I received a complimentary copy and this review is completely my own,
Lynette Eason has done it again, I enjoyed this book of action and intrigue.
I enjoyed the story and the characters.
This book was good, if a bit predictable. That’s the thing with Eason. Even when some plot points are predictable to me, I still find myself completely hooked and wanting to read more. There’s just something about her writing that I absolutely love.
I loved that a flight paramedic was a leading person. It was especially interesting that this character was hiding from a stalker yet needing to help someone related to the guy. What a twist!
I liked the U.S. Marshal character, but I was so sucked in by him that I forgot to take notes of why I liked him. Let’s assume it was his chivalrous traits, as that seems to be pretty regular for Eason’s heroes.
The lake scene was one of my favorites. Action, surprises, and near hypothermia… What’s not to love?
The big “shocker” I saw coming from the very first hint about it.
I disagree that smart TVs are “awesome.” In reality, they are spy machines that track the daily activities of U.S. citizens without permission. No thank you!
Do officers really chat (as in, small-talk) while clearing a house? I found this strange.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book.
Content: premarital living together (mentioned), unwed pregnancy (mentioned), alcohol, replacement expletive in epilogue
Countdown by Lynette Eason is a thrilling contemporary Christian suspense that I just could not put down. It is the fourth book in the Extreme Measures series but can be read as a stand-alone.
Once again, Lynette Eason has crafted a well thought out and executed plotline that has the reader glued and guessing as we try to join the dots. The action comes thick and fast as the past collides with the present.
All our choices have consequences, sometimes with far reaching effects. “She … wished she could go back in time to make different decisions.” We cannot alter the past but we can learn from our poor choices.
There is the theme of trust. Life has dealt some hard blows. A character prefers to trust no one but herself, not even God – but living life in isolation can be very lonely. She realizes she has to “consciously make the choice to trust God.” We can trust God with our lives. He will never let us down. Even when we don’t see Him working or feel His presence, God is there, walking beside us.
Fear has kept a heart locked up. Everyone a character has loved, has been hurt or killed. To protect her loved ones, she keeps everyone at arms length as she practices sacrificial love again and again.
There are times when fear has threatened to ruin lives. If we trust God, we know that we can ‘do it afraid.’ “True courage. Facing what you want to run from.” We see many instances of characters facing their fears in order to protect the innocent.
Guilt over what has been said or not said, done or not done, can ruin lives. We need to forgive the face in the mirror as well as forgiving others. Forgiveness is not a one-off event. “It’s a process. Some days forgiveness comes easier.” We must forgive others or bitterness will eat us up.
The best place to be is right at the centre of God’s heart. “It’s where God planted me, so it’s where I am blooming.” If we follow God’s plan for our lives, we will be just where we are meant to be. We bloom best when we are safe and secure in His arms, sometimes despite outward circumstances.
Prayer is important. When life is good – pray. When life is bad – pray. Prayer is communication with God that builds relationship. If God tells you to pray for someone – just do it! Sometimes others are needing our prayers. It may be their lifeline. “Her prayers alone have sustained me.”
We see faithfulness in action within the novel. Characters walk with God and trust His leading, even when life appears to be crumbling and is making no sense.
An air of love wafts over Countdown. We see many instances of love motivating actions within the novel. In contrast we see lives consumed by the pursuit of power. The love of wealth and power is a road that will ultimately lead to a downfall sooner or later.
Countdown was an exciting read. I think it would make a marvellous television series.
I always enjoy Lynette Eason’s novels – they are faith-filled stories with ‘real’ characters facing ‘real’ dilemmas and situations.
Countdown was an edge of your seat suspense that I read in just two sittings – pausing only to sleep.
I received a free copy from the publishers. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.
I love this author and all her books. They are all suspense mystery but they are all written so differently that I am never bored. She doesn't feel cookie cutter writing to me but instead I get invested in the different mysteries, the differences in the characters and the great storylines. I feel as though I'm in the story and not simply reading a great book. Another great book by a great author.
You Will Feel the Ticking of a Clock!
This was jam packed full of action and the need to figure things out. My heart raced a few times and I was completely absorbed in this book. I felt it was important to read the other 3 books to stay in the know…
Audiobook: Read by Sara Sheckells. Sara narrated this in a way that allowed me to immerse myself in the book.
I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
Perfectly intense and wonderful conclusion to the series. Well, maybe not long enough, since I read it in less than a day and now I'm waiting for the next Lynette book again. I loved seeing Raina get her happy ending and the race to save an endangered teen boy was very much a nail biter. Normally I can guess the ending of Lynette's books since I've read over 60 of them, but there were some serious twists I didn't see coming in this one. Fun read!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.
I thank the Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! The opinions in this review are entirely my own.
This was a good book, albeit not my favorite in the series. At times, I felt the plot was too unrealistic. The writing was great, though, as usual.
The final book in the Extreme Measures series gives readers a fantastic ending to a fun and explosive series!
Raina Price has been working as a flight paramedic as she tries to run from her past. She changed her name and left everyone she loved to try and keep them safe. She had spent time in juvie and met several friends who she now works with and would do anything to help her. Raina loves to help people but is always looking over her shoulder for the stalker that almost took her life. US Marshal Vincent Corelli ends up helping Raina through a strange turn of events and quickly falls for her and promises to do anything and everything he can to keep her safe. She tells him about her past and together they work to solve the mystery of who is after her and stop them from hurting anyone else.
The Extreme Measures series from Lynette Eason is one of her very best, the writing is superb and the way the characters find themselves in danger and work through it will suck readers in. The suspense and danger the characters found themselves in was top notch, the romance aspect flowed beautifully, and I felt completely connected with the characters and what they were going through. I often find myself bored with romantic suspense and the way the stories can all end up the same, but Lynette Eason is an exception to this because her writing is so well done and the way she puts these characters in situations that make the reader care for them but also finds the reader on the edge of their seat is amazing. This was a fantastic edition to the series, and I am sad to see it come to an end. I recommend this to readers of romantic suspense, even though it is the fourth in the series it could be read as a standalone.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
I have enjoyed several of author, Lynette Eason's books, and I was definitely not disappointed in this fourth book in her Extreme Measures series, Countdown. There are plenty of twists and turns as readers follow flight paramedic Raina's desperate attempts to keep a 13-year-old boy safe. What a suspenseful story! The author kept me guessing as to whether or not one of the characters was even alive. The way she reveals the past layer by layer keeps the interest high. Readers who enjoy thriller stories with romance threaded throughout will not want to miss Countdown. I listened to a library copy of the audiobook and was given a complimentary copy of the book through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions are my own. Sara Sheckells did a great job narrating Vince and Raina's story which made for an entertaining listening experience.
Yikes! Lynette Eason hits us yet again with a creepy page turner! This one kept me reading into the late hours of the night - with the light on. I loved Raina and Vincent's chemistry and the romance was very sweet. The mystery kept me on my toes with disorienting twists and turns and nailbiting climax. Eason never misses!
Another great book by Lynette Eason. Full of suspense and twists and turns. I couldn't put it down. A great conclusion to the series.
If you love a good thriller this one is for you. I couldn't put it down. Amazing read with just the right amount of romance.

Netgalley and Revell sent me a copy of Countdown for review:
There is no need to look any further if you want a book that holds on and doesn't let go:
It's hard for flight paramedic Raina Price to stop running. In order to escape a dangerous stalker, she changed her name and disappeared, building a new life with a friend from juvie. Saving people's lives feels good, but because her stalker has never been found, she never stops looking over her shoulder. Before the past finally catches up, one can only run so far.
The US Marshal's job is to hunt down fugitives and protect those under his care. He vows to protect Raina at all costs, whether it's his job or not. Together, they solve Raina's past mystery. However, someone is out to make sure Raina doesn't live long enough.
I give Countdown five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
I hate to see a series end but the good thing about this one is that it was captivating all the way through. I enjoyed getting to know each of the friends and looked forward to each of the stories as they unfolded.
Book four centers on Raina Price who is a flight paramedic. Like the others before her she has a past that intertwines with her friends. Danger follows her but so far she and her secret have been able to stay a step ahead. That is until this time.
Raina meets Vincent Covelli, a US Marshal, at one of the most frightening times of her life. He has nothing to do with her case but takes it upon himself to become her protector. The attraction between the two is palpable.
I don't think I have a favorite in this series because they all were so good. But this last book was thrilling to read. The storyline was fast and intense. The romance was swoon worthy. What more could you ask for? Lynette Eason has delivered another amazing series. The one consolation about this being the last book of the series is a new series is surely in the works. Count me in on whatever it is.
I highly recommend Countdown if you enjoy Romantic Suspense. Technically there are enough details filled in that you can read this book as a stand alone. But why would you? Treat yourself and read the whole series!
I didn't start this series from the beginning, I started with book #3 and knew I wanted to read the next one in the series. Raina is a flight paramedic and seems to be great at handling the pressures of the job. So why would a news story about an Olympic hopeful set a woman with nerves of steel on edge?
This is a great romantic suspense! I was immediately invested in the storyline and wondered what Raina's secret could possibly be to put her life in danger. As the story built up with a plot twist here and there I found myself turning the pages quickly. I enjoyed getting to know Raina better and learning more about her connection to Marshal Vincent Covelli.
You might not want to start reading this one at night. I received a copy from the publisher, Revell, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own.
Countdown by Lynette Eason is a fabulous novel full of suspense and romance. Ms Eason is a brilliant writer and this book is definitely one of her best. If you’re intrigued by unique service jobs like flight paramedics or US Marshals, you will love this book. Danger lurks at every corner. You won’t be able to put this book down! I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This is book four in the Extreme measures series, I do believe it is a stand alone book, however you will miss a little history of some of the sub characters and some good reads. This book is full of mystery, drama, suspense and so much more, Eason does a great job in developing her characters and their dialogue. Flight paramedic Raina Price has much to hide, when her past starts to haunt her present she must rely on US Marshal Vince Correlli. Vince and Raina find themselves running for their life. This book is full of so much, you find yourselves totally involved in their lives. I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
The newest book in the Lynette Eason's Extreme Measures series did not disappoint! Rainia is strong and resilient and meets her match in Marshall Vince Correlli. While they both are forces to contend with, they lean on their faith and each other to stop Rainia relentless stalker.

Countdown is the final book in the Extreme Measure series. We finally get Raina’s story as well as a great ending to the series. While this one was a little slower pace than the previous four in the series it ended up being my favorite because of that. I enjoyed getting to know more about Raina’s past and meeting Vince.
Reading Countdown reminded me what Lynette Eason is my go-to for Christian Romantic Suspense because she gives me the right balance of suspense and romance. Can’t wait to see what she does next.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Lynette Eason has done it again! A wonderful clean suspense. The paramedic that has a mysterious past is now in the spotlight!. She writes in such a way, though, you almost feel sorry for the bad guys and want them to get help!
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.
