I read/reviewed (and loved) Kieffer's [book:Baking for the Holidays: 50+ Treats for a Festive Season|56756035] when it came out back in December 2021, so was particularly excited to read/review _100 Morning Treats_ as well.

Just as with _Baking for the Holidays_, this cookbook is beautifully presented and photographed. The recipes are clear and easy to follow, and don't include (too many :D) hard-to-find ingredients, and I'd be particularly glad to try a number of the muffins and scones--here's looking at you, Maple Oatmeal Scones! (I like to think I must be Canadian, I love maple-flavored things so much.)

I'll admit that I probably wouldn't try actually making most of the recipes for breakfast--in the morning, anyway. Many are a bit more effort than I'm willing to expend pre-food; I need food to make food? LOL! But, they'd be well worth the effort for a brunch or making ahead over the weekend. And, my own dietary needs preclude making much in the way of yeasted products ... but man, do they look good. (Someone please try them and let me live vicariously through you!) So, it's a bummer to miss out on a whole section of the book--but that's on me, not the author. :) There are still plenty of other recipes I'd certainly enjoy.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I love breakfast treats and this cookbook did not disappoint. The instructions were easy to follow and the recipes turned out just like I imagined. Cannot wait to cook more from this book!

I received a copy through NetGalley for review.

I've seen some of the other books this author has put out, so I was very excited to see a strictly breakfast edition.

While a good portion of the book does have yeast based dough recipes, and if complicated doughs and treats are too much for you, I'm also happy to report there are plenty of recipes in here that are are straightforward and won't require that kind of extra effort.

Muffins, scones, quick breads, coffee cakes and bunt cakes, sweet yeasted and fried treats, Laminated pastries and more.
All the ingredients are things that can be easily found, they aren't overly fussy or complicated like some cook books I've come across, which was nice.

But I think this would be a great book to add to anyone's collection.
I'm looking forward to trying these.

I haven't made anything out of the book yet, but I am dying to after flipping through it. I read the introduction and the special notes on the ingredients first, and I thought that was interesting and informative. The recipes all look delicious and the recipes, upon first glance, look easy to follow. There are also a lot of pictures, which is a must have for me in all cookbooks!

This was a book that had me circling and writing down the recipes to share with family and friends. This is a great addition to the 100 series by Sarah Kieffer. I can not wait to add it to my collection of cookbooks. The recipes range in skill level but the instructions make it easy to follow along and create yummy dishes. It does not disappoint.

Extensive morning treats....

Wow! This is both an extensive and comprehensive book on all things morning treats.
My one word of caution may be that it is designed for an intermediate to experienced baker, and perhaps not so much an absolute beginner. There are techniques that use lamination and for me, that means more than just basic kitchen skills (ie, cruffin recipes).

Sarah Kiefer delivers a thoroughly appetizing cookbook with step by step instructions and acommpanied by helpful photos.

Highly recommend. 100 Morning Treats makes me want to tackle the recipes I thought I would never even attempt.

This book is great! It has tons of recipes and almost all of them sound delicious. The recipes are easy to follow and simple enough that I can complete them, even with my limited cooking ability. The recipes I have tried taste great too!

The morning treats in this cookbook are all delicious and mouthwatering, but all make more sense as snacks to buy from a coffee shop than anything for a home cook. Though the book begins with easier recipes and moves towards ones that require a lot of skill, even the simplest dishes need hours of prep work. A lot of labor is hidden in the ingredients list, including the dough. For example, the Bourbon Vanilla Cinnamon Rolls (which are amazing, btw) require more than seven steps, not including making the dough. The dough recipes are all at the end of the book, making it somewhat inconvenient to determine what each recipe needs. Nonetheless, this is a good cookbook for hardcore bakers who want to make bakery quality treats at home. Invite me over, I'll be happy to sample them, but making them myself would require a prep cook and a very generous definition of morning, as it would be late afternoon before I finished any of the treats.

This is a great breakfast cookbook with a pretty complete list of basic breakfast pastries and then jazzed up versions. A lot of recipes seem very achievable. This is definitely one I will pick up to keep as a breakfast reference!

“100 Cookies” might just be my favorite baking cookbook, and “100 Morning Treats” shares the same great format, but with baked goods for breakfast instead.

At least to me, and probably a good portion of people, morning treats are just not as exciting as cookies. They’re also a lot harder to bake. “100 Cookies” can be appreciated by the beginning baker, but they might be intimidated by “100 Morning Treats,” despite the instructions and pictures. I’m an intermediate baker, and I didn’t find anything too complicated.

As a vegetarian, it’s worth noting that there are a few savory recipes with meat, which lowers the pool of usable recipes, but it’s not many. Recipe highlights for me are the Orange Buns and Passion Fruit Crème Fraiche Breakfast Squares.

Thank you Chronicle books and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this wonderful book. This great book with mouthwatering pictures provides a variety of from scratch recipes for morning treats (muffins, buns, croissants, donuts, breads, etc). A wonderful addition to any baking enthusiast’s cookbook collection.

Morning is one of my favorite times for baked goods, and this book does not disappoint. The recipes are in chapters on Muffins, Scones, and Quick Breads; Coffee Cakes and Bundt Cakes; Sweet Yeasted and Fried Treats; Laminated Pastries; The Weekend; Base Doughs and Breads; and Extras.
The full color photos with the recipes look delicious. Some of the items, like Bundt cakes and tarts especially, could also be desserts. I'd love to be having practically anything in here tomorrow morning - I don't know if I can choose what to make first.

I had not read any of this author's previous books or her blog, but I was really delighted by this cookbook. The recipes were well-written and approachable, with easily sourced ingredients (and some substitutions listed when possible). Her writing style in the headnotes and the recipes themselves was conversational and easy to read. I will say that some of the recipes skewed more towards "dessert" in my mind, as opposed to being a "breakfast/morning" meal, but there are a few savory options that add a nice variety. The recipes also varied in terms of level of effort required, providing both simpler and quicker dishes along with more complex ones for the days when you feel like a real baking project. I did appreciate the inclusion of both volume and weight measurements, since that can really impact the outcome of baked goods. The design and photos were also attractive and appealing and the bibliography was a nice touch for additional baking inspiration. For me, the mark of a good cookbook is how many recipes I want to make after reading it; by this measure, the book has succeeded, as I've noted down quite a few recipes I want to try (Apricot White Chocolate Overnight Scones, Lemon Meringue Bread, Tiramisu Bundt Cake, and Orange Buns, just to name a few).

100 Morning Treats is as delightful to browse through as it is to bake through. I have her cookie book and was already a huge fan, so I was thrilled to have a chance to review this book. I baked a few of the treats inside and can attest to the great instructions and pictures inside. One element I enjoyed in her book is the variety. It truly is a book of morning treats, not just breads or muffins or tray bakes. Within its pages, 100 Morning Treats has something for just about everyone and it will be a staple of my kitchen.

100 Morning Treats: With Muffins, Rolls, Biscuits, Sweet and Savory Breakfast Breads, and More by Sarah Kieffer is currently scheduled for release on May 9 2023. These baking projects will bring delight to your family breakfast, a Sunday brunch or bake sale, a morning at the office, or kids' soccer practice. Whatever your preference alongside your morning cup of coffee or tea—sweet or savory, buttery or flaky, hot off the griddle or taken to go—you'll find a recipe for it here, from coffee cakes to danishes, doughnuts, scones, quick breads, quiches, and muffins galore! Filled with more than 120 inspiring photographs, including how-tos for doughs and shaping, and instructions for prepping the night before and baking in the morning.

100 Morning Treats is a well rounded book for those that love to bake, and those that want to improve their knowledge and recipe base in baking. I thought the introduction and tips and other information included in the beginning of the book was well written and chosen, and that the book was laid out and organized well. The pictures were well chosen and made me eager to try my hand at the recipes, and if I am honest reading the descriptions and looking at the pictures made me a bit hungry and craving something freshly baked. I like that the ingredient measurements are given in metric and imperial units- so everyone can easily follow the recipes without having to do conversions and extra calculations. I thought the recipes were easy to follow and well written. The extra informational box content through out the book was helpful and interesting. There was a nice variety of recipes, something for everyone. While the classics were covered, so were some recipes I have never seen. I honestly cannot wait to test a few of these out in coming weeks. Ones I am looking forward to the most are: Grapefruit Glazed Muffins, Lemon Meringue Bread, Strawberry Knots, and the Chocolate Pudding Bundt Cake.

100 Morning Treats is a wonderful collection of recipes, and if I had anymore room for physical books this would be joining my collection. It just might anyway.

I recently picked up 100 Morning Treats by Sarah Kieffer and I have to say, I am blown away. From the visually appealing photos to the step-by-step instructions, this cookbook is a must-have for any baker looking to add some excitement to their morning routine.

What I love about this cookbook is how approachable the recipes are. Each one is presented in a way that makes the baker feel like they can conquer it, no matter their skill level. And with 100 recipes to choose from, I am having a hard time deciding which to tackle next.

Overall, I would give 100 Morning Treats five stars and highly recommend it to anyone looking to up their breakfast or brunch game. With its beautiful photography, clear instructions, and delicious recipes, this cookbook has quickly become a staple in my kitchen.

I love the way Sarah Kieffer writes recipes. Her book, 100 Cookies, is in regular rotation at my house and 100 Morning Treats appears to follow the same format. She includes both weights and measures. I use both, depending on my mood, and I love the specificity and persnickety-ness (?) of her writing. So far, every recipe I’ve ever made using her instructions has turned out. The morning treats include items you could expect to find in a cute coffee shop or diner. I look forward to trying out more of these recipes and I expect it will become as well-loved as her other cookbooks.
