So cute and fun to read, for kids, yoga teachers, or family yoga session. Great to have in your studio and offer kids reading and meditation. Love love this cute masterpiece
I really liked the art work and it was cute. I kinda wish there was more descriptions about meditation in the book, but I can see how a kid would like this book.
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. This book is a fun story with rhyming text about dinosaurs who meditate. There is minimal text making it an excellent book for young readers.
Read with my five year old who is still obsessed with dinosaurs. He thought it was cute. We even tried some of the mediations at the end. :)
Super cute and easy read that all little Dino lovers are sure to enjoy.
As always, thanks again to the publisher and netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
In the form of dinosaurs, where Rex is the most raucous of them all, here's a story, which I can assume to help over-energized kids to take some quiet time. Just like Rex. It is not easy, but you can do it. And kids can too!! To have a quiet time (and quiet house!) you can read and ask kids to do this, maybe together with older siblings or parents. This will help kids to balance their life and less cranky (in my opinion).
Kids love dinosaurs and I love yoga and meditating, so this is a great addition to storytimes with the kiddos!
Thanks NetGalley for the preview!
This book is a wonderful explanation and example of what to do when you’re angry. You can put yourself in the Dino’s shoes and follow along to each scenario. Wonderful as a class read aloud or just one on one. Great for toddlers learning to handle big feelings.
I always love a book that promotes children (and adults) taking a pause from the daily grind and hustle to breathe. Super cute little dino meditations and relatable characters for elementary age kiddos.
This was a really fun book. My kids really enjoyed it with me. I loved how it shows dinos (peoples) differences and how they can become strengths. How someone can try new things and grow through it.
I really like this book! Geared a bit more towards boys with the dinosaur buy in, this is the perfect book to teach kids who are reluctant to try calming strategies that they can be helpful and used by anyone, It also shows that if you practice them when you are calm, you will know what to do when you're afraid or upset. The illustrations and wording and fun and really add to the story. I could definitely see myself reading this story to an early elementary class in the k-3 range, but I think younger children, or older kids with additional needs could also benefit from reading this book with an adult. Thanks to much to netgalley and the publisher for sharing this awesome book with me!
This book illustrates that every dino needs to take time out, even if they don’t like to meditate. Meditating helps calm the mind and body. In this book we have 2 dinos, Rex, a terrible tyranno and Sam, a much calmer and bigger being. Part of the story is told in a rhyming pattern. These are the parts where the dinos are speaking, and it works quite well. However, the author leaves off the cadence and rhyming pattern to describe the scene, which takes the reader out of the story and making it seem much longer that it is.
Loved this! I'm always looking for more dinosaur books for my Storytime's so this is great! Love that this could also be used in a meditation program for kids! Will definitely be using this in some programs in the future when it comes out officially!
Daft in all the right ways, this has two contrasting dinosaurs – one is all about dancing around and rampaging and piggy-backing on flying pterodactyls, while the other is so much more zen, and a fan of breathing exercises and meditative mantras. Surely there's no way for the first to learn to be like the other? While no classic, this certainly is a decent look at pulling back on the full-on-ometer, dialling things down and letting everyone take a breather. To that end it damn well beats a Ritalin addiction, so a healthy four stars.

I thought this was cute story that preschool or elementary age kids will really enjoy. I love how the story teaches why meditation and mindfulness can be helpful tools to find calm in your life.
The illustrations are really detailed and bright in colors. My only negative comment was scale of the dinosaurs. I'm not sure why they seem so small to their surroundings. The Trex seems very short and stubby. It also at times looks a bit off.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sounds True Publishing for this advanced reader copy. My review is voluntarily my own.
I will be posting my review to my Instagram page the.littlest.bookworm and retail sites close or on publication.
What an adorable book! I really like the storyline, the idea is very fresh! This book teaches children to be mindful not to get angry and tantrum easily. The selection of characters is very precise, Trex is a dinosaur that is famous for being vicious. Trex will learn to meditate in this book, can Trex practice meditation? Find the answer in this book you will really like this book
The illustrations in this book are very cute, I really like the Trex character when he's angry and calms down. The other dino characters are also very cute.
Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for accepting me to read and review this delightful book
What a great story for kids! Showing kids that slowing down, breathing and being mindful is a way to reset and become calm. The characters were fun, and the illustrations were so colorful. This book would be a wonderful addition to any family or classroom library. I know I will share this with my grandkids!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my review.
An important book about breathing, slowing down, and meditating that everyone can learn from- I know I did. The illustrations are gorgeous. I can’t wait to read this to my children.
A playful, prehistoric take on mindfulness! This fun and playful story is sure to be a hit as a read-aloud option in libraries and classrooms, especially for little ones who feel a bit like Rex, ready to "maim and maul"! Though the text is accessible and the rhyme scheme will keep smaller children interested, this book also makes good use of more complex vocabulary and offers a great language development opportunity. The mini meditation suggestions at the end of the tale are especially charming and will make this a great addition to a classroom library for PreK-2 teachers.
I think this book would work great for little kids and Storytimes. The main premise of introducing meditation/yoga to a young audience is there, and while I think dinosaurs are always a hit with this audience, I'm not sure the two blend together. The puns also felt a little forced and there are some terms used for alliteration that these younger children aren't going to understand. Still, it's a cute book with a good premise and of course, dinosaurs, which most kids will love anyways.
Dinos Don't Meditate begins with Rex, a larger-than-life dinosaur, continually being rambunctious and not allowing his friends to meditate. He eventually sees the benefits of meditation and relaxation. Overall, this book was adorable and the illustrations were fabulous and would be a great book for children starting yoga/meditation.
