This is the second book in the delightful new cozy series "Deep Dish Mystery Series" by cozy author Mindy Quigley. I highly recommend this new cozy series. I enjoyed the first in series with all the perfect elements for a cozy mystery reader to enjoy. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.

In the next in series the author reintroduces us to our savvy smart fun protagnist Delilah who with her friends runs a pizza restaurant in small town Wisconsin. She has a talent for solving clues and is soon embroiled in her second murder investigation with the help of her friends. She has a delightful funny fat cat named Butterball who adds humor to the series and is always lamenting his diet . Delilah has a fun group of local townspeople as friends that are quirky and loyal to her and her restaurant. She has a love interest and a loyal ex boyfriend who always look out for her and adore her as well. With a great cast the author has gifted the reader a fun read with many different personalities and humor thorughout . The pizza restaurant is a fun element of this series and everyone loves reading about pizza . A enjoyable fun read to conclusion.

The mystery kept me guessing with many red herrings and clues. I loved returning to all the charcters and the setting . I look forward to many more releases in this fun series that is always a delight to read. .

Book two of the series finds Chef Delilah once again involved in a murder investigation. Good story. Interesting characters. And a hunky detective named Capone (yes related to that Capone).

This is another solidly entertaining installment in the Deep Dish Mysteries series. The crew from the first book is back with the addition of Mac, Melody's ne'er-do-well cousin (didn't care much for her, to be honest); Jordan, health food enthusiast and owner of a local smoothie/juice joint; Harold, the mildly annoying but enthusiastic chamber of commerce employee; and Jarka, a doctor from Bulgaria who now works for both Delilah and Jordan. (I was put off by how prejudiced Delilah is toward Jarka and her accent, but it sort of becomes relevant later? Still, it's a little much.) There are enough suspicious deaths and twists to keep the plot interesting, and Mindy Quigley continues to excel at creating a sense of place for her cozy mystery setting of Geneva Bay, Wisconsin. The romance between Delilah and Capone is a (very) slow burn, but the pacing works well here.

Book 2 in the Deep Dish mysteries opens with Delilah prepping for a town food festival competition. It involves bratwurst and deep dish pizza.
Butterball is on a diet.
Sam has a new girlfriend, Jordan, who owns the new smoothie/juice bar restaurant in town.
There are three buildings in town that were recently purchased that were once tied to a mob boss who’s in prison.
Sonya’s old flame is in town.
All these elements combine to create an interesting mystery with numerous little things that add up to a big picture I didn’t really expect.
I enjoyed reading about the pizza. I didn’t enjoy as much the conflicts between some of the characters.
I wasn’t sure about the ending between Sam and Delilah.
Nevertheless, I would recommend picking up Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

Geneva Bay's Taste of Wisconsin Cook-off is fast approaching. In this event, $10,000 will be awarded to the business with the best recipe that showcases the local flavors of the region. For Delilah to keep her restaurant afloat, she really needs this money. However, it seems that everything is going wrong. It involves everything from Delilah's disappearing bratwurst to the contest judge's grudge against her and her best friend Sonya. It turns out, however, that isn't the worst part.

I loved this story. It had a number of intriguing mysteries with some clever twists, but my favorite part was the touching ending. Thanks to St. Martin's Paperbacks and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

A story of hard working folks encountering mystery, murder and mayhem. Follow the steps to the food competition with the employees of a smoothie shop and a specialty pizza shop. Root for a couple of blooming romances and follow the clues to the mysteries.

This is a cozy mystery series centered around a deep dish pizza restaurant, and its owner, Delilah O’Leary. In this entry, a smoothie at a neighboring restaurant is poisoned, and said restaurant just happens to be owned by the new girlfriend of Delilah’s ex-fiancé.

Here’s the thing with this series-it’s good. I just don’t love it the way I love some other cozy mystery series. Quigley delivers a fine read, but it’s not must read for me.

The second in Mindy Quigley's deep-dish pizza series. Delilah is once again at the centre of Det. Capone's investigation, this time involving a death at Juice Revolution which is a new smoothie restaurant opened in town by Sam's new girlfriend, Jordan. Delilah and Son and Co. are also preparing for a food festival that is to be judged by their old boss, Graham Ulrich. But then bad turns to worse when Ulrich himself turns up dead also, putting both Sonya and Graham's ex-wife, Renee, in the crosshairs of the investigation as the prime suspects. Delilah is also worried about Aunt Biz, as she has been acting more moody and secretive than usual lately.

This was a good second installment in this series and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It seemed to deviate a bit more from the usual formulaic cozy "script" which made it more interesting than usual. If there are more books in this series, I will be eager to pick up a copy to catch back up with my friends in Geneva Bay again. *I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and have decided to voluntarily provide a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

No second book syndrome here! I really enjoyed this one and may prefer it over book 1. Maybe because the first book always sets up the characters that for this one, I already knew them and was ready to love them even more!

I totally guessed in the beginning who the killer was but then ended up changing it and dang it, I was right the first time! Don’t you love when you guess correctly? I know I do!

It was great being back with Delilah and Sonya. I love their friendship and can’t wait to see it grow more in the next book. And Detective Capone! I’m even more curious about him & Delilah. There’s definitely something there between them. Aunt Biz was hilarious and loved her recipe in the back. So funny!! And that ending. I really loved it with Delilah, Sam, and Butterball and just figuring out the next step.

This cozy was packed with recipes (6!!) and I really liked that it was told in the characters voices. I’m thinking about making that deconstructed pretzel deep-dish. Yum 😋

Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust is the second book in Mindy Quigley's Deep Dish Mystery series. I enjoyed Six Feet Deep Dish, the first in the series, and was excited for the opportunity to review the second.

We join our protagonist, Delilah, as she prepares to compete in Geneva Bay's "Taste of Wisconsin." She could use the $10k cash prize, but not as much as she can use the free publicity and bragging rights that could put her new restaurant on the map. Without the financial support of her wealthy former fiance, Sam, Delilah & Son's budget is tight. Sam has moved on to greener pastures with Jordan, owner of Juice Revolution bar, a popular new Geneva Bay hot spot and, before long, site of death by smoothie.

So many subplots! But they keep the pace moving, and it all comes together in the end:

-An unwelcome figure from sous chef Sonya's past turns up, which could jeopardize the future of Delilah & Son's.
-The restaurant's mob-related history plays a role in this book, as does her chubby and inquisitive cat, who is struggling to adjust to shuttling back and forth between Deliah and Sam as part of their shared custody arrangement.
-Aunt Biz is in trouble yet again, or so it seems, but Deliah can't get her to talk about it.
-The very attractive Detective Capone is back again.

Whether you start with this book or read the series from the beginning, you’re in for a great ride!

I received this advanced reader copy of Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review.

This cozy foodie mystery was an enjoyable, if very predictable, way to spend a few hours. The characters were fun and quirky and the pizza shop was a fun setting. The writing wasn't great but it didn't stop me from finishing the book.

Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust is the second installment in the series. I have not read the first but found it easy to follow the story and the characters. This was a fun read. I enjoyed both the characters and story. I also enjoyed the recipes at the end. I look forward to the next. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.

This second in a new cozy series is an enjoyable book and worth your time. There’s food, mysteries to solve, characters to encounter, a cat that rules over all he surveys. What more could you want? The author does an excellent job of telling the story of Delilah O’Leary’s efforts to keep her gourmet pizza restaurant open as the tourist season in Geneva Bay, Wisconsin, comes to an end. Delilah wants to win the $10,000 prize at the Taste of Wisconsin Cook-Off, featuring local restaurants and a celebrity judge. When a customer at a local juice bar dies as Delilah is there, meeting her ex-boyfriend, things don’t quite add up. From there, the pace continues to build the mysteries and the suspense. Solid story; clever ending. I look forward to the next in this series.

Delilah is fresh off a breakup and trying to keep her gourmet pizzeria afloat in beautiful Geneva Bay, Wisconsin. Winning the local culinary contest would help her bottom line. But, before she can entirely focus on her entry, she must investigate the murder of a man who drank a tainted smoothie at her rival's smoothie bar. And her rival happens to be none other than the new woman in her ex's life.

I was so excited to read this, and it did not disappoint! The debut book in this series was strong, but this one is even better. A fast-paced mystery with a layered plot, humor, plenty of clues and red herrings, and a few twists, this was thoroughly entertaining from start to finish. I love these characters, who are full of personality and vividly written—especially Delilah, who makes me laugh with her funny internal dialogue and one-liners. The recipes at the end are presented from the POV of several of the side characters and are such a fun (and delicious) touch! Another fun aspect is the history of the building Delilah's restaurant occupies. It was formerly a mob hangout and is an ongoing source of unpredictable and dicey revelations. Even the handsome detective has the last name Capone, as in he's related to Al Capone. Can't wait to read the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to review this ARC. I loved it!

This was a fun mystery read! I enjoyed it very much, and I loved Butterball the cat! I never read the first book in this series, so I’ll have to go check that one out.

Delilah O’Leary keeps trying to create a deep-dish pizza featuring bratwurst to enter Geneva Bay’s Taste of Wisconsin Cook-Off and win the $10,000 first prize. Then comes the alarming news that this year’s judge is Graham Ulrich, a celebrity chef, who humiliated Delilah’s BFF and sous chef Sonya-Perlman-Dokter over her affair with Graham’s wife.

Another surprise comes when Delilah discovers her ex-fiance is dating Jordan, a juice bar owner and rival in the cook-off. Delilah meets Jordan when she arranges to meet Sam and drop off Butterball, their custody-shared cat, at Juice Revolution. However, things get wild at the juice bar when a customer seizes and drops dead. That brings Detective Capone into the mix, only to discover that the customer was poisoned.

Threatening notes left at the juice bar suggest Jordan may be the target, not the random customer who died. Next, Graham shows up early for the Cook-Off since he is involved in setting up a new business. When Graham is found murdered at the site of his latest venture, his wife Renee becomes the primary suspect.

Dealing with two murders is challenging, but then Delilah discovers her Aunt Biz is about to lose her home over $50,000 in unpaid property taxes.

Mindy Quigley builds a riveting mystery filled with red herrings, tangled twists, and fascinating characters. Her story is delivered at a steady suspense-driven pace. And there is an amusing, yet critical solution, to how diet-restricted Butterball keeps gaining weight.

I really liked this second story in the Deep Dish mystery series. All the elements of the mystery came together well in the end and totally took me by surprise as to who the murderer. was. I enjoyed continuing to get to know the characters in the series, and I feel like there could be a future relationship between Delilah and Capone. I will definitely be looking forward to the next installment in the series!

Delilah is hoping to win a foodie contest but not by murdering one of her competitors. And Detective Calvin Capone (yes, yes he is) knows it but he still puts her on the suspect list. And then someone else, well, dies. Delilah is lucky to have good friends, Great-aunt Biz, and Butterball the cat on her side. Oh, and Sam, her former fiance, who is a good egg. While this is standard cozy stuff, Quigley does a good job of keeping it fresh and fun. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. While it's the second n the series, it will be fine as a standalone. I'm looking forward to the next one.

A good follow in this series with plenty of food and action. The mystery was zippy, with plenty of red herrings and the characters are fleshing out quite nicely. Add in the almost romance and it was a fun read for all.

Ashes to Ashes, Crust to Crust is the second Deep Dish cozy mystery by Mindy Quigley. Due out 25th April 2023 from Macmillan on their St. Martin's Press imprint, it's 320 pages and will be available in mass market paperback, audio, and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately.

This is an engaging light shopfront cozy with an appealing female protagonist pizza-shop owner and her partner and best friend, a chubby tabby cat, and a prediliction for stumbling over mysteries. It's full of the sort of small town quirky eccentric characters which populate cozies to readers' delight.

The plot arc is admittedly a tiny bit trope-y but quite entertaining and it's a fun read overall. The denouement and resolution are satisfyingly self-contained in this book, but there's a third book planned for release in late 4th quarter 2023.

There are more than the usual number of pizza themed recipes included in the back of the book including some very fancy (and detailed) pizzas based on nduja (Calabrian spreadable sausage) and a Bulgarian specialty cheese.

Four stars. Highly recommended for fans of humorous light shopfront cozies like those from Ellie Alexander, Laurie Cass, and Peggy Ehrhart.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.
