This was a really fun and cute addition to Sorcery of Thorns. Whilst I did enjoy the open ending of SoT, this was something special for the fans. It was wonderful to be back with Elisabeth and Nathaniel, as they battle against Thorn Manor for some normalcy. I actually thought it was a cute twist that the house was so determined for them to make a true commitment to each other. The addition of secondary characters like Silas and the new human and ghostly presences in the house was well done and added to the story.

Personally, I'm not one for extensive descriptions of setting, so despite how well these were written, I felt that it prolonged the story unnecessarily. If you are into world-building, then this would interest you. I do concur that the description was somewhat important to the story, but for me, it made things drag.

Overall, a fun read for fans of Sorcery of Thorns. So lovely to see Nathaniel and Elisabeth get their super sweet, well-earned happily ever after.

After the excitement of Sorcery of Thorns, Elisabeth and Nathaniel are enjoying domesticity and their burgeoning courtship. But Thorn Manor is suddenly in chaos - of the magical kind - and if they don't discover what's wrong, they'll be locked inside for good.

I have very lukewarm feelings about the book which precedes this, because it was an underwhelming and samey YA fantasy tale in a market saturated with them. Oddly enough, I really quite liked this novella sequel. I'd say it's actually better, because the plot is simpler and we get to enjoy our time with the characters. And of course there's Silas, who always steals the show.

Thanks the publisher and NetGalley for providing an e-arch in exchange for an honest review.

I read Sorcery of Thorns sometime in mid 2020 and I really enjoyed it and had always planned on re-reading it (which I had planned to do before reading this...) but I was too excited and couldn't wait. I wish I had just to remind myself fully how it ended as I felt a bit confused at the start of this book. But after a few chapters I felt back in the swing of it.

I really enjoyed Mysteries of Thorn Manor and apart from the start, I felt like I was right back in it and was so happy to be with the characters again. I loved how this was just a short novella that gave us some more Elisabeth and Nathaniel (and of course, Silas) interactions. I also enjoyed seeing a little bit more background into Nathaniel and the manor.

I think Margaret Rogerson really nailed this, the characters, cute interactions and storyline made me feel like I was right there with them and fully invested even though the book was so short. Definitely a great and easy read that is a pleasure to read and sure to leave you feeling happy and inspired.

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC!

Margaret Rogerson, you have done it again!! I absolutely LOVED this novella. The banter! The romance! The imagery! I love everything about it. It’s a fairytale in its own right and genuinely just such a joy to read. To be back in Thorn Manor with Nathaniel, Elisabeth and Silas, watching a beautiful friendship AND a beautiful romance unfold was wonderful.

Thank you to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC to review!

Margaret Rogerson can do no wrong in my eyes and this isn't any different - the perfect fluffy novella to follow one of my favourite comfort reads. Rogerson just has this uncanny ability to make her books feel like a warm hug, while still having some bite to them, and I just keep eating it up! Loved seeing more of our faves and my boy Silas <3

My only complaint is I wish this were longer but alas :/

Thank you to NetGally for the arc, in exchange for an honest review 📚.

Elisabeth, Nathaniel & Silas have been trapped inside Thorn Manor. Until they discover what ancient magic source is keeping them prisoner, they cannot leave. They are due to host the city's upcoming Midwinter Ball, which will be made rather difficult if none of their guests can enter their home. Will they be able to find what other secrets Thorn Manor holds in time?

As you can tell by my description of the plot, there are some VERY high stakes in this novella.

This story was charming, cute and cosy. It deserves to be read in a comfy reading chair with tea and scones. It was so heartwarming, and I'm so glad we got to see all these characters living their best lives.

I would like to make it clear that I am completely on the Manor's side of the disagreement.

There is just something about Margaret Rogerson, because for some reason she can NEVER 100% end a story. I'm hoping this means there is a slim slim slim possibly that one day we might read about Thorn Manor and it's occupants again 👀.

I will posting a review of this book on my Instagram, Goodreads and TikTok accounts within the next week. My handle for all of these medias is "Tahliareadstoomuch".
