This is a powerful, heartbreaking collection of stories that resounds through the ages. These complex stories build off of one another and leave readers aching and breathless. A triumph.
This was an okay collection of short stories, however, I didn’t love them all. The first half of the book dragged but the second half was worth preserving. Despite my mixed feelings, I would be interested in reading more from the author in the future.
This was requested when I first found out about NetGalley and I had requested so many ARCs that I could not get to all of them before they were archived. I really wanted to get to this one, as it seemed interesting. If I can find this somewhere for a reasonable price, I will try to get it!
This was just okay! I skipped a few of these stories but also didn't connect with any of them in a deep level that would make the stand out.
A enjoyable read of short storys. Can dip in and out of it as and when or can read all in one sitting. A read that will get you thinking.
Thank you Lauren Carter, Book*hug Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC e-book. This a book of short stories that revolve around the same idea. Reaction. Love, sadness, pain, friends, hurt all the stories fixate on these topics. The book is not one that will leave you with a warm fuzzy feeling but instead will make you think and may even trigger you. These dive into our human reactions and how we each strive for connection and self worth.
Places like these is a lovely selection of short stories, intelligently written and well-rounded plotlines in each. I was slightly struggling with the formatting of the kindle version, as in some places the first few words of sentences were cut off, so at times i struggled to understand but this is by no fault of the writing, but I believe a corruption. Some of these stories stood out to me more than others but overall, they were all enjoyable and I would recommend to lovers of short stories!
Not uplifting stories if that's what you're seeking, but this author has talent. These are not stories of everyday situations, but I liked them overall.
I really appreciate the free ARC for review!!
I really liked the writing style. I want to pick up a longer novel by this writer. Sometimes I struggled to follow from one story to the next.
Interesting book of short stories some I found better than others but they were all a it weird. I think a lot the references were lost on me being British. They were all quite dark with little humour, but they were interesting and liked the authors writing style
