This is the third in this series so I highly recommend reading the other two first. Loved LEO Annie Pedersen and her grit and determination. There are lots of characters and side stories that make the book challenging. Even though, I'd read the previous books, it was hard to keep some things straight. A list of characters with a short description would be helpful. A satisfying conclusion to a complex mystery.
This is the third in a trilogy that continues the story of the inhabitants of Rock Harbor.
LEO, Annie is finally ready to settle down and get her happily ever after but there are some hurdles she and her fiancee must get through before that can happen. I enjoyed the original Rock Harbor story with Bree and her rescue dog Samson better and the first book in this trilogy was my favorite but there were still things I enjoyed about this one.
I liked the complicated relationship story arc with Annie and her long lost sister and I adored the character of Anu. I also love stories that include rescue dogs!
I appreciated the themes of forgiveness, fear and faith.
I really enjoyed the beginning of the main relationship and how it unfolded and the complications that arose in the first two books and it was satisfying to see its conclusion.
If you are looking for a quick, clean romantic suspense read with a good dose of faith throughout then you may enjoy this series by Colleen Coble.
Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read it in exchange for my honest thoughts.
Break of Day is the final book in the Annie Pederson series and boy did the author end it with a bang! I enjoyed this series very much and I loved how it all came together in the end. I had no idea who the bad guy was and I was totally surprised. I was hanging on the edge of my seat throughout the novel and I stayed up late to finish it. I truly recommend it to all romantic suspense lovers who love happily ever afters and a message of hope.
*I was given a copy of this book by Thomas Nelson and this is my honest opinion.
Break of Day is the third and final book in the Annie Pederson series by Colleen Coble. These books are best read in order to get the full story, but you could read this one alone and not feel completely lost. The twists and turn of this story will grab you from the get-go. The book jumps right in and never stops, and I enjoyed the fast pace! The character are well written and I enjoyed the scenery as well. I also really love how the author weaves in faith throughout the storyline. It's very organic and not pushy or disjointed. Just a natural part of the characters lives. It's a well written story that will keep you entertained and is quite enjoyable!
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
Break of Day is the the third book in the Annie Pederson series by Colleen Coble. It works well as a standalone, but with only three exciting books, why not start with the very first one?
First off, this is a Christian fiction book, so don't expect to find any play-by-play racy sex scenes or bad language. And while the book isn't overly filled with religious messages, the characters are Christian, so you will find prayer mentioned.
The characters in this series are well developed, facing personal and job related issues that they don't always know how to move forward with. Moreover, because of Annie's job they are searching for answers to what happened to missing women. When things go wrong with their search, they end up in a very difficult situation.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who likes a good thriller.
This is the third book in the Annie Pederson series. I highly recommend that they be read before reading this book. Also, they need to be read fairly close together. I read the first two book in the series when they came out. When I started to read this book I felt like I had walked into the middle of a movie. I sort of knew what was going on. It took me a while to figure out who was who and where they fit into the story. It was mentioned that Jon was injured but not how or why. A short blub would have been helpful to refresh my memory. The relationship between characters wasn't clear either unless you've read the first two book.
After I figured out the characters again and the story line, the book held my interest in a typical Colleen Coble book. The villian was a complete surprise surprise and I never guessed who it was.
I would have given this book a 4 star rating if not for confusing beginning I mentioned previously.
I received this book from Thomas Nelson Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
Why is it that when we finally think we have ‘it’ all together, life throws us a curveball?!
Same for Annie - just when her life is getting back on track, she needs to ‘rescue’ her sister again. I loved the tension of the hunter becoming the hunted. Edge of my seat tension.
I was glad to get back to Rock Harbor and get closure but was sad to have read the final installment in the Annie Pederson trilogy.
I could have done with a recap of book two because I was struggling to remember what happened and this definitely jumps in where book two left off. Regardless, I soon caught up and raced through the remainder of the book. I loved Coble’s unpredictable twists, her faith message and her reminder about trust and forgiveness.
I can’t wait to see what Coble has lined up for her next book!
I was gifted this copy by Thomas Nelson and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
I loved book three of Annie Pederson romantic suspense novels! Following Park Service Ranger Annie into her latest adventures was mind boggling and entertaining. You fall in love with the characters and realize a story of redemption is unfolding between the pages. A great read you will not want to see ending!
Break of Day wraps up the captivating Annie Pederson series in a big way. The suspenseful, multi-layered plot, with a memorable Lake Superior setting, drew me in from the beginning and held me fast to the satisfying end. The characters are diverse and realistic. I love the way Annie and Jon’s second chance romance develops amidst difficult and even dangerous circumstances. I appreciate the inspiring spiritual truths of forgiveness and trust woven into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it and the series. I also recommend reading the books in this series in order for the best reading experience.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher with no obligation to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book concludes the series really well. I enjoyed it and i would definitely recommend this series.

When a prisoner escapes, Annie sends those who might be targets to safety. This includes her estranged sister, Sarah, who is sent to stay in the island cabin where their family was vacationing when Sarah was kidnapped. While Annie, Jon and the sheriff try to find the prisoner and those who helped free him, Sarah finds a bloodied jacket and another woman is reported missing. But if the psychopath who organized the previous killings is dead, why are women still disappearing? Annie needs to find answers before the hunters become the hunted.
Highlights for me included survival DIY such as making a compass, and the action-packed time in the forest. While this isn’t my favorite of the trilogy, it is a solid wrap up of both investigative and romantic story lines. It is best read as part of the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
I've honestly struggled with wanting to write this review. I finished the book a couple of days ago, and I'm still at the point where I don't want to have to think about it long enough to get my thoughts out there. However, I do want to go ahead and review it while the story is still fresh in my mind, so I'm going to go ahead and do so.
I want to preface this review by stating that I've been a huge fan of Colleen Coble's books for quite sometime. I've read many of her wonderful books over the years, but the last few releases have not been ones I could find myself recommending. I was hopeful this one would end up being a more positive experience. However, that ended up not being the case, as I can wholeheartedly state that this is my least favorite of her titles ever, and I'm still worried I'm going to wake up with nightmares over how disturbing and creepy the majority of this story is.
I did enjoy that growth was shown by many of the characters, especially Annie and Jon. I particularly enjoyed Sarah, Anu, and Jon's dad throughout this title, as I loved their big hearts, and the way they were determined to make it through their tragic circumstances. The romance was sweet and didn't seem rushed, and instead moved at a believable and realistic plot. If you enjoy suspense that keeps you guessing, then you won't be disappointed on that front either, as this entire story is non stop action from the get go, with plenty of plot twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.
However, none of those factors were enough to redeem this one in my eyes. The mystery was downright disgusting, and the final reveal had me literally shuddering. After finishing this, I felt a heaviness that I've rarely ever felt with fictional titles before, and all I wanted to do was curl up with my Bible. While this one did have a lovely faith element, it wasn't enough to combat the extreme darkness that overlays the entire story.
If you're a fan of Christian suspense, this may be a title you'd enjoy. I issue the warning though that it's darker than anything I've ever read before, especially in a Christian title, and this is coming from someone who gobbles up Christian suspense as fast as I can get my hands on it.
Final Rating: 2/5.
I'm very disappointed in this series as a whole, and I'm not sure if I'll be trying anything new from this author in the future or not.
Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to advance read and review this title!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the publisher (Thomas Nelson) via NetGalley. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.
Break of Day by Coleen Coble
I will admit upfront that I probably wasn’t the target audience for this book. Having said that, I give it three stars hoping others can rate it higher.
The premise is good, though I struggle with a Christian book having a fair portion of the book dedicated to humans hunting to kill other humans. There was, however, was some energy in the chase scenes. Also, the protagonists are not married, so they can’t spend a night together, though they’ve had a child already. Really?
There are so many characters, I had to write them all down to keep it straight. Information straggles in slowly, so it’s up to the reader to put it all together with the slew of names. Then too, there are many stories going on at once, and I felt interrupted when abruptly taken elsewhere on another thread.
I thank #ThomasNelsonFiction and #NetGalley for this title, which will be enjoyed by a specific audience. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Annie is a Law Enforcement Ranger based on Tremolo island. She's engaged to John, the love of her life that's been gone for many years. Now they have a second chance. A special chance, especially since they found out that her daughter Kylie is actually his daughter as well. Annie is fierce in her love and strong in her conviction. She'll do anything it takes to keep her family together and keep them protected. But there are other forces at work and soon she's going to find out just how costly that could be.
This was a great book, full of suspense and twists. And I really liked the development of the characters. I've read a number of books by this author before and I’ve always been pleased with her writing style. This one doesn't disappoint!
I didn't realize this was book 2 in a series. I was very confused without knowing what happened in book one. I will have to re-read this after I read the first book. Seems like it will be very good!
I generally love Colleen Coble books, and this was no exception. My only concern was that I felt that I needed a who’s who list to keep me on track. This was very distracting, and I often had to stop and draw out the relationships between the characters. I would have appreciated a listing of the characters in the front of the book to alleviate these issues. Once I made it through the first half of the book, it was easier to proceed. Part of my problem may have been that this was the third book of a trilogy, and I hadn’t read books 1 or 2. I would advise them to be read in order for a better foundation.
The book is staged in Michigan’s Beautiful Upper Peninsula. The lush dense forestry made for good hiding places for those who didn’t want to be found. The plot and characters were well developed and interesting. As the story unfolded, I learned more about each character, their life history, and the plights that they were facing. I loved the female and male protagonists. Annie, a Law Enforcement Officer who didn’t possess an off switch, and Jon, her life-long love, an orthopedic surgeon who wore his heart on his sleeve. They were both salt of the earth, strong people who gave their all to those they cared for. They were characters to be emulated. It was easy to hate the perceived ‘bad guys’ and root for the ‘good guys.’ However, it was frequently difficult to determine whom fell into each category.
There wasn’t much given away as there were a multitude of twists and turns as the story unfolded. I remained at the edge of my seat throughout the last half of the book, each moment expecting the ‘boogieman’ to appear around the next corner. I felt the fear and anxiety of each character when they were in a precarious situation. I rooted for the ‘good guys’ and wanted to pummel the ‘bad guys.’ It was often difficult to determine which side of the fence each character belonged, and I was sometimes completely fooled. As the safety of children and the vulnerable were often involved, the stakes were imminently higher.
The book is parts mystery, intrigue, and romance. It’s a story of fighting with your whole heart to keep those around you safe and secure. It’s a story of family love, a need to make things right again, and total forgiveness.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it to readers who enjoy books about mystery, suspense, and romance.
I am grateful to Author Colleen Coble, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, and NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to review this Advanced Reader’s Copy. This is a voluntary review, and all comments and opinions are entirely my own.
And so concludes Annie Pederson's story. Of course the story starts with more questions than answers, and more questions come up as the story goes on. By the end, all the loose ends are tied up. Of course there's the continued romance between Annie & Jon, even though it's not main story line. Worth the read.
I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
This was an excellent last installment of this series. This is a continuation of the other two books in the series and makes more sense if the whole series is read. The pacing is well-balanced between the suspense and character development. I personally would have loved to see more of Annie's daughter but understand why she was sent away to keep her safe. I loved the strong characters that they weren't just there waiting to be saved by the other protagonist or that they somehow developed the strength in the moment, that they were both able to use their brains and brawns throughout the book finally culminating in the final "fight". It was also a great story of redemption and forgiveness.
I've read many books by Colleen Coble and have always found them to be fast paced, interesting and hard to put down. This one was no different. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
First, let me say that I love Colleen Coble books. She is an amazing storyteller . I love the intrigue , the suspense and sometimes there’s some romance thrown in there .
Despite loving her books I really struggled with the first third of this book because I couldn’t remember the characters and I didn’t realize it was the last of a trilogy that I may have read one of at some point . That being said I’d highly recommend starting with 1 and 2 .
I loved following Anne and John on their sleuthing through the wilderness to find missing hikers . They are the ones trying to hunt the hikers or is someone trying to hunt them? Find out by reading this book
