This was such a fun read with my 5-year-old and the mystery was intriguing to both of us. The illustrations are bright and beautiful, as well. Would definitely read more in this series.
One morning, three sets of Wellington boots belonging to a little girl named River wake up to discover that one of their number - a yellow set named Teddy - is missing.
Amidst a series of hilarious exchanges, everyone from the umbrella to the coat hanger gets in on the act, each with a different theory about what has happened to Teddy.
Suspicion immediately falls on Murphy the puppy, and once River comes down for breakfast, the hunt for Teddy really takes off - with some outside expertise also being brought in...
It did make me wonder why one little girl would have 4 sets of Wellington boots, but the idea to animate everyday household objects was a fun concept.
The story would have perhaps flowed better with fewer characters. Still, this was a really cute narrative. And the best part of the book were the fantastic illustrations.
This book was so much fun, I love these characters, in this book the wellies wake up to find Teddy missing so they embark on a mission to find their friend.
This is truly the perfect read for kids, they are going to be completely enchanted by the amazing story and the very well done illustrations.
I’m definitely recommending it!
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review
Beautiful illustrations, but story was mediocre. It felt like information overload (especially for a children’s book) and the story is too much to follow, to keep the attention of a child.
I thought that this book was a really fun read!
I read the book with my 5 year old daughter and she really enjoyed it, this is definitely a book that allows younger ones to use their imagination – this is the second book we have read in the Yellow Wellie series and this was just as good as the first one!
The writing style was great, it was easy to follow and understand and she read the majority of the book to me herself apart from a couple of words that she was unsure of. This book had a bit of suspense and mystery – where did the missing wellie go!?
The illustrations worked really well with the story too to bring the book to life and we liked the ending too.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, we both enjoyed it – highly recommended!

One of the standout features of the book is the illustrations by Misha Jovanovic. The colorful and playful illustrations bring the story to life, making it easy for children to follow along and imagine themselves in the world of the dogs. Jovanovic's use of different perspectives and angles adds depth and dimension to the characters and the setting, making it a joy to flip through the pages.

The dialogue between the dogs is witty and fun, adding an extra layer of humor to the book. The pacing of the story is just right, keeping readers engaged and guessing until the end.

The book is not only entertaining but also teaches children valuable lessons about teamwork, problem-solving, and friendship.
What a fun read with household items as personalities!
This was a little longer if a read but the artwork was colorful and fun. The words were is a sort of cursive and larger paragraphs per page so be aware this is meant for parents to be reading to the wee ones.
My kids loved this but I’d say the kids need to be a little older to hang in there. I would recommend this for ages 5-11.
The yellow wellies have a mystery and a new adventure, as they wake up and find that Teddy is missing. With the fear that River’s pup Murphy may have eaten him, the wellies set off to search everywhere and even recruit a detective wellie to help solve the case.
This was so funny and such an interesting mystery. I liked the new elements with introducing Murphy the puppy and the possible crime being in their own back yard. I really liked trying to solve the cute mystery with the wellies, I also liked the River snook out again and tried to help them figure it out.
This was a really great read, I really enjoyed it. The cute yellow wellies always have such whimsical and fun adventures with River. They were scared of Murphy after what he’d done before, but were so brave they faced him head on and found their friend and learnt so much more after.
Such a great adventure series for young children, they’ll really enjoy following along and seeing the wellies come alive, opening up a world of imagination, it’s a perfect book for children and I highly recommend them. Not to forgot the beautiful and bright illustrations on every single page so you can really see their adventures they go on.
This is the story of a group of Wellie (rain boots) friends who are trying to find their missing friend Teddy, they search high and low, near and far, they get advice from some umbrella's and a wellie detective. There is plenty of humor and a happy ending for everyone. The pictures are brightly colored to keep kids attention and the story is easiest enough for young readers to read with minimal assistance.
An adorable story – boots have the most hilarious conversations, and other household items join in, all while River (the child) is asleep. And then River wakes up and joins all the items in their wild explorations. The story gets really, really wild (and super fun too!).
Just like the first book, this one has the most beautiful, most exquisite drawings, also quite whimsical and cute at the same time. I love the faces all the items make in the drawings!
I kind of see how this is not a book for everyone out there, yet I find this one (just like the first one) absolutely charming. This is not a tale where morals are spoon-fed and where educational opportunities jump out of each page, yet the story is highly entertaining, the language is fun, alive, and bubbly, and the drawings are just perfect also. If you are looking for a story about wild and vivid imagination, with a very creative approach to it – you and your child are going to love this book (and the previous book also).
Meanwhile, I am just really hoping to see more books by this author coming soon!
This was really well illustrated, and that was why it got 2 stars. Because the story was really not working for me. I found it confusing with a lot of characters that kind of went off in all directions. I will admit that I haven't read the first book, so maybe that would have alleviated some of my confusion. But the book really didn't do a lot to explain who the characters were, why one child would be wearing 4 pairs of boots in a single day, and how everything fit together. The umbrellas just dropped into the story, and the dog was introduced but we didn't actually meet them until the book was almost done.
So, illustrations = gorgeous. Story = less than stellar.
I think it had the potential to be interesting. I also don't think that my disappointment is because I'm an adult. I don't think that a child in a read aloud situation would really follow the story either.
Lastly, the font was really hard to read. I had to zoom in very tight on the text. Thought it was my eyes, but then I asked my son and he said it was just too fancy and equally hard for him to read. And he's almost the right target age.
