This was a wonderful conclusion to Liz Johnson's Prince Edward Island Shores series! All of them have been great, but this one was especially good. I loved the strong but virtually silent Levi Ross. Kelsey Ahern was his opposite in so many ways, but the two of them together were amazing.

Kelsey Ahern started performing at the Victoria Playhouse when she was 7 years old. Her grandmother got her started, and it eventually became her life's work. She is all grown up and teaching drama at the local school when a hurricane destroys the Playhouse, taking her job and future right along with it. Her only hope is to rebuild the Playhouse before she is forced to take a position away from her beloved island home. To do that, she needs the skills of the school's facilities director, Levi Ross.

Levi has been half in love with Kelsey ever since he saw her in a play when she was in high school. She doesn't know it, but he was in the audience for every play she was in after that. His "life escape" is reading (and memorizing, in some cases) plays. When Kelsey asks him to help her find a way to do a benefit play performance to rebuild the playhouse, he's willing to help any way he can. As they work together, can he ever find the words to tell her how he feels - has always felt - about her?

One of my tests for a story is whether it makes me laugh. Another is whether it makes me cry. This story did both at one time or another. The nearly silent Levi was a wonderful foil for the outgoing Kelsey, and the entire Ross family (except for their wastrel of a father) had me rooting for each to find their happiness. I highly recommend this entire series!

This is the third Christiane romance book in series Prince Edward Island Shore. The book set on one of my favorite place in the world - PEI. When a hurricane destroys the Victoria Playhouse Kelsey's career is in jeopardy as well.
She teams up with Levi Ross, the facilities director at the high school, to rebuild the theater.

This is a such sweet read for me, tough the there is no highlight of the whole book. But I just care about the characters and do happy about them find the way to solve the issue and get together. the book make me happy and make me want to visit PEI again, specially Victoria.

there are something i don't like about this book.
The love crash part, I do understand Levi has feeling for Kelsey, but Her? TO Him?
The daydream imagination part. come on, not every time they see each other, not under de live threatening situation.

4 stars.

Summer in the Spotlight is the final book in Johnson's "Prince Edward Island Shores" series and a book I was eagerly anticipating! The story starts out pretty good and I found it very easy to read.

The characters were nice, although I struggled at first with Levi. It was difficult for me to connect to him when he didn't say much and others would try to interpret what he meant from his grunts/shrugs/etc. It got better as I read, though, and I liked him in the end. The romance was cute and I liked the ending.

All in all, Summer in the Spotlight was a cute read and I think fans of the series and/or contemporary romance will enjoy it. I did find the romance was a little intense at times, so just wanted to mention that.

Liz Johnson's Prince Edward Island Shores series has truly been a fresh of breath air in the world of publishing today. Her writing is excellent and the stories are top notch! She has a way of hooking the reader and causing you to want to visit as soon as possible! At least, I know that's how I feel when I read her stories! And no worries if you haven't read any of the other books in the series yet...as these can be read as standalones or out of order!

In Summer in the Spotlight, we meet Kacey and Levi. When a hurricane destroys the local playhouse, these two team up to raise money to rebuild. Though they have some issues to work through, it's obvious that these two belong together!

I love how this book incudes a sweet romance and an inspirational message. It's a wonderful book that you should highly consider reading!

Summer in the Spotlight by Liz Johnson is a lovely book set in Prince Edward Island. A hurricane devastates the community and two people work together to produce a theater production and help them re-build. I loved this book. The romance was perfect and the community was vibrant and interesting. Prince Edward Island is one of my favorite places, and that made it even better. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

With Summer in the Spotlight, Liz Johnson concludes a series armchair journey to Prince Edward Island, Canada, with a sweet and romantic story of pining and love. It brings the story world full circle in many ways, and includes a larger arc of the brothers’ shared experiences of an event that had lasting impact in their adolescence.

From the (natural) disaster meet-cute for the readers in chapter 1, the spark between Levi and Kelsey is clear — and so are the foundations of their personalities, with Levi and his caring tenderness and Kelsey and her bubbly drama. This slow burn romance delves into friendship and understanding as they both find a camaraderie in working toward the personal and community goal of saving the local drama offerings. I really like how Levi’s perspective highlights his good-guy hero status and the joys to be found in small town dreams.

The sense of community and family Johnson establishes in her novels is heartwarming and endearing, and the cast of this one fit right into her idyllic and grounded story world. Life’s problems, pains, and sacrifices aren’t glossed over, but they’re handled with wisdom and lessons for Levi and Kelsey, especially relating to overcoming and realizing truths about family and love. Levi’s brothers fittingly play a role in this story, and it is wonderful to see them all together with a new sense of connection rooted in groundwork of the previous novels.

I know it’s standard procedure to swoon over heroes of novels (alongside the lovely heroines) as potential “book boyfriends”, but I would like to make an argument here for Levi to be my “book best friend”. I think he’s romantically perfectly matched with Kelsey, of course. I just see a lot intellectually in common with Levi (even though he’s a fictional character): he’s bookish, a gentleman, the youngest of his siblings, fiercely protective of those he loves, always learning, has a soft spot for students (especially Dusty! I loved his character!), and comfortable with his small town dreams. Anyone who knows me knows that’s pretty close to my own personality. So, I think we’d be great friends!

Thank you to the the Revell Reads program for the review copy. This is my honest review.

Prince Edward Island shores book 3... I love this sweet, feel good. Series set on Prince Edward Island, a place I would love to go see! Levian Kelsey have both suffered family trauma & are still working on healing. When a hurricane unexpectedly brings them together, and the aftermath keeps them working on a project to save the theater together, can they help heal their hearts and their past traumas together? This book is about a small town with a big heart, about family and friendships, about healing and growing, persevering, and triumph.

Summer in the Spotlight is the third visit to the shores of Prince Edward Island. The stories stand on their own but I still recommend reading them all because they’re great.

This might have actually been my favorite of the books. I’m torn. But anyway, we’ve got Kelsey who’s been on the stage of the local community theater every year since she was seven. That is, until a hurricane rips the building apart and there aren’t enough funds to repair it.

Then add into the mix Levi Ross, the almost silent high school facilities director. He’s had a soft spot for Kelsey for years but never spoken up. Until the night of the hurricane when he rescues her and the tow start working to save the theater.

There’s nothing quite like a friends to more, or a reluctant and overlooked hero, and Levi, for all his shyness, takes center stage in this story really well. He’s a swoony hero for sure. The thing I think I liked most about this installment is the way we glimpsed couples from the past and tied up the backstory about the Ross family patriarch. This was masterfully done and will leave readers with a big smile.

I received a copy via NetGalley from the publisher, the enjoyment is all my own.

This is the perfect ending to the Ross brothers’ story! I fell in love with quiet Levi who loves literature and can quote Oscar Wilde plays from memory. He was a wonderful character to watch throughout the series. I was excited to see his thought process in his chapters. Kelsey was a great surprise as I understand her passion for theatre. I was a theatre kid so it touched my heart as she organized a way to save the local theatre. This was all great but the romance was even better. I swooned at a certain Oscar Wilde scene and I couldn’t put it down. I definitely need to reread The Importance of Being Ernest because of all the references.

I received an arc via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

Levi was young when he was told by his father that his words didn't matter. This impacted his whole life. He kept to himself and said very little.

Kelsey had much to say. She adored the theatre and performing on stage. She felt connected to her deceased grandmother there. Together they were very active in the community theatre in
Prince Edward Island.

Disaster strikes the theatre she loves. Kelsey is determined to save it. Kristy felt that by saving the theatre she would gain her grandmother's approval. This almost impossible task becomes more of a reality with Levi's help.

Can Levi and Kelsey escape their hidden demons? Will the theatre survive? Can they risk their vulnerability for a chance of love?

Your past can be traumatizing. It can also be misleading when you are a kid. You don't always know everything that is going on. It is a good thing that Kelsey and Levi have each other as they got through the summer of getting to know each other and learning more about themselves in the process. Good read!

This was an awesome story!! I really like the way the author introduced and then developed the characters. This story has something for everyone - humor, family relationships, adversity, and love. I was so happy that the hero and heroine of the story found each other and both overcame the obstacles in their lives so that they could provide strength and support for each other. Can't wait to read more stories by this author.

Thanks to Net Galley and Revel Publishing for the reader's galley in return for an honest review of this book.

I usually enjoy books by this author but this one just didn’t do it for me. I will read others by the author and I’m sure people will enjoy it more than I did.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Opposites attract in this latest romance by Liz Johnson.
Levi is the quietest character I’ve ever read about! He’s unwilling to speak much at all and chooses to quietly observe most of the time than give his opinion. Kelsey’s words tumble out when she’s nervous or thinking out loud, making for some nice awkward moments.
Readers will get to revisit characters from the previous books in this series, catching up with where they’re at in their respective relationships.
There are some wild characters in this story, making for some fun reading.
Kelsey is determined to keep the local theatre running despite a hurricane that destroys the old theatre where the locals produce their shows. Levi inspires the benefit concert and in his own unique way, spreads the word about the fundraiser.
This is a fun summertime read, and if you like Canadian settings, this one is a definite must read!
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

My thoughts: SUMMER IN THE SPOTLIGHT is a sweet message. Kelsey is an outgoing, theatric person, over-the-top, and Levi is quiet and rarely speaks at all. Two very different couples! I enjoyed the story and getting to know them and how they hope to save the Playhouse and Kelsey's job. There is no faith message to speak of, but forgiveness is key, and the romance is slow and easy. I enjoyed this series and look forward to whatever Ms. Johnson is working on next. I really liked how they worked together to solve their problems. IIf you like summer romances you will want to read SUMMER INTHE SPOTLIGHT. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own. Recommended.

This was a really sweet read about a man who’s held onto his high school crush for ten years and the woman who fights to overcome trial after trial. Both MCs were likable and a couple I root for from the very beginning. It was a slow start, and the faith content wasn’t as much as I like to see when a book is considered a “Christian Romance.” In fact, I personally wouldn’t call this a Christian Romance but a sweet romance showcasing Christian characters. The story itself was told very well and I loved how both MCs came out of their shells in unique ways and brought out the best in each other. There were a few sweet kisses so it was kept squeaky clean.

I think this book was my favorite in the series!

I realized on opening it that it's book 3 in a series, and--wonder of wonders--my local library had books 1 and 2 available for checkout! So I went back and read those first, for a change, and was glad I did; each builds on the others, and you really get to know the characters and their arcs over the course of the trilogy. Well worth reading in order, for sure.

Yes, some of the events were a tad predictable--but how they panned out wasn't! And for that I was glad. :)

Luke is a great hero; I think I especially enjoyed his character because he's definitely an introvert who doesn't like to talk (granted, exacerbated by significant life events). And he and Kelsey balance each other out quite nicely in that regard! Their story was endearing and sweet.

Of course, the PEI setting can't be beat, and the entire series made me want to visit the island all the more--especially upon finding out that Victoria by the Sea is a real town! Bring it on! :)

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

SUMMER IN THE SPOTLIGHT by Liz Johnson is a fun romantic comedy with a friends-to-romantic couple trope that I enjoyed very much. This uplifting and heartwarming story is sure to steal your heart.

Liz Johnson sure knows how to keep her readers engaged in SUMMER ON THE SPOTLIGHT. After a hurricane hits Prince Edward Island, Kelsey is out of a job and the island is about to lose their theatre. Kelsey is heart broken. She comes up with a plan to renovate the theatre but first she needs to raise some money for the rebuild. Levi jumps right in and offers to help her. Levi and Kelsey are such a strange pair. Levi barely talks and Kelsey never stops talking! Its a hysterical situation. When you learn the reason why Levi is reluctant to talk to others, it will break your heart.

I enjoyed SUMMER IN THE SPOTLIGHT so very much! There is so much that Kelsey has to do to get the theatre up and running. Levi is a wonderful partner for her tasks. Levi is also hiding something and he’s reluctant to start a relationship. This is a slow-burn romance, with two reluctant participants, who become friends long before they become A couple. Levi never stopped showing Kelsey how much she meant to him by what he did. He always had her back, over and over again.

I really liked Kelsey and just adored Levi. Together they made a believable and lovely couple and I was rooting for them throughout the book. I’m ready to pack my things and move to Prince Edward Island after reading this beautiful story! Even though this is the third book in the Prince Edward Island Shores series and I did not read the first two, it stands just fine on its own. I didn’t struggle with the story line at all. The cover is just beautiful isn’t it?

I recommend SUMMER IN THE SPOTLIGHT to anyone who enjoys romance and women’s fiction.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and Netgalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Summer in the Spotlight
Prince Edward Island Shores #3
By Liz Johnson

In the final book of the Prince Edward Island Shores series, a hurricane is about to destroy Kelsey Ahern's plans for the future when it hits the island. The greatest damage is to the Victoria Playhouse, the playhouse where she shared the stage with her late grandmother. With the very real possibility that the playhouse will never be reopened, Kelsey is looking at unemployment and the loss of her best memories of her grandmother.

But Kelsey isn't about to let the playhouse go so easily. It draws visitors to Victoria and is a center point of the community. Determined to do all she can to save the playhouse, she seeks out Levi Ross for help.

Levi has hardly spoken since he was fifteen years old when his father left, but not before breaking something inside him. Levi is willing to do whatever he can to help Kelsey. Something about her makes him want to do more, be more than what his father's words shaped him into. But to save the playhouse could cost him his dream. Or it could very well give him a new dream to pursue.

A Summer in the Spotlight is a book about discovery - who or what determines our worth? Kelsey and Levi have let the past shape them into who they are today. They've both developed strengths, but there is always that niggling fear, that voice that whispers that all the efforts they make will never allow them to be enough. This is a summer to silence the voices, to remold what the past has shaped, and a chance at finding love if they are brave enough to accept it.

This is the third book in the series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is an engaging book from the first page as a hurricane bears down on them. From there, it never lets up, slowly revealing the layers that make Kelsey and Levi who they are. I have to admit, I really connected with Levi's character as he struggled to make his voice be heard, not just to others but to his own self. I highly recommend this book - it would make an excellent choice for a book club selection.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion, all thoughts expressed are my own.

Levi Ross has decided to ignore the meteorologist who predicted a particularly early hurricane for Prince Edward Island and the consequences would be just what he deserved… if he deserved to be quietly tending the wounds of PEI’s only other resident stuck in the school when said hurricane dropped a tree through the roof of Kelsey Ahern’s classroom. But what he deserves has been a sticking point for Levi ever since his dad left the island and all his collateral damage without looking back. With Kelsey fired up about the future of the storm damaged Victoria Playhouse, and Levi fired up by Kelsey all over again, his past, present, and future are on a collision course. I can say from experience, Liz Johnson’s third installment of her Prince Edward Island Shores series apparently does not have to be read in order for the reader to get caught up in the storm that rages between the girl who grew up in the spotlight and the guy who will do anything to hide from it. The Ross family dynamics and their community of neighbors fuel this story all the way to a satisfying ending.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me a copy to read and review. All opinions expressed here are my own and are completely genuine.
