Thanks so much to LK Publishing and Lily Kate for the Free ARC. This book was a great quick read! Lucas and Chloe’s story is one I would definitely recommend to anyone who loves romance. And I mean who doesn’t love a good story about food?
Thank you for this ARC, Netgalley.
I was really excited for this book… tacos and romance? Instant interest. Unfortunately, I didn’t like it, at all. I was very annoyed by Chloe… I’m not sure why but her character just didn’t click with me and Lucas was so gross and cringe from the moment he’s introduced. Insta-love is one of my favorite tropes but this was insta-infatuation and insta-horndog. It’s partly my fault for not enjoying it, though. This was described as a spicy romance and I’m very particular with the spice I enjoy. If you like spicy romance and lots of tacos, you’ll probably enjoy this!
A light hearted romcom with the expected tropes...most of the tropes. ALL of the tropes. I was almost surprised that they didn't have the subtitle of "an enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, etc. etc. etc. etc. story." This was cute. Just enjoy it.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.
A quick, easy and cute read that I instantly fell in love with. I loved the writing, loved the characters and the spice, whilst not the most spicy I have read was atill good.
Chloe and Lucas's story was good, but it was the insta-love which I didn’t fall for as it usually isn’t my favorite. I wanted to, but didn’t feel for their connection. There is some spicy in the book, but it was mostly sweet. This is a book I would suggest for the beach as it was light and cute.
I am interested in the writer and her other stories. I liked the flow of the writing and the progression of the story. Definitely will be picking up another book from her.
What's not to love? Tacos and rom coms, two of my favorite things! This book was super cute and I really enjoyed!
This was a DNF for me. Unfortunately, Chloe's indecisiveness drove me nuts and Lucas gave off some stalker vibes - he was a bit over the top. The story was very insta-love (especially for him) which I am not a fan of. Too much fluff, not enough heart. Thank you to NetGalley and LK Publishing for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Taco Bout Love by Lily Kate is a contemoprary romance. My name is Lucas Donovan, and I’m a sucker for a great taco. No, that’s not an innuendo, though I do like my women like I like my tacos: extra spicy. So when a brand new food truck rolls into our sleepy little town of Fantasie, Maine, I know I’m in trouble. I just don’t know how much trouble. Things go downhill fast when I meet Chloe Brown, the sizzling hot and super sassy owner of Taco Bout Love who is as extra as guac. Then out of the blue, Chloe plops her huge purple eyesore of a truck in my designated parking spot. I’m sorely tempted to have her truck towed, and her right along with it. Unfortunately, Chloe’s as fierce as a ghost pepper, and she’s not going down without a fight. Before I know it, the only thing I’m certain of is that this woman drives me crazy… in the best way possible. What’s more is that I’m beginning to think I just might miss her when she’s gone. Suddenly, I can’t seem to keep my hands off Chloe Brown, or her tacos.
Taco Bout Love is a solid romance with both the small town and grumpy/sunshine love vibes (both of which I love). I greatly enjoyed the introduction to the town of Fantasie and its cast of characters. I thought the secondary characters really added something to the story, more than just fodder for future books set in the town although that is certainly in play as well. I felt like Chloe was a well written character and is willing to work hard for what she needs, even if it is space. I have to admit that I wanted a little something more from Lucas. Yes, he has a couple issues that he needs to work on, but I was really expecting a little more back story or depth from him than what we got. He seemed almost too perfect, aside from his tendency to use 'baby' as a term of endearment and just take care of things without conversation or consent rubbing me the wrong way. However, overall I enjoyed the read and look forward to seeing more about the residents of Fantasie in the future.
Taco Bout Love is a fun romance, and I think I will be reading more from the author.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book.
A grumpy/sunshine book about tacos?!?! Sign me up. I loved this book and I will 100% be rereading in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
Unfortunately I just didn’t like this one. It felt very rushed and way too insta love like to to me which is just not something I enjoy. The time line was confusing at times which made it difficult to follow especially with the time jump.
Chloe was very all over the place not knowing what to do and Lucas gave some stalkerish vibes that I was just not here for. Overall I’m not sure I would recommend this one.
I thought this was a really original rom-com with great main characters and lots of laughs - the spice was done really well to!
Cannot wait to read more from this author!
I am so disappointed by this book, it's unreal.
"Taco Bout Love" is supposedly a romantic novel with elements of enemies to lovers, comedy, and small-town romance. It is the story of Chloe and Lucas, and their bizarre encounter after Chloe moves to Fantasie.
I was very excited to read it, as I needed a plate cleanser, but honestly, I got stuck to it for two weeks, and the only reason I didn't DNFed it, was because it was ARC.
I love romcoms, and while I am not a big fan of small-town stories (as I am from a big city), there have been certain books that have made me love them, even though they had that element. However, that was not one of those.
I found the writing a bit boring, or maybe it was just the story. It was so utopian that it was simply unrealistic, and don't let me start on how annoyed I was by the choice of the heroine in the end. I also didn't like that much the characters, and they for sure didn't grow on me. And the spice! Talk about disappointment.
Overall, 2/5, I only read it cause I had to, but if you are a fan of small town not-really-spicy books, this one is for you.
Chloe Brown is definitely not expected in a small town like Fantasie, Maine. Her large taco truck is not only an eyesore, but it breaks down as she flees New York. She's built a successful restaurant before, but post breakup all she wants is to get out on the road and get away from the life she knows. The taco truck ends up in the parking lot of Lawyer Lucas Donovan. He is less than pleased at the eyesore and irritated by the inconvenience. Thankfully, the rest of the Donovan clan is welcoming, and decides to help Chloe get her truck back up and running. Lucas' brother even offers to sweeten the truck up with some new modifications. What follows is an enemies to lovers romantic comedy, complete with a cast of colorful neighbors, a charming town, and the trope of grumpy vs spicy sunshine. In short, I loved it. Taco Bout Love gives readers a smart and funny protagonist achieving her dreams.
Taco Bout Love is available now on Kindle Unlimited.
Taco bout lovely! I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and most of all the author for providing me with an ARC of this cute and funny Rom-Com! An engaging rom-com about love, family, community and tacos.
This book is a grumpy/sunshine, small-town romance in which the FMC opens a dessert taco truck…. Is it much more than that, I’m not so sure. This is very insta-love, particularly from Lucas. Whereas, Chloe, can’t make up her mind about anything, while her actions simultaneously suggest that she has?
I received the ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Lily Kate. This book is essentially a small town romance, with grumpy/sunshine, and tacos! What's not to like?
Synopsis: Chloe is trying to turn her life around and the small town of Fantasie accepts her almost immediately as she barely makes it to town in her broken down truck . Lucas just happens to have an empty parking space that Chloe's truck decides to take up permanent residence in. Cue the grumpy/sunshine, small town, forced proximity trope. And I'm here for it. A perfect blend of humor and spice and everything nice about a small town romance book. The story is told from dual POV which I feel really added to the perspective of this story. I can't wait for Lily Kate's next book!
Cute and quirky! This was a wonderful comfy read about Chloe and Lucas! Love the descriptions about food as well as the chemistry between the MCs. Highly recommend! Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!
Taco Bout Love is a small town romance of a big city girl rolling into town with a beat up truck and a dream. The extended family and cast of characters are really endearing and made the book great, and the chemistry level is very strong. But my only complaint is that the author threw another genre in there with some violence and I dont think it was entirely needed. It didnt come out of nowhere, i felt it coming but also I didnt really need it to complete my enjoyment of the book. I do look forward to reading more of the town and the brothers and cousins.
This story opens with Chole in her food truck that breaks down in a small town in Maine. She ends up parking it in a parking lot and a space that a lawyer by the name of Lucas is not pleased with. Though for most of the first part of the book I felt he was a little uptight about a lot of things. Chole though has an easy way of making friends and lo and behold she is at is family dinner where everyone loves her. He finds himself wanting to be upset with her but at the same time, he is attracted to her spirit and fortitude. Chole is a strong character and I liked her and most of the people in town and along with his mother and brothers, Lucas at times was a bore but it was a story. Worth the read and was funny at times.
The book is predictable and the plot moves at an agonizing slow pace with not a lot happening. Moreover, for a person who moves to Fantasie to start her taco truck, 50% of the book goes without her starting the said truck. I have DNFd it at 50%, might return to it in the future.
🌮Book Review:
Title: Taco Bout Love
Author: Lily Kate
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ stars
Tacos....yum. I'm always down for a good ole taco! 🌮 The tacos in this rom-com were actually meant for dessert! That sounds yummy too! Unfortunately, Chloe Brown, creator of this delicacy, is having a bit of an issue getting her food truck up and running to sell these delicious offerings.
When she "rolls" into the town of Fantasie, Maine, she's met with the stubbornness of Lucas Donovan. Her food truck decides to just die in his employee parking and he's ready to tow the truck and Chloe out of town!
But, as I'm sure you're not surprised to hear, these two end up in a enemies to lovers troupe and let's just say, Lucas loves Chloe's taco 😉! This book was a cute, quick read. I didn't get invested with the main characters but it was funny.
Thank you @netgalley and #lkpublishing for this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
