"The Soulmate: A Novel" by Sally Hepworth was an intense and intricately woven story that had me utterly engrossed. I found myself wondering why I had waited so long to read it. The narrative was expertly crafted, and the plot was rich with layers, keeping me on my toes throughout.
The story revolves around four main characters, and I constantly found myself thinking I had it all figured out, only to have my assumptions challenged. It's a masterful work of storytelling where nothing is as straightforward as it seems. The characters' lives are tangled in ways that keep you perpetually questioning their true motivations and secrets, leaving much hidden beneath the surface.
The central mystery of whether the main character jumped or was pushed sets the stage for a story that deals with weighty themes such as suicide, murder, mental illness, infidelity, and a marriage of convenience. Hepworth's narrative draws you in from the very first page and holds your attention until the unexpected conclusion.
I must also commend the audiobook version of this novel. The narration was absolutely top-notch, enhancing the overall experience and bringing the characters and their secrets to life.

"The Soulmate" by Sally Hepworth is a thrilling and captivating novel that I couldn't put down. I ended up reading this one in 2 sittings (which would have been one had I not needed to sleep). This book deserves 4-stars for its compelling storytelling and engaging dual POV narrative. I enjoyed having two separate narrators for both of the women and think both narrators did a fantastic job bringing their POV to life.
One of the standout qualities of this novel is its ability to draw you in from the very beginning. I found myself completely engrossed in the storyline and the uncovering of secrets.

Amazing setting, fast paced, and lots of lies and hidden secrets, what’s not to like?! More of a family drama than a domestic suspense for me but I enjoyed!

The queen of domestic drama does it again! Such a fun read from start to finish. The narrators did a great job setting the scene and honing into their respective characters’ psychology. Recommend this quick read!

I loved this one! It had me hooked from the very first page and had me flipping the pages to see what would happen next. This one had so many shocking secrets and revelations and I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. Highly recommend this one!

Another case of why did I wait to read this one? It was intense, and there was a lot going on in "The Soulmate: A Novel" by Sally Hepworth, but good lord it was so well done. I spent my entire time thinking I knew what was going on, but at the same time, I didn't. I thought everything was cut and dry, but things were tangled among the four main characters in the story, leaving you constantly wondering if you have it all figured out. In short, you don't. You have no idea what is going on, and there is so much more beneath the surface that remains just out of reach throughout the book.
Did she jump? Was she pushed? What is everyone hiding? This one deals with heavy topics of suicide, murder, mental illness, infidelity, and a marriage of convenience. "The Soulmate: A Novel" by Sally Hepworth draws you in from the very first page and keeps your attention until the unexpected end.
The audiobook version of this is absolutely amazing. I normally don't find the Australian accent very pleasant and tend to find it distracting. That was not the case in this instance. The narration on this one was absolutely top-notch.

Poops and Gabe seem to have it all. They’ve a dream home right on the cliffs…but the cliffs are calling in a much darker way to many. Gabe is great at talking people away from the edge….until one goes over. And did Pippa see her Gabe PUSH her?
As mysteries unfold, this thriller will have you on the edge of your seat. Is our narrator unreliable? Is she being gaslit? Is something else at play?

Pippa and Gabe have left the city to live a more relaxed life on the coast. Unfortunately, their home overlooks a cliff that draws people looking to end their life. Gabe's magnetic personality has saved a number of lost souls, but this time he's unable to stop the jumper. When the police start investigating and connections between Gabe and the victim are uncovered, things get complicated. Could Gabe have pushed Amanda Cameron?
Told from the alternating perspectives of Pippa and Amanda, tales of marriage, betrayal, and mental illness unravel. This felt less like a suspense/thriller and more like a look at unhealthy relationships. Honestly, I was mostly annoyed by the characters and underwhelmed by the story.
The two narrators, though, created a nice balance and pacing, which kept me listening, even when I lost interest in the novel.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well developed and the story was engaging. The narrator was a great choice. I recommend that others try this book as well. Well done!

Pippa and Gabe purchase a home on a cliff near Melbourne. They move in with their two young daughters and hope to live a wonderful life, but the cliff is known as "The Drop", a place where people come to jump and take their own lives. Gabe has managed to save seven people and is known as an angel. When he and Pippa see a woman out there, Gabe goes out to talk her out of jumping, but instead, it looks like he pushes her. It turns out that he knows her, she is the wife of his boss. The police start an investigation as her husband is sure she was not suicidal. Suddenly secrets are revealed and Gabe begins to look more and more guilty.
The Soulmate was a book I was highly anticipating this summer. It is a story that deals with mental health and how it affects those around them. It is a mystery with several twists giving it a thriller feel. My problem with this book is that I really didn't connect with the characters. Although I didn't dislike them, there just seemed to be something missing. The story is told from the POV of Pippa and the jumper/victim. There is also a past and present, which allowed us to see their lives before the incident. It seems like they are close to Pippa's family, but as the story progresses, you find out more about those relationships. This is a story about honesty, secrets, lies, family and a huge dose of mental health issues. I did enjoy the mystery and wanted to know what was going to happen next. I also wanted the family to sort things out as they did love each other and those little girls needed their parents. Although there were a lot of twists I didn't see coming, the story is believable and because of that, the ending was quite emotional and I finally got that AHA moment. I did a read/listen and enjoyed both formats, but I especially enjoyed the narration of Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry. They do an excellent job of giving voice to the women as well as the men. If you enjoy a good mystery/thriller, then I recommend you pick up Soulmate in whichever format you prefer.

I fell asleep listening to the book, so didn’t finish it. I was bored by it after a while with nothing really happening. I was getting towards the end but by then, I didn’t care who that woman was that jumped.and how Gabe was connected.
The book wasn’t very thrilling and and it focused too much on Pippa and Gabe’s family life. It’s fine to have that, but if it’s a thriller, then you need to have the thriller aspect along with the family side of things.

I enjoyed this audiobook! Sally Hepworth has become one of my always=read authors with each new release.
She writes books that always seem to surprise me in some way, and this one did not disappoint. The plot moved along at a steady pace, and the use of multiple points of view and timelines kept me hooked. Just enough information was doled out to compel me to keep going, and to find out what actually happened. The dual narration was a nice touch to the audio edition of the book.

What an intriguing read! Love Hepworth fiction and loved this one.
From beginning to end, the suspense keeps you going. There were some twists and, perhaps, the ending wasn't totally unexpected but it was engaging, and, as always, entertaining.
The narrators were engrossing and their rendering of the story terrific. Very enjoyable listening experience!

This was not my favorite Sally Hepworth novel, but did have an interesting plot. The plot twist was the only reason I’d call this book a mystery or thriller, otherwise it just felt like a family drama to me. Overall, I give it 3 stars.

Well, that was one wild ride! I was hooked from beginning to end. Lots of maritial drama, secrets, mental health issues, and deception with lots of twists and information revealed throughout the book that kept me reading. I honestly had no idea where the story was going to go. There were even quite a few twists at the end that I didn’t see coming. The audiobook was a fantastic experience with dual narrators that both had Austrailian accents so highly recommend. While The Good Sister is still my favorite from Sally Hepworth, The Soulmate is a very satisfying domestic thriller!
Thank you so much St. Martin's Press, Macmillan Audio, and Netgalley for the gifted copy.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was an okay read. The story moved along at a decent pace and there were well developed characters. I thought the end tied up a little too quickly and neatly.
I thought the narrators were good, they emoted well and did well to differentiate the characters.

I just couldn't get into this one as much as I tried. I think a lot of people will like it just wasn't for me. Thank you to the publisher for the audio.

I love Sally Hepworth and I’ll read anything she writes but this wasn’t my fave. It felt predictable, but I loved the descriptions and scenery.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
While using Amanda as a second narrator was interesting, it felt like a cheap way to avoid an unknown omniscient narrator. The interconnectedness between Gabe and Max didn't really serve a purpose, and Max could have helped Gabe in memory of his brother, instead of having to be related to him.
I did keep this rating as high as it was because I was not sure if Gabe was guilty of killing Amanda until the end.

Solid 3 stars. It was interesting but not edge of the seat. I kinda figured out what was happening. A few twists that surprises me but not like hugely. It was definitely a good perspective on how we don’t know what is going on in people’s lives or heads and how often we assume things about them. Not my favorite by this author though. Narration was solid.
