This was not for me. The story was kinda slow and I couldn't connect with the characters at all. I was hoping for something different
"Thicker Than Water" is a gripping mystery/suspense novel centered on Julia and Sienna, who are not just best friends but also sisters-in-law. Their bond is put to the test when Julia's husband and Sienna's brother, Jason, is involved in a car accident and accused of murder, leaving him in a coma. As Julia and Sienna delve into Jason's life to uncover the truth, they confront secrets and lies that challenge their perceptions and strain their relationship. With themes of loyalty, deception, and family dynamics, the novel offers a compelling exploration of the complexities of human relationships. If you enjoy slow-burn mysteries with a focus on family drama and the unraveling of secrets, "Thicker Than Water" is a must-read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to read Thicker Than Water.
I can’t say this was my favorite thriller but it did keep my attention for most of it. I personally am not a character driven reader, I like plot driven especially when I’m expecting a domestic thriller, but on the plus side the character were really well developed

What an excellent book! It kept my attention all the way through. The characters were well written, each was entertaining and interesting. I liked how everything played out, it was intense at times...which is great!
Thanks to netgalley, the publisher and author for the chance to read this advanced copy.
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC of this book. It was the first book by Megan Collins I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Told in POVs of 2 sisters in laws that find out their brother/husband is in a coma after an accident. To make matters worse they find out he has been accused of murdering his boss and is the only suspect. They work together (and through some of their own personal issues) to figure out if the man they both love could be capable of murder. The book became a little stagnate in the middle but overall enjoyed it!
I wish I knew where to begin but simply this book truly grabbed my attention from the first chapter. So many little details were unraveling over and over and just when you thought you knew you ended up being wrong. It was such a fun book to read and an interesting showcase of how deep honesty and trust runs in family. I enjoyed reading it a lot
I really enjoyed this book! It had some twists and turns that I did not see coming! Books that make me want to stay up past midnight reading are the best and this one definitely fit in that category. Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book! I will certainly recommend it to all of my reading friends!
This was your average domestic thriller. It was hard to get into, but once I got 100 pages in, it picked up. Overall, just okay for me!
Thicker Than Water is a twisty domestic drama told in 2 voices in alternating chapters. I enjoyed the development of the characters and the surprising twist at the end. Fast paced and suspensful.
Thank you to Atria Books and Netgalley for an advanced reader's copy of this book for my honest review.
Thicker Than Water follows sister-in-laws who have a close bond and a business together. When their husband/brother gets into a bad accident, everything they thought about their relationships with him and their lives comes into question.
Told by alternating POV's, you get a deep look into the complexities of family dynamics, relationships, and how they can change instantly in times of trauma.
While I did enjoy this read, I figured out some of the twists fairly early on, which made the ending a little less satisfying than I would have liked. Regardless, Megan Collins is a good, reliable, go-to- author, who I recommend checking out.
3.5/5
Slow burn
Great story
If you love domestic mysteries, this is a great next read. I really enjoyed this book.
I literally sped through this novel. I felt like it was more a domestic suspense then a thriller but some parts where very thrilling indeed. I love Megan Collins and this was my second book by her and I have been very please both times! The story is told by alternating POVs between the sister in laws and I really like that because I feel like I don't get too biased to one person more then the other. Even though I read this book super fast it is more of a slow burn!
This was a slow burn family drama that missed the mark for me. I really liked the family plot by this author, so I had some high hopes for this one. I don't know exactly what did not work for me, but this was not enjoyable to me, and I almost DNF'd it.
Julia's POV was boring to read from, and Jenna's was almost one-dimensional to me, and I did not connect with any of the characters.
Many thanks to Atria and NetGalley for my gifted copy.
This one had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved the alternating POV'S and the best friends/sister in laws duo. The build up was perfect and the ending shocked me. This is my first Collins book and it definitely will not be my last!
3.5 stars, rounded up.
A solid thriller. I found it a slow burn and even dragging at times. I loved the idea of the plot, it was unique and had a lot of potential. I just wish it were a little faster pace.
I really enjoyed the fact that we got the perspective of both sister-in-laws, Julia and Sienna. I think that helped out tremendously as I wasn't entirely the biggest fan of Sienna. I found her rather annoying. I'm sure that was the point, but it was painful at times getting through her perspective. Julia saved it for me.
I wasn't seeing the twist coming at all so I really enjoyed that! Overall, it was a solid thriller that I recommend!

This book is narrated by Julia and Sienna. They alternate chapters and I usually like this style of writing. Julia and Sienna are more than sisters-in-law--they are best friends and business partners until Jason, Julia’s husband, gets in a car accident and is put in an induced coma. Both are shocked when he is named a suspect in his boss's murder. The challenge to clear Jason’s name puts their friendship at risk. The ladies are opposites and one is likable and one isn't.
2.5 stars!
I don't mind character driven stories, but the whole book I unfortunately felt bored and disinterested. It felt like the characters kept learning the same thing over and over while still not connecting the dots, which I found very frustrating. I think the only saving grace was the idea of a platonic soulmate, but even then it was just eh.

This was a mystery and I did go back and forth trying to figure it out so good plot points.. There were points when I almost stopped reading. I understood Julia's reluctance in life, except when it came her son, I wanted to scream at her to be a mother! Sienna was a little more understandable because she had a lot of trauma. I also felt the ending was abrupt.
3.5 rounded up to 4
I thank the Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book! The opinions in this review are entirely my own.
Unfortunately, this book was just an ok book for me. The story sounded promising, but the execution lacked a bit. It was dragging on at times and then rushed at the end. The MC seemed quite naive and made me roll my eyes.
