Songs of Vice is a fast-paced, mutli-POV fantasy that delves into the world of the fae and includes romance, friendship, royalty, betrayal, secrets, and lies. The story centers around Sai and his team, as they prepare for their most daring heist yet. Lira, a brave but naive siren, finds herself caught up with Sai's group after running away from her mother. I really enjoyed each of the POVs and felt that I was able to truly get to know all of the characters, even those without POV chapters. The romance in the book can be described as "instalove," but it was hinted that there may be more to it than that. I wish more time was spent on the actual heist; however, with that said, I still really enjoyed the book and am excited for the sequel.
Fans of ACOTAR and Heist trope step forward.
The book begins with a decision that Lira absolutely has to make, she wants to escape from her mother's cruelty and from what she wants to impose on her: find a man to charm, have a daughter and then kill him.
This is how mermaids behave, but not our protagonist, she believes in a more balanced world and absolutely wants to get away from magic.
For this reason, when by chance she spots a thief in the crowd of the court where she is, she doesn't think twice about offering him a deal, to be accompanied to the nearest city in exchange for something.
And this is how Lira's journey begins but not in the way she imagines, the thief whose name is Sai, has a job proposal for her.
Aid him and his squad on a suicide mission to rescue the prince of the unseelie court -or rather the court of the Prasanna- and the reward may keep Lira living longer in anonymity than she could ever hope for.
But you know, things don't always go as planned and between a new world to discover, monsters, plot twists, a romantic attraction, a group of friends and a heist to carry out, Lira will discover things about herself and her world she never imagined.
But who can she really trust?
โค๏ธWhat I liked about this book:
๐ Sliding writing, simple but not trivial
๐ The topics discussed
๐ The setting: if we talk about the seelie court, I'm here
๐ The inclusiveness of this book
๐ Side characters
๐ THE END
๐What I disliked about this book:
๐ INSTALOVE: unfortunately for me this loses many points, I love slowburn and even though I know the two of them are something more, I can't make myself like it
๐Lira and Sai: I didn't see the chemistry I was looking for in them and I'm sorry they haven't been thoroughly explored ( for my personal taste I would have liked more)
๐ It all happens too quickly
I finished the book in a couple of hours because I found it quite enjoyable and I'm sure those who love these themes will appreciate it much more than me.
The love story between the two protagonists influenced my judgment and the things I didn't like particularly affect my line of thought.
However, I recommend it especially to those who want to approach this type of magical system for the first time.
I loved the ending, great cliffhanger.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I rarely give 5 stars but this one is definitely a 5 stars read! The book is good! I couldnโt stop reading it and I really canโt wait to read the next book! The twist at the end was perfect and I didnโt see it coming, I canโt wait to see what happens in the next book! The world budling is amazing and easy to navigate. I loved all the characters and the multiple POV made the buildup of the story better and you get attached to every characters.
3.25/5 stars! Both the premise and the cover of this book had me hooked. I also love heist stories, so I was really excited to read this book. The story, once it got going, was fast-paced and enjoyable. But, it took the first 40% of the story to really get anywhere. Once the pace picked up, I liked it, but I wish that had happened sooner. I'm also not a huge fan of instantaneous love, so that part was hard for me to root for. Overall a fun heist story, that could use some pacing improvement moving forwards.
I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Lira has until the blood moon to escape her motherโs cruel siren troupe.
Attempting to flee, she gets mixed up with a handsome stranger set on a dangerous mission to reclaim stolen magic.
A heist that pays enough gold to disappear with.
Overall I believe this book had a great storyline and solid foundation.
A siren getting mixed in with a band of thieves who arenโt exactly who they claim to be is a great way to get my attention. So much of this book worked really well and the world building starts off strong.
It got a little confusing when scenes would switch suddenly or different characters popped up seemingly out of nowhere.
I loved the representation in it! And I felt like it was done in such an organic way and not just to check some boxes or for shock value.
OMG!!!
I have to say this is my favourite so far this year and I truly cannot wait for the rest!
Lira wants out of her motherโs thumb and will do anything for it! Including running away with the one who was supposed to be her mark of the night! Because if this Lira finds herself in the middle of a world she almost knows nothing of it and Sai will show her.
This book is awesome, there are fae, sirens, romance, betrayal, a heist and a plot twist you wonโt see coming!
I truly cannot wait for book 2!

Oh my goodness. I have devoured this read, the characters and world. I am desperate for the next book in this series - I donโt physically or emotionally think Iโm able to wait. I didnโt know how much I needed books about sirens in my life.
Lira is the daughter of a siren leader desperate to get away from her motherโs evil powers. She does not want to be the heir or take her waning powers so she decides to run away. The man she lured with her siren song gives her the perfect escape. He is on a mission to steal something from the Seelie King and her powers would absolutely help him do this. However, they have an undeniable connection and for Lira it becomes more than a means of escape. That is, until she finds out his truth.
I absolutely adored this world. From the beginning, I was fully immersed in the cast of characters. I loved them all - even the side characters. The multi-POVs made this book. Each character had their own voice and back story that I wanted to discover. There was clear LGBTQ representation throughout the story, from same sex relationships to non-binary characters, and it was done so brilliantly.
Being a relatively new fantasy enjoyer, Iโm still learning the different magical groups and I absolutely loved every minute of learning the siren ways. With Lira having been kept in the dark all of her life, I felt like I was learning alongside her which made her even more likeable to me! The romance element in this was sweet and I canโt wait to see it developed further throughout the rest of the series. And that final twist ๐ฑ
Overall, this was an outstanding read. I enjoyed every minute and want to engrave the pages to my memory. I am counting down the days until the next book in this series is released. Lira and Sai - you have my heart โค๏ธ (and Lennox)

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
"Only sirens had weapons so cloying. We were like carnivorous plants, beautiful and enchanting the moment before we ended a life."
Lira is a soft-spoken, gentle woman desperate to escape her scheming mother. She's also a siren who grew up among humans with no knowledge of the rest of the fae world. Now her mother is forcing her to accept a heady responsibility: find a man to impregnate her, kill him, and hand over the child to her mother to raise as the heir to her power.
Heart too kind to complete her task, Lira convinces a stranger named Sai to help her escape into the next town. Sai and his crew aren't what they seem, and Lira soon finds herself deep in fae politics and intrigue.
Songs of Vice grabbed my attention from the first page and never let it go. I'm not usually a fan of multiple POVs, but the author handled it well and it work for the story rather than bog it down. Seeing through the eyes of four different characters allowed the reader to learn more about the world without the author info-dumping page upon page of exposition.
My favorite part of the book, though, was the depth of the side characters. Prince Lennox deserves his own story. He was kind and charming and you can tell there are so many things he wish he would have done differently. Margo has a wealth of potential, and I can see her joining Sai's crew who were each engaging and propelled the plot.
The one jarring part of the novel was having Lira think about Luz's character as "they" before ever meeting them. It completely took me out of my revelry and made me reread the page over and over. I couldn't tell if Luz was a particular type of fae who was always referred to as "they," if multiple characters had entered the scene, or if was a character who preferred to be referred to in that way and how Lira would have known to do so.
Even with that small issue, I would highly recommend Songs of Vice to all lovers of fantasy novels. It's a quick read with notes of romance and suspense, and I look forward to reading more books with these characters!
I absolutely adored this story! I found myself laughing, and crying right along with the Characters.
Lira is so easy to fall in love with. Her clueless naive nature makes her adorable but I'm hoping in the future we get to see more of her firey side that we saw her give her mother at the gala.
Sia is perfectly written! Honestly I felt like I was part of the team reading this story! Especially in the jail scenes. Nicole nailed it!
This book is a MUST READ for anyone who loves fantasy with some romance. If you find yourself needing a good laugh or even a warm hug, this book is for you. The found family dynamic warmed my heart. Having them all come from different places, different stories and backgrounds was brilliant. I truly cannot wait for book #2 in this series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. (via Netgalley)
Overall, I enjoyed this. It moved at a fast pace and the end really picked up. (THAT ENDING THOUGH!!!!) Not a huge fan of the instalove/attraction but it kind of evened out for me as the book went on. Liked the variety of characters.
I received the arc of this book and this is an honest review based on my experience reading Songs of Vice. This review has also been uploaded to goodreads, amazon and tiktok.
I'm rating it 4 stars and the only reason it isn't higher is because i believe there could of been more world building throughout the story apart from that i found this book to be an enjoyable read. It comes with a map which i feel ever fantasy book should have as it adds to the overall experience.
The book revolves around a group of fae planning and executing a heist and coming across a siren trying to escape her mother and their traditions. Without giving to much away it's got portions of slow burn romance and a scene we all love of a room with only one bed available (oh no!). It includes a very diverse cast of characters ranging from POC, Asian heritage, non-binary and more. It also shows a side into a lesbian relationship which isn't accepted outside of their home and for this reason there are trigger warnings at the beginning of the book.
I feel this book was well written and very easy to read. The story was simple enough to follow but not simple enough for you to lose interest half way through. It was a nice break from the all action all the time fantasy's that i've read in the past. I highly recommend reading this and im actively awaiting the next.
Thanks Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. This was such a fun book. Lira, a siren, wants to get out from under the clutches of her mother. To do see she must bare a child. The man she tries to lure into helping with that turns out to be fae but Sai might just be the answer she needs. What follows is an exciting tale of heists and adventures! Songs of Vice had quick pacing and kept me hooked! And the twist at the end, mind blown! Great fantasy book!
It's a good, romantic, casual fantasy read!
If you are looking for a book with easy plot to follow, a band of misfits, a runaway heiress, mysterious guy who is not who he admits he is, and magic magic magic... try this one!
Songs of Vice follows a siren, Lira, who escapes the clutches of her not-very-nice mother and ends up with mysterious conman Sai and his group of magical misfits. She ends up agreeing to help them steal magical items from the Seelie king, and Lire has to navigate the fae realm which she has never been apart of before, despite being a siren with magical abilities. What I liked about this book is the amount of diversity in it, Sai is from a heritage similar to Indian, one of the main characters is lesbian and thereโs an important queer person as well. I also enjoyed that Lira is a siren, Iโve only ever read one siren book before and it feels fun and new. The book is told from four PoV, which is a matter of taste if you prefer or not. I usually donโt like several PoV, especially when it switches too often which I think happened in this book. Thereโs also a insta love element which isnโt my best trope. I love slow burns, the slower the better.
Despite that the book started with quite a long bit about triggers I would say itโs a fairly sweet read.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked from the very beginning and couldnโt put it down. Itโs a 5/5 star read! This book was amazing it had everything, sirens, fae, magic, a heist, romance and so much more. This is book one in The Sirenโs Call series and I canโt wait for the next book and to read the rest of the series. Thank you to Netgalley, Victory Editing and Nicole Bailey for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book.

One thing I liked about this book was how so much was going on, it was fast over but it wasnโt like TOO fast!
We had:
โ

โ

โ

NEIA!!
Lirasei (can we talk about how beautiful the names of these characters are because omg); a siren; meets Sai and his friends at the Seelie Fae Palace. She needs help getting away from her controlling mother. (This book reminded me a lot of Princess of Souls, which was one of my favourites from last year, so if you enjoyed that, I would definitely recommend Songs of Vice).
