This is a good book. The two main characters are Jackie and Vince. They are both VP at the marketing company they work for. They have both recently when through a divorce. They become friends that help each other. There starts to be an attraction. They both have issues to work out and they do. They fall in love.
This was fun! Definitely nothing new or super exciting, but sometimes a reliable romance is all that you need! The characters were very sweet and their relationship felt incredibly authentic.
This started off pretty cute but it was kind of boring. I didn't like how the whole book seemed to center on miscommunication between Vince and Jackie. So overall the story was just okay.
This was a super sweet friends to lovers trope book. While, I am not usually a fan of friends to lovers, but I do love with this trope when the guy falls first, so I was excited to read this one. This book read like a real life story, not over the top plots or weird coincidences/scenarios. So, I was a big fan of that!
For me it was more slow paced than I usually like, I wasn't excited to pick up and read a few more chapters the next day, so that was a little iffy for me. Overall though, a super sweet sexy read!
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for sending me an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed Jessica Lemmon's twist on friends to lovers story line!
I loved Vince!!! He just wants to take his friendship with Jacqueline to the next level.
Jacqueline, on the other hand, has a major crush on T.J.. So when Vince offers to coach Jacqueline to win over T.J., will Jacqueline see what is front of her eyes?
I enjoyed the secondary characters and felt they really added to the story. I hope Vince's best friend gets to tell his own story!
This book has everything I need: love, friendship, and a lot of humor!
I can't wait to read more by Jessica Lemmon! I could not put this book down.
***I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher via Netgalley. I reviewed this book voluntarily.***
Eye Candy by Jessica Lemmon is a contemporary romance and the start of a series. Every morning, a gorgeous mystery man jogs by Jacqueline Butler’s office window, tempting her to break her “no dating” rule. She’s good with ogling him from afar, but her best friend-slash-colleague Vince Carson suggests she do more than stare—he wants her to ask the runner out. Vince knows his best friend Jackie better than she knows herself, and the last thing she needs is a date with a pompous, swole jackass. But Vince can’t exactly ask her out himself. Encouraging her to pursue a guy who is all muscle and no substance will not only get Jackie off the bench, but will also open her eyes to the fact that Vince is the right man for her. Vince takes Jackie on practice dates, promising to help her hone her skills, but can’t resist edging the fake romance into reality. After a ridiculously epic kiss, Jackie sees a sexier side of Vince, and suddenly anything is possible.
Eye Candy is and contemporary romance that has some friends to lovers, some co worker romance, and a slew of interesting characters that have me looking forward to the next book from the author. I liked getting to know Jackie and Vince, and while many times the friends to lovers things falls short for me- it worked really well here. They were really good friends to each other, not just one (or both) biding their time until they could make a move. They each honestly wanted what was best for the other- and that is what made it work and feel sweet rather than creepy- which can happen. I greatly enjoyed the secondary characters, and thought they were a wonderful support system for our couple, and made things even better. I will say that my only complaint is that I felt like the conclusion left to many real life problems up in the air, and that bothered me a lot when I finished the read. I am hoping that the next book (Arm Candy) answers some of those questions for me while also giving Davis and Grace their story- which i am eager to read.
Eye Candy is a entertaining and engaging read. I will be reading the next book by the author.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This was such a fun, easy, and cute read! I love a good friends to lovers story and this was great!
Jackie and Vince are friends carrying some emotional baggage from past relationships. When Jackie decors time to start dating again, Vince realizes his feelings for her are deeper than just friends.
I loved the dual pov, and funny banter from Jackie and Vince. I thought they had great chemistry too! Overall this was a fun book that I would definitely recommend!
I look forward to reading the second book,
Arm Candy!

Thank you to NetGalley, Jessica Lemmon, and Valentine PR & Literary Management for this ARC!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
*Reviewed on NetGalley and Goodreads. Will review on retail once published!
This was a cute light-hearted and fun read!
It was nice to see that the first love interest isn't actually the hero - but we should know that because he's blond 😏 And to see her friendship with Vince develop.
The banter between Jackie and Vince was fun to read and the short length of the book and easy flowing words meant I could get it all read within a day.
Overall, I've given it 3 stars because I would recommend this to a friend looking for a fun contemporary romance with a bit of 🌶 but the story is a bit surface level and I found at times both the main characters were a bit childish in how they handle their emotions.
If you like Christina Lauren's Josh and Hazel's guide to not Dating and Sarah Adam's The Cheat Sheet then you'll love this.
I love that this story is getting a revamp! I loved it the first time I read it and I love it again!
Eye Candy by Jessica Lemmon is the laugh out loud love story of Vince and Jackie.
Both Vince and Jackie are fresh from very bad relationships - Jackie never finding the right guy and Vince recently divorced.
They entangle their lives as they've both decided they are done with the dating scene/married life and really just need to focus on themselves...
That is until Jackie starts spying on the hot runner that always seems to run by her window at just the right time..
Vince standing firm in the No dating rules, tries to sway Jessica away from this mystery runner...
Is it the no dating rule? or is it jealousy?
I would like to start off by thanking NetGalley and Valentine PR and Literary Management for a copy of this book.
Eye Candy is the perfect fit for anyone who enjoys the friends to lovers and workplace romance trope. This book is written in dual POV and each of the main characters have their own unique and humorous inner monologues. The chemistry and eventual relationship dynamic of the two main character’s feels natural and unrushed. I truly could not put it down! (Also, the excerpt from Arm Candy already has me in a chokehold!)
Jackie is a vice-president at her company and collaborates with fellow vice-president and friend Vince on a daily basis.,Their mutual friendship grew from sharing very similar life experiences, but Vince wants to be more than Jackie's friend. Vince, being somewhat of an opportunist, seizes on the perfect guise to get closer to Jackie by offering to help her land the guy she has been ogling daily through her office window. As new emotions surface and old ones get clearer , their relationship changes, and behaviors take on more significance.Jackie has to make a decision on what her heart wants and what the possible fallout might be from that decision, The story incorporated others who, collectively did not add much to the plot, but individually helped the main characters work through their feelings and analyse their actions. There was enough humor throughout the book to keep it light and funny but realistic. This book was entertaining and enlightening, showing us that not everything is as it seems, and you have to search beyond the surface for the truth.I truly appreciate the publisher and Netgalley for providing me the privilege to read and review this work.
This was such an interesting best friends to lovers story. I laughed, I cheered and I actually felt my heart breaking. Vince and Jackie have such a strong friendship but when he realizes that she might be ready to start dating again he realizes that he doesn’t want her with anyone but him. You just want to yell at the pages and tell them to use their words to be honest with each other and stop jerking each other around!
Can they get past the trauma caused by their exes to allow themselves to find true love?
I will immediately be starting the second book - Arm Candy after reading the teaser at the end of this one!
DNF @ 25%
Jackie ogled at Jack daily from her office window. Yet had the hots for Vince. She kissed Vince back after she started going out with Jack (the guy she stalks). I get that Vince was the one who initiated it. But let's face it she did kiss him back. In my opinion, that is cheating. I hated Vince.
Why bother torturing myself when I know by the end I will be giving this book a lower rating, right?
3.75⭐️
Who doesn’t like a lil workplace swirl story? Well i do.
Friends to lovers is one of my favorite trope, and this book was sweet, fun, sexy and at the same time annoying to read.
I generally enjoyed myself reading this especially the first half of the book...
I loved how Jacqueline and Vince friendship was,... but turned into lovers, not as much.
I was really annoyed and frustrated mid to the end... Vince being so manipulative and oh he wouldnt stop bringing up Leslie tf.
Jacqueline smh, she was so childish that it was unbelievable, her encounter with JT?......... Smh
I think the only realistic person is Davis and I can't wait to read his story in Arm candy
I felt everything with this book
😍🤣🙄🤔😊😒 😠 🌶
It was a pleasure to read so yeah i recommend it.
I'm still annoyed btw 😂
Thank you NetGalley, author and Valentine PR & Literary Management for this ARC.
Co-VPs Jackie and Vince have become friends since his divorce. Now Vince has start noticing Jackie as more than a friend, but she’s sworn off dating. But not sworn off ogling the jogger that also happens to live in her building. Vince offers to coach her but as he does lines are blurred.
This is a friends to lovers tale, Jackie and Vince both start to notice each other as more than friends. Throw in some obstacle and you’ve got this light romantic read. It was an enjoyable enough tale.
What makes this book different from all others? And why should anyone care?
Give enough info about the plot of a novel or the facts in a nonfiction book that they have a context for your opinions. Don’t give so much that your post turns into a book report instead of a review. And no spoilers! Be fair to your fellow readers.
Whenever possible, put the good things about a book or author up front.
Criticize the book, not the author, if you don’t like what you’ve read. Explain why.
The cover and blob of this book really made me want to pick up this book, and frankly, so should you.
Vince and Jackie have been through rough times when they divorced. The scars run deep, and are still very much present. Luckily, they have had each other whenever they were feeling lonely. When Vince encourages Jackie to go out with "J.T.", the hot guy that always runs past her office window, things become complicated. Both Jackie and Vince start to realize that they have been appreciating the other in a different way than just friends. Jackie, J.T. and Vince find themselves in a love triangle where Jackie calls the shots. Will Vince be able to sway her into loving him, and him alone?
Jackie and Vince being co-workers adds a great workplace-romance vibe to the story. Where many of these romances star in people being very awkward with each other, Vince and Jackie are very easy-going. They know the other inside and out, and communicate in a relaxed way that will definitely make you feel at ease. There is enough humor in the book to keep you tuned into the storyline.
And, really, Vince is the guy that you dream of dating once. He is handsome, considerate and knows what he stands for. Jessica Lemmon did a good job of describing all the differents sides to this story. I loved how she encorporated divorce in this novel, and how the effects of divorce can make life difficult for the one left behind in the divorce. Both Vince and Jackie suffer from the aftermath, but they have different challenges to work through. This makes the story less typical for a romance-novel.
Thank you Goodreads, Jessica Lemmon for letting me read this. All opinions are honest and my own.
This was cute and I had a fun time. I don't think that JT was really necessary for the plot. Jackie and Vince could stand on their own. I enjoyed the love confession at the end but I wish he actually said he loved her too. We obviously know that he does but he should have said it out loud.
I received an arc through netgalley.
Cute and easy read. The drama from two people who had tough divorces finding love in each other. When they finally got together j was happy, then quickly bored with the ‘will they won’t they’.
Eye Candy (Real Love Book 1) by Jessica Lemmon
EYE CANDY by Jessica Lemmon is another winner for her. I felt part of the story from the start and loved the interaction of Vince and Jackie who are both carrying baggage from their divorces. Davis who is another victim of lost love adds to the fun. Watching them go from friendship to love was fun for someone who has felt Jackie's pain...and found love again... I am looking forward to more Candy.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Funny Entertaining Easy-to-read Romantic Wonderful characters Happily Ever After Page-turner.
The blurb of this book sounded like something I’d read before, but I couldn’t remember if I enjoyed the story or not—that’ll teach me not to review everything I read. As it turns out, it does seem to be a re-release, but I refreshed my memory of the story and these are my thoughts.
This is a friends-to-lovers story that left me feeling frustrated more often than not. There was a bit of hypocrisy, some childish mind games, and pesky problems that could’ve so easily been resolved with short, honest conversations. There were good parts though, and I liked the side characters who are apparently featured in other books in the series. Solid 3⭐️.
