This book has really been on my mind. I had to listen to it again. I really enjoyed the narrator. It is a hot, werewolf shifter romance and fun to read or listen to. Maeve is a little too accepting at times. Griffin really doesn't scream alpha to me. But this book was really fun.

Eve Langlais has long been a favorite paranormal romance author of mine. I have great memories of Bunny and the Bear, and her Alien Abduction and Welcome to Hell series (my favorite reads). As often happens, an author falls by the wayside as a reader's interest expands and they fail to pick up one of their books for years. It was nothing against Langlais, which is why I eagerly decided to jump into one of her new series.

Pros: It is fast-paced and you can get through it quickly. It's a shifter romance, which I always enjoy.

Cons: I didn't like the narrator's performance for Griff. He sounded so lazy and nonchalant all the time. What's worse are the mouth noises during the narration. Unfortunately, I would tell Langlais fans to avoid this audiobook. While her books are always over-the-top (it's her hallmark), this one sounds so ridiculous to hear.

This book also had quite a bit of misogyny in it that I don't remember in Langlais' other books. Granted, it's been a while since I've read her stuff, but it really started to put me off the book altogether. By the end, I was more aggravated than anything.

Good story but the smacking from the narrotor bothered me so much it made it had to listen too. Other than that I like the story and the characters

This is the first book in the Big City Lycans Series, a Paranormal Wolf Shifter Romance. Maeve and Griffin's story is entertaining, fast-paced, steamy, and action-packed. The world building is interesting. Juniper Young did a great job bringing this story to life. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley, a Tantor Audio production, for an honest review.

Juniper Young narrates Eve Langlais’ paranormal werewolf romance Alpha Attacked, book 1, in her new Big City Lycans series. I thoroughly enjoyed this exciting, action-packed, steamy romance from beginning to end. An ER doctor, Maeve, has seen a lot of weird and crazy things. But a man jumping off her operating table while she’s trying to remove six bullets and leaving the OR is new. That full-moon shift is topped off with claims of a wolf running out the hospital’s main doors soon after.

It turns out that the man whom Maeve saves is Griffin, the local Alpha. Fortunately for his Pack, Griffin’s a resilient wolf. Not so much for whoever tried to kill Griffin because he survived and will get his revenge when he discovers who’s responsible. Is it someone trying to steal his Pack? The rival wolf gang across the river? Or someone unknown to him and his Pack? After saving Griffin’s life, unknown assailants threaten and attack Maeve. Who is his beautiful, sexy, and delicious-smelling savior? What secrets is she hiding, and are they connected to the attempt on his life and the danger and violence threatening his Pack? Griffin has secrets, too, like how he howls in and out of bed. But it’s one that he and his kind try to keep closely guarded.

Young wonderfully brings Langlais’ original story and deftly developed, fascinating characters to life with vibrant and expressive narration. She’s a fantastic narrator whose chosen voices and narration perfectly fit the characters, especially Maeve, Griffin, and the villain. With accents, dialects, pacing, tone, intonation, and emotion, Young gives the characters distinct voices, revealing their personalities, feelings, quirks, and state of mind throughout the novel. Her dramatic narration that captures the characters’ emotions drew me into the story from the first scene, and before I knew it, I was halfway through the novel. Young does such a great job voicing the men that it’s easy to believe there are different narrators. The novel’s tone ranges from humorous, dark, and thrilling to intimate, sizzling hot, and angsty, and Young deftly shifts between these tones. She brilliantly expresses Maeve and Griffin’s attraction, desire, and passion for each other. And she uses her full vocal range to express/portray the intimacy between characters and their chemistry, sensations, and moods during the novel’s intimate scenes. The narration for the characters is distinct, so it’s easy to tell which characters are speaking in each moment, scene, and chapter.

Young’s lively narration complements Langlais’ snarky, introspective, emotional, and dynamic narrative style, delightfully bringing her exciting novel and fascinating characters to life. For a somewhat short book, Langlais’ worldbuilding and character development are skillful, and her mythology for the wolves is a bit different. But she leaves you wanting to learn more about this intriguing world and its characters. I love Griffin’s smart-mouthed, sexy, aloof, grumpy alpha, don’t mess with me vibes. Maeve’s a good match for him. She’s so self-sufficient, independent, sarcastic, and unbothered by Griffin’s alpha, controlling tendencies. And despite being super suspicious of his motives, she doesn’t get all up in his business trying to figure out the oddities of his biology or lifestyle beyond thinking he’s a mobster/drug dealing criminal—he runs a business legally selling marijuana. It’s interesting. I love their banter and sexy, sweet, funny, and steamy interactions. Langlais nicely rounds out the novel with a fascinating supporting cast. I like Maeve’s best friend and co-worker, Brandy. She’s sharp, funny, and way more curious and savvier about the supernatural world than Maeve. Griffin’s Pack mates are also intriguing.

While Langlais’ suspenseful story has one or two surprising twists, the ending feels more like the beginning of an intricate and exciting journey, which I look forward to experiencing. Alpha Attacked is a sexy, fast-paced, entertaining, and quick PNR read with a nice blend of steamy romance, action, suspense, and humor, exploring themes of family, soulmates, following your dreams, crime, and vigilantism.

The narrator was fun to listen to. Not only did they keep me engaged but I really got into the story so much I lost track of time.

This is the first in the Big City Lycans series. It was a great start to the series. It was action packed and full of spice. I cannot wait to read the next one. Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for the audio arc in exchange for my honest review.

Alpha werewolf Griffen ends up in the ER riddled with bullets. Maeve, the doctor working in the ER, doesn't understand how he can stand the pain and then suddenly jump off the operating table and run off. I liked how the story developed, Griffen and Maeve were such opposites, and yet they fit together perfectly. Juniper Young did a good job voicing the different characters, nice pacing.

I received an advanced reader’s copy (audio) of Alpha Attacked by Eve Langlais and this is my honest review.

this was a little too "typical" for me. I like when my smut books have more than just smut. I know I'm probably in the minority but I don't like it to feel forced or "too much" and that's what this one gave me. I did enjoy the spice but I wanted a little more plot lol.

This was surprisingly enjoyable. I love it when the female MC stands on her own two feet but still ends up a pretzel in the mattress mambo. It’s the best.

I gotta say, this narrator too was fantastic. She did a fantastic jobs with the voices of the characters and bringing them to life. I was never confused about who was saying what.

I’ve noticed that sometimes with books of this nature they don’t always work as an audio for me but this one didn’t. It didn’t seem like too much and it didn’t feel like it was dragging on. I appreciate that and enjoy it.

I really don’t have any complaints. Thanks to NetGalley for the audio copy!

I loved that this book was set in Ottawa, Ontario and I could picture some landmarks while listening. I usually love shifter books, but the character development in this case was lacking, especially for the MMC. I felt that the insta-love connection here was not very believable, and that is something I look for when listening to "mate" stories. Do doctors really check out their patients asses? Scary thought, since my own new doctor is a man.

I thought the narrator did a very good job. I would definitely listen to more books by her. Her male voices need to be a touch deeper, but other than that I really enjoyed the narration.

The story 2/5

Narration 4/5

Overall 3/5

Thank you to Net Galley and Tantor Audio for the opportunity to listen to this ARC Audiobook. All opinions are my own.

When Meeve has to work on an u on anesthetized man with six gunshots she fears he may wake up due to pain but when Griffin wakes up during surgery he seems more aggravated than anything else. Then when he decides to get up and leave the surgery ward she doesn’t know what to say. The next day gangster‘s approach her asking about a package and wanting to know the last time she spoke to her dad but the problem is she’s never met her dad and never received any package. It seems the effects of the full moon will last days because strange events continue to happen and It leads back to Griffin but what does this all have to do with Meeve’s dad? She met him trying to save his life but he will save hers in the end and much much more. I love the shape shifter books and I enjoyed this one but found they use profanity way too much and I found it unnecessary. Even the elderly security guard use the F word and I don’t want to be a prude and I’m not trying to be one of those people but growing up I was always told people use those words for lack of better words to use and in the real world not every person you meet use as suck profanity. Okay I said that let me say this I love detective Groff… Don’t like his name but love him and thought they had some really lovable characters in this new series and I would definitely be looking forward to the next book but hope the author can tone down the unnecessary use a bass vocabulary. As for this book I highly recommend that if you love Shapeshifting books an abnormal romances you should definitely read alpha attack. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This book was absolutely amazing!!! I felt into the story from the very first minute. The fact that I listened to an audio version of it, just helped me love the experience more. I felt compelled by the narrator’s way of making me fall into the characters’ lives and live with them through this crazy and spicy paranormal romance with lycans!!! Add to that a very possessive and brooding alpha … with a voice that makes you melt and you’ve created this addicting book !!! Very much enjoyed it !!! Can’t wait for it to be out !!!

This book sounded like something I would absolutely love. Werewolves protecting a doctor, romance, ... The plot definitely has promise, however the execution just isn't that great. Both the story and characters lack depth and development.

TI did however really love the narrator for the audiobook.

I enjoyed this book. I really liked the female lead. She is intelligent, strong, and independent. The male lead left a bit to be desired. He's hot and a alpha. That's it. He doesn't have much of a personality. While it's understandable that he would fall for her, there is no reason why she would fall for him. He's uneducated, a "mobster", and she repeatedly calls him a drug dealer even though he own a very legal weed dispensary. Even at the end of the book she still regards him as a gangster. It was very much unearned instalove, but I guess wolf magic made her love a complete stranger who she looks down on. I also thought it was silly that she doesn't seem to know he's a wolf, but her best friend does. I did like the world building, and I am very curious about what is in that grimoire. If the next book follows her bestie I am all in.

Alpha hero shifter and damsel in distress doctor.

Griffin ends up in the ER one night after being shot, and Maeve removed the bullets without anaesthetic. She doesn’t cotton on to how he can withstand that, nor why people see a large wolf running from the ER. When Maeve’s father supposedly passes away, he sends a package to Maeve that is sought by Griffins pack and another pack, so Maeve is in danger with Griffin’s main job to protect her.

As an audio this was ok. The female narrator was good for the female parts but for the male scenes TBH the male voices it sounded too feminine (or like teen boys). And it took away from the storyline, as unrealistic as it was. This is the first in a series and I don’t know if there’s more from these two but I didn’t feel like their story was complete at all, and little character development. I finished this as I was driving otherwise I might have DNF’d this.

Maybe reading this might have been better.

Honestly, was a good but short story. The narrator is alright , It is an interesting , and enjoyable but I am not sure I would listen to it a second time. I did have a point whereI had to rewind to listen to it again. I heard this is supposed to be a series, so I will probably give. The next one a chance

I know this is a novella and so there isn't really time to develop things a whole lot, but having Maeve go from crazy guy she operates on, to her stalker, to sleeping with him in a couple dozen pages is too much. I didn't think there was any chemistry between them and found Griffin to be an asshole. I wish this could have just been even fifty pages longer so we could see a relationship unfold.

The lycan parts weren't explained that well and I don't understand why Maeve doesn't get to know about them (as far as I understood anyway.) I think there was an okay idea here, but it needs some revision and more content added to be good.

The audiobook narrator was fine with Maeve's parts, but terrible at Griffin's. Read the ebook instead.
