This book is the last book in the Annie Pederson trilogy. I have to admit, I didn’t realize this when I began this book, so it took me a minute to feel “caught up” with the characters. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this book very much and found the story really drew me in. The characters were interesting and the plot had enough suspense and mystery to keep me invested throughout. I think I may need to read the two earlier books in the series now to make it complete! I liked the Annie Pederson character, she is a law enforcement ranger in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She is a strong character- a good investigator, a mother, who fights for her family and her friends. I give this book 4 stars out of 5.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have been a fan of Colleen Coble for a while now and that won’t be changing today! Break of Day was a perfect ending to this trilogy. There were so many twists and turns and even a few things that caught me totally off guard that left my jaw hanging!
What an amazing story! I have always loved Ms Coble’s books but this one is probably the best. There are so many twists and turns and a surprise “bad guy”. There’s romance along with the intrigue of the many story lines that fit right in with the main mystery. Ms Coble does a superb job of describing the Lake Superior area as well as making the characters real. This book drew me in and wouldn’t let go. I literally could not put it down! I can’t recommend this book and the series enough. My suggestion is to read the books in order to know the back story. Although it may be the last book in this series I am hoping it’s not. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Break of Day, the final installment in the Annie Pederson Novels, is a jam packed series finale. This one brings new adventures to Annie and Kylie. It also wraps up some mysteries that have been plaguing the UP throughout the series.
Coble took readers through the forest and across Lake Superior as LEO Pederson works to once again find her beloved sister and escape the dangers of being hunted herself.
I found this journey to be a bit creepy and creative all at the same time. There were some surprises and sorrows. Ultimately I was thankful to realize my judge of character was on track with all that was revealed in these pages.
I enjoyed this series. I look forward to the release of this finale and hearing what others take from this well crafted finale.
Thank you, NetGalley and Thomas Nelson, for the opportunity to read this series. All opinions are my own.
Finally!!! The amazing and fantastic conclusion to the Annie Pederson series. There are so many layers to this series and the characters are perfectly blended. Annie has been through so much and still refuses to compromise who she is or what she believes. As a LEO, she will not back down from what is right, personally, or professionally. The bad guys in this story are quite evil indeed. Twisted and cruel. Sarah goes missing and Annie follows the trail, which absolutely leads them into trouble. Kylie was absent for most of this book, which was fitting. I liked getting to focus a little more on Annie and Jon without Kylie’s own hurt in the midst of it. They have such a powerful story of second chances and are truly better together than apart. Rock Harbor always feels like a welcome home, so it is great to catch glimpses of old characters. While it was easier for me to figure out the culprit in this one, I think it was more about exposing the bigger picture and the master mind behind it. Welcome back to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. You will not be disappointed!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.
This is the 3rd Installment in the story of Annie and John.
Annie Pedersen is a law enforcement ranger and widow. She has a young daughter, Kylie. She is trying to run the Tremolo Resort and Marina in Rock Harbor left to her by her father as well as do her job and be a great mom. Jon Dustan, Annie's former love comes back to help his ailing father and fix up his cottage for sale. Together they get embroiled in the mystery that is occurring at the resort and in Annie's enforcement area.
I enjoyed this story and always read anything that shows up from Colleen Coble. She's a favorite author of mine.
I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.
Such a great third and final book in this trilogy. Loved the ending for the characters, as well as all the back stories. I was sad to see this series end. I Highly recommend the book, but would grasp it better if you read the first two proper to reading this one.
I am looking forward to what this author writes next.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Thanks so much to Thomas Nelson and NetGalley for an advance read in exchange for this review.
This is the 3rd and final book in the Anne Pederson trilogy. I didn't even bother reading the blurb and requested it immediately when I saw it was available!
Anne is an LEO and her life is moving along after various tragedies. Her sister may be in danger and is moved into hiding after someone escapes. Anne is also investigating missing hikers. Somehow her personal and professional life collide again.
This was another great book in the series. Colleen Cable has written such wonderful characters. Anne is. a badass but also someone who is kind and caring. I loved reading about how everyone in the community knew each other. I'm sad that this is the end of the trilogy. Maybe they will pop up again in another book.
I wanted to comment on the author's note at the end where she mentioned her mother had passed away due to Alzheimers shortly after the book was finished. I'm so sorry to read that, and may her memory be a blessing.
Law enforcement officer Annie Pederson’s life has been full of tragedy, but things finally seem to be heading in the right direction. Her relationship with the love of her life—who’s also the biological father of her precious daughter—has never been better. She’s also slowly building back trust with her sister, Sarah, after a separation that has lasted for decades. When a man escapes law enforcement custody and Sarah’s safety is suddenly in question, Annie’s personal and professional lives once again merge. Meanwhile, her investigation of hikers who have gone missing in the remote woods of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula puts her in the crosshairs of a deadly game. Now, Annie is the one being hunted. When she discovers the terrible truth about the men who are stalking her, she realizes that she’s in for the fight of her life if she’s going to redeem the sister she once lost, build the family she dreams of, and keep all those she loves safe.
This is the third in the outstanding Annie Pederson series. I read the first one in my Book Club and liked it so much that I have now read the other two. The author writes so well and describes the UP so well, you feel like you are in the forests or on the beach with the characters. Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for granting my request for this book. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes romantic suspense, but I do recommend reading them in order as each book builds on the previous one.
Wow! Quite a story!! Very disturbing in some ways. Good ending for most characters. Reminds me of the short story i read in high school called The Most Dangerous Game! If you haven't read the first two books, you should read them before reading this.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance e-copy of this book! All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
:"Break of Day" was another exciting read by Colleen Coble! I don't think I've ever read a book by Colleen Coble that I haven't loved! This is part of a series and although there are characters from the other books, this one could still be read alone. This one follows Annie, Jon and their families and friends. The subject was different than any other book I've read, and there was a huge twist near the end! I highly recommend this book and all of Colleen Coble's books. You won't be disappointed!
I received this book from the publisher for my honest opinion.
It's always satisfying to get to the end of a series.
This was an INTENSE book. Really creepy and demented. Things are happening that lead Annie closer to wrapping up the case of what has been going on in the woods. The closer she gets, the higher the stakes.
I suspected a certain someone very early on. Wow. There are just some crimes and ways of doing crimes that seem extra evil somehow.
This is a very good conclusion to the series and the themes of forgiveness and reconciliation are strong. I really liked that aspect of the story. Jon's issues from his former practice seemed to kind of be left hanging, but it's not a big deal in the overall story.
Really enjoy the Annie Peterson series by Colleen Coble. "Break of Day" is as good as the other two books.
I would love to have more but I think this is the last one of this series.
The story was good and for me fast pace. I had to make myself stop reading to sleep or do other adult stuff. :)
Great book
#BreakofDay #NetGalley.
A thrilling conclusion to a fantastic series! Full of heart pounding drama & suspense that will keep you riveted until the shocking end. Completely captivating to keep you turning pages long into the night.
Annie is still reeling from the betrayal of her sister, but when danger comes knocking once again, she realizes Sarah could be in danger. As Annie & Jon work with Mason to uncover the danger targeting their beloved town, they must look deep to cover secrets from the past.
This book did not disappoint and left me hoping Ms. Coble returns us to Rock Harbor one day to catch up with old friends. Her books are so masterfully written that I am always left anxiously awaiting the next book.
I was give a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed completely my own.
What a fitting end to an exciting trilogy! It took me a minute to get reacquainted with all of the characters but once I did, I was all in! It was so fun to be with Annie and Jon again. The suspense had me as well and the romantic side of Jon was so fun to see!
Thanks so much to netgalley and the publisher. The opinions are my own.
Break of Day by Colleen Coble returns to Rock Harbor and the story saga of Annie Pederson. Since Annie has been the heroine for the previous two books, she felt like an old friend to catch up with. It was nice to see some good things happen to her. Of course, there are struggles that she must overcome. Her sister, Sara, has a commanding role in this story. Nicely developed characters. As for the plot, the climactic moment has been done in Criminal Minds, I believe. I know that I have seen it on one of those crime shows. The concept was not original, but the how the moment ended was different than the television series, and I enjoyed that aspect of it. It was nicely paced and full of action. I kept flipping through the pages. As for the romance, Annie comes closer to having her happily-ever-after moment. In this plot, Annie’s daughter, Kylie conveniently goes away with some friends for the week. It was nice because Annie needed to focus on her budding relationship and what that means for the future instead of worrying about what would happen to her daughter. Overall, Break of Day by Colleen Coble is a good conclusion to the series, and I wonder what Coble will come up with next.
I received a complimentary copy of Break of Day by Colleen Coble from Thomas Nelson Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
Ella at eighteen the choices she was making, some were good and some were not.
Finds herself in trouble in her kayak, help.came but not what she wanted
Annie life is almost perfect for her, the love for the father of her child.
Building trust with her sister, after decades apart. As a law officer notified of lost hikers,
then finding her own life was in danger when she knew who they were.
A good series that is filled with twists, family and love. Readers will enjoy
Given ARC by Net Galley and Thomas Nelson for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Break of Day kept me on the edge of my seat as I raced through the chapters to see how it would all turn out—both this book’s crisis and the greater mysteries that were developed throughout the trilogy. I nodded knowingly when a character I’d been suspicious of turned out to be a bad guy and I breathed a sigh of relief when I read the last page of this gripping suspense trilogy. Colleen Coble’s characters are so memorable, I’ll be a bit sad to say goodbye to Annie Pederson and the rest of these folks from Rock Harbor. But perhaps we’ll meet them in another of Colleen Coble’s books sometime!
Due to a personal difference in beliefs (WITH THE PUBLISHER) I will not be reviewing this book outside of Netgalley nor do I plan to support Thomas Nelson in the future due to their decisions of late and the lack of fiction with good Biblical values.
This does not mean I do or do not like the book, it just means I will not be reviewing books for this publisher anymore as I do not care to support them when I do not agree with the way they have left their former standards.
I always love Colleen Coble and this book isn't any different. However, I will say that it seemed to take about half way through the book before much of the mystery and excitement happened in this book. I was glad to see the conclusion of the human hunting ring and Sarah and Annie reconciling.
