This book was provided to me by Netgalley, so I can read and review it before it’s published.

The only reason I read this book is because I loved her character, Lila Garrity, on Friday Night Lights! But unfortunately, she doesn’t talk much about that show. I am pretty sure that she has a lot of material written down so she can write another book on Friday Night Lights. This book focuses a lot more on her childhood, and boy, it sure was rough. I had no idea.

Her father was a musician and was out of the picture for most of her childhood (although, she did have another father figure in her life), and her mother struggled to makes ends meet. They took shelter wherever they could. She does discuss her mom’s death due to cancer, but it wasn’t too depressing the way she described it.

I had no clue that Minka was a surgeon’s assistant and scrub technician.

I also had no clue that Minka worked in a peep show so she could make some money to help her move and get out of a relationship. He mom also worked a similar job to make money and even brought a young Minka to that place of work.

Overall, it was a quick and easy read for me.

Great great story of Minka's life. I was mesmerized reading about Minka's life. I loved the tie in at the end of this about woman empowerment and her journey through therapy.

Thank you netgalley for this ARC!

So when i saw this novel on netgalley it caught my eye because i love memoirs and i loved the cover and i knew of minka kelly but didnt know much so i decided to read about her to get to know more of her and her life and i am so glad i got approved for this ARC.. This memoir was so vulnerable and sad at times regarding minks upbringing and childhood and all the things she went through and still came out so strong this memoir is FILLED with stories and honestly alot of memoirs sometimes dont share as much as others but this memoir was such an honest piece of work and im so glad minka shared her story with everyone i felt like minka was speaking to the reader as u read her stories and reading the things she went through growing up. It took you too different places like albuquerque and hollywood. She was so open with the reader regarding having a family member who was struggling with addiction and how that effects the people around them from abuse in different forms , relationships, friendships, hardships from living with alot of people and going through things from being stuck in that situation but all these things she went through made her so much stronger today.. this memoir was so good and written so well. I think the memoir fans will LOVE this novel. I could not put this novel down thank you minka for sharing your story with the world!

As someone that doesnt typically read a ton of biographies, this one really gripped me. I stayed up 3 hours later than I typically do because I had to finish it in one day. WOW, i have a whole new respect for Minka Kelly and all that shes been through. Her child was horrific and filled with all levels of abuse. However, she really never pulls the "poor me" card but rather uses this memoir as a way to heal and work through her regret on how her relationship with her mother transpired. It was gripping and heartbreaking. Any one who has lost a close family member can also relate to that portion of this book. My only compliant is that outside of her friday night lights personal love story, you dont get much of her celebrity life or love story. Spoiler alert: when she mentions a miscarriage and incredible heartbreak, i was dying to know the gossip if who it was with. We dont get much of that in this novel, as shes very protective other peoples privacy. However, as a fan, i would have loved more of her hollywood life and a look behind the scenes. Especially given her incredible roster of who she has dated before! that being said, i understand that wasnt the point of this book. Maybe one day she will write her Hollywood story as a followup - i would be sure to read it!

I did not know a lot about Minka Kelly aside from her role on Friday Night Lights. And after the show, I would occasionally see her online but she fell off my radar. I had no idea what to expect when I began reading this. This book was stunning and shocking and completely took me off guard. I honestly just felt so sad for her throughout. Her childhood was horrific, her relationship with her mother was heartbreaking and what she has been through is shocking. I credit her for leading the life she has despite all of this trauma and creating a life to be proud of. If you liked "Im glad my mother died" you will enjoy this read. It's raw and real and will tear at your heartstrings. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a great memoir. Minka Kelly has opened up her life in a way that shows the complex and conflicted feelings in her relationship with her Mom who was an inconsistent, troubled, chaotic, loving force in her life. First introduced to Minka Kelly her great role in Friday Night Lights, I had no idea she endured and survived so much. I’m grateful for the strength and perseverance it must have taken to share her life within this book. Whew. What a brave endeavor! Thanks to Henry Holt and Co for the advanced copy. Go get this one.

You know I had to read the Lyla Garrity memoir! Unfortunately, only like 1% of the book is about Friday Night Lights, while the majority focuses on her fraught relationship with her mother. She writes about her difficult and compelling upbringing with such transparency, I would recommend this for fans of “I’m Glad My Mom Died”.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

4.5 rounded up. Trigger warnings abound, but this story of childhood trauma was beautifully told. Written truthfully and transparently, I was impressed with her level of self-awareness and refusal to succumb to any kind of victim mentality. She took ownership of her life, but fully acknowledges the strokes of luck and the people who led to her success. I related to so much of her story with the exception of her ability to forgive. Her grace and forgiveness inspired me and prompted some soul-searching of my own.

Minka Kelly is best known for her role as Lyla Garrity on Friday Night Lights--a golden girl, a beautiful cheerleader from a prominent family who dates the town's quarterback. In this beautiful, moving and inspirational memoir, she says that people often assumed she came from a background like Lyla's, since she was so good at appearing like she had it all together, and she let them. In TELL ME EVERYTHING, she comes clean, starting with her stint working at a peep show and moving backwards in time from there, to her upbringing by a larger-than-life, charismatic mother, who also happened to do drugs, work as a stripper, and date erratic, sometimes violent men. Minka was exposed to all of it: the joy and the pain of having a sparkly but troubled mom. As someone who has also weathered some traumatic childhood experiences, I appreciated the wisdom and insights from her present-day self that are sprinkled throughout the book. Her choice to tell the story in the past tense is a good one, and provides ample room for self reflection She has clearly done a lot of work on herself, and it shows, producing the best kind of memoir: one where the reader watches her grow up before our very eyes, and we also grow, too. A beautiful, important read.

This book covered some very heavy topics. Kelly’s life journey is awe inspiring. I commend her bravery and strength to have overcome and heal from the past.

Her self awareness and growth really shined thru the pages as I was reading. Her advocacy for mental health was much appreciated.

Wow.
I knew very little about Minka Kelly prior to reading this. I've seen one of her movies and one of her shows, so I went in blind. I'm so happy I did. Like Minka Kelly alludes to, I thought she came from a wealthy family. Boy was I wrong with that assumption. I was sucked in to how Minka grew up, what her daily struggles were, how to fights those traumas and battles everyday. I loved reading about her relationship with her mom, how toxic and traumatizing it was but how beautiful it turned out.
Minka was vulnerable and honest. Im so happy I read her story.

Lifetime movie waiting to happen ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I knew exactly two things about Minka Kelly - She was an actress and she was pretty. Having never watched an episode of FNL, I was just intrigued by the memoir of another pretty actress that had a story. I figured I’d get bored after a couple of chapters. Boy, was I wrong! Her story went from unbelievably tragic to undeniably triumphant in a mere 288 pages. The chronological beginning and middle chapters flowed well, but the later chapters did tend to jumble all together, as if she was trying to wrap up her present history quickly, feeling like she’d shared enough of her troubled past to just push to the future. It was a fascinating read that made me not only appreciate my childhood, but also made me realize, don’t judge a person by their pretty face…you never know what battles they are/have been fighting. Four stars for perspective and heart. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!

Wow! Tell Me Everything by Minka Kelly was a story about unwavering, evolving love between a mother and daughter and all the trials and tribulations life may present. This was not at all the “Friday Night Lights” tell all I was expecting, and it didn’t even matter. I was blown away by Minka’s story and was hooked on to every last word. Learning about the evolution of such a remarkable woman was inspiring and at points left my in tears.

I highly recommend this for anyone a fan of Friday Nigh Lights looking for more insight into Minka or anyone looking for an inspiring story about someone who has persevered through so much.

Even though I didn’t know Minka Kelly’s work on TV and in movies, the description of her memoir grabbed me. I found her life story to be told so well it was like seeing it through her eyes. There’s nothing quite like spending the day reading a good memoir and this one is very good indeed.

A fantastic and deeply emotional memoir! Going into this book the only thing I knew about Minka Kelly was that she was on one of my favorite shows Friday Night Lights. I never could have guessed her back story and how much she over came to get to where she is today. If you like moving memoirs this is for you!

A resilient survivor, I was surprised by this memoir, I'd only known Kelly from Friday Night Lights and had no idea of the breadth and depth of her experiences, I appreciate that some may fault this for not providing more show business gossip of the fluffy sort but this is a more valuable look at the industry. This is a bold memoir- and very brave- that should resonate with many, Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. Excellent read,

This book blew me away. Minka vulnerably describes her traumatic childhood from a perspective of someone who’s healing…someone who’s done the work and still does the work. She describes how her unhealthy relationship with her mother led to repeating dangerous patterns in her own interpersonal relationships, and how she dug herself out of those patterns to fall in love with herself.

I didn't know much about this actress going in except for her role on Friday Night Lights, and maybe who she was dating. For some reason I've always wanted to know a little bit more about her, so I decided to pick up this book. I'm glad I did. The writing isn't perfect, and there were times when it felt a little bit disjointed, but you get wrapped into her life and want to know more. Her relationship with her mother and with her self is what really carries this story. You see the build up of what her life is like as a young child into her teens and as a woman. Through her journey you see her growth and how it has taken her a while to get where she is now emotionally. She has had to really work to understand why she thinks the way she does and how all of the people in her life has shaped her to who she is now. She doesn't really go into much of her Hollywood roles, or her relationships with certain male celebrities, except for her time on Friday Night Lights and her dating life during that time as well. She does talk about her father and another man who raised her, but this book is more about her relationship with her mother and her love for her, no matter how destructive it could be at times. It was really hard for me, especially when she had to take care of her mom since it really hit close to home, but it really shows her emotions and her struggles. I think writing this book for her must have been very therapeutic. I sure hope so. Thanks to NetGalley and Henry Holt & Company for this ARC.
