With thanks to Netgalley and the author
Sadly this book was a could not finish. I couldn't make it past page 2
I hadn't seen this book anywhere but Netgalley so I figured I would give it a crack! Expecting it to be more like Falling, which I loved, I was not expecting to read a book much more like Snakes on a Plane! In fact, I'm still not sure if I could explain exactly what the creature was that haunts the passengers on this flight. While there were some really intriguing elements of character development in this book, unfortunately, they weren't enough to hold the action sequences of this book together for me. I'm grateful to Netgalley and Teretha Houston for the opportunity to read and review this book!
This book was not what I was expecting. It was way more sci-fi then the synopsis led on. It wasn't at all what i wanted to read, but then it got it's CLAWS into me, and I couldn't put it down.
It was fast paced and I enjoyed that. But there were quite a few words in the novel that I had to go look up, and they weren't actual words, more like local slang. When i have to go look up a word that takes me out of the story and I didn't enjoy that. The other problem I had was there were too many characters, I couldn't keep track of them all.
But I enjoyed the read It was kinda like snakes on a plane and the island of Dr. Moreau. Id read the author again.
The premise was interesting but the writing did not suit my taste. I think some other readers might enjoy the book but it wasn't for me. thank you for the arc!
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This books is far fetched and fast paced which in my opinion is the perfect combination!!
This is my first time trying this author but after this I'm super keen for more!!
This flight is non-stop action that starts even before lift-off. I have to admit that when I got about 1/3 of the way into the story, I thought this story had to end there - too much had already happened and too many people had already died - what more could be in store for this crew? Well, that is when the story really took off! There were great characters, of both good and bad metal. Sure, it's a fantastical tale, but it is one that keeps its claws in you and doesn't let you go. Thoroughly engaging!
If ever there was a book that should be turned into a movie, this would be the one. There’s nothing more exciting on the big screen than mad scientists, escaped monsters, impaired pilots and several hundred people together at 35,000 feet and have mayhem let loose.
Starting in Chapter1, Kane, an air marshal with sharp detection skills, is aware early on that something is amiss on this flight, the plane takes off and so does the story: fast and furious.
The physical description of the beast sets up a penetrating mental image of what is roaming the aisles but I also appreciated the intricate account of landing a fighter jet on a naval carrier in rocking seas with an impaired plane.
My big question for the author would be who she modeled the character Rona after. She is a three year old who has the wherewithal to crawl under the seats to hide, has monster evading skills, doesn’t cry for her mom but still can’t pronounce words correctly. That’s not the usual MO for a 3 year old……adults in the story didn’t display those skills.
The ending, while explosive, would have been better served allowing the reader to imagine the savage having had an outcome which left questions in the readers minds.
This book follows an airline marshal and a pilot as they board a transatlantic flight. The flight
becomes a nightmare when a creature is found on board. I was on edge the entire book and it kept my attention well. However, I just don't really enjoy science fiction. I also feel like I needed a background in airplane technology, which I don't have. The book description felt semi misleading because it didn't mention some, mysterious monster. I felt like it reminded me of Jurassic Park as well. I didn't hate the book but I also didn't love it.
Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton.
Anyone who loves fast-paced thrillers and characters you can't help but fall in love with (including the dogs), this one's for you. Here’s a flight that’s thousands of miles from land. People start to die with scary symptoms. No one knows why. A dangerous mutated animal has escaped a cage in the cargo. There’s no way the jet can make it across the ocean. I wouldn’t want to be on this flight.
Thank you NetGalley and Yorkinton for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After reading the synopsis of this book I was SO excited to dive into it. And I think I made it halfway before giving up and throwing in the towel. I didn't connect with either of the characters, everything was jumbled and something just felt off about the whole thing. I was hoping that this would be a page turner for me but it was a flop, which was disappointing.
Maybe one day I'll try and circle back to see if the ending got better but for now, I think I'll just leave this one in my DNF pile.
I couldn’t put this book down. My pulse raced to the end. When Eden was forced to make a life and death decision, it was an intense situation. I don’t think I took a breath when Quentin and Rona were down on the first deck. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author. It would make a great movie.
Nowhere to land is a true thriller in every sense of the word. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. There wasn’t a moment when the passengers on the flight weren’t in danger. The tension started quickly and kept getting stronger until it reached an end I could never have guessed.
This book won me over somehow. The first 50 pages I really wanted to stop. No idea what was happening, some internal monologue was corny. But I kept with it and there was a nice tense payoff at the end.
Unfortunately the cheesy dialogue, internal monologue continued but other than that was a fine read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
This was just the kind of mindless action packed nonsense I needed right now. Snakes on a Plane meets Turbulence. Air Marshall Quintin Kane has his hands full. If keeping a plane of unruly passengers in line while a genetically modified creature runs rampage through the aisles isn't enough, why not add a plane running out of fuel and only one surviving pilot who might not be able to make it to the runway before she succumbs to the creatures venom into the mix. This was a wild ride but I didn't love it.
Unusually, this was too fast paced. There were too many characters and at times I couldn't keep up with who was who and who was dead or alive. Also the descriptions of the creature where too wild. I thought I could picture it but then it would quite literally grow a new appendage or change its size and I was lost again. I wasn't a fan of the writing style, which included 'words' such as 'kerflooey' or 'disastrophe' or 'muckadoo'. And if I hear 'tickle your nickel' one more time...
Overall, this was a decent creature feature and a lot of fun.
**I received a free copy via Netgalley.
This is a very high octane thriller a mysterious box a strange woman in a wheelchair a plane ride and forgotten memories these are just a few of the unknown entities that the ex-cop detective came is trying to put together he will get help from a female pilot who is bad ass and my new hero. I loved this book and highly recommend it I am not usually one for adventure thrillers dealing with planes national security who won a book is good it is hard to put down. I received this book from NetGalley and the author but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
Teretha is the queen of Deep Point of View writing style. She writes convincingly from the point of view and unique voice of different characters,
I chose to read this book because it had a female pilot. I was pleasantly surprised to get much more. We need more books with tough-as-steel women who will stop at nothing, even willing to sacrifice their own lives to save others.
Three-year-old Rona is another tough female. She had me on the edge of my seat with tears rolling down my eyes.
This was a rip-roaring thriller that had everything. I'm not a fan of books that are slow burns. If you feel the same way, you'll love this book. There are no slow parts.
Quentin tries to keep the passengers safe from an animal that has escaped the cargo hold. He has a not-so-secret crush on Eden.
Until this book, I haven't seen anyone explain the science behind how some people stowe away in airplane well bays in subzero temperatures and survive. The author sprinkled in science to take the scenes up to another level.
One great example, the scene where water begins to boil at room temperature is one of the most riveting scenes in history. Quentin and Rona are in a three-way death trap.
What sets this book apart are the author's ability to write convincingly from the point of view of different characters, the use of science facts in science fiction, and just enough pilot lingo for the reader to follow what Eden is going through.
I had to DNF this book, tried to get into it but didn't draw me in. Wasn't keen on the writing style, the plot sounded good but just wasn't for me
Unfortunately I have DNF'd this book.
I was interested in the plot but I just couldn't get past the dialogue and internal monologue.
I can still see the appeal of it but I just don't think that this book is for me.
I would still recommend this to people that enjoy the genre however.
Not my kind of book, id like to think that its too far fetched, but who knows after covid! a happy ending is always nice and drop in a bit of romance and its job done!
I just couldn’t get this book to work for me.
I loved the premise and I thought it could be something great but I was left disappointed.
The descriptions were so confusing that I found trying to picture the main ‘beast’ almost impossible.
Muddled and a bit of a let down.
