It was a pleasure once again joining the emergency medical team in Asheville, North Carolina and their law enforcement friends in Eason's fourth book in her Extreme Measures series. In this book we learn more of Raina's story and observe her budding relationship with US Marshal Vincent Covelli as they repeatedly place themselves in danger in order to protect a thirteen year old, future Olympian from a man he has never met, his father. Emotions run high in this story that deals with the topic of domestic violence. As usual Eason shines a spotlight on a social issue of concern while providing romantic suspense fans a wonderful reading experience. This book in particular feels authentic, like a story one might see on the evening news. Fortunately, she provides plenty of positive moments to leave the reader feeling encouraged.

I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Countdown from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

I've loved this series from the beginning!
This book has certainly been a rollercoaster ride with many twists and turns that I didn't see coming.
Eason did a great job with this story! She kept me guessing all the way through! Just wow!!!.
I loved every minute and was sad when the story ended!
Vince and Raina made a great team and I loved in getting to know them.
Eason also.added the right amount of romance too.
My favorite was all the faith filled themes scattered throughout this book.
Gentle reminders of how God is always near and how He watches out for us.
This will be my favorite book by Eason.
Simply because she kept my attention the whole way through.
Great characters that you will make friends with along with wanting to shake your head at them too.
5 stars for an awesome adventure!
I highly recommend!

Wow, I really love fast paced, heart racing suspense stories and this author does them so well. This whole series has been so good. I've read every single one. As the story ramps up, so does my reading rate. Faster and faster until I have to force myself to slow down and enjoy the story instead of being caught up in the intensity that keeps propelling me forward. That's when you know it's good stuff.

The romance is really on the lighter side in this story. It's in it's beginning stages and definitely not the focus of the story but I really enjoyed Raina and Vince. They are pretty chill people despite the crazy things that are happening. They mostly keep level heads, think things through and remained focused on the most important things. It was easy to like them. I loved Vince's desire to support, protect and stand by Raina through it all.

If you love romantic suspense, you should give this series a try. It's so good!

Content: peril, mild violence. Some Christian elements (talk of believing in God, praying). Adoption. PG kissing.

Wow! What an action-packed and exciting conclusion to this series, but it can still be enjoyed as a standalone. Raina is used to danger in her job where rappelling from a helicopter as an EMT is part of her job. She isn't used to it in her personal life. US Marshall Vince has been attracted to Raina for a long time but she doesn't seem interested in him. When Raina sees a young twelve year old accomplished snowboarder on TV, she believes that Matthew will be in danger. She reaches out to Vince for help. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This book kept me on the edge of my seat because Raina was in almost constant danger. Vince puts his life as well in danger protecting her. I love seeing their relationship evolve.

If you want excitement and a fast paced story, this is it! If you want a little bit of romance, this is the one to read. A page turner, for sure.
I have read all 4 books of the series: Extreme Measures. I have enjoyed every one. The characters are believable. Their day to day lives are different from one day to another. Danger lurks in every corner.

Raina and Vincent can't let go of their separate pasts. Until they do, there is no hope for a future together.

I highly recommend this book as well as the others. You won't be disappointed.

Countdown is the fourth and final book in the Extreme Measure series. You do not need to read the previous books, but it is helpful to get to know the characters and all their backstories.

Flight Paramedic Raina Price has been running from a stalker for years and after being attacked in her home, along with some other attempts on her life, she thinks that he may just have found her. While she is fighting to stay alive, she starts investigating who could be behind this, is it her stalker, someone he hired, or could it be possible none of the above? The investigating and staying alive is made easier with the help of US Marshal Vince Corelli. Can they get to him before he gets her? Will she be able to stop him and finally be free?

In my opinion, this was the best book of the series, though not by much, because they are all good and well written. It is that just that this one had something about it, it made me want to keep reading even though I needed to sleep, or work. It had that “one more chapter” vibe happening. It grabbed you right from the start and didn’t let go till the very end. And what an ending. You may think from the description that you would have this book already figured out, that it wouldn’t hold your interest, but you would be wrong, and you would be missing a greatly woven story. I also liked how the ending wasn’t just an ending to a book but was an ending for this series.

It has been way too long since I’ve read a Lynette Eason book! She is easily one of my favorite authors of the romantic suspense genre. Her books never fail to entertain, and Countdown is no exception. Vincent Corelli’s been Raina Price’s close connection for a good while, but she keeps him at a distance. Complications and danger define her past, and Raina wants no old demons to reappear. Too bad fate ignores her wishes, and she finds herself in someone’s crosshairs. Vincent won’t let her face the nightmares alone.

Countdown by Lynette Eason is a quick and easy read, with a plot that demands the reader’s attention. Eason sure kept me drawn in, even though I did have problems with the novel. I think I have read too many romantic suspense novels, so they have started blending and sounding the same. With that in mind, I do not enjoy them as much as I used to. You can only read the “A bad guy wants to kill the woman” stories so many times before you lose track of which authors wrote which novels.

While Countdown contains some unoriginal romantic suspense tropes, I loved Raina and Vince. Raina is a very complex character, and Vince never pushes her to share more than she is willing. Vince wants a relationship with her from the start, but he does not voice it. Instead, he stands by her as a friend. I loved that. And I’ll be honest, even if this book hadn’t featured romance, I would’ve been fine with it. Vince and Raina were just as wonderful as friends as lovebirds. The romance only added to Countdown by Lynette Eason. The relationship may be a little too perfect, but that’s the point of reading a novel, isn’t it? To escape reality for a few blissful hours. Lynette Eason provides that refuge from real life.

Countdown concludes Lynette Eason’s “Extreme Measures” series with a heart-wrenching and heartfelt story of trust, friendship, acceptance, and forgiveness. The novel works as a standalone, for which I am grateful, as I remembered nothing of the prior three books. Don’t miss out on the others, though! If you’re a fan of the romantic suspense genre, “Extreme Measures”—particularly Countdown—is not to miss!

Raina has been in hiding for the last 14 years, but when she sees a young snowboarder on TV who is the younger image of the man who drove her into hiding, she knows there's too much at stake to focus on her own safety. Vince is eager to help, but Raina has been reluctant to let others in ever since someone was killed for trying to help her. Can he convince her to let him help - and maybe even to care? And can they between them save Michael - and maybe even catch the man who's been after Raina?

This is a book with lots of suspense, but also plenty of character building and time for relationship building. I loved watching Raina gradually open up to Vince - and seeing Vince's patience with Raina. The story grabbed me from page 1 and held my attention through to the end. I appreciated that not too many details were given of Raina's old life with Kevin - it's a difficult balance and the author managed it well. All in all, a good read and I look forward to seeing what the author writes next.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Review of eBook

Paramedic Raina Price, part of a medical flight team in Asheville, North Carolina, doesn’t share much about her private life, even with her best friends. But when she sees an interview with thirteen-year-old Olympic hopeful Michael Harrison, she realizes she must act, even if it puts her in danger once again.

US Marshal Vince Covelli, part of the group of friends watching a football game, notices Raina's distress and offers his help. But Raina realizes that, despite her frequent moves and her efforts to keep a low profile, her past has caught up to her . . . and now she may lose her life.

=========

Fourth [and last] in the author’s Extreme Measures series, “Countdown” works well as a standalone for readers who have not yet read the earlier books in the series. Pulling readers into the telling of the tale from the outset, the strong, well-defined characters and pulse-pounding plot keep those pages turning as fast as possible.

Action-packed from the outset, the story keeps the reader guessing as the suspense builds. But the strength of the narrative lies in the sweet romance between Raina and Vince and in the faith messages that are in integral part in the telling of this tale.

Readers who enjoy romantic suspense will find much to appreciate in this unputdownable tale of faith and love.

Highly recommended.

✨Book Review✨

“She raised on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. At least she was aiming for his cheek, but he turned his head and met her lips. And that was just fine with her.”

The final book in the series Extreme Measure by Lynette Eason is one you don’t want to miss! Countdown is a fast pace, nonstop read. It is part of a series but can be read as a standalone. Characters from the other books do make an appearance in this one.

I’d enjoy finally getting to learn more about Raina. Her character arc was crazy. After getting out of a toxic relationship Raina leaves everything behind to get away from the crazy ex. So it wasn’t surprising that she keeps most people an arm length away, especially Vincent. But throughout the book Raina realizes that Vincent is a good guy, who she can count on. I cheered when they finally kissed. It took forever for that happen.

Vincent has a patient of a saint. He knew Raina was keeping him at arms length, so he just was there being supportive friend. I love that Vincent fall first. It was cute and definitely made me like him more. Vincent and Raina are perfect for each other. They are a little opposite of each other but it works.

If you love a suspense thriller, with romance. Then you’ll want to give this one a try.

These thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC

Countdown is excellent romantic suspense. The book starts with Raina making a daring rescue of an injured hiker that fell over the cliff. Raina and Vince, the main characters, are believable and very likeable. Raina has an excellent reason not to pursue a romantic relationship. Vince, a federal agent, is a protector to his core. Their faith journeys are knitted throughout the book being an integral part of the story. There's a great HEA and a wonderful epilogue. I love the positive light that the book shines on adoption. The plot has twists and turns that I never suspected and comes to a very satisfying conclusion. I would definitely be thrilled to read more from author Lynette Eason and highly recommend Countdown.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley and am sharing my opinion of this thrilling work of romantic suspense.

I love finding an author that writes in such a manner that I want to keep reading and reading. From the first pages, I knew this one was going to be a great story!

The plot of this book is awesome! With a strong female lead, this story of stalking and protection is well balanced and Eason pours her soul into the action and multiple twists. While you may figure out who the bad guy is, I think it ramps up the pace and adds some heart-pounding to the book.

With a lovely building romance building right along with the suspense, Countdown is a well-balanced story that offers a sweet, supportive, and fierce love for Raina. I love his positivity and caring soul.

This is the first book I have read by Eason. I love her storytelling gift and will definitely check out more from her, including the other three books in this series! I love the strong women she features. Countdown offers great twists and plenty of action, along with a slow-burn love to keep those pages turning!

This novel centers around Raina, a woman with a troubled past. She is a survivor, however, and has managed to create a good life for herself. That life is now being threatened. Most of the narrative of this novel deals with the developing romance between her and Vince. There is quite a bit of character thought included so the suspense is periodic.

But there is a good deal of suspense. One of my pet peeves is suspense happening because of unwise action by characters who should know better. Shortly after a failed attempt on Raina's life, Vince takes her to a very vulnerable location, a lake. They go on an open pontoon boat with no additional protection around. They have been followed and, of course, shots are fired and suspense follows. They manage to live through it but then, later, they are on a drive, by themselves with no additional protection, and are rear ended and suspense follows again. I don't like danger resulting because the hero makes such unwise choices. I like it much more when the villain outwits a smart hero.

This is a romantic suspense novel for readers who like an emphasis on potential romance and don't mind suspense generated by bad decisions of the characters. The faith message is subtle, but there is a good exploration of forgiving others who have done great damage to us or those we love. One realizes we have probably all made decisions that have hurt others, suggesting we have a more forgiving attitude.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

Intense, non-stop action, great characters and an original plot line make this latest installment in the Extreme Measures series a winner in all categories. A young man's life hangs in the balance. He is in grave danger, and he has no idea. Flight paramedic Raina Price has a past that has come back to haunt her. She has done everything humanly possible to keep her identity a secret and protect those she loves, but her stalker has found her. US Marshal Vince Correlli has vowed to keep Raina safe at all costs. He is, of course, a protector by nature and profession, but his personal feelings for Raina are also at work in his protection.

The countdown is literally running as they race across country to intercede and hopefully apprehend this mysterious man from Raina's past. He gave a fake name and tried to kill her, but she has no clue as to his real identity.

The pace was brisk and unrelenting. My heart was in my throat a couple of times. Lynette Eason is a rich storyteller who will pull you into her stories and make you love her characters. You see characters from other characters in this series play a vital part to the story. I love this series and this book. The characters are fun to get to know. If you enjoy a good, tightly wound romantic suspense novel, you will enjoy this one.

Thank you to Revell Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Countdown (Extreme Measures Book #4) is an awesome book by Lynette Eason. The conclusion to the Extreme Measures Series is one action-packed, suspenseful read. Flight paramedic Raina Price makes a point from the beginning of the story to try not to allow her picture to be on the news, no matter how newsworthy the rescue might be. From that you know something is going on in her life. Then you find out she has been hiding for fourteen years from a stalker who is so much more dangerous than even she previously thought. US Marshal Vincent Corelli a friend who becomes more to her is right there when the danger comes back.

This faith-based story does not minimize the menacing threaten but does bring God into the story in wonderful inspiring ways. The unexpected turns and twists keep this a page turner. Then the conclusion is just perfectly fitting. I highly recommend Countdown and the entire Extreme Measures Series.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a complimentary digital copy. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

Adorable because Vince is sweet with Raina and goes at her pace. Intense because she has a stalker and is afraid for the safety of a young boy. Suspenseful because it’s non stop action and they can’t seem to catch a break. The whole series is worth reading, each book has a new couple but the friends make an appearance. The women were in juvenile hall as a kids and bonded while changing their path and turning to their faith. The books are great for all at any age, mature teens to adult. I got to read an advanced copy and wrote this review voluntarily.

Eason is the best when it comes to writing about serial killers. This is a different take that focuses more on a survivor who is always looking over her shoulder. When she sees something on the news and knows someone else is about to become a target, she decides it's time to end things even if she has to use herself as bait.

I appreciated Vince and how he cared about Raina even knowing she had some big secrets. He is a faithful friend. I appreciated his perspective. While Raina was disappointed with God for allowing bad things to happen, Vince helped her see that her very survival was proof of his presence. He reminded her that if God stopped every bad thing from happening, "we wouldn't get to see him work...what good is faith if you have no opportunity to exercise it?" (location 2337).

I enjoyed the suspense and the way Raina's friends support each other. It was a great read. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I'd highly recommend it. All opinions are my own.
