If you enjoy reading a book full of danger and intrigue, mystery and danger with an unknown stalker, stalking our heroine, then Count Down is the book for you. I love Eason's books and this is the fourth one in this series and they are all so riveting. I like the way she weaves faith into her writings. Also there is always some romance among the leading characters. So hold onto your seats as you take this journey within the pages of Count Down. What a fantastic Christian thriller series.... Thanks to Revell for this great read and I am so happy to leave my review.

Raina was in an abusive relationship that she was able to escape. Because she was afraid he would find her again she changed her name, cut all her ties with her family and moved. Fear of her abuser left her fearful about sharing anything about her past and unable to establish close relationships. Spoiler alert--there was a child which she gave up for adoption. When she fears her child is at risk she finally opens up to her friends for help in saving the child. Good story, a quick read, and some romance. Be aware that this is about Christian people, so if that offends you, this is not your book. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc, and for no pressure for a positive review.
Raina Price is a flight paramedic with a dark past. She has been trying to flee this past for many years, but it seems like it is finally starting to catch up to her! Will she be able to escape it, or will she have to face all she has been running from?
I liked that this book had a lot of action. The action was ongoing from the first page and made me eager to keep reading. Most of the book is packed with these kinds of moments that make you want the antagonist to be caught soon.
Raina, the main character, was fierce and strong. It was refreshing to see that she could be weak at times too, and that her character grew in that she did not only represent herself as fearless but showed growth in that she was able to accept help when needed. Later in the book, a deep secret she had is revealed too. This made her seem so much more human. It was good to see that the main character could also make mistakes and, through them, learn the value of relying on God.
Unfortunately, I failed to connect with many of the characters in the book. I think this was because I was jumping in at the finale of the series and lacked familiarity with the characters. As the book progressed, the author did her best to fill the reader in on events that had happened throughout the series. I still found myself feeling a bit lost and confused at times, but I think this would not have happened had I read the previous novels.
This book is for audiences that enjoy mystery, love stories, and a book grounded in Christian principles. Tough topics such as abuse and adoption are discussed and are a major theme of the book. I would recommend reading the other three books in the series before jumping into this one. All in all, the book was enjoyable.
I received a complimentary copy of the book through Revell, NetGalley, and Interviews & Reviews. All views and opinions are my own.
I have been waiting to read this book because I've loved all of the previous books in the Extreme Measures series and I wasn't disappointed! Finally it's time for Raina to have her own book and boy was I surprised! Raina suffered a huge betrayal when she was younger and to escape a stalker, she changed her name, left her family and friends and started a new life as a paramedic. But she has always kept everyone at arms length, never letting anyone get to close; however, when she sees someone from her past on TV, she must risk everything to let them know they are in danger - even if that brings the danger back to her.
Overall, this was a very exciting book with lots of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat - especially the end! There really isn't anything I would change in this book and highly recommend it if you like Christian Romantic suspense. Definitely 5 stars!!
I received this book by the author to read and review - all opinions are my own.
What a masterpiece! This author knows how to write them! Such suspense! Such a satisfying story! What more could you want? Raina is a flight paramedic, along with her loyal friends. US Marshall Vincent is trained to protect. Raina has lived her entire adult life running from a killer and secrets related to him. When her life is in danger, Vincent steps up to help shoulder the danger, with the help of God. Such a satisfying ending!
I read this book compliments of the publishers. The thoughts expressed are my own.
I loved how this book ended this series. This was my favorite book in this wonderful series. I loved Raina and Vince and the romance that blooms between them. I loved all the action and suspense. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
Rapid-paced and dripping with tension, this thrilling suspense will grip your attention and keep you caught up in the struggle to survive and to learn the truth. Twists and surprising developments keep you guessing. Painful secrets from the past add to the mystery, The author did a great job at keeping both the characters and the reader off-kilter. Forgiveness of others and of self comes through as a major theme. If you like an exciting suspense read, grab this and get lost is the attempt to escape a stalker/potential killer. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are mine. #Countdown #NetGalley
If she asks for help, will it get him killed?
Ooh, I knew Raina's story would be good but Lynette Eason managed to exceed my expectations in Countdown! It had all of the chills and thrills that I've come to expect – and enjoy – from the Extreme Measures ladies, plus a little bit more...
Countdown has a little bit of everything in it from kidnapping to murder to betrayal to attempts to silence the only living witness... And, thanks to all of that, there is one thing that Raina and Vince never get a chance to do – just breathe.
Lynette Eason most definitely keeps her readers glued to the page and sitting on the edge of their seats with this fourth Extreme Measures book. It's entertaining and interesting and exciting and it keeps you guessing. I had my suspicions part way through the book but I had to wait until the very end – on tenterhooks the entire time – before I found for sure if I was right or not.
The only disappointing thing about Countdown is that is the final book in the Extreme Measures series and I am sorry to be saying goodbye to Lynette Eason's strong-willed and strong-minded ladies. They've been so much fun to curl up in a chair and spend a few hours with...
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Raina is a flight paramedic who is suddenly confronted by her past - and it wants to kill her. Vince is a US Marshall and is determined to protect her no matter the cost.
I haven’t read the first three books in this series, but I felt like I was able to dive right in! I do want to go back and read the rest at some point as well.
The nice thing about a book where the MCs are already friends is that you can jump right into the action! I thought this balanced relationship growth, action, and romance really well!
There are also subplots about faith and redemption that contributed to this being an engaging and enjoyable read.
I love romantic suspense, so Revell is a go-to publisher for me! Thank you for a #gifted eARC. All thoughts are my own.
Countdown (Extreme Measures Book 4) by Lynette Eason is a predictably exciting thriller. Ms. Eason’s novels are always “on the edge of your seat” stories.
Someone is stalking Raina Price. She has changed her name and disappeared. She has relocated and has a job as a flight paramedic. Since her stalker has not emerged for a long while, Raina thinks she is safe, but can’t help looking over her shoulder always. Then her life is in danger again.
US Marshall Vincent Covelli’s job is to hunt down fugitives and protect those in protective custody as they are assigned to him. Since seeing Raina almost killed in front of him, he is assigned to try to keep her safe.
I loved Vincent Covelli’s character because he just didn’t give up and was always one step ahead. Even when Raina didn’t think he was around her, he was there to see her safe.
The action just continues to step up as the novel progresses. I was anxious the whole time I read the book because I always expected the worst to happen. Even when I thought the two were safe, the stalker seemed to find them.
I also thought that the author’s characterizations of the main individuals’ personalities gave the novel more interest. I always love to read Ms. Eason’s novels. I received this copy for free , and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lynette Eason's books are always moved to NEXT no matter how many books I have in my TBR stack. They're always THAT GOOD. Countdown is book 4 in her Extreme Measures series, and readers who have been following along finally get flight medic Raina Price's story.
Raina has been running from the man who nearly killed her for so long that she almost doesn't remember who she used to be. Anyone who has ever helped her has turned up dead, so trust is something she doesn't do - except for the friends she met during her stint in juvie, but even they don't know her whole story, or why she turned up on their doorstep with a new name. Her explanation that she was fleeing a stalker, while true, was enough for them but not the whole truth. After more than 10 years, she's tired of running but when she suddenly becomes a target again can she trust her friends, and the law, without getting them killed in the process?
US Marshal Vince Corelli has finally worked up the nerve to ask Raina out when she is nearly killed right in front of him. Learning that she has had a stalker in the past, he decides a bit of protection from him wouldn't hurt. Raina doesn't want to put anyone else she cares about in the line of fire but Vince's persistence finally convinces her that she needs help. As they investigate who is behind the escalating attacks, will they both begin to realize that they're stronger together?
I really enjoyed this book and flew through it in a little over a day. I listened to the audio version which really brought the characters to life. Raina has been a bit of a mystery throughout this series, always doing her best not to be caught on camera. I've always wondered what (or who) she was hiding from but Ms. Eason never explained. Now that I know, wow.
Readers who enjoy romantic suspense will enjoy this one. I couldn't put it down!
Countdown by Lynette Eason – Mixed Reaction
I have enjoyed several novels by Lynette Eason and was excited to read her newest release Countdown, the fourth book in the Extreme Measures series.
Raina Price works as a flight paramedic along with her friends Penny and Holly. Raina had to reinvent her life due to an abusive relationship from which she had escaped. To protect herself and her loved ones there is no going back. While watching sports news Raina sees a young snowboarder who is the spitting imagine of the man from whom she escaped. If she has seen Michael Harrison, surely the boy’s father will see him and figure out who he is. How can she protect the boy? Raina’s been feeling spooked lately, like someone has watching her. US Marshal Vincent Covelli is concerned and wants to help Raina. Will she accept his help or try to go it alone? How can Vincent and law enforcement help protect Raina from a man whose true-identity and whereabouts are unknown?
This book had a lot of twists and turns. The action and intrigue did not stop until the end.
What I liked about the book: I appreciated the friendships that Raina had with Penny and Holly and their friends. They were a closeknit group and there for each other, through thick and thin. I liked Vincent, he was a very caring and patient man, ready to put himself in danger to protect Raina.
What I struggled with: Countdown really stretched the imagination on believability. I understand that there are evil people out there who are intent on causing harm and destruction. But to have someone keep track of a person for many years, as well as those with associated with her, was not believable. To be able track when she called a person after many years, who has the resources to that?
It did not make sense that Raina who has been in constant fear for her life, especially following an incident, would come home and not lock the garage door. Come on! The logic on why the bad guy was doing what he did, it was a stretch too.
I would like to have seen the characters’ faith a bigger part of the story. Instead, it seemed cursory.
There were things I liked about Countdown and some things I was not too keen on. I like Lynette Eason’s writing, but Countdown was not my favorite. If you are a fan of Lynette Eason and have read the earlier books in this series, you may enjoy it.
I would like to thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Countdown by Lynette Eason. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
The Extreme Measures Series has been an amazing one! After reading the previous books, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one! Eason tied everything up perfectly. Raina has always been a bit of a mystery and I was so excited to get to know her more. Building a new life wouldn’t have been easy, especially when you have to leave everyone who loves you behind. Raina’s lifeline has been her friends from juvie. She is used to living her life on edge and always scared that her stalker might have found her, but this time it seems like she might be right. It will take more than her strength and knowledge to survive, luckily she has Vince who just so happens to protect people for a living. Can they escape long enough to catch her stalker? Or will Raina be forced to start over somewhere new again?
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense. Eason is a master at the edge of your seat suspense, and I couldn’t get enough. I can’t wait to see what she does next! I received a complimentary copy of the book from the Revell publishing and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I was hooked right from the beginning. We are following Raina Price, who is a flight paramedic, and Vince Corelli, who is a U.S Marshal. I loved how Vince and Raina were friends at the very beginning and we find out that Vince has feelings for Raina, but Raina feel like they can only be friends because of events from her past and secrets she's keeping. Vince really supported Rayna and I liked how he encouraged her to trust him. Raina does eventually trust him and realizes that she is unable to get through what she’s dealing with without leaning on somebody. I was glad that she decided to trust Vince and tell him her story. The Suspense kept me intrigued and invested in the story. I do feel like there was one particular character that I didn't really understand their role (but is it explained near the end), but even then, I was left questioning some of their actions. I liked that the faith talk felt natural and not forced. Story is very suspense-filled and faith-filled. They talk about their faith a lot and it felt natural not forced. This book wrapped up the series nicely and I was left with good feelings about what the future holds for this friend group.
Countdown is the fourth and final book in the Extreme Measures series. Each book focuses on one of four friends, so while you'll see a few familiar characters mentioned, I do think this could be read just fine on its own without any confusion as well. Either way, it's a great series overall and certainly worth checking out anyway.
Every time I pick up a book by Lynette Eason, I know one thing for certain: I am in for quite an adventure. Countdown absolutely was no exception. Right from the very beginning, I was drawn into this story... and that didn't let up at all throughout the story. We are given several different perspectives throughout the story, which has us feeling like we've got most of it figured out... but there were many twists and turns that kept things interesting. There were definitely a few moments I did not see coming. If you're looking for a fast-past suspense read that will keep you turning the pages, this will certainly do just that. It was combined wonderfully with some romance and great faith elements as well. And that epilogue? Oh, I just adored it!
Overall, I thought this was a great read and one that fans of Christian suspense are sure to want to check out for themselves.
**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All opinions are my own.
If you are looking for a rather intense storyline with danger all around, then I suggest this book. The danger was acute and pretty much nonstop for these characters. In fact, Raina Price has been running from her stalker, who once upon a time left her for dead, for fourteen years. Being young and rebellious got her into a situation with a man whom she never really even knew. And when she finds out how sick he really is, well, that explains why everyone she knew was threatened by him.
US Marshal Vince Covelli is in love with Raina. However, he knows she has secrets that she has not even told her closest friends. He also knows she is in some serious trouble, and he has made the decision to stick by her till the end, no matter what comes. And oh boy, does it come. Vince and Raina are both in danger and they are doing their best to protect one another along with their friends. This one was full of heart stopping dangers, huge revelations, and a patient slow burn romance. A great edition to this series.
I was provided a copy of this novel from Revell Publishing through Interviews and Reviews. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.
What a roller-coaster ride of uncertainty, pain & strength. Loved the amazing bond of friendship & love within the main characters & secondary. Who could it be kept me engaged till the end until pices fell into place. An excellent read!
Raina Price, a flight paramedic, has finally made a good life for herself, but one day it all begins to fall apart when she recognizes someone on television. He is a teenage boy who would be in serious danger if the man she has been running from all these years sees him, too. Desperate for help, she goes against everything she has believed about herself and asks her friend US Marshall Vince Corelli for help. More than willing to help, he makes sure the boy is safe, but then someone tries to kill Raina and he isn't about to let that happen.
What follows is a fast-paced story filled with non-stop heart pounding action. Raina and Vince both have violence in their backgrounds, and they know the devastation that it brings. Now, it appears the man Raina has been running from has found her and Vince will do whatever it takes to protect her even though it means risking his own life.
The author has skillfully crafted a page turner that is packed with surprises, danger and romance. This is a story that will keep readers engrossed from start to finish. Highly recommended.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own.
This new suspense from Lynette Eason did not disappoint as suspected. I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the series while trying to figure out what was going on.
Certain later reveals I did guess earlier on, but the action and suspense kept me flipping the pages.
I really loved the trust message throughout the story as well as the second chance message which was delivered during the whole series.
Even though this is the final book in a series, each book does stand alone, but readers who enjoyed the series from the start with love catching up with characters they got to know and love.
