to the heat coming off the page, I was captivated until the very end.

The plot was well thought out, and this was quite possibly the steamiest book Marni has written yet. If I could extend it so the storyline lasted me another month, it would still be over too soon.

I loved the spicy scenes they were so good. I wasn’t a fan of the insta love to be honest. I think maybe i just wasn’t in the mood for this type of book at the moment. But it definitely was an easy, fun read. I always enjoy books by this author and will continue reading her books. I recommend if you enjoy the insta love trope.

This is the fourth book in The Dalton Brothers Series. This is a series of interconnected stories. Declan and Hannah's story is complex, passionate, and hot! I liked this enemies-to-lovers and office romance. Savannah Peachwood and Lee Samuels did a great job bringing this story to life. I like this series! I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, a Macmillan Audio production, for an honest review.

2.5/5⭐
4/5🌶️

The narrators, Savannah Peachwood and Lee Samuels, did a wonderful job with this! I love when Dual POV books have two narrators! I listened to this at 1.75x for the most part.

If you want a lawyer/office romance with a major alphahole that is super steamy you will love this book. I personally wasn't a fan of the insta lust, I prefer just a little more build up tbh.

Dual POV, Alphahole, Office Romance, Enemies-to-Lovers, Forced Proximity

Thank you to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the Audio-ARC

I both read and listened to the audiobook. I have to say, Savannah Peachwood and Lee Samuels absolutely killed the audiobook - the emotion and tension was exquisite!! I can't wait for Camden's book next!!

I wanted to like this one, I read the single dad a few months ago and loved ford and was excited for Hannah to get her own story. But Declan ruined it for me, he was way to cocky and just obnoxious. Normally I love a bit of Jack ass in my MMC but he was over the top and honestly just abusing Hannah through most of this story and why she did take it good and stood up to him. She didn’t deserve half what he did to her. He is a new lawyer at Hannah’s family firm and Hannah just got an internship there and they sign her over to Declan to monitor but these two had a night together a few weeks ago and Declan didn’t know who Hannah was and when he finds out her family is the ones who run the firm and his best fiends her decides to be mean to her and do everything to get her reassigned. But this is what bothered me Hannah was a great at what she did and he acted like she was a spoiled brat who couldn’t do anything right to her and her family all because he didn’t like his feelings he had about her. And It did get better in the end which is why I’m giving it a 3. But even tho her started acting better and we got to know why he was the way he was it just didn’t make up for it. And the dirty talk was so cringey referring to her private’s as a C**T over and over.

Declan was firmly planted in bachelor life on the road to professional success at all costs. When the a freight train he never expected drove right into his life when he least expected it. The story of Declan and Hannah's love was delightful listen.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this.

I unfortunately did not enjoy this as much as I enjoyed the single dad. The characters were not likable to me, and it felt like too much smut to be considered a romance. I would rethink how this is categorized.

The physical scenes were fine, but there was far more plot in the previous book, and this did not match that level.

I was blown away. Honestly the pull between them just automatically starts off hot! I mean. Wowza. Declan is a lot of things.. but soft and sweet? Nah I don't think so. Or... maybe? As I said. The pull from the beginning was incredible but when the push starts too? Man the back and forth between them was enough to light off fireworks if they got too close!

I love Marni Mann books and this next book in the Dalton series didn't disappoint! A one night stand to taboo workplace romance, alphahole to sweet on her, and with tension, spice and banter = recipe for a great story. Do I think the main characters could've handled a certain situation better? Sure, but then the author would've had to come up with a different conflict/resolution, ha. Great read/listen!! The audio was phenomenal - great narration by Lee Samuels and Savannah Peachwood.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC!

“𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛, 𝘿𝙚𝙘𝙡𝙖𝙣.”
“𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂?”

Marni Mann is back with another scorching hawt installment in the Dalton family series! It the highly anticipated story of Hannah and Declan. From the bits shared previously, we know there’s some severely strong hate brewing between the two. Now in The Intern, we finally find out the why.

But, first things started off with a literal bang. Holy mother of everything that is panty melting sizzle, can Marni Mann write some hot AF scenes. I mean sheeesh, have your ice, fans, something for a cool down at the ready.

“𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦, 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘰𝘢𝘯, 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘯𝘢𝘪𝘭𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘣𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮.”

If there is one thing guaranteed to bring me to my knees, it is dirty talk. Let me tell you, Declan and that lethal weapon he calls a mouth delivered some of the most superior of dirty talk. Hannah wasn’t the only one salivating.

After a night that was both red-hot and a case of misunderstanding, these two are reunited in the last place they’d expect: the workplace. Declan was now Hannah’s boss. The one woman who wouldn’t leave his brain was now the last one he could have. Declan was a deliciously growly alphahole who took joy in making Hannah’s work days and nights miserable.

“𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩. 𝘼 𝙢𝙤𝙤𝙙. 𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥 𝙝𝙚𝙧.”

What loved about Hannah was that she did not take things lying down. She challenged Declan right back. Any chance to rile him up she took it. They had the heated verbal sparring down to perfection. That hate lust and sexual tension was stifling. The more time these two spent together, the harder it became to deny what they felt.

“𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘹𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘢𝘩.”

There’s nothing I love more than watching two enemies letting their walls down and letting each other in. Seeing that sweet romantic side of Declan? Cue all the swoon. This was a steamy page turner that consumed me from the moment I started.

Age-gap, enemies to lovers, a tad of forbidden…this story was my perfect kindle crack recipe and best believe I happily devoured it with every bit of enthusiasm.

Savannah Peachwood and Lee Samuels were the cherry on top with the narration. These two perfectly embodied Hannah and Declan!

For me personally, it wasn’t giving enemies to lovers.

Nonetheless I did enjoy the book and finished listening to it in almost one sitting.

There was a moment in where she told that one specific lie and I was forced to press pause and take a break. I do think she could’ve approached the whole situation differently but oh well.

Besides that lie, she really was sweet and caring. He, on the other hand was a proper asshole. But I liked to see him going from an asshole to having a soft spot for her.

But I was Ford who I liked the most. So I will be reading his book soon!

Also I’d give a solid 3,5 / 4 stars for the narrators

This was the first Marni Mann book I have listened to. The narrators were fantastic. The story was fantastic. I loved watching Hannah and Declan fight their desire for each other. I loved it so much that I went and read the first 3 books in the Dalton series. if you like fast paced, spicy reads, with nothing left to the imagination then The Intern is for you! Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this one!

This series has been so interesting ever since the very first book. I absolutely love that I have been able to listen to all of them via audiobook arc. My request for this was accepted after the release date which is why I didn't have it reviewed by then.

I absolutely loved that this story has a one night stand kind of start between the characters and then turns into a boss and subordinate kind of dynamic. If both are done really well I really enjoy those tropes, and within this story I think they were done well. I was so invested in wanting to know what was going to happen next and how it all was going to play out. I was hooked and never wanted to put it down.

Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this book.

OMG! This was not only an incredible book plot wise, but the spice?! Yes, please!! Marni really turned up the heat with The Intern and I am so here for it.

Hannah and Declan draw you in from the very beginning with their workplace romance and the taboo aspect of it, and Declan's alpha asshole attitude only contributes to the overall story in a positive way.

Book rating: 4.5
Narration: 3.5/5

I had a mixed reaction to this audiobook. It was very sexy/steamy. I liked the female lead and the secondary characters, but I had a bit of a hard time with the “alpha-hole.” I have read a lot of books whee the hero of the story has a lot of objectifying thoughts in his head, and I wonder - do men really think this way, or do women just think they do? I raised two boys and I would be horrified to learn that they had such an attitude toward women. It isn’t ok to harm a woman’s reputation in a professional environment just because someone is fighting an attraction. Lots of authors write male POV this way, and it always leaves me feeling a little cringy, but the characters always redeem themselves in the long run. For some reason, Declan seemed a bit worse, and I think it was because of the professional piece. The male narrator was a good fit for Declan’s character and the female narrator a good choice as well. This book is more about sex than relationship, though one does develop and Declan is also redeemed in the end. (I don’t really see that as a spoiler since romance novels have happy endings!) Some parts of Declan and Hannah’s story are really sweet and Hannah wasn’t perfect either. Declan’s internal struggle with a lie she told is what redeems him most for me, but he also deserved to sweat given his unjustified treatment of Hannah in the first half of the book. There was a lesson there as well as some karma for Declan. So overall, this wasn’t my favorite book, but still a decent one if you are into a$$hole heroes and super erotic stories. I am voluntarily submitting this review after listening to an advanced complementary copy of this audiobook.

If steamy, enemies-to-lovers workplace romances are your jam, then don't miss out on The Intern. Hannah and Declan have chemistry for days, from the moment they meet during a mock trial in one of her law school classes and have hot, steamy, alley-way $ex to the moment she realizes that he will be her mentor at her family's law firm.

Declan is as shocked to see Hannah as his intern as she is to see him as his mentor. He had no idea who she was the night that they hooked up, and she was ticked after he ghosted her. It's been a few weeks, but Declan hasn't been able to get Hannah out of his mind -- and working with her every day is going to be pure torture, so he naturally resorts to being a grouchy SOB. For her part, Hannah lies about the events that happened that night, setting the stage for a major conflict between them once things really get going. Will alphahole Declan fully let his walls down and let Hannah in? Will her omission be too much for Declan to handle or will these two litigators find a common ground?

The banter between Hannah and Declan is sharp and witty, and the storyline grabbed my attention from the start. I enjoyed the arc that each of them took in this story, and how they came to find a work/life balance.

UPDATE FOR AUDIO: Holy hell, Lee Samuels took Declan to a WHOLE new level!! His narration was phenomenal and along with Savannah Peachwood, Declan and Hannah were even hotter the second time around as I listened to these two vocal artists tell the tale.

The Intern is a standalone in the Dalton Family series and follows Hannah, the younger cousin of Dominic, Jenner, and Ford. Of course, there are plenty of appearances from her big cousins, and the timeline overlaps a bit with Ford's story, The Single Dad. I can't wait to see how this series finishes up with Hannah's twin, Camden, in The Bachelor.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

I was a fan of another one of the books in this series so when I saw that there was another book available to request, I jumped at it. I still need to go back to read the first two books in this series because this current book did not disappoint. I was expecting something hot and steamy and was not disappointed. I loved to listen to the audiobook so I could escape to another world while doing tedious chores and this helped me achieve my goal. Will definitely pick up the next book in this series when it comes out!
