This was a really good and funny book that contains steamy scenes, self growth, wity comments and small town romance.

For me this was a really quick read and now I am hoping to come back to Fantasie to meet the main characters again in one way or another.

I really liked the main characters and some of the "side" characters we get to meet in this cute small town rom-com.
One of the "side" characters that I really liked was Mrs Donovan, mother of the male main character Lucas Donovan. I felt like Mrs Donovan was a very likeable person whom treats newcomers like family, says what she wants to say, wise and she also seems to have a big heart.

The language was not to hard to understand for those who doesn't have English as their mother tongue and the writing was really good. It made me feel how life in a small town could be like to live in with citizens that are curious, noisy but also helpful and kindly to newcomers.

If you are looking for a quick feel good with a little bit of spice in it then this could be the book you are looking for especially if you like books that takes place in small towns.

This was a great start to a series.

I loved how the book introduced so much about the community/family of Fantasie while still allowing the focus to be on Lucas and Chloe. I often think romcom reads skip over this, but it adds so much to the book. I enjoyed watching these characters grow from grumpy/sunshine to a realistic duo I was rooting for throughout the book.

The side characters added so much to this storyline - from comedic relief to allowing us more insight into Lucas. I wish we would have learned a little more about Chloe, but I think the information we were given allowed for the story to progress without unnecessary drama.

Overall this book was just what I needed for a “feel good” weekend read.

The synopsis and the title of the book really appealed to me to read the book. Now that I have finished reading it, I am pretty disappointed.

I am not really a huge fan of instant love, and honestly, that kinda put me off.

For me, while reading a book I really want to have a character that I like but in this book there was none.
Lucas was just instantly getting hard-ons after seeing Chloe for like what 2 seconds and already being possessive over her. Being jealous of every man she comes in contact with, including his own brother. He is portrayed as a man who knows what he wants, but he just gives me stalker vibes. Like he's just too much. After all that stalker behaviour, he's portrayed as this man who helps everybody out, like trying to show his good side but that didn't even make me like him a little bit.

On the other hand, from day 1 Chloe was already treated as if she had been in this small town from the very beginning. Like I get it people are trying to be friendly and welcoming to a new person, but they were just too welcoming and too friendly from the get-go. "Like they could give up their life for this girl" kinda vibe.

Also, there were too many character introductions from the beginning, and I couldn't even remember half of them throughout the entire story. Overall, there was just too much going on and I was already losing interest. The book was not for me.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the arc.

This was a wonderful story that I enjoyed immensely! It is a small town romance and a perfect blend of quirky characters and great story. I already anticipate future stories set in this town!!

Chloe rolls into Fantasie, Maine in her mostly functioning purple truck. The truck barely makes it to a parking lot and comes to rest in the reserved spot of Lucas Donovan, CEO. Reasioning she has the weekend to get a mechanic to resurrect her truck, Chloe gathers her belongings and comes face to face with the CEO, who is so attracted to her that he makes a fool of himself by telling her he is going to tow her truck.

Chloe is drawn into the town and its residents - mainly related to one another. Still, she wants to realize her dream of opening a food truck. The longer she's in town, the more she realizes it is going to be hard to move on when her truck is ready...

There are SO many things I love about this book that I don’t even know where to start. The characters, the banter, the heat, and the heart, Taco Bout Love is an engaging read from beginning to end. I am REALLY hoping Lily Kate decides to make this into a series because the DiMaggio and Donovan clan have earned free space in my mind from this point on (translation - I can't STOP thinking about the people - mostly the men - of Fantasie, Maine).

Ready for a refresh start and much needed distance from New York, Chloe Brown had her sights (and hopes) set on the small town of Fantasie, Maine. Blowing into town on a wing and a prayer with a dream in her heart, to start a dessert taco food truck, Chloe only makes it as far as a designated parking spot before her newly purchased old truck dies for good. Taking a moment to scroll through the insanity that she just experienced moments prior: nearly running over the “town psychic”, learning of said town psychic as she is about to receive a ticket from a gorgeous, yet grump Sheriff, getting out that ticket by a stranger who has just given her flowers to deliver and an impromptu meetup for drinks later, Chloe is at her wits end. By the time another gorgeous (what is with this town) man approaches her – the owner of the designated parking spot where her truck is currently “resting”, she’s had it. She just wants to get to her bed and breakfast to check in! Still licking her wounds after escaping one disaster of a relationship, Chloe has no desire to deal with the male species, no matter how good this guy looks, and is determined to get as far away from their instant attraction as she can. Unknown to her, Lucas had other ideas the moment she got out of that disaster of a truck. Lust at first, Lucas has been dying to scratch an inch and what better way to do it than with the random stranger that is just passing through town. Determined to get to know Chloe more, Lucas quickly realizes the chemistry between them is more than he bargained for. For Chloe, this overly welcoming town and Lucas are the last thing she needs – she is on a mission to prove to can take care of herself but what happens when the people you know the least choose to love you the most?

What I like about it: As I said before, there are so many things I truly enjoyed about this book. For starters, Chloe and Lucas chemistry was insane! The exchange between them alone was so heated that you didn’t know if you would survive the moment when they finally gave in! Next up, the “background” characters of the town. I use quotes because honestly they were front and center in most of the book. If it wasn’t Ruby’s passive aggressive crocheting, it was Chuck getting rich off Luca’s insecurities, or Finn, Matt, Noah, the list goes on. Noah and The Doc cracked me up, especially Noah. I adored Lily and Josie and would be lucky to have these two women in my corner! I REALLY hope Lily Kate writes a series for this town so we can continue to follow the stories of DiMaggio and Donovan clan. I would also love to meet Grandma! A woman who can make a grown man pale just by the mentioning of her name has all of my respect!

What I loved most was the twist towards the end. I definitely didn’t expect the direction the story took and think I read the last 20% faster than the rest of it (and as I already couldn’t put it down, that says a lot!). To be clear, the entire book was amazing but the direction change is what really set it apart and blew anything predictable out of the water.

Back to the heat, the spice of this book was fire hot. The build up was already intense so when it finally happened, it was explosive. The only thing I would say is a few of the scenes (because there are many) gave a little of a “one trick pony” feel to Lucas which, with the wall incident, I don’t believe it is true but there was some repeating versus variety. It didn’t take away from the steam but by the third or fourth time, you already knew what to expect.

As I always like to pop the hood and look deeper, I loved how Chloe’s character was written and the internal struggle that she experienced with healing from the pains of her past and trying to embrace her future. Through each conversation, you saw her work more and more towards understanding why – why she stayed so long, why things happened the way they did, why she left. She was so focused on doing everything at the opposite end of the spectrum that she didn’t initially take the time to truly see that it wasn’t her or the situation, it was Paul and what he represented. Being a part of the town, a part of a family helped her understand what it should be like to love and be loved. Her transformation both mentally and physically was the real meat and potatoes of the book. Lucas being such a big part of that by simply listening, supporting, and nurturing was fundamental to not only her growth but their bond.

I will give a disclaimer that there is a domestic violence storyline in this book. I applaud Lily on how she wrote Hannah. She didn’t make her out to be a helpless victim. Speaking through her character, Lily wanted to make sure she spoke to the availability of options, that Hannah (and other women) could escape, start over, and reclaim her life. Hannah was strong, she was determined, and she still had power no matter what Carl did. Society has demonstrated time and time again the fear and violence of domestic abuse and Lily didn’t shy away from adding those factors into Hannah’s story, she kept the emotional energy as real as possible and as true to form as one can in a fictional story.

Taco bout Love was a beautifully written tale of how enchanting a small town can be, especially with half of the community is related! I really do hope she keeps this series going, I would love to read Noah’s story!

This was a really solid and enjoyable romance. I loved the small town setting of Fantasie and the spicy scenes. I did initially feel like Chloe and Lucas’ relationship was a little forced and Insta-lovey at the beginning but I really enjoyed seeing their relationship grow and fully develop throughout the book and loved them as a couple in the end. I did feel like there were a few too many characters and did get a little confused at times about who was who. I did also find a few plot holes eg. Chloe finding out that Dr DiMaggio is Lilly’s nephew at the hospital when it had been established earlier in the book. Overall though, I did enjoy the book and look forward to reading more stories set in Fantasie.

I loved this - a really original romance with strong male and female characters.

Loved the writing style, the spicy scenes were done spot on.

Will definitely be reading more by this author!

It was a really entertaining book about two characters who where forced together but it was mainly steam with some plot attached to it, so don't come into this book thinking that the plot will rock your world because it won't but if you are looking for a quick romance read I would 100% recommend this book.

This book was sent to me by NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

3⭐

I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and most of all the author for providing me with an ARC of this cute and funny Rom-Com!

This book starts off when Chloe, a young woman ends up in a very small but loving town called Fantasie with her wonderful purple truck which she hopes she can turn into a taco truck soon! When she parks her truck in a reserved parking spot and refuses to remove it until the next few days, Lucas Donavan threatens to tow her truck. When ignoring him starts to be impossible since not only is she staying at his mother's inn but half of the town's population are his relatives, they are automatically pushed together. Her plans for the future are foggy but staying in Fantasie and settling down are definitely not on her list.

The Plot

✔Small Town Romance
✔Forced Proximity
✔Found Family
✔Enemies to Lovers
✔He Fell First
✔Opposites Attract
✔City Girl x Small Town Boy
✔Grumpy x Sunshine

This book was very light and quick to get through and I enjoyed that. I loved the entire concept of the taco truck and I really enjoyed how the DeMaggio family just kept multiplying every chapter. The found family trope in this book was adorable and I liked how Chloe found friendship and was accepted by a whole time even when doubting herself.

The Characters
Chloe
I really enjoyed Chloe's character. She was funny and very sassy but overall she was really nice to everyone in the town so I felt very connected to her character and overall she had been through so much before going to Fantasie and I liked that she was independent in that way and wanted to continue being an independent woman in a town where she knew no one.

Lucas
I'm going to be completely honest!!! I did not like Lucas in the first few parts of the book. He kept looking at her with ya know ya know in his head but then I felt like he warmed up to an actual idea of being with her. Him being described as a "family guy" was really nice in this book and how he kept going with his father's legacy. I love how he acted like a grouch with the other characters but was trying to cover up his true feeling of kindness and I found that really cute.

I definitely want a book for Josie and Finn and I would absolutely love to read their book because every time they were in the same chapter together, I was eating up their bickering every. Single. Time.

I feel like this would definitely be a nice book to read as a pallet cleanser or simply as a quick rom-com to read.

Thank you to NetGalley and LK Publishing for providing the ARC.

Oh boy, where do I begin with this book?

This book was an absolute mess from start to finish. You have a "not fancy" chef from New York who breaks down in a small town and the grumpy curmudgeon of a lawyer who basically runs the whole damn place falling in love. Normally, I would eat this up, if it weren't for the fact that the characters suck.

Chloe is about as idiotic as they come. The whole first 40% of the book was her being like "does he like me?" while the MMC is over here making straight up googly eyes at her, and everyone is telling her that he's already in love with her. But she's not ready for a relationship, because she's gotta do things "on her own" so what does she do? Fall head first into bed with him, knowing that he's been making googly eyes at her.

And Lucas comes hard and fast at you, and not in a good way. Within the span of 24 hours this man has called dibs, displays really possessive, jealous behavior towards every other human being that comes into contact with "his woman," and decides that she's the one for him. And then spends the rest of the book falling hard and fast, much to the chagrin of the FMC, because she just wants something easy, right? No wonder Chloe feels absolutely suffocated. I feel suffocated reading about this kind of man. He's touted as a guy who knows what he wants, but honestly, his behavior comes off as a bit stalker-ish and a lot unattractive.

And despite all that, there are bits in this book that absolutely don't make sense, like the town psychic who's mentioned like twice out of the whole book and never brought up again, the ongoing divorce of a side character that ends up in a melodramatic stand-off, and the fact that after only knowing each for maybe six weeks, the main couple decides to go ahead and get married, even though the FMC said not even the chapter before that she wasn't even sure she was going to stay.

An absolute mess of a read. Two stars only because I finished it.

Small town vibes and Tacos, yes please!

Chloe Brown is strong yet honest. Then she initially planned on staying for a few weeks and didn’t plan on falling in love with Lucas. Lucas Donovan is quite possessive yet gentle. I really do think that these really completed each other in this story.

I have slowly realized that I really enjoy dual POV stories. There is something about seeing it from another person’s perspective that just makes you feel like you haven’t been gypped by not seeing the whole puzzle. No one really likes missing pieces or only having one version of a story.
While the book was about food, Chloe did not begin her food truck until the end, which I found disappointing.

My biggest gripe isn’t about the book, but the cover of this book. The female on the cover is who I would love to think is Chloe, but Lucas describes as blonde or almost white hair. The girl on the cover is a brunette. Again, this little thing didn’t change my rating for the writing that was inside the book. Though it does disappoint.

Thank you NetGalley and LK Publishing for the ARC of this book. This was an honest review.

I would recommend this book to all small-town romance fans. However, I would also check trigger warnings as there are some discussions that could be triggered.

A cute rom-com that definitely had me laughing out loud. This is my first read by this author but I am not opposed to reading more, especially in the Fantasie world. The characters were fun and quirky as well as charming and intriguing. Is it a tad insta-love? Probably but sometimes, when you know, you know. The character name threw me off just a little but it was a blip. I love food truck stories and I love small town stories. I felt Chloe's pain about losing herself in someone else and trying to avoid it at all cost but sometimes, you just need to let whatever happens, happen.

Taco Bout love was a cute read with adorable characters and very funny moments.

Lucas is your typical heart throb but he instantly falls in love with Chloe. Like, a little too fast.

I love Chloe's determination to be independent and stand on her own to feet after her forever relationship with her ex, but it was mentioned SO MUCH, it kind of got annoying.

The book tends to be a little predictable and you can definitely tell there's going to be more books because of the character dynamic between Josie and Finn.

Over all the book was a cute read but I feel like it could've been condensed to fewer chapters and not been so repetitive.

I was really drawn to this book after reading the synopsis and thought the premise was good. The first half of the book was great - we got to know an amazing community of characters as well as Chloe and Lucas’ characters as individuals and a couple. However, I found the second half of the book to be more rushed unfortunately.

I loved the variety of secondary/side characters, although there was a lot of names to remember. The interactions and the sense of love in the community was heartwarming and a joy to read. As Chloe and Lucas go, I liked their characters, but both frustrated me at times. While I was rooting for them to be together, I felt the connection to be rushed, which in turn felt a little forced at times.

I enjoyed the plot of the book, although it did feel a little repetitive occasionally. Personally, I liked the writing style, however some of the terminology used (especially the spicy scenes) was rather cringe in my opinion and it started to frustrate me how many times Lucas called Chloe “baby”!

I think if this book had kept a more steady pace without things being rushed, I would have been able to enjoy this more as it definitely had a lot of promise.

I liked but did not love this book, the first I have read by author Lily Kate. The title is adorable, and might be the best part of the book. FMC Chloe is looking to start a new life away from NYC. She wants to turn her purple hunk of junk into a dessert taco food truck. For some reason, she decides to start by spending some time in Fantasie, the quintessential rom-com small town. She coasts into town on fumes but is able to park her truck in a spot designated for (though she doesn't know it yet), Fantasie hero and MMC Lucas Donovan. Lucas intends to get her to move the truck, but as soon as he sees her, he is transported by insta-lust and immediately decides he must be with Chloe. Chloe, for her part, also has an instant attraction to Lucas but she is still coping with the emotional vestiges of a crap ex. Chloe remains in town as Lucas' brother works on fixing up her truck, and the love story unfolds.

The things I liked about this book didn't have a lot to do with the romance but more about the friendship that develops between Chloe and secondary character Josie. The easy acceptance between the two is lovely. There was also some decent banter between various of the characters. The things I didn't like include Lucas' almost immediate obsessive and possessive attitude towards Chloe. Following her around and basically forcing her to move in with him is just ick. I also didn't like some of the plot holes. Chloe keeps saying that her stay in Fantasie is only temporary but she never says or even thinks about where she might be going next. Food trucks are mobile, but there are still lots of operating concerns that prevent one from moving city to city or state to state. I also thought the drama at the end was forced and unneeded.

I would be willing to try the next book in this series, but I wouldn't pick this one up for a re-read. 2.5 stars, rounded to 3. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. The opinions herein are my own.

🦇 Book Review 🦇

Rating: ⭐⭐

❝ You don't understand what it's like to have your identity so tied to someone else you forget who you are. I still don't really know who I am. I'm working on it, but I'm not there yet. ❞

❓ #QOTD What's your favorite atypical dessert? ❓

🦇 When Chloe Brown rolls into the small town of Fantasie in her big, purple food truck, she doesn't expect to make such a strong first impression on everyone so soon. Unfortunately, her in-need-of-repair truck sputters to a stop in Lucas Donovan's parking spot, who isn't keen on the eyesore or its sassy owner. Though they drive one another crazy, that passion quickly sizzles into sexual tension. Is Chloe ready for a relationship when she still has the taste of a bad relationship on her tongue?

💜 Chloe's journey toward self-actualization and independence is what drives the book forward; not the ship. The strongest part of the writing is the backstory, which is the only bit of information we don't get immediately. Given Chloe's previous relationship, her motivations make sense. We get to watch her recognize what she wants in life, and eventually, who she wants it with. Even Lucas' backstory and familial responsibilities explain his demeanor. Their histories, while different, are exactly what makes these two so alike. The first page (and book synopsis you'll find online) is better written than any other page in the book, despite the food puns, though.

🦇 Unfortunately, this book was all spice without any real flavor. The entire relationship sizzles based on a physical spark. There's no tantalizing, sweet, slow tension when Lucas gets a hard-on every time he so much as looks at Chloe, or when Chloe's nipples peak at the thought of Lucas; it's just awkward. More awkward is the word choice; the dialogue seems unnatural and stilted, full of cliches and colloquialisms that feel randomly sprinkled into conversations. Every "baby," "undies," and "panties" thrown in makes it difficult to swallow the rest of the story. The main characters don't have a real, emotional conversation until after their first time; did they really know anything of value about one another before then? Chloe seems so headstrong in her convictions, only to change her mind pages later. Meanwhile Lucas seems analytical and responsible, only to melt like a puddle at Chloe's feet. It's not character development when nothing happens for the characters to earn those changes. The writing is also repetitive; not only does Chloe have a tendency to echo what people say to her, but we're TOLD so much information that there's no suspense, no surprise.

🦇 If you're looking for a quick read that's all sizzle without memorable flavor, this book is for you. It's a great, easy read between more intense novels. Unfortunately, it might leave a bad taste in your mouth if you're looking for impressive prose.

🌮 Enemies to lovers

Just finish this book really enjoyed it but not one of my favorites. The banter between the characters was entertaining and there is also some steam but all in all I would recommend this book. It’s a great book just to get your mind off things. It’s an easy read, and will definitely make you laugh.

I really disliked the character Lucas Donovan, to the point that it tainted the whole book for me. He was controlling, coercive, didn't know how to take no for an answer and frankly just set off a lot of read flags for me. He comes across like a literal stalker in some chapters and is grossly inappropriate in others. I just cannot get behind this guy being "misunderstood" when literally the chapters from his own POV were so damning. If some of his behaviour could be tamed and he was less domineering, I feel this book would have been worth 4 stars, but I just can't get past it as it is.

This book is 👌👌

Not only we get A LOT of spice, but all the characters are extremely well developed and lovable 💜 Besides Chloe (our protagonist) I really loved Josie, and can’t wait to read her book.

The town of Fantasie is definitely a place Id like to live in.

An AMAZING read.
