I like these books, they are dark and eery. As this is just a sampler it leaves me needing the rest. A more fulsome review will follow once I finish it.
This chapter sampler certainly has my full attention! The story feels like there menace around every corner. It involves a sister who feels guilt about her brother who she hasn't seen in two years. She finds herself drawn into the mystery of his most recent life and actions. I can see that perhaps the paths of the sister and the detective cross to solve this mystery. There is an underlying feeling of evil which Alex North is known for. I look forward to the rest of the story!
Thank you so much to the publisher for my early read of The Angel Maker: Chapter Sampler.
Katie is searching for her younger brother, Chris, years after he was brutally stabbed by a notorious serial killer. The killer has also been said to be somewhat of a fortune teller.
I can hardly wait to read the rest of this. It had me gripped from page one. I got to the last page and was screaming for more. Will definitely be reading the rest as well as Alex North's other works.
Thank you so much!
Oh. My. Gosh.
When I first starting reading The Angel Maker, I was convinced I was delving into a YA story about aromance between two teenagers. But when the question arose, "If you could see into the future, would youwant to?" I was intrigued, because who hasn't asked themselves that question?
The story jumps ahead to the future and the mystery ensues - why has a wealthy man let go of his staff justbefore he died? Who murdered him, and did he know it was going to happen?
I can't wait to read the rest of this book, to find out the answers!
This chapter sampler will make you want to pick up The Angel Maker - Alex North's newest release! It's the perfect teaser to make you hooked for his upcoming release.
*received for free from netgalley for honest review* Wow, so there was a lot i didnt see coming, that's for sure. This book had me guessing until the end and unable to put it down!
Huge thanks to NetGalley for my ARC copy of this chapter sampler!
As a big fan of Alex North's The Whisper Man and The Shadows, I was so excited to get my hands on an e-copy of the first few chapters of his latest, The Angel Maker. True to form, this book picks up right away, with a grisly crime committed right in the prologue. As I read through the first seven chapters, the sense of prickly unease grew, with the cast of characters and a second (seemingly unrelated, so far) murder coming in to play. By the end of my short sneak peek into the book, I became hooked! Who killed the philosophy professor? Where is Katie's missing brother Chris, and what does he have to do with the murder? Why did someone attack Chris as a child? Who is driving the ominous "red car?" I can't wait for all of these answers to be revealed when I get a chance to read the full book!
I read the chapter sampler and can’t wait to read the book!!!
Teenaged Katie just wants to have some fun in her life, but a last minute decision ends in a horrific attack on her brother.
Years later, Katie has her own family to worry about, but still worries about her younger brother after what happened to him as a child. And now he’s missing…
Police officers arrive at the scene of a rich man’s murder, to find he had fired all his staff the day before…like he knew what was coming.
The first part of this book definitely sparked my interest. There is a lot of mystery surrounding who these people are and their pasts. I can't wait to read the rest of it!
This is a sampler of The Angel Maker by Alex North and covers all of Part 1. One man waits on Death to come to him. There's a flashback to a terrible crime and a sister searches for her brother. The initial setup feels like this will be another great story from North.
Thank you NetGalley and Celadon Books for the chapter sampler of Alex North’s The Angel Maker. I am so intrigued to read the book in its entirety. I have read books by Alex North and love the writing! When you start reading, you won’t be able to put it down. The story starts 20 years in the past , when, Katie’s brother Chris is attacked one day on his way from school. In the present a professor is also attacked in a similar way. What is the connection? Where is Chris? Can’t wait to see how this unfolds!
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for these sample chapters in exchange for my honest review*
Intriguing - off to a very promising start - can't wait to read the whole book!
I absolutely love Alex North's writing style and he once again did not disappoint! The story was set up well straight out of the gate. I only got the first few chapters and I am dying to read the rest of the book!
Thank you to NetGalley for the chapter sampler of Angel Maker. From what I have read, it looks like a really great thriller and when it comes out I am probably going to purchase! I am giving 3 stars as I have only started and don’t know how will end! Will update after I buy and finish!
Fantastic chapter sampler. As a huge fan of North’s books, I am very excited for this one to come out. Starts out dark and frightening from the first page. I can’t wait to read the entire book.
I really enjoyed the start of this one and am excited to keep reading. I am interested to explore the relationship between sister and brother and the after effects of their past trauma. The mystery surrounding Hobbes death is intriguing thus far. I also like the relationship between the detectives and their banter. I have enjoyed Alex North’s thrillers in the past and I think this one will also not disappoint.
Thank you to Netgalley for the eARC!
