I loved the beginning and overall thought it was super cute. Blooming romance, passion, and a heartbreaking story all in one. It wasn’t original but it was a book I didn’t want to put down.
Thanks netgalley for the arc!
Ama Torres loves being a wedding planner. But with a mother that has been married many times, she has decided that marriage isn't for her. However, as a wedding planner, she loves to give her clients their dream wedding. Elliot ends up with his father's flower shop and he keeps up with it. When Ama is hired to plan a celebrity wedding, Elliot is contracted to design the flowers. The exes have to work together in front of the cameras. Will their hearts be on the line again?
I enjoyed the wedding planning part of this book. I liked all the descriptions of the decorations and the locations, as well as all the flowers. I especially liked the floral dance floor on the roof. I truly felt like I could see it in front of me! I also enjoyed the flashbacks to Ama and Elliot's past relationship. They seemed cute. However, in the present, I felt like they lacked a lot. Especially Ama. I felt like she didn't treat Elliot very nicely and he deserved better. They was hardly any scenes of them spending time together, so their relationship didn't make sense to me. I would have like more plot development between them. Overall this book was okay for me.
I should not have slept on this story! The chemistry between the two leads (so tension filled too!) is so great.
Ama is an amazing wedding planner (though I could tell from the get go that her mentor didn't think so). She also has a mother that has been married more times than anyone I've ever heard of (kind of sad when you think of it).
Elliot is an incredible designer with flowers. He has such a beautiful vision. He's also super grumpy and always scowls but that's part of his charm.
I love the then/now storyline we get for them. We get insight into why there is so much animosity/uncomfortableness with them. I absolutely loved when he stepped up when she needed him most and I'm so glad she had that confrontation with her mentor!
Second Chance romance is not one of my favourite romance tropes but I really enjoyed Forget Me Not by Julie Soto! Ama and Elliot work in the wedding industry and reconnect on a big upcoming wedding. The angst, the flashbacks, the yearning was everything I wanted and needed. I could not put this book down and highly recommend trying her out if you are fans of Ali Hazelwood, Emily Henry or Jessica Joyce.
This was a super cute contemporary romance! The push-and-pull between these characters kept me hooked. The chemistry was fabulous, and the setting made the second-chance elements even better! I look forward to more by this author!
I absolutely loved this 2nd chance romance. Beautifully told from both perspectives and the past and present. Highly recommend!
Somehow I didn’t review this one on my feed or include it in my top romances of last year and that is a huge fail on my part.
I just reread this on audio which I enjoyed even more (hi Teddy Hamilton 🤤).
This is a second chance romance at its finest.
I will read any book about the wedding industry, and this one was SO good. It was so fun to follow a wedding planner and florist plan a high stakes wedding.
The dial timeline was unique with all of Elliott’s POV chapters being from the past - I LOVED hearing their origin story from his POV.
Also loved: the flower references, super steamy, the storyline of Ama’s mom, how deeply and obviously Elliott loved Ama.
This was a really good adult novel with fantastic main characters and a great romance!
I received an e-ARC from the publisher
DNF @ 30 percent. I get it’s a second chance sitch, but there’s so much baggage and flash backs to the past.
The MMC is not for me either - straight up rude vs just a grump.
I wanted but couldn’t get into this one
- Second Chance
- Wedding Planner & Florist
- Grumpy/Sunshine
- Debut Novel
- Dual Timeline
Let me start off by saying I 1000% judged this book by the cover and I am so glad that I did. I am obsessed with it. The colors, the illustrated couple, THE WAY THEY LOOK AT ONE ANOTHER…it’s just gorgeous.
Anyway, I am a total sucker when it comes to a grumpy MMC and Elliot sure delivers. Ama was the complete opposite, always wanting to make everybody happy and give them their dream weddings. I thought this book was super cute and I really enjoyed reading it. I look forward to reading another book by Julie Soto in the future.

Ama is a wedding planner in the early stages of growing her business. She lands a big high profile wedding and in the process has to work with the florist, Elliot, who she has a romantic past with.
Oh I absolutely loved this book! It could have something to do with the fact that I love all things wedding design and I do flowers for weddings as an occasional side hustle so I really enjoyed the topic of the book. Also, Elliot was the perfect grumpy MMC. He was so amazing and I just loved his character. Ama was driven even though she could be a little naive at times and I liked how she interacted with the brides whose wedding she was planning. This story alternated timelines from present day planning of the wedding to flash backs of Ama and Elliot’s previous relationship. And let’s just say, their previous relationship was spicy! As all romances should, this one has a HEA and I was so happy to see it all come together and work out in the end. A definite must read for any romance lover.
Finally got around to reading this popular romance from last year, and it was... okay. Truly just okay, but okay in the way of it was fine, and I kind of could love it, but something just bothers me about it. A solid three star read: I don't feel any better for reading it, but I didn't hate that I read it nor feel like I lost any time by sitting down to read it.
However, this story does have some elements that I will always champion in books (hence, why I *could* love it): no third-act breakup and second-chance romance. The book slowly tells the story of what went wrong, while running concurrently to our FMC's hectic life. It's a smooth ride, but suffers a bit from pacing issues. While there is no third-act breakup, we are kind of thrust into the resolution when really it could have just building more and more steam. In that sense, this book felt like cooking something in an instant pot- you get the same delicious meal but are sort of robbed of the cooking time/process.
The premise was great- realistic, simple, no inane conflicts or schemes. Served as a great vehicle for the love lost romance between our FMC and MMC. However, and maybe I've read too much Mariana Zapata, but I felt like it could have built infinitesimally slower. A MZ book, where nothing and everything happens (aka there was too much sex in this).
I'm glad it was popular, as it is a good read for anyone looking for a fun and uncomplicated rom com, who also loves no-third act breakups and second-chance romance. However, forgive me for wanting more.
I spent most of my time reading this book squealing and kicking my feet 😍 this book was a perfect second chance romance from the banter to the character development, I couldn’t have asked for more!
I loved how the timelines jumped between the POV of the two main characters, it made me feel so connected to them, it was almost like my best friends finding their perfect match 😂 The evil rival wedding planner subplot felt unnecessary but I appreciated that it moved things in the right direction somewhat, it was just a bit chaotic.
The overall vibes of this book felt like watching my favourite romcom movie, I can’t wait to read more by this author! I highly recommend if you’re looking for a sweet romance!
Read this if you:
- Love a mashup of different romance tropes
- Have ever pined for years over someone you can’t have
- Are obsessed with weddings and happily-ever-afters
Though Ama loves being a wedding planner, after her mother’s 16 marriages, she’s decided that it might not be for her. When she falls in love with Elliot and isn’t able to offer him the commitment he’s looking for, the two go their separate ways. Years later when a high profile client insists on having Elliot do her wedding flowers, the two must learn to put their heartbreak aside to work together.
This book is very popular, but I didn’t like it as much as everyone else seems to. I didn’t find Eliot brooding and mysterious – I mostly found him rude and I couldn’t tell that he even really liked Ama until very far into the book. I also didn’t feel much chemistry between the characters and their relationship felt underdeveloped.
This was a quick read and it was entertaining, but I didn’t love it overall!
I loved this! Second chance romances, if done well, can just be SO good. This was one of them. I think the author's use of the MMC's POV for the past and the FMC for the present was a masterstroke. It made for such compelling story-telling. I found myself rooting for these two incredibly hard. Their romance is just so swoonworthy and the spicy scenes are done really well. Basically, this has everything a romance reader could want and I love that for me!
First of all, a hot architect who also owns a flower shop is on my list of things I would love to see in person. Secondly, I loved seeing Ama and Elliot bloom the second time around. I loved how the past chapters were told from the male POV and the present chapters were told from the female POV. I don't normally love second-chance romance, but honestly, this book just checked all my boxes.
I saw rave reviews for "Forget Me Not" by so many people who I tend to have similar taste as, but after reading it myself, I really just want to forget about it.
I didn't really care for either MC and while I do enjoy a bit of past/present timeline, I just really didn't like the story or their relationship in the slightest.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Even though this induced Adam Driver nightmares, I could not stop thinking about this book. It disrupts the typical romance formula in a wonderful way. The characters are interesting and I couldn't help rooting for them. A must read for romance readers, and an author to keep an eye out for!
Solid spicy sweet romance. Loved the characters even though some of their decisions were a little immature. I was just along for the ride. The spicy scenes were fantastic. Loved the wedding planner angle and you couldn't help but cheer on the main characters.
This book was PHENOMENAL. I gobbled it up in two days. It was a nice fast pace and the pining between the two main characters was amazing. I loved the Dual POV from different times in their life, working backwards and forwards. Highly recommend this book.
