What a thrilling rollercoaster of a ride! This book will definitely leave you on the edge of your seat!!!
I am breathless! The book bounces about from sub section to sub section really quickly and kept me hooked. From a chapter, to a paragraph the stories plumets forward and kept me hooked all the way. A bit mad, a bit horror and a bit kindness - a really brilliant tale that keeps you guessing.
This is one continuous thrill ride. It’s a taught sci-fi thriller, and a bit horror to a lesser degree. If you’re looking for a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, read this one.
People start to drop dead inexplicably on a transoceanic flight that’s thousands of miles from land. A flight attendant calls the cockpit and gets radio silence. Eden is a pilot in the cabin with the passengers. When she finally gets the cockpit door open, it’s too late. No one’s flying, and the jet is already doomed. Other reviewers say this would make a great movie. I couldn’t agree more. Hollywood, take note.
Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton.
This was a rare combination of a plot-driven story and a character-driven story.
Eden must pilot a plane across the ocean with the help of an air marshal who had a secret crush on her. The author understandably spent little time on that. Some form of danger was threatening the passengers and trying to crash the aircraft in the ocean at all times. Or it was trying to kill the last person onboard who could fly. Two scientists onboard were escorting a dangerous animal that got free and attacked passengers on the main deck, sending them into the much smaller upper deck.
The air marshal shot it multiple times. It backfired in a horrible way he couldn’t have imagined. If they kill it, they all die. But Eden thinks of a way to stop it, but there are too many people in the upper deck for it to work. They get another setback and more bad news.
If you want a story that is intriguing and has endless surprises, read this book.
I did enjoy this book but I also had really high hopes that I don't think were met ... don't get me wrong it was a great read but I did struggle in some areas and felt my mind wandering at times and then had to re-read certain bits as I was not paying much attention. Found it hard to press on and finish it but I did overall I liked the book but never loved it enough to read in one setting and found myself at times wanting to read other books I had.
This is one of those times were i feel i movie adaption would be better than the book the story is there the excitement but the book just left me bored.
A great thriller about people who refuse to give up when their chances of survival is dwindling by the second. A plane load of passengers flying over the ocean, no one’s flying the aircraft, a genetically altered animal from your worst nightmare.
What can go wrong?
Everything.
This was a fun, light, fast read for a rainy afternoon. Sometimes you need to read something that it's deeply involving. I finished in one sitting. We've met these characters before, their actions wasn't surprising. The situation was unusual; but that's okay, cause it was just what I needed. There was a couple of slow down moments and moments of unbelievable, but given the synopsis it was understandable.

One of the most exciting books of 2022 and 2023 so far, and I am a prolific reader. My taste generally don't include science fiction, but this book makes me want to venture deeper into that genre. It's a great thriller to the core. Non-stop thrills and chills. You may not want to read it on a flight. I can't wait to read the next book by this author.
I wasn’t able to get into this book. The sci-fi element threw me off and the writing was awkward. It almost seemed like I was starting to read a bad YA novel.
If you're looking for an edge of your seat thriller, this is a great choice. It’s an unapologetic action packed book with unexpected twists galore, no fluff, and no soft stuff. It made me care about the characters then kept tugging at my heart by putting them in constant danger.
An unexplained illness sweeps through the aircraft. An animal with genetic alterations breaks out of a cage in the cargo hold and attacks, and I never knew what the creature was going to do next. The aircraft is sinking toward the ocean. The engines are shutting down. They’re running out of options.
The ending was one of the best I have ever read. Because I don’t want to reveal any spoilers, let me simply say that I could actually feel my heart racing.
The synopsis of this book was really promising, I tried to read this and push through a couple of times because of it but sadly I can't find myself to finish it.
Nowhere to Land is a fast-paced horror/action thriller that reads like a 1980s monster movie, with an intriguing if nonsensical premise. It’s a quick read but it failed to grip me completely, due to the predictability of the plot and cheesy stereotyped characters.
A pair of mad scientists have created a terrifying new creature, and now want to transport it to a nefarious research base in South Africa. Quentin Kane is one of the air marshals charged with keeping the passengers safe, and Eden Stone is making her first flight as a commercial co-pilot after an accident derailed her navy career. They are midway across the Atlantic when things start to go very wrong - a fulminant disease starts killing people, a storm is brewing, and in the cargo hold, the beast has awoken…
I love action movies, but this tries to fit every single trope and cliche in - a grieving widower, a beautiful badass pilot, a cute but precocious child, a repugnant politician, even a dog - and pretty much everything that can go wrong on a plane does. It was all just a bit much, and it became rapidly apparent that the author was not willing to sacrifice any characters we might care about. The monster was OTT ridiculous - why would anyone willingly create such an uncontrollably dangerous beast, and the medical aspects were equally silly. The writing is full of strange made-up words and expressions eg “tickle your nickel” is used by the hero three times, and sounds ridiculous each time, coming from a tough guy. Overall it’s not a bad read if you’re after brain dead escapism - but I don’t recommend reading it on a long distance flight!
Thanks to NetGalley and Yorkinton for the post-publication review copy. I am posting this honest review voluntarily. Nowhere to Land is available now.
The contained setting of a plane made this thriller even more nail-biting. The tension remained throughout the book, building up and up. This book made me very anxious, in a great way! It felt like watching a movie as every emotion was heightened. A great read!
Ever since I read this book, I have been obsessed with finding out more about human hibernation, and YES! THAT IS REAL!
So is getting water to boil at room temperature and still feel cold to the touch.
These factual nuggets sprinkled here and there are some of the many things that make this book brilliant.
One of the most exciting books I've read in a long time, and I read a lot. It's one of those rare books, especially lately, that speaks to adults on an intellectual level. It mixes a little bit of science in the science fiction element. If you want a thriller that doesn't talk down to you as a reader, this book is for you.
It straddles multiple genres. It's a thriller, a sci-fi, and action-adventure. The main characters have their own inner conflict in addition to fighting to survive the different threats that are constantly trying to kill them. The pilot is struggling to get the plane across the Atlantic Ocean and to find land.
Thank you NetGalley. Thank you Yorkintton
A mash-up between "Miracle on the Hudson" and Jurassic Park.
The little-known science facts sprinkled throughout also make the book Intellectually stimulating. I bet I wasn't the only one who didn't know you could get water to boil at room temperature.
I really loved the pacing and snappy dialogue of this one. Twists and turns that kept coming. A plane load of people with very little chance of surviving.
Thank you Netgalley and Yorkinton
This book was entertaining! Not my usual cup of tea it has to be said.
The book took the format of a science fiction b-movie. I often recalled “The Thing” while reading this book.
Wait for the film of this book It will be spectacular!!
I wanted to love this one as I loved the premise. However I found the writing style wasn’t for me, and meant I struggled through the first four chapters before saying I wasn’t able to continue.
On a positive note, what I read felt wel researched but too much jargon and I think that might have been part of the problem for me!
I think this will be up sci fi addicts Street though.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My heart was in my throat before the flight from hell even took off. It was a fight for survival, and I mean a FIGHT. I kept thinking that there was no way Eden, the pilot, and Quentin, the air marshal, can save the passengers or themselves from any of these dangers. They had a genetic creature trying to break through to the passengers, a storm of the century they were forced to fly through, people dropping dead with the same mysterious symptoms, an aircraft flying over the ocean that they know can’t reach land. There was always the question whether the last pilot would survive.
The pilot and air marshal came up with a hail-Mary plan to save some of the passengers, but it created the risk of certain death for the rest.
There were great supporting characters like Hercules, a rock-star that became Quentin’s right-hand-man when facing imminent death. Rona, a three-year old girl who’s a tough cookie herself. And some unsavory ones like the senator.
The scene where Eden had to land a fighter jet on the deck of an aircraft carrier at night is one of the most intense scenes I have ever read. I now have even greater respect for our military and how well they’re trained.
I know we have strong female protagonists, but give me more bad-to-the-bone females like Eden.
Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton.
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.
The language and terminology had me a little lost at times. I'm a hardcore thriller lover but found the sci-fi part outweighed the thrilling aspects of the story. I didn't love it but it was by no means a bad book and the author obviously did her research thoroughly.
I had never heard of this author before. Now I can’t wait for her next book. She knows how to pull the reader in and never let go. If you like a story that’s intelligent, intriguing and fast-paced, you’ll love this one. I read other reviews that said this would make a great movie. I agree. It is rip-roaring action throughout. It’s also a story with deep characters. I loved how the author wove science facts into this science fiction story.
