Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
This second-in-series is as good as the first. Light romantic fiction, it has an interesting back story about caring for the environment. The characters are fun and credible, with misunderstandings and lack of communication testing the romances. There are occasional instances of repetition which were unnecessary, but on the whole this is an enjoyable book.
This book works equally well as a stand alone or as part of a series. The characters are likeable and the story flow well. As an author Sasha Morgan never disappoints, and I am looking forward to the next visit to Lilacwell.
Rory is looking to leave London for a life in the village and when he met Lilacwell’s innkeeper, Cassie, he know he found the one that he want to spend his life with, But Cassie is skeptical with his intention. Cassie was hurt before and it is rather hard for her to place her trust on someone again.
This is my second read from the series and it focus on Rory who want to leave his corporate life and move on to have a village life. Unlike the normal romance story, this series by the author doesn’t only focus on the couple, it also focus on its community. Overall it is an enjoyable read to me.
Return to Lilacwell - Sasha Morgan
This is the second book in this series however I have not read the first and this did not take away any enjoyment from this story. Really enjoyable characters (Rory and Cassie as the main characters) including all the other residents of Lilacwell. A cosy easy romantic read with plenty going on in the background making you wonder how things would turn out. Many thanks Netgalley and Canelo for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions
This is the second in the series of the Lilacwell village and it was as gentle and pleasant as the first.
The characters are all likable. I was looking forward to reading about Adira and Fletcher's Christmas wedding and Jasper up to his usual tricks and fun,
It was nice to be a part of Cassie and Rory's blossoming relationship.
All in all a lovely gentle book, with not too many characters.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this lovely book. xx
‘… without any hesitation proceeded to book himself a room. Sorted. He was returning to Lilacwell.’
In this second book in the Lilacwell series Sasha once more provides her readers with delightful escapism. Having read the first book I was excited to return to the village of Lilacwell to familiar friends with all the banter and camaraderie. Similar to Adira from book one, on this occasion, it is Rory who has had enough of city living, corporate pressures and makes the bold move to leave.
It might be read as a standalone, however, the understanding and satisfaction is definitely enhanced from having read Adira and Jasper’s story in book one. They are very much present with Fletcher but this is Rory and Cassie’s story. Once more Sasha has provided a multidimensional story - this is not just a romantic chick lit - far from it. Sasha’s inclusion of topics such as the cost of maintaining an English manor, setting up a new business, the problems of aging and caring for the aged, workplace issues - truly, it is an impressively written book that touches on some highly relevant issues. I love it when a book such as this offers the reader that little bit extra.
Additionally, this time around Sasha shines the spotlight on the topic of sustainability and explains such in her Authors Note at the conclusion. Taking a strong stance on climate issues through Rory’s character of the ‘Eco Warrior’ and his desire to live off grid was most inspiring. This book was an excellent follow up to reunite with the charming characters and quaint village of Lilacwell.
‘When Adira had tried to explain how she desired time, space and freedom, they’d just looked blankly at her. Yet, for Adira, it had been the best decision of her life and she didn’t regret it.’

Will Lilacwell works its magic once more?
Times are changing in Lilacwell. Not only have Jasper and Adira settled into The Laurels manor, newly engaged and firmly casting off the shackles of their respective city lives, but Adira’s friend and ex-colleague, Rory, is now also looking to leave London for the quiet beauty of the Forest of Bowland.
Sparks flew when he and Lilacwell’s innkeeper, Cassie, met at the summer party a few months ago, but Cassie has been loved and left before and is reluctant to put all her trust in Rory, who might return to his promising law career for the right offer.
With Jasper and Adira’s wedding just around the corner, love is in the air for Lilacwell, and some big changes are coming to the sleepy village…
My Opinion
This is a short, sweet, cosy read. This is the second book in the Lilacwell series but it would work well as a standalone. We learn more about the characters from the previous story (Adira and Jasper) whilst also learning about Cassie and Rory and watching their relationship develop.
A lovely escape.
Rating 4/5
A great read.
Jasper and Adira live at The laurels with Fletcher.
Rory (Adiras friend) is looking to leave London and settle back near to his home town. He had previously met Cassie, who works at the Lilacwell Inn, at a summer party. They had got on really well but Cassie was reluctant to trust Rory after a previous long distance relationship had gone wrong.
With Jasper and Adiras wedding being planned just before Christmas is love in the air for more than one couple at Lilacwell?
I always love to visit Lilacwell and this visit was no exception. It was really love to meet up with the characters again and find out what everyone has been up to. This is a lovely sweet story. Which is really enjoyable to read. I look forward to my next trip to Lilacwell soon.
This was such a sweet and easy read, I throughly enjoyed settling into this one. So well written and I,loved the characters. These types of books really appeal to me as I can lose myself in them so quickly especially the ones that are set in seaside places. I hope to read more from this author in the future. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
Loved my trip back to lilacwell. I want to live there. Loved the original so now love Cassie and Rory's story too.
I enjoy reading a book that doesn't just focus on a romance between a couple, and was pleased to see the focus on living sustainably. Although this book is the second in the Lilacwell series, it works just fine as a stand alone book. Cassie and Rory were immediately attracted to each other, but Cassie is determined not to have another long distance relationship, and quickly cools off when she finds out that Rory is a successful London barrister. But is that the life that Rory really wants to live? Catch up with Jasper, Adira, Fletcher and others from the first book in the series.
Loved going back to Lilacwell. This time it was all about Jasper and Cassie. Really good story, loved being part of their story, it was charming and romantic, and i hope that there will be a 3rd in the series.
I dnf'd this book at 20%. I couldn't really find myself invested in the story or characters. I'm not a fan of insta love and I got the feeling from the MMC that he was already in love with our main FMC even though they only met once at a wedding a while back.
I think this is easy to read as a standalone even though it is a sequel novel.
A truly stunning book from Sasha; her books get better and better. It beautifully written with lovely descriptions.
This was the perfect antidote to a bad day, just curl up with this book and a warm drink of choice and before you know it, It had everything you want in a good book. I really coudnt sing this books praises enough and no matter i write, it will never give it the justice it deserved.
I very often read for escapism from the dreariness of the day and if I could bottle the feeling i had reading this, to cheer me up everyday i would.
This book is described as a Cosy romance and I couldn’t agree more. This book is a continuation of the gorgeous Lilacwell series. I was so invested in Cassie and Rory’s story and am anxious to read more. Also throw in a wedding between Jasper & Adira and you have the perfect romance.

What a lovely book to read which after each chapter made me smile!
I loved following along with the wedding plans and the wonderful visions of the hotel and surroundings. The characters were enjoyable getting to know and becoming a part of the wonderful extended family they all were.
A truly uplifting happy read!
Always a pleasure travelling to Lilacwell and meeting the lovely characters. Thoroughly enjoyed this story and had fun.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
Having loved the previous book in this series I was delighted that there was going to be a sequel and couldn’t wait to read it. This could also be read as a standalone. This is the perfect escapism cosy read. I loved finding out more about the characters from the previous book aidira and jasper and to also see the relationship develop between Cassie and Rory. I loved the descriptions of the setting in this book and the community feel
This book was a touching and uplifting romantic read and I hope there is going to be another book in this series to see how the characters lives continue to develop
