HELL BENT immediately thrusts the reader right back into the fray with Alex, Dawes, Turner, and Mercy as they try to save Darlington. Bardugo continues to develop a world filled with magic, hidden mysteries, and monsters in our reality as well as in other realms. The Alex Stern series continues to deliver action-packed moments, honest exchanges between friends, and more investigation into the occult.
With an expert ability to dive into the nitty-gritty of the darker side of the supernatural, the author gifts her readers with perfectly imperfect characters and impossibly difficult situations with uncertain outcomes. I love Alex with all her baggage. As a reader, it is refreshing to have characters like the ones gracing these pages because they are real. There are fears, flaws, and true emotions bubbling up.
Here is the only problem I have. The end leaves you wanting more. There is still a story that needs to be finished. I need to know what is going to happen to these people, and though there is a book three, I don’t know when it will be released. Ugh! Book nerd problems. So I will patiently sit waiting for news.
