Do i wish this was a full blown book? Yes yes i do but this was the perfect accompanying book to Sorcery of Thorns.
Just a super cute fluffy novella to fill the slump that Sorcery of thorns left.. I really enjoy Margarets writing styles and really enjoyed this read
I loved an Enchantment of Ravens and this gave it a perfect epilogue to the story. It was beautiful, lyrical and enhanting.
This was absolute nonsense fluff that didn’t need to exist. I loved every second.
This world and these friendships are so adorably precious, and any excuse to dive into them is a welcome experience.
(Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review).
Sorcery of Thorns is one of my favourite YA fantasy's, I loved the whole concept and fell in love with all the characters. The ending definitely kept me on my toes and left me with some questions so I was so excited when this novella was announced!
I loved being back with these characters and this world!! Margaret Rogerson transports you back to this magical world after the events that happened in Sorcery of Thorns. Elisabeth is one of my favourite YA female main characters she is strong, brave and caring. I also love the relationship she has with Nathaniel and was interesting seeing them as a couple after the events that happened in the first book. The banter between them is top tier, I was laughing and swooning at the same time.
I loved all the chaotic fun things happening in the book and learning more about the house. The plot for this one was less complex compared to the first book but it makes sense since it's a novella so I didn't mind. The characters are where the book really shines and love that this book gave us a proper goodbye to them.
I can't recommend these books enough and I can't wait to read more by this author.
Thanks to Simon and Schuster (Australia), Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
This is a bite-sized book, a long epilogue of sorts to Sorcery of Thorns. I am so thrilled to have had a chance to read. If you found Sorcery of Thorns to be as wildly entertaining as I did, then you'll love this book.
Nathaniel needs a little push to do something and his sentient house is going to make him do it. With Elisabeth by his side and Silas throwing cryptic remarks here and there,. he finally figures it out.
Such fun. What's next Ms Rogerson? I can't wait to find out.
A very likeable little novella that is more of an extended epilogue than anything. It’s got a slice of life, after the big drama, learning to live a new life feeling that is comforting. With enough romance to satisfy the heart
I will devour any and all Elisabeth/Nathaniel/Silas content Margaret Rogerson chooses to provide - 5/5 Stars, more please!
5 stars
Thanks to NetGalley and Simon and Schuster Australia for an ARC copy. All thoughts are my own.
Initial Thoughts
As a huge fan of both Margaret Rogerson's writing and the Sorcery of Thorns world, I knew coming into this novella that I was in for a treat. What I wasn't expecting was how delightfully romantic and endearing this addition would be.
What's great about this book?
- I love that despite the short page count, we get an entire story from start to finish that faces and resolves the constructed obstacles, whilst retaining the initial charm of the first book. Rogerson has always been fantastic with creating worlds of intrigue and taking the time to build the storyline, so I was a little concerned that a novella may not provide enough space for her to wield her magic. I was completely blown away by how well this novella performs, but also offers some further insight into the overall world. It felt like a gateway into building into something greater - laying down some vital stepping stones so we can perhaps (please, I really hope there is more to come in this world) dive into another adventure of grimoires, demons, sorcery and love.
- The romantic aspect of this book is just so endearing. I was laughing at the wards playing up because of Elisabeth and Nathaniel, and solving the mystery of the unhappy wards was so much fun. This isn't very heavy to read, even if we still have Nathaniel's nightmares and other secrets to uncover, it was like breathing in a little reprieve, whilst Nathaniel and Elisabeth navigated their way through deepening feelings and the magic's answer to them. I liked how the author paid attention to their character traits and didn't create something that felt ingenuine. The banter continued to be top-notch, and I was so pleased to have a little more romance from the pair that we saw budding in the first novel.
- Silas continues to be a fantastic supporting character, and I'm so eager to learn more about him, especially after the epilogue.
Things I didn't quite enjoy
- Nothing to add here!
Final thoughts
If you enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns, then you'll love delving back into the world through this novella. Mysteries of Thorn Manor offers everything Rogerson fans are delighted to read, and I cannot wait for more from this author.
As soon as I saw that there was going to be another story in the Sorcery of Thorns world, it was an immediate yes. Then when NetGalley gave me an e-copy to review, I was over the moon! My only regret from reading this is that it was a novella-I would have loved to read another full book in their story!
The softness, the character development, the continuation of their saga, all worked to answer the question of 'what next' for Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas. I thoroughly recommend for anyone who read the original book and wanted just a little bit more from these characters. Mysteries of Thorn Manor didn't disappoint.
Mysteries of Thorn Manor was such a cozy, cute read. This definitely feels like it should be read in one sitting, in a chair by the fire in Winter. This definitely is the perfect follow up to her previous novel, and a must for fans of "Thorns".
Being a short read, it might have been difficult to connect us enough with everyone, and the romance but Margaret Rogerson has delivered what was one of my top reads for the month. This would have been amazing as a full length novel, but I am keeping fingers crossed that we haven't seen the last of Elisabeth, Nathaniel, and Silas.
It wasn't that long ago I decided to listen to the audiobook of A Sorcery of Thorns. I'd read the book but wanted to see how it sounded on audio. Unfortunately, some aspects of the audio didn't work for me but it led to me rereading the book. It was when I was close to the end again that this novella became available, which gave me the motivation to finish. This book picks up a little while after the first book with Elizabeth settling into life with Nathaniel at Thorn Manor. Silas is back and he's making sure every little thing is taken care of, as usual. Reporters are dogging the manor, looking for any scrap of gossip on the famous residents. But not everything is quite right in the manor. The wards are acting mightly strangely, not allowing the occupants out into the world. And there's to be a ball held at the manor very soon.
This was a fun novella, with some less serious magic at play than in the novel. We get to see a lot more of Elizabeth and Nathaniel as their lives become a bit more domestic although never boring. SIlas is busy being Silas and they have Mercy added to the household to provide a bit of angst for his' need for order and style. I enjoyed revisiting Thorn Manor and these characters in a less dramatic setting.
In all, this was a satisfying and delightful read to follow up the novel. I give it four stars. Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster (Australia) for the advanced reader copy. I am providing this review voluntarily.
Mysteries of Thorn Manor is a fun little companion Novella to a Sorcery of Thorns. A cozy 200ish pages of adorable moments between Nathaniel and Elizabeth we all wanted to see more of. Also, more Salias!!
It takes place a few months after the events of the full length novel, basically an extended epilogue we all wanted. It focuses on the romance between Elizabeth and Nathaniel as they navigate the magical tantrum the house is throwing because they're not ‘commited’ to one another. Did I find the main plot point a bit dated? Yeah. Did I enjoy the house pushing them towards the obvious ending? Also, yes.
I now expect every author to write cute novellas about our favourite characters where they’re happy and not much happens. I love it.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's been a while since I read Sorcery of Thorns (and I probably should have re-read it before picking this up), but I still had a delightful time revisiting this world. Nathaniel and Elisabeth wake to find that one of Thorn Manor's ancestral wards has flared up leaving them, Silas and Mercy trapped inside with no way out. Nathaniel and Elisabeth must figure out who's ward has turned against them and how they can appease it in time for the ball that Nathaniel is supposed to be hosting.
The premise of this story was adorable and it was just nice being back in Nathaniel and Elisabeth's world. Silas was an utter delight, with just enough disturbing creepiness to make me want another full-length book, please and thank you. I loved all the magical hijinks that ensued and the progression of Nathaniel and Elisabeth's relationship. Plus, magical librarians wielding swords always gets two-thumbs up from me!

A lighthearted and humerus end to Sorcery of Thorns.
Certainly one it deserves, though, I’m greedy and still need more from this world - more from Silas especially.
Elisabeth’s strength and morals are never questioned.
Nathaniel’s sense of humour and ability to make light of a situation never ceases.
And Silas.
Silas is just as mysterious as ever. His development and contradicting actions make this story all the more intriguing.
One can only dream of a sequel.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me to read this book in advance! I like how low-stakes novellas are but with characters we already know! I'm glad we got this after the ending of Sorcery of Thorns! This had an air of silliness about it, it all felt a bit ridiculous, but I love Silas for what he set in motion <3
4.5 Stars!
This was just the cutest little extended epilogue ever. It is what every reader hopes for from their favourite universes - a little novella of pure fluff and domestic bliss: drama-free, funny, sweet and so much fun. My darling characters are as cute as I remember, with such a fun relationship and so much love for one another, and every sentence involving my baby Silas filled me with joy. I adored literally everything, and honestly giggled out loud a few times. So fun!!
I was so excited when I got approved for this eARC. Thanks so much @netgalley & @margaret_rogerson providing this Arc in exchange for a review ✨

Mysteries of Thorn Manor is a sequel Novella to Sorcery of Thorns. It was a really cute read. We get to see how Elisabeth & Nathieniel’s relationship evolves amongst a world of magic and traditions. I love that we get to see more of Silas and I’m so curious what happens next with him and his secrets.
I love this world and loved that I got to jump back into it in this instalment. I’m keen to see what come next…
.
Keep an eye out April 5th 2023 for this one!

Who is keen to read this one?!
Thank you to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for an arc of this book. This is my honest review of it.
I honestly think Margaret Rogerson can do now wrong when it comes to telling a story. This novella was just as whimsy and witty as the full novel Sorcery of Thorns, and I loved every second of it.
I loved being able to return to thorn manor and see how the main characters are fairing and to see Nathaniel and Elizabeth’s relationship blossom. Also so glad that Silas has returned safe, and mostly sound.
Rogersons writing is once again full of beautiful prose and flirtatious banter. I love how the characters interact with each other and the new mystery surrounding the manor is so enchanting. This novella is perfectly written, I just wish it had been longer!!
I truly hope we get to see more of this trio in the future! Especially considering the ending of this book!
I will be reviewing this book on Goodreads, Instagram and TikTok in the next few days. You can find me @baileybelgravebooks for all socials!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this novella. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was a quick read, but necessary. If you've read Sorcery of Thorns, this is a must read. It was lovely to get to know all the characters even better. Getting to know some of the many secrets of the house felt inevitable too.
Sounds like there could possibly be another full length novel after this as well.
4.5 stars
Margaret Rogerson delivers again. I had so much fun being back with Nathaniel, Elisabeth and Silas as we explore Thorn Manor, learn more about the Thorn family and try to solve a mystery. The banter, the magic and the vibes were perfect and I really enjoyed the way this book expanded on the romance between our leads, the depth of Nathaniel's magic and the aftermath of what happened in Sorcery of Thorns. The only thing I needed is more. More Elisabeth and Nathaniel, more Silas, more magic and more adventure. Just give me the full sequel, please. If you enjoyed Sorcery of Thorns, you'll definitely love this novella that picks up after the original epilogue.
