Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for granting me free access to the advanced digital copy of this book.
I'm not really a huge my little pony fan, but this looked interesting to me. and I'm always willing to branch out and read things that are new to me. The art is on point and the stories are very cute. I imagine that lots of MLP fans will be very happy with this graphic novel.
I love My Little Pony and I love Little Women. Little Women is one of my favorite classics. I loved this retelling. I thought it was so cute. The art was so beautiful. I loved the little intricacies that were added to the original story and I loved how the original was made to fit My Little Pony. I hope they do other classics! Thank you to NetGalley and IDW Publishing for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this Graphic novel book with all of the characters within. The main character was rainbow dash.
Rainbow dash and her friends have dreams that want to do. They are all excited to try them. So we follow all the ponies throughout that story and see them fill their dreams.
This was an fun story to read. It had action, adventure and drama throughout. It had a few giggles within. The illustrations were very colorful.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
I couldn’t finish this book. It was just a little too strange for me to place the ponies in the world of Little Women. I know that kids who like the ponies would enjoy this book though. Because of the age range for this book, it would probably be more of an introduction to the story, so most kids won’t have the same experience I did while reading.
Little Women retold as My Little Ponies in the best way. This graphic novel breaks the 4th wall on several occasions, makes snarky references about going off script from the original Little Women plot and alludes to other stories and history. I was pleasantly surprised by the elevated language in this graphic novel as well. I loved how each pony was cast into the characters from the classic and efforts were made to make their attire to match the time periods.
If you like My Little Pony (my first love as a kid) and you like retellings of classic novels -> this is the graphic novel for you!
Super Cute, Any one that like My little pony would love this comic. Very colorful
*I got this comic from NetGalley to review, With my own Honest opinion. *
This is such a strange retelling, not cause it was badly done, but just because I didn't think about MLP being a platform to retell classics with.
When I saw this graphic novel on Netgalley, I knew I had to give it a go as it combined not only a favourite trope of mine - Classics Reimagined but also two of my favourite things - My Little Ponies and Little Women. Lately, I had been thinking a lot about Little Women as I recently read the book "Hello Beautiful" by Ann Napolitano which covered the same theme of being loosely based on Little Women. In My Little Pony - Little Fillies we have our My Little Ponies Rainbow Dash, Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, and Rarity who appear in the book as the famous March sisters - Beth, Amy, Jo, and Meg. We also have Applejack as Laurie and Pinkie Pie as the girl's mum Marmee. This was a cute and fun read and if you want to get your young daughters into the classics and need an introduction that isn't as daunting as the actual novels, then Little Fillies novel is perfect for girls aged 6-10 years old as with the characters as My Little Ponies - it appeals to their interests and then with the fact it's a graphic novel, it makes it easier to read and more enjoyable than staring at a lot of random words on a page.
Also if they do find themselves loving the story, then you can move them onto the actual book as the story has already captured their attention. I am a proud supporter of using graphic novels to encourage reading, especially for some of those books that can be daunting or not normally their interests. I look forward to seeing what other Classics Reimagined the Little Ponies will do - maybe some Austen or Brontes or other stories like Heidi, Pollyanna, and Anne of Green Gables.
Loved reading this with my girls! This is an amazing My Little Pony version of the iconic Little Women! This book really teaches the young reader how to work through their feelings. The story line is so close to the original novel just made easier for the young reader to understand. I am not sure who enjoyed this more, me or my 5 & 10 year old!
Thank you Netgalley, the publisher and author for my ARC!
Thanks NetGalley and IDW Publishing for access to this cute and nostalgic arc!
This was such a cute and quick read. I've loved My Little Pony and Little Women since the 90s, and this combination was very cute! I enjoyed the story, even if it felt a bit rushed, but that's to be expected lol!

This is a my little pony version of little women! Little women is my all time favorite book and my daughter loves my little pony! This was a perfect mix of both. This a lovely book that focuses on each characters feelings and experiences. I think books like these are important for the younger generation because it teaches them to work through their feelings. The storyline is very close to the original, just simplified for a younger audience. The graphics were beautiful and all the little details really made the paged pop. I would recommend this book for ages 6-8, especially for graphic novel lovers!

I will start by saying that even though I love Little Women (book not movies) and tend to read most adaptations of the book when I see them, I'm not actually a fan of any adaptation. Well, I've met a few I like but most just leave me wanting something, well, more. And this was definitely in the category of ones that fell short. The artwork is fine, although not as sharply drawn as I expect from the MLP books (are they graphic novels or comic anthologies?) and the story just didn't work for me. There were some elements that were fun, especially because the characters were very much aware they were in a book within their stories at times. But I found myself having to figure out where in the book the action was taking place and that got harder and harder the deeper into the story I got. In part, that's because it has been ages since I read the book. But also because the ponies don't really translate well into a classic like this. It was neat how Rainbow/Jo sold the colour in her mane to help the family instead of selling her hair. But it felt very forced. And again, maybe that's because MLPs have a big element of magic underpinning everything about them (cutie marks, unicorns, flying ponies, and actual magic - Discord) and Little Women does not except in Jo's fantasy world. But I will stop here.
If you are a fan of MLP and enjoy Little Women, you may have fun with this one. if you're a fan of Little Women and hate retellings, I'd skip the MLP version.
Within the first couple of pages I felt this book may be for a little older than my daughter she's currently 7. There was some words and actions that made me question if I should stop reading it to my daughter. With that said maybe for a little older crowd they would know right from wrong and be able to enjoy the book throughout those things. It was a comic book setting and we very much enjoyed the in detail illustrations. I finished reading the book by myself, I could see someone enjoying this book it was wasn't right for our household.
My daughter ~ I liked The pictures in the book and that it was a comic book. I did have to ask my mom during the book if it was appropriate for me so we decided to stop reading it. I was really sad because I love my little pony books and was really excited to read this. It was different than the normal books and the characters were different than im used to.
Although this wasn't the book for us we know that the Author worked very hard and put so much time into it.
A must read book for the young, or young at heart My Little Pony fan.
With classic characters and lots of adventure, it's a sure fire winner and a great addition to any bookshelf.
I love the idea of this story. Little Women is one of my favorite classics that I have read so many times, so I am frequently curious about adaptations.
I think you need to be at least somewhat familiar with both source materials to have any idea of what is going on. I have only watched a bit more than one season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, so I have a cursory grasp of the characters and their voices and foibles.
Some of the ponies fit their respective characters well. (Rainbow Dash as Jo and Fluttershy as Beth especially) but others were much more of a leap. (Pinkie Pie as Marmee in particular, and Applejack gave Laurie a valiant try, but the missing romantic elements were felt - by me, at least)
As well as being an adaptation, it is, of course, much shorter than the massive tome of Little Women, so things occasionally felt a bit rushed, but it was a fun, silly romp.
Recommended for MLP fans (but at least watch one of the Little Women movies first) and a little less Recommended for LW fans unless you are a Pony fan too.
