Read this side by side with my child and we both really enjoyed it, can’t wait to find a copy for ourselves

Twistwood Tales is abso-freaking-lutely adorable. It's cozy. It's cottagecore. It's pure autumnal vibes. These tiny stories present the lives of the large cast of characters who inhabit the twistedly enchanted forest. These slice-of-magical-life snippets are cute and heartwarming on their own, but together, they weave a poignant tale of self-acceptance. In other words, these little comics—most of them just four panels—could stand alone individually, but MacDonald introduces us to the various characters and helps us celebrate their triumphs in such a way that this book is more than the sum of its parts.

PS - I don't know how I missed it originally, but there's a hidden-picture game at the end! 😱😍 It lists what item you can hunt for in each tale. I can't wait to do this with the physical copy!

I will start with the positives: I did love the autumnal vibes, sarcasm, and puns. It may be nearly spring, but I am always in the mood for a fall read! However, I just cannot see myself ever going back to reread this one. It was enjoyable and funny enough, but it did not leave me wanting more. I almost wish that there were longer panels to get more from the characters or that there were not so many different characters. It was nice to have some of them pop back up later on, but it felt a bit jarring to jump around so much. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Okay, not gonna lie, I didn't know about this webcomic beforehand and when I requested the arc for this book I thought it was gonna be a children's book 🙈 But I was so pleasantly surprised!

This book is actually a collection of short comics about the various characters that live in the Twistwood. They are all short "stories" on their own but also connect somehow in the background/general lore - which I thought was not only a great idea but also executed well.

They were sometimes adorable, sometimes disturbing and sometimes a delicious combination of both. There were corny jokes, weird jokes and jokes that I did not see coming - but they all made me laugh out loud! In the end, a great mix of humour and heart 💚

Also, the characters were so interesting that even though we never get any in-depth exploration to their pasts specifically, you get really invested in them. Well, to be fair, a lot of them are the usual folktale characters we all are familiar with - but they had their little twists (see what I did there 😉)

All in all, this is a great collection of comics for those who enjoy folktales and fairytales but are also looking for a fresh take at them. The illustrations are fantastic as well.

Twistwood Tales shares the wonders of the scary and dark woods, from thieving rubber duckies to a doctor who likes to amputate. Their stories are sometimes whimsical and frightening, but everyone comes together for a good, hearty meal. Autumn colors of faded oranges and rusted reds meet hilarious and sometimes comedic short stories of a lonely scarecrow to a lantern who needs a break. There's definitely beauty in the eye of the beholder in this comic book.
I had a lot of fun with this graphic novel and its light-hearted antics. The art style is gorgeous and perfect for the Fall months. With different pages for different stories, Twistwood Tales hooked me right in. I loved bucket boy and his leaky eyes to loghead and his worrisome nature. Simple lessons and morales throughout, a quick and funny read.

What a fun ride with this cute illustrated book. I had no expectations whatsoever going into this since it was obvious that it was a kids' book, but oh boy did I laugh, gasp and had a fun time. Beyond that, I think it is a must-read for your kids who are into reading.

This one has beautiful art pieces leaning towards vintage-ish colours and above all great life lessons in a double-meaning kinda way. It might be a little hard for a little kid to understand some puns and the deeper meaning of some words, but the meaningful experiences and lessons that it delivers are absolutely valuable in early childhood. It's like "a good friend who gives you great advise in book form."

However, I am not the target audience for this book hence the 4 starts. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this one.

Twistwood Tales is a collection of short comic like stories. There are tons of silly play on words in the stories to make someone laugh. The stories are cute and well drawn. The characters are very creative and wordplays on their own in some cases.

A sweet, autumnal comic strip with reocurring characters set in some enchanted ol' woods. Most of the tiny tales are contained within the 4-panel strips with a few stretching across more pages ending with one longer story. Overall the wholesome punny tone worked well with the spookier elements, deffo would recommend to younger readers or any adults wanting a cute read.

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc!

What a weird, wild trip this book is! I read it out loud with my 10 year old and, while I thought it was adorable and quirky, he had an enthusiastic response to it! He kept saying “I need to save up and buy this book when it’s printed!”
I don’t think there is a higher acclaim than a 10 year old saving up his allowance to buy a book!
It’s actually perfect to read together. Some of the idioms are dated and a younger reader could benefit from explanations from grown-ups, while the younger’s delight is contagious! This family is a big fan of the twistwood tales! Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy to bring such wacky sweetness into our home!

Graciosos retellings de cuentos clásicos y de figuras míticas populares. Se lee bastante rápido y muchas invitan a la bondad hacia las personas que vemos sufrir.

This was the fastest 5 stars I’ve ever given. This graphic novel was funny, cute, and phenomenally illustrated.

This is an absolutely delightful book full of unpredictable little stories, fairytale characters with a twist, and wholesome messages. It's a very fast read as most stories are one page long but you will be delighted with the original character designs and witty dialogue. I feel like this can be enjoyed by both older and younger audiences and it made me laugh on numerous occasions. I think my favorite stories were the ones with the doctor. It's just a really good time.

Twistwood Tales is one of the most delightful, charming, cozy, and funny comics I've ever read. It's a blend of humor, fantasy, fairy tales, and critter adventure that anyone of any age will love. Most of the comics are single-page jokes, but there are also some that are several pages long and even some that continue on throughout the book. Characters recur and mingle. I haven't enjoyed a comic this much in a long time.

One of the cutest graphic novels I've ever read. I would recommend reading it on days when you want a light-hearted read. There were short stories that read as if you were reading a comic from your daily newspaper. So much banter was incorporated into many themes or life lessons that may resonate with people. Also, the illustrations were so cute, it reminded me of a show I watched called Over the Garden Wall. An easy 5/5 stars from me.

After the first page I knew instantly I'd adore this book. After the second page, I was laughing for 10 minutes. After the third page I was laughing hysterically.
This fills the space in my heart left after finishing Over the Garden Wall. Want more smart-dressed frogs, pumpkinheads and plenty of new weirdly cute characters, tons of pun with a hint of dark comedy while also contemplating on mental health, friendship, with a sparkling of creepiness and also some awww moments? Then this is a match made in heaven!

The book mostly consists of 4-panel strips on each page, each a standalone micro-story, and after a few pages everything seems quite random, but all the characters reappear after some time and a lot of things get connected and make sense after all.
The book also contains a longer story: Bucket Boy and the Goblin Queen's Riddle.

I can't wait to grab a physical copy of this book as well!
