Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I wasnt sure what to expect when I started this one but i did find myself a little upset at the cop who wanted an autograph after treating him crappy. Figures.
Tupac Behind Bars by Michael Christopher was a different look at Tupac’s life because it was told by a CO that deal with Tupac when he was in prison for his sexual assault charges right before his death.
As a huge Tupac fan I loved this book and this insight into this side of Tupac. I also found it kind of scary how Christopher said he told Tupac to think about joining forces with Suge Knight because he was more or less making a mistake. It was almost like he was washing him to stay away from that evil man. How thing could have changed if Tupac would have listened or even served his entire time. Maybe we would still have him.
Tupac Behind Bars gets five out of five stars from me because I enjoyed reading about this side of this Tupac and thinking about how things could have changed.
Tupac is portrayed in a very candid light by the author who was also his correctional officer, Michael Christopher. We don't often hear of friendships behind bars, but it was very enjoyable to see how the relationship between the two evolved during the short time Tupac was incarcerated. His personality emerges with the story, and it makes him appear human, intelligent, and at times even emotional. Fans of Tupac should definitely add this title to their collection.
