The third in a trilogy, but the first I’ve read and it makes me want to go back to read the first two. Annie has been through a lot after recently finding her long lost abducted sister. She only wants to find that true happiness and she believes she has found that in Jon. Only life keeps getting in her way - specifically her job as she is on the hunt for some people that are up to no good. This one has a dark side … and a light side, as there is with life. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this one. I can’t wait to read the first two.

Break of Day is the 3rd book in the Annie Pederson series by Colleen Coble. I found this to be a book that easily pulled me in from the first chapter. It as fast paced and a great ending to this series. As ususal the book is filled with many twists and turns and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Her "heavy eyes finally closed for what seemed only a few minutes, but when she popped them open, she realized dawn was nearly there. The light had that quality where the sun could begin to break over the eastern horizon at any minute. And she was still trapped."

Annie Pederson is finally understanding certain parts of her past. She thinks she is ready to start over. But suddenly her job as a law enforcement officer intersects with her personal life. Can she figure out who is involved? Will she forever be one step away from happiness?

This book kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. What is demanded of the characters in order for them to survive is pretty intense. I did not see all of the connections until later on in the storyline. There is a darker element that some readers may not like. The faith part is a bit understated.

While one could appreciate the suspense element in this book, without reading the first two books in the series, readers would definitely be confused. I had read book two only a few months before, so I could mostly still follow the storyline. But I still needed to reference back to remember what happened in books 1 and 2. The storyline weaves together well throughout the trilogy, but I would not recommend this book as a stand-alone.

Part of the storyline relies around broken relationships. Some of the connections do not completely seem realistic because they have been fractured. I suppose this is what happens when lost souls try to live out life. I wanted steps to be taken toward healing, but they seemed to falter a bit.

Overall I thought this was a good book. I think this was a satisfying conclusion to the series. I am glad that I read this book. I was especially glad that thanks to NetGalley, I did not have to wait to read it. All opinions in this review are my own.

I was drawn to the Annie Pederson series for two reasons. I actually know a woman by that name, which was an amusing coincidence and Collen Coble, one of the best mystery writers today. This has been such a riveting series. I do advise that any reader who is interested should start with the first of the three books. Break of Day is a stand-alone novel as the author fills in enough background to keep the story going smoothly but it's so much better in my opinion to read in sequence. They are that good.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley this is my unsolicited opinion about the story. What an ending to the murder-mystery that Annie has been immersed in! Annie and Jon are planning their future then she learns that Glenn Hussert has escaped. Her sister needs protection, another woman visiting the area has been reported missing and Annie is trying to protect her family while helping the sheriff find the escapee. This is one tension filled plot with life threatening danger and a shocking revelation. (I loved it, figured it out.) I'm so pleased with how the entire story came together for an excellent ending.
Now, Colleen Coble, I think Annie needs more crimes to solve. She's a great character and needs more than three books.

Break of Day by Colleen Coble is the third and final book in the Annie Pederson series. I was definitely invested in the characters and the storyline because of the first two books so I was excited to read the conclusion to the trilogy. This book picks up right where book two leaves off (can't say more than that to avoid spoilers) and is fast-paced from beginning to end. This book is full of action and twists and yet also provides resolutions to the loose ends. I can say I was honestly surprised by the ending. I would definitely add this romantic suspense series to your TBR is you haven't already, but I would highly recommend reading all three books in order in order to experience all the twists and turns.

Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

A new author to me and enjoyed the book despite not having read first 2 in series. Strong woman lead character and she is law enforcement so hits two of my Favorites. Plan is to read first two now

I didn’t realize when I started reading this story that it was the final book of three, still it was a great mystery and hard to put down. I would recommend reading the three books in order as you would have more of the background to the characters.

The book had romance in it and was action packed and full of suspense. Annie the main character has had a lot of struggles since the sudden death of her parents and husband. Raising a child as a single parent and doing her job in law enforcement has been challenging. She is getting a second chance at love when things happen that might destroy everything. Does Annie and her loved ones make it out alive?

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fast-paced romantic suspense.

Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for an advanced copy of this book.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Jon and Annie continue on their journey back to one another. Always twists and turns that happen with them but it was great to see Kylie open up more with Jon.

Great happy ending as well!

A fitting end:
This book needs to be read as part of the series and it took me a little bit to place all of the characters and to recall what had previously transpired. Basically it is just one continuous story that has been broken up and published as 3 separate books. However it was a good series and I think I enjoyed this final book the most. The characters really came into themselves and the threads were all brought together nicely and we finally discovered what had been happening and who the guilty parties were. There was plenty of mystery and danger but some sweet and tender moments too. The faith element was woven well throughout and was also more prominent than in the previous two books, which was something that I greatly appreciated.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

This was a brilliant conclusion to a gripping series.

I loved this book from start to finish although not my usual genre it had me hooked from book one. Within Break of Day you see more of Annie and Jon relationship blossom as they navigate the new path of being back in each others lives and realising that Kylie is actually their child.

That is not all they also have to cope with Annie's sister being back in their lives and the journey to forgiveness between Annie and Sarah. This was also lovely to read and see develop the author really pulled on your emotions.

With all that emotional turmoil there is still more when they get caught in what can only be describe as a murder game from someone who they considered a friend. I don't want to write any spoilers all I can say is you will need to read to find out but it isn't who you would think but very well written.

Throughout there was a good element of faith contact and a reminder that no matter the circumstances God will protect you and see you through.

A really enjoyable read. Thank you to Net Galley and Colleen Coble for the chance to receive an ARC copy of this book to honestly review.

The explosive conclusion to this thrilling trilogy finds Annie fighting for her life and her sister.

Everything seems to be falling into place as Annie and John plan their future together, but her distrust for her newfound sister hangs over them, as well as the series of missing hikers on the Gitchi Gami trail. A fast paced read that picks up right where the previous book left off, I loved seeing how far Annie and John have come, as well as how they have grown in meeting challenges as a team.

After the previous books, Sarah was pretty hard to like, but I think that she won me over in this final installment. It was good to see her think through some things, and decide that she wanted to try to do better.

Overall, a tension filled thriller, with seriously twisted bad guys and finally some answers about what happened so many years ago. An engaging read that was hard to put down, with great relationship building, redemption, action, faith, and family.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This was a great read! Coble is on point as ever in this third installment of the Annie Peterson series. It kept me guessing to the end, and had a satisfying resolution.

I always enjoy Coble’s books, and this one is no exception.

LEO Annie Pederson is hunting the man hunting her sister.
This is part of a continuing series - and a lot of references, without a lot of explanation, of past events is continually included as the story progresses which is difficult to follow if you have not previously read the preceding stories in the series.
Which, unfortunately, I have not.
The story has suspense, a touch of romance with the relationship between Annie and the father of her daughter but again, a lot of this is referenced from a previous story,
It is suspenseful, characters are well developed with great attention.
I have enjoyed other Coble stories more, but I really do need to go back and read Annie's story from the very beginning,

Break of Day

by Colleen Coble

I strongly encourage readers who enjoy Christian suspense to read the three part Annie Pederson series. As a mystery fan, I rarely read thrillers, only reading suspense that I think will be more mystery than psychologically creepy. This series walks the border for me, but the violence is not graphically depicted and evil is called out for what it is. I really liked Edge of Dusk (#1 in the series), but was not as enamored with Dark of Night (#2 in the series). This last book in the series blew me away. There were surprises right and left and lots of character development. Character motivations, both good and bad, were revealed.

Annie’s daughter Kylie, that I didn’t much care for in Dark of Night, was not an active character in this third book, but concern for her and her safety was appropriately inserted. Relationships were fractured and healed. Roadblocks rose up and were gradually dismantled through trust in God.

The focus of the book was the horrible hunting of innocent tourists and hikers as a game. This thread began in the first book, but was central to Break of Day. Annie’s law enforcement skills, outdoor survival tactics, nautical expertise, stamina, protectiveness, and moral character make her a protagonist to be admired and applauded. The themes of forgiveness and trust in God are woven throughout the tale as sisters Annie and Sarah relive past traumas and learn that their love for each other trumps previous hurts and mistakes.

There is beautiful symbolism of God’s faithfulness in a goldfinch he sends to reassure Kylie in a moment of crisis. Other symbolism is found in the darkness of the forest when Annie and Sarah are being hunted. They couldn’t tell which way to go because they couldn’t see the sun. They needed God to shed light on the situation and give direction.

I have to give a shout out to the dogs in the series. Samson is a search and rescue dog whose skills in Edge of Dusk are amazing. In Break of Day Sarah rescues Scout who later provides comfort and help to her. Samson’s pup Milo causes some welcome humorous chaos as this serious series draws to a close.

Rating: 5/5

Category: Mystery & Thriller, Romance, Women’s Fiction

Notes: 1. #3 in the Annie Pederson Novels. I recommend reading this series sequentially and close together time wise. Each book is a continuation of the prior book and will be best enjoyed if read as a unit.

Publication: July 4, 2023—Thomas Nelson

Memorable Lines:

“How many times does the Bible say ‘Fear not’? Enough times that we know God doesn’t want us to cower in our homes. And I’m not going to do it. What kind of example would that be for Kylie? I want to model courage not cowardice.”

“There’s room for all of us. Love is like that. It doesn’t matter how many people you love, there is always room for more.”

She found it hard to believe anyone could be so twisted and cruel. Evil was the real word. There was evil in the world, and the three of them faced it right now.

Break of Day is the final book in the Annie Pedersen suspense trilogy and it does not disappoint. Kidnapping of hikers is still happening even with main suspect in jail. Meanwhile, she is trying to keep her newly found sister Sarah safe and how to proceed with her relationship with Jon will go.
Suspense is great in this book as the last part of book wraps up the trilogy's story lines. The organizer behind the kidnapping/murders was a complete surprise to me and will be to most readers. The book does get a little darker than I like and may be too much for some readers.
I also love that the series is back in beloved Rock Harbor, Coble's iconic series and we get to catch up with our favorite characters. Coble adds a few storylines that aren't essential to the story and I find them confusing to main story. An example is Jon finding out his former business partner committed euthanasia on patients-it was not needed for story.
Christian fiction lovers will love Colleen Coble's new trilogy and will want to read all of them!
I received a complimentary copy of Break of Day thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, but all opinions are my own.

This police procedural is balanced with faith. Annie Pederson has been hunting a killer in the forest. It is great plot with wonderful characters. The story is not only trying to find the killer but focused on the second chance relationship between Annie and Jon.

If you're looking for a book that will make your heart race and your mind rush to find the answers to the mystery, this final book in the Annie Pedersen trilogy is just what you're looking for!

Annie's life has been a daily struggle since the sudden deaths of her husband and her parents in a boating accident. She's been struggling to stay afloat as a law enforcement officer and raise her young daughter without a father, but now that her daughter's biological father is back in Annie's (and Kylie's) life, things are looking up. She's finally feeling like happiness might be in her grasp and she might just get a second chance at love. Until she becomes the hunted. Someone wants her dead, and Annie is about to become the hunted instead of the hunter.

I think this was my favourite of the series. Each page was jam-packed with excitement and the plot wasn't something I've seen in a novel before. I still love Jon's character and his unrelenting love for Annie and their daughter, and he just keeps getting better as a hero. Annie's commitment to making the world a better place for her family while still taking time to enjoy her life is good to see. The side characters are also fantastic, and I finally even started to like Annie's sister by the end of the story.

If you enjoy fast-paced romantic suspense, you won't want to miss this series.

THIS IS THE FINAL BOOK IN THIS SERIES AND WHAT AN INTERESTING BOOK IT WAS.... This third book did not disappoint and left me wanting Coble to return us to Rock Harbor one day. Her books are so masterfully written that I am always looking forward to the next book. Annie is still hurting from her sister's betrayal but is trying to move on in her relationship with her child's father. But people are being killed in hunting accidents and something just doesn't seem to add up. Is it really accidents? Surely it cannot be deliberate and if it is... why? This was sometimes hard to fathom as you realize what is really going on. I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed completely my own.

What a rollercoaster ride and a great guessing game!
I loved every minute of this book!
I love how Coble pulls you in from page 1 and doesn't let go until the last page is turned.
Lots of twists and turns that I definitely didntnsee coming which made it that much more exciting!
5 stars for an excellent and exciting story! One I'll be thinking about long after Annie's story is over.
She's truly an amazing character. I liked her from the get go. Always the protector or tries to be.
I did read the Rock Harbor series which I loved so I was excited to see again. However briefly.
Coble just has a way of letting you "visit" places without ever leaving the comfort of your home.

Annie Pederson has not had it easy. She has experienced tragedy and heart break and is raising her young daughter on her own. She loves her job in law enforcement.
Jon is her daughter's biological father, which neither of them realized until after the death of Annie's husband. Annie and Jon have reconciled their differences and love each other very much. Their daughter is much slower to accept him and only learns he is her biological father in this story. They assure her that her deceased 'dad' will always be her dad and they want to keep his memory alive to her.
Annie's sister, Sarah, is one messed up woman who in the previous book kidnapped Annie's daughter. Sarah, herself, was kidnapped as a young girl by a deranged woman. Annie and her parents never knew if Sarah was dead or living somewhere.
Throw in people who kidnap and hunt young women for sport and you have quite the tangled web in this story!
I was given an advanced ecopy by the publisher, Thomas Nelson through Netgalley. I was under no obligation to leave a positive review.
