So passed over way to many times at work B decides she’s had it she’s done. She moves to middle of nowhere Colorado to do everything she’s put off because of the job that didn’t value you. So I DNF’d this book about halfway through it just want my cup of tea. I could see how others could like it though. It’s big city girl meets small town hot cop. Who helps her own her a walk to remember style list of all she WANTS to do! There’s an age gap she’s older than him. There was definitely spice even only 50% in. This wasn’t it for me, but if any of those elements sound good to you. I’m sure you’d love. Also I do want to visit the town in this book just to get my hands on some pie!
This book was not it for me. This book felt like reading a bouncing ball. Up and down and all over the place. I just could not keep track of the storyline or stay focused enough to enjoy the book.
Breaking All the Rules is a lighthearted tale that takes you into the life of Beatrice Archer who has had only one goal in life, To get the coveted corner office in her advertising business. But she has never been appreciated even after her inhuman efforts and genius mind. She decides to leave the rat race, fancy clothes, high heels, and restricting bras behind by moving to the idyllic small town of Nowhere, Colorado where she hopes to live a simpler, easy going existence which by no means includes falling head over heals for the younger, ruggedly handsome, local Officer Austin Cooper who is entirely too charming for his own good.
This was such a sassy and fun read! I love how it was funny from the get go, with so much snark about how women are made to exist in society. I loved everything about Bea, the female MC. The romance with her and Austin was spicy and flirtatious.
I was not fond of how Austin would call her “honey” but that’s a personal thing. I also would have liked the resolution to have lasted a bit longer, for Bea to have to work a bit harder to get Austin back. But this is all personal preference.
I thought the story was very well written. I personally loved the play on Hallmark opposite in the story, and is fitting because anyone who is looking for a Not-Hallmark love story, this is it!
Audiobook review: I loved the narrator. She did a fantastic job bringing the story to life. On the iPhone NetGalley app the 1x speed seemed slower than the “normal speed”. I listened at 2x the speed. Normally I listen at 1.75x speed on the iPhone NetGalley app.
Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for this advanced readers copy of the audiobook of Breaking All The Rules.
Thank you Net Galley for an audio ARC of Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews. This a new to me author and Holy Wow did this book knock my socks off! I well be revisiting this author for sure! The characters were very well written. Small- town atmosphere and love with lots of fire!
One of those rare books where you can't put it down and enjoy it from start to finish.
I really enjoyed the characters amd whilst some small town moments made me think, would that happen, others made me laugh thinking of my own small town.
Cannot wait for rhe rest of the series.
This is a fun, light, super steamy, small-town romance about Bea Archer and Austin Cooper and their 0-60 attraction/relationship. I loved Bea IDGAF attitude after leaving her high-pressure big-city job and moving to the adorable town of Credence, Colorado. As weird as it sounds I felt the story was both repetitive and missing something. Regardless, it was entertaining. Thanks to the author, RB Media and Netgalley for providing an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I read and reviewed the book Breaking All The Rules over a month ago. I requested and received the audio book as well. In an unusual move from me after listening to the audio book I’m increasing my original review by a star. This book had me laughing with delight as Bea discovers her own self worth and boldly asks for what she wants. Mia Barron does great with the narration of the story. Thank you to NetGalley, RB Media and Amy Andrews for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review. My original book review is below.
The cute cover welcomes you to a very entertaining, steamy, small town romance. Beatrice Archer is 35 and tired of being passed over for the promotion she is promised for years. She throws darts and moves to the small town of Credence, Colorado. And Bea wants to become badass. Her list isn’t shocking and includes things like drinking beer for breakfast, ride a horse, skinny dip or go camping. She may even wear her panties on the wrong days.
Police officer Austin Cooper first meets Bea when she is dressed is sweats and bunny slippers eating pie. He is instantly smitten. He is younger, 25 to her 35 and is all in to help her safely work on her being bad list. The sexual tension is sizzling and there is a lot of passion and fun scenes. The townspeople and Austins family add a lot to the fun of the story. Everyone absolutely knows everyone’s business and is proud of it. And Austin’s dad loves a good pun.
I laughed many times reading this book and the angst moment is very brief. I only wished for a little more in conversation between Bea and Austin especially in how they see their future. The epilogue is nice but the focus is more on Bea and not them as a couple. If you want a romance novel that is fun and with a lot of heat this is just the book. I didn’t realize this is part of a series and read easily as a stand alone. But I will look for the previous books and future one from the author and hope they are just as enjoyable.
I really enjoyed this story. The witty banter between Austin and Bea had my laughing until my sides hurt. Although the story was a bit predictable, the characters were relatable and likeable. Some of the dialogue was a silly during the steamy scenes, but I enjoyed reading them anyway. The audio version was well done.
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced copy.

Review🥧
This is my first book by the author, and holy smokes, it was good! The kind of book that makes you giggle while reading. The book asks a simple question: what happens when you stop living for everyone else and start living for yourself? The small town setting was a huge reason I loved it so much. I couldn’t get enough of all the side characters who added so much to the storyline. The male MC and the female MC were both fantastically written. The chemistry was wicked hot and I loved the banter. Cute and steamy- just a lovely read!

All right, ladies, this one is for all of us that have been passed over for that promotion, looked down on for our choices, are trying desperately not to let anyone down, and have finally had enough.
Saying I loved this book would be such an understatement, the wit, the comedic timing, the slow burn but freaking amazing romance, I loved it all.
I'm not giving anything away because I think everyone should read or listen to this book, and I can't wait to read more by this author, she's phenomenal.
Now since I had the privilege of the audiobook version of this book I have to talk about the narrator for a moment, Mia Barron is amazing, I loved the inflections she used in her take on the characters, it was all wonderful.
Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for providing an advance copy of this audiobook, I have voluntarily listened to and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
This book. This book. I loved every second of it! It was funny, deep and pulled at all of my heart strings. Not only was it well written, but it was beautifully crafted. Bea’s character growth and her ultimate change is absolutely perfect. It had so much wonderful conflict that I didn’t want it to end. The hero, Austin was the perfect match for workaholic Bea. There was a great mix of spicy scenes vs heartwarming scenes. This book was one of the best I’ve read in a good long while. The narrator did a great job with this one. Huge thanks to Netgalley, Entangled publishing and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book!
Quick Summary: A Beatrice got her groove back romance
My Review: Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews was akin to How Stella Got Her Groove Back. I would classify it as version 2.0. In this story, successful career woman, Beatrice Archer, meets small town police officer, Austin Cooper. She is older and he is younger. Despite their age difference, they are drawn to each other. They help each other "scratch an itch," all while striving not to catch feelings. Is that even possible?
My Favorite Scenes: The Grocery Store, Going to Jail, The Flashing, The Confession, and The Groveling
My Final Say: This book went from zero to one hundred with a quickness. Beatrice and Austin could barely keep their hands off one another. Beyond their insane couplings, the story beneath was simply about finding passion pursuits, celebrating truths, standing up for self, and connecting with others. Readers who enjoy age ain't nothing but a number romance stories will really like this book.

Beatrice is the heroine we all need in our mid-30’s. She’s a reminder that it’s not too late to follow our dreams and flip the bird to the nay-sayers! This book is full of delightful characters in small town Colorado. I found myself chuckling out loud on several occasions. It is a touch spicy, be warned, but not in a way that deters from the plot. The only pain point was the constant reminder of age gap. Enough already, Beatrice! You. Are. Worthy.
I loved this book from start to finish! I could probably count on one hand the number of older woman/younger man titles I've read that are truly great and this is definitely one of them. I loved Austin and Bea together & Bea's irreverent and zany behavior and dialogue had me laughing out loud at times. One can always rely on Amy Andrews for a perfect combo of heat, humor and emotion - I couldn't put this book down. I enjoyed the audiobook narration by Mia Barron.
First in a new series (and I can't wait for the next!!)
Fed up with her life in LA, Bea quit. She threw a dart on the map and ended up in a small Colorado town. After being a slovenly hermit for a few weeks, she ventures out into town. Her appearance (messy, unbrushed hair, sweats, and bunny slippers) caused the nosy townsfolk to call in to the police. After all, she was sitting on a bench eating TWO ice cream cones. Austin, a local police officer, responds to the call. And he was instantly intrigued by Bea. Bea insisted she was breaking rules and needed to be put in the "pokey". The more time he spent around Bea, the more he loved her "I don't care what anyone thinks" attitude. And, despite Austin being ten years Bea's junior, they quickly become inseperable.
I really, really liked this one! It was funny and relatable. Who hasn't just wanted to quit everything and do nothing but binge watch TV shows and eat whatever you want? And Austin is GREAT book boyfriend material. I wasn't sure what to expect as this is a new author for me, but I am looking forward to reading more!
Mia Barron narrates the audiobook and does a good job. Clear, good pacing, no complaints from me.
I received an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved Breaking All the Rules--for the first 80% or so. After that, if it had been a physical book, I would have thrown it and walked away.
Throughout, there were little things I found odd, but I can overlook them. (e.g., a 25-year-old man who loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Really? Timing wise, it doesn't compute for me.) No one reads romance for realism, right? They were fine.
The last bits, though, were awful.
The woman main character behaved in a way that was totally inconsistent with everything established about her at every moment leading up to then. During the male main character's Big Gesture moment, he said things about the seriousness of the relationship that weren't on the page, leaving me shaking my head (maybe a little less sex and a little more intimacy would have given us that). Then, the female's Big Gesture wasn't big, wasn't really a gesture, And the male accepted her apology way too easily.
This had the potential to be a five star book, but... is not. (Also, in having to write this review and assign a star value, "I'm reminded why I haven't read a NetGalley book in a while.)
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
For the audiobook, the production is good and the narrator does a good job with all the characters and their voices.
For the book, it's characters and writing did not work for me, I listened to 60% of the book and did not connect to any of the main characters or feel like rooting for them. There are also certain lines of masculinity & femininity that are not to my liking. From the advanced review copy, "For real men only" while the main character Beatrice is thinking about the guy in a perfume ad.
It is light-hearted romance and the setting of the story in a small town with pie shop is cute. So it could be a book you like but sadly i did not.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 This book!!! LOVED.
The minute Bea started talking I fell in love with the story haha so the first page. Her craving for sugars, beer for breakfast, the no cares for anything but enjoying life… enter Annie’s Pies… or Officer Cooper… the intensity between these two are instant a real! I felt the 🔥 I also never craved a pie more in my life.
Bea is an inspiration, I love how driven she is as well as creative and confronting stepping outside her comfort zone with her passions…
Funny, flirty and a heart stealer this is a RomCom I’ll be recommending to all!
Thank you NetGalley, recorded books author and publisher for this ALC in exchange for honest review. The first chapter or so i felt was soo slow and endes up not adding to the story but once our FMC and our MMC met it went on high speed. Love how unique the story was how the chemistry worked. Wpuld almost expect a more difficult time moving from LA to CO but worked really well.
