OMG. This book hit all the spots and scratched every itch. It was awesome! I read a lit of mystery thrillers and i am a mystery thriller snob.... It is hard to surprise me. This one did. I never lost interest. I liked characters and it is 100 out of 100. Home run!

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for this ALC!
Pippa and Gabe buy their dream house... which happens to be right next to a cliff notorious for suicide attempts. Gabe seems to have a knack for helping people who come to the cliffside, but one day, a woman ends up dead.
Sally Hepworth is phenomenal at writing domestic suspense. I loved the two couples involved in this story and seeing how all the details worked together to finally form a picture through multiple POVs and timelines. I listened to this one in basically one sitting because I was hooked. I HAD to know what the connection was and who was really nefarious. An excellent, bingeable book to have on your radar this spring!
Barrie Kreinik; Jessica Douglas-Henry were fantastic narrators on audio and I highly recommend it!

What a great book! From start to finish The Soulmate kept me guessing and I enjoyed all of the twists! I loved that it seemed like every piece was cleverly connected and there were no loose ends. I’ll definitely be reading more of this author!

“We trust people based on the strangest, most arbitrary things. None of which have any bearing on whether you or not you are inherently good.”
In this unique dual-perspective story, the reader looks at the relationship between two seemingly devoted couples. But, as in most domestic suspense novels, secrets lurk just below the surface. But the question is, how dark are these secrets, and how far are the couples willing to go to keep them hidden?
I think I’ve read *almost* every Sally Hepworth, and this one just felt different than the others. Not in a bad way. It was just different for me. I started out thinking it would be more of a domestic suspense, but in the end, it gave me more of a family drama feel.
The Soulmate (although I don’t think the title goes with the book) offered a relatively quick read or listen- I believe I finished it in just under 48 hours. The short chapters and interesting plot lines made me find many excuses to listen to my audiobook. And I loved the narrator too, so it was a delightful read.
I applaud Sally Hepworth and how she handled a particular element of mental health in her book. She did so with careful regard for those who do suffer from this while at the same time not allowing that character to fall back on their illness as an excuse. I see a lot of authors attempt to tackle mental illness with their characters, and they either get it all wrong, OR they create an offensive character. Sally Hepworth did a phenomenal job tackling mental illness in The Soulmate.
✌🏼Dual narrative
🗣️ Interesting perspective from one of the narrators
👏🏼 Well paced
📖 Short chapters
🎭 More of a family drama with suspense
🙃 Ending left me a tiny bit underwhelmed
❌ suicide
I recommend reading The Soulmate if you enjoyed reading The Wife Who Knew Too Much by Michele Campbell.

A suspenseful, twisty ride with a lot of surprises. The characters were interesting and the dual voices of Pippa and Amanda were compelling. The audio narrators were great, too, and I listened to the entire audiobook with rapt attention, waiting to see what would happen next. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers and/or gripping mysteries!

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was a fast paced thriller that starts off with a bang and keeps the reader wanting to know more. It is not a long book or audio so that helps to make the reader really engaged in the plot. The short chapters and the interesting backstory really kept me wanting more. I listened to this one in two short sittings and while I wasn't blown away by the ending, I felt that it wrapped up nicely.
Wonderful job by Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry on the narration.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for this copy in exchange for an honest review.

Who what a twisted read. That being said I truly enjoyed it and it kept me entertained. Sally wrote another masterpiece.

People go to the cliff to unalive themselves.
The cliff jumping caught my attention but I struggled so much with the characters.
I enjoyed the mystery aspect but the getting there and seeing how the characters behaved just really bothered me and thats where I struggled with the book.
The narrators, Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry were clear and concise and kept me engaged and listening.
It has multiple timelines and two POVs. The book deals with mental illness, suicide, and toxic relationships.
Special thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan audio for the ALC.

“It was delightful to be delighted in.”
I really enjoyed this audiobook. It has well defined characters that are all likable in their own ways.
The characters were well developed and the storyline, especially the ending…was unique. I mean who ever heard of a happy ending to this sort of thriller?
I really appreciate this author’s style of writing because she has a way of transporting you into the story as you watch it unfold. This book is no different, I felt like I was standing there on the edge of the cliff with the chill of the wind at my back (Maryland weather is crazy so it added to that atmospheric vibe).
I loved The Good Sister but wasn’t as big of a fan of The Younger Wife (although the use of the water bottle was kinda cool) BUT even if you aren’t a big fan of a particular novel written by this author, it’s likely going to be based on storyline preference and not her incredible talent for crafting a well written story. Not every book is for everybody. This author is absolutely an auto-buy author for me.
This book is currently available as a #botm pick and had I not already read it, it definitely would’ve been my choice this month because it’s an excellent read and well worth checking out.

infidelity, mental health as a plot point, and way too attached and codependent wife
I disliked so many things about this book

I really enjoyed this book. I listened on audio and the narrator captured my attention from the start and was easy to follow the “before” and “now” as well as which character’s point of view the story was being told. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a sort of “light” thriller.

"The Soulmate" is the first book I have read by Sally Hepworth but it will not be my last. It is an twisty thriller, featuring many unlikable characters but it is gripping and I found myself coming back to it whenever I had a free moment. I had the audiobook version and the narration was very well done.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, Sally Hepworth got one over on me again. I always know to expect some mental health issue, but I did not see this ending coming at all. It was a little slow in the beginning, and Pippa's claim of Gabe being so perfect all the time felt really obvious that he would turn out to not be. I waited for it to blow up. No one puts that much effort into convincing others unless they're trying to convince themselves more. Pippa had her own issues there. But the way everything unfolded left me breathless. It's a slow burn, character study, with some mystery and thriller aspects that keep you guessing throughout. I do love her books.

SH is an author that I always look forward to reading because her stories are quite enjoyable. I was excited to read The Soulmate and it turned out to be pretty good, but it did not “wow” me. It’s a great story with many twists and turns that will leave you clues to help you solve the mystery— she does this very well in all of her books. I think the ending just didn’t give me the shock value I tend to expect. This story is written in alternating POVs between Pippa & Amanda (in the afterlife) who both have their own secrets within their marriages.
I think I’d have to say of the four books that I’ve read by her, here’s how I’d rank em in order of my faves:
1. The Good Sister ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
2. The Mother In-Law ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
3. The Soulmate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
4. The Younger Wife ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
I have The Family Next Door on my shelf that I still need to read so I can rank it but she is still an auto-read author for me!

Solid 3.5/4 stars. Entertaining and slightly twisty. I love that her characters always have secrets and flaws, they’re not always what they seem. The narrator was fantastic too. While this book doesn't work for my elementary school library, I will definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you NetGalley for an advanced audio book to listen to.

Very creepy! Excellent reader and well paced, reveal as you go, insidious plot. I admit that I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous Hepworth book I read -- primarily because I didn't really the characters. They weren't my kind of people and their behavior fell on the wrong side of my own personal moral boundaries (though I expect others will feel differently!)

My thanks to Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for an advanced copy of this e-book and audio-book.
Gabe and Pippa find a dream cottage on the coast with high cliffs. Also, an area known for those wishing to take their life jumping from these cliffs. But Gabe has talked so many away from the edge, saving their lives, he is known for his sensitivity. Until day a woman is on the cliff and goes over while Gabe's arms are out. Did he try to save her or did he push her? The story takes us through the ups and downs of Gabe and Pippa and their lives and those in their world. It's hard to know just what is what, but the short chapters and compelling story kept me so interested to the end. A quick read and another good story from author Sally Hepworth.
*The voice of the character of Pippa sounded a lot like Sally Hepworth! Fantastic narration!

This is definitely a 5 star book! This could be my favorite Sally Hepworth book. I loved this amazing page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a story about a marriage and revenge The characters seemed very real. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great book.

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was crazy and uncomfortably suspenseful with a growing mystery. Gorgeous men make me nervous and Gabe had it in spades! With a sick dread I couldn’t put it down and I did enjoy it. I’m giving this a 4⭐️. It’s told with many POV and if your interested in the audiobook it was
narrated by Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry. They were awesome!
Thanks Macmillan Audio and St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley.

This is the story of Gabe, Pippa, Amanda, and Max narrated by both Pippa and Amanda. The book introduces the main setting of the cliff house, a residence owned by Gabe and Pippa and a frequently visited suicide jump spot. Gabe is the mediator; the one who goes to those who wish to jump in order to convince them to continue living. He is described as the lighthearted, warm character who everyone adores.
One night, a woman goes to the cliff and Gabe appears in order to ease her off. However, she supposedly jumps which leads to disruption in the lives of Gabe, Pippa, and their daughters.
Amanda, the woman who went off the cliff, narrates half the story through her death as an omnipresent character. Her view of the story, both past and present, reveal that there was more to that night at the cliff than most would expect.
As each mystery is uncovered and more alarming secrets are revealed, our main protagonist, Pippa, discovers the truth behind her marriage and the strength within herself.
