I've loved getting into TMNT comics last year, and though I'm not the target demographic for these particular comics I still enjoyed them for what they were.
This is a spoiler free review.
As a child in the 80’s I loved watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The song was so catchy, the animation was awesome, and every episode had great action. This cartoon had it all and left you waiting for the next show.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Saturday Morning Adventures Vol 1 is terrific. Every issue made me laugh and is full of action and turtle hi-jinx. Kids and big kids like me will love this series. I can’t wait to find Volume 2.
My only suggestion is making an audio digital version of this series. Something like an audio book but a comic book version of that. What I mean is you can buy the entire volume of the comic series but as you read the comic there is a sound and music option. Where you can hear sound effects during the action and you hear the Turtles theme sound on a loop every time you open a new page. I think you could get a lot of adults who watched the show as children who would buy that.
Marvel Unlimited has a few issues of Captain America that has sound effects attached to the comic. It could be something fun to look into.
If you are a fan of the TMNT 1980s show then please read this series!.
Stay awesome and keep reading!
Very cute addition to a classroom library for fun reading time. Great little bit of nostalgia and humor. Who doesn’t love the Ninja Turtles?!
A fun set of stories that brought me back to watching Saturday morning cartoons as a child!
4 Stars
I was excited for this book because I always feel nostalgic of my childhood and I love reading new stories about old, favorite characters. This Volume has 4 stories that really transport you back in time, but still feel current and fresh. In the first story, I really loved seeing all the villains and simply enjoyed the wave of nostalgia. The second story was probably my least favorite because it seemed so weird, but I still enjoyed the vibe of it. The third story was so interesting to read. I especially loved the big boss fight. And the last story was so fun and probably my favorite. Big “Fantastic Voyage” feelings and I really loved that! The art is amazing throughout and it felt like watching some cartoons of the past. I can’t wait to read more of this series!
This book contains 4 entertaining stories that offer variety, humor, and a good time for Turtle fans or new comers. My two favorite stories were: the story about the Ninja Turtles getting stuck in a VR simulation where they had to beat video games full of their classic enemies, and the story where the Ninja Turtles had to take on a super powered Casey Jones, who is normally on their side. As a long time Ninja Turtles fan, I enjoyed seeing appearances from villains I remembered from my childhood. The artwork was amazing, and I loved looking for Easter Eggs, such as Game Boys, that littered the backgrounds. This was an excellent graphic novel and I am definitely looking forward to more Saturday Morning Adventures!
Thank you Negalley, Erik Burnham, and producers for gifting me a copy of this graphic novel in return for my honest opinion.
4/5 stars
Teenage mutant ninja turtles, Teenage mutant ninja turtles, Teenage mutant ninja turtles, Teenage mutant ninja turtles!!!!!!!!
This was a blast from the past! I was so happy when I was approved I forgot how fun they were to watch or in this case, read. There were so many sassy moments that had me laughing as I was reading. For example, when the villain is complaining about not working with competent henchmen they reply by saying "Have you ever thought about profit sharing" and "or at least dental." Such great comebacks!
This graphic novel is broken down into 4 adventures that the turtles have to go on. Whether it be getting stuck in a VR game, protecting a scientist, tracking a power sucking creature, or saving Master Splinter. They were very entertaining and quick stories that were fun to read. If you are a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle fan this would be a great read for you.
Boy does this take me back. The Turtles are back in action and better than ever. Great art and writing. Super fun to follow along with the Turtles as they fight the bad guys once again! Love it
from what i could read of the PDF (publisher was not friendly with the graphic novel format) it gave a good feel for that old ninja turtles that I grew up loving and would love to share with patrons at the library
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures is total blast. It's full of all the characters we know and love. The artwork is great as that 80's vibe but it's updated. The story was fun and leave you wanting more. I loved it! So much fun!
This brings me back to my childhood! I used to love watching TMNT on Saturday mornings, while eating cereal in an oversized t shirt as a "night gown" 🤣 it makes me happy that my daughter has a love for the classic characters as well. Her imaginary friend is even Leo from the movies/show 😃
If you grew up in the mid-late 80's and were obsessed with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles like I was, then this will be a fun escape for you that reminds you of simpler times. The art and humor is so in line with the show that I grew up with that I can hear the dialogue in my head. Storywise it's also pretty similar, every issue is self-contained so there's not really a need to go in order. I don't see it being something I'd pick up consistently, but it was a fun nostalgia trip.
It's Saturday morning. Your hair is is a mess, your still in your pyjama's, sleep is still caught in the corner of your eyes. You sit down in front of the TV, bowl of cereal in your hands careful not to spill, and turn it to your channel. You're ready to scarf down breakfast as you watch Mikey, Donatello, Leo, and Rafael fight Shredder all all his evil side kicks who you hope won't be able to best them because they have Turtle Power!
Feeling nostalgic yet? Because that's all this is, saturated on every page. Is it perfect? No, but the turtles aren't perfect either! It's fun, it's childhood, it's good art and sometimes silly antics. There's clever moments thrown in randomly (breaking the fourth wall made me chuckle) but in the end, it's the 90s Saturday cartoon I grew up loving.
If you loved it then, you'll love this now.
Cowabunga, dude!
Cute art, it reminds me of the old Saturday cartoons, which was the goal. It is everything you want in a Ninja Turtles nostalgia book. I laughed so much at Cowabunga. Very cute book for both kids and those of us old enough to have watched the first movie.

If you are a fan of the Original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles than this is for you! The art is spot on and colorful! The voices of the characters and their banter amongst each other is exactly as I remembered it to be. It’s not a long read, and great if you are looking for an afternoon of nostalgia.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.
It wasn’t bad. It was fine, which just reinforced my feeling of it being a nostalgia-based attention/cash grab.
These are fun stories! I enjoyed the artwork, especially in the first one. This brings back nostalgia from my childhood.
I grew up with the original TMNT cartoons, so for me reading this was like stepping back into my childhood, the artwork is good and matches the TV show, so much so, that without even meaning to I was narrating these stories in my head with the voices from the show.
The writing was the exactly the same as the show also, even down to Bebop saying sodey-pop instead of soda pop, I loved it.
If you loved the original show, you will love this.
*Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.*
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was a blast from the past! It took me straight back to the 80’s and 90’s. The drawings and coloring reminded me of the 80’s style. Definitely a fun read!
A massive punch of nostalgia straight to the brain!.. Really, this is a fun throwback for fans of the original TMNT 80's/90's cartoon or for anyone in need of a quick dose of dad jokes, likeable villains, and fresh pizza topping/combo ideas.
This comic has the same art style, tone and humour as the old 80s show. It's exactly what I was hoping it'd be. I enjoyed it.
