A fun romance. Liked the enemies to friends to lovers story line. The way Aaron and Max met through a prank was a great idea and fun way to start the story. The repercussions were kinda sad though. Was very disappointed in how Aaron’s team basically ignored him!!! Boooo! I prefer books with team camaraderie really, but can understand why this went in that direction for the plot.

The other friendships were great though, and the romance was pretty sweet. A highlight for me though was one of the side characters, Carl a paranormal investigating extraordinaire. I want him to have a story!!

I found all the tech stuff a bit much. Some of it was necessary to the plot and I imagine people into that stuff will love it, the coding description bits just weren’t for me. However, the virtual reality ideas were interesting and novel!

An easy, mostly light, romance read with a happy ending!

Thank you, Xpresso Book tours, for allowing me to read Year of the Jackal early.

Sometimes a book surpirses me and Year of the Jackal was such a book.. It's a fun and quick read.

Indeed it was a very fun, sometimes hilarious read. I really enjoyed Max's unapologitic quirkiness and how that colored his voice on the page. Aaron seemed a little underdeveloped to me. He had some interesting internal stuff going on, but they didn't come out and shape the story as much as I would've liked. Max and Aaron had a really great chemistry at the start, some fun banter(?) and teasing, but this chemistry didn't fully bloom. The squad was my favorite part. I just loved their dynamics.

The Filipino stuff was a pleasant suprise. There was some satirical shade thrown, but it was pretty accurate shade.

I really enjoyed reading this. Again, it was fun and wholesome, yes, but I wished it was more than that. It could have easily been much more than that. I wished the author had taken some more risks. This story could have been something unforgettable.
