Rosie Dean and Evan Mills knew each other in high school. Now he is back with his daughter for the summer. Rosie is raising her twins, has a bookstore that is struggling, and secretly writes a parenting advice columns. Evan's daughter and Rosie's twins become fast friends, acts like siblings, and think it feels like they are a family. But Evan and Rosie, being adults, having baggage, having responsibilities, and set in their ways, are going to need some convincing.
This is another wonderful book by Sarah Robinson, although I gasped in shock at one thing I read. But, it was revealed why she said it, and I could understand. There is a bonus book. Kiss Me in Sweetwater Springs, by Annie Rains which I enjoyed reading.
I received an ARC from Forever through NetGalley.
Rosie Dean is busy with her bookstore and raising her twins. She writes a column for the local paper on parenting advice. Evan Mills is in town with his daughter for the summer. Seems he had a crush on Rosie in high school.
The twins and Evans daughter make fast friends they are the same age. As the two adults spend some time together can they realize they were made for each other?
Evan is struggling with staying in Heart Lake are returning to Chicago and Rosie's twins dad shows up and wants to spend time with the kids.
Bonus book from Annie Rains set in Sweetwater Springs. This was a short read great story.
I loved Annnie and Sarah's books
The charming town of Heart Lake is where Rosie grew up and still lives. She is a single mom to twins with a great group of friends and family.
Evan is back in Heart Lake for the summer to help his parents. He is also raising his child alone after his wife passed away.
These two had secret crushes on each other in high school, but now their hearts are too cautious to even try. But as Rosie's and Evan's kids become fast friends, will they decide to try for more?
This was a good book and I would recommend to readers that like more realistic romances. Situations like deadbeat dads, losing a spouse, raising kids on your own, and dating as a single parent are all in this book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. All thoughts are my own. Rosie is just trying to raise her kids and run a bookstore in her hometown. She runs into a former classmate Evan, who she didn't recognize at first but was her crush in high school. Evan remembers Rosie and is just trying to raise his daughter after the sudden death of his wife. I loved the characters, this story and the town, I cannot wait for more from this author. This was a fun make your heart happy read. Totally recommend!
Such a cute book. Rosie was a single mom of twins and she runs into Evan with his daughter. His wife died and he was a single dad. He remembered her from school and thought she was even cuter now. Rosie's twin and Evan's daughter get along great and want them to get together. It's slow going and it's complicated by Evan's parents needing him to stay in town as he had only planned on staying for the summer. I loved their back and forth frustrations as something always gets in their way. A cute story with a great ending.
I got this book from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Rosie Dean’s life is full. She owns a bookshop, single parent of twins and is secretly writing parenting advice column similar to Dear Abby. Besides the daily stress all is good with her life until Evan walks into her bookshop. She does not recognize him at first just that he is a book snob and she is not impressed. Rosie and Evan’s daughter quickly become good friends and they are now forced into spending time together. Evan soon realizes he is too serious and placing too much pressure on his daughter without giving her time to grieve and remember her mother. Rosie soon learns that self-sabotage is not the way to a full and happy life.
The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane by Sarah Robinson is the perfect beach read. There is not too much thought needed in trying to anticipate what is happening next. It is a great feel good easy read. Her description of Heart Lake makes it easy to picture the water and sitting on the deserted beach or joining in the town’s celebration. Rosie’s character is also easy to identify with even for someone without twins. Her trials and tribulations are faced by most single parents but her way of dealing with them provide both humor and hopefully inspiration for someone else to rethink their situation.
Thank you NetGalley, Sarah Robinson and Forever Grand Central Publishing for the ARC in return for my honest review.
The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane, by Sarah Robinson, is about a romance set in a small town, peppered with characters you'll love. This feel-good novel is perfect for when you want a light, quick read. Thanks, NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Note: The ARC I received had a bonus book at the end. The above review is for The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane only.
4 stars
Rosie Dean loves her small town life with her twins and her small book shop in Heart Lake. Enter Evan and his daughter Tess to throw things into slight disarray. When the kids become quick friends, Rosie and Evan are forced to spend more and more time together and form a bond neither were expecting.
Cute, very fast read. Characters were easy to like and cheer for. Heartfelt storylines and fun overall. Great for a summertime beach read.
This story is terrific. It has all the feels and the underlying stories with these characters is realistic. Real life issues packed into one enjoyable read that I would love more of. Laughter, tears and of course all the love. Grab this one, a cup of coffee and be ready to spend an afternoon in a small town you will love.
Congratulations to Sarah Robinson and her newest book The Little Book Shop on Heart Lake Lane!
Rosie Dean is managing her bookstore, raising her twins alone, and writing and parenting advice column. She doesn't have time for dating. When her high school crush, Evan, comes back to town she is intrigued. Evan is a widower and single dad who's back home for the summer with his daughter to help his parents out. When Rosie sees him and his daughter in the book store he's a little bit grumpy, but the sparks start to fly. Evan never anticipated that reconnecting with Rosie would allow him to feel a sense of calm. His daughter and the twins hit it off and are spending more and more time together, leading to Rosie and Evan spending time together. Both need to decide if they can open their hearts up for a chance at love.
This was a cute story. I don't generally like a lot of "kids scenes" in my romances, but this didn't seem to bother me. I liked that the kids were spending time together and brought Evan and Rosie together. I loved watching Rosie and Evan's banter and flirting back and forth. It was almost as if they were discovering how to do that again. I also really liked the connection and emotion included in this story. There wasn't a ton of angst or drama in this book, which made for a light and quick read.
This was a sweet contemporary romance and I look forward to seeing what comes out next in these companion novels! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever publishing for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% mine.
A real feel good story. Loved the characters especially the kids. Got quite a chuckle out of them. Can't wait for the next in the series
Rosie is seemingly content with life. She runs a bookstore in her small and charming town, and she has two great kids. Evan, her high school crush, returned to town for the summer with his daughter. Their children became instant friends, but Rosie and Evan had a rocky start. As the summer progresses, chemistry begins between the parents, and Evan thinks he could stay in Heart Lake permanently. They must determine if they can open up entirely to each other or if their past could hinder their potential future.
The Little Bookstore On Heart Lake Lane is the second book in the Heart Lake series. I loved reuniting with Rosie, Nola, and Amanda and welcoming new people, especially Evan. This book warmed my heart so much. I loved the backstory of the bookstore and the brewing romance between Rosie and Evan. I love Sarah Robinson’s writing style, and I think all the children ( Zander, Becca, and Tess) made the book much better, and I loved their humor! If you want a charming and heartwarming story, go grab this book, and I can’t wait to get the next book in the series in the fall!
Thank you to Netgallery and to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for giving me a copy of the book.
I received an e-arc from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review!
This story was sooooo cute. I really liked this book because I could identify with the story in some parts like single parenting and the concerns of dating and that the characters are normal folks. I read this book in a day and half because I could not put it down.
I loved how it took Evan some time to realize on how he had to learn to open up again and how to show, cope with his feelings. His connection with his daughter was cute and he was trying his best to be a single dad. I thought he was a good dad but also needed to balance school and fun for his daughter. I loved how Evan also took care of his mom and dad while being back home for a bit.
Rosie was cool. I wished we hd a bit more backstory about her bookshop. Anyways one part in the book I liked how Rosie was thinking "Queen of the castle." Rosie was an independent woman who could do it. I liked her attitude on that. She's a great mom and her kids are a riot in this book. Her connection with the other ladies in town was sweet too.
When Evan and Rosie meet up a few times, they had some playful banter, heck even flirting which was so fun. I giggled at their comments and how they reacted afterwards. I loved the connection they had from high school and that they were aware of each other back in the day. Another connection that they had was raising kids. It was well rounded in the areas of connections between Evan and Rosie. So they were juggling with many of the same thoughts, ideas, and coping skills.
This story once again was so cute and so well written with warmth and truth and connections. The flow of the story was amazing. I could not stop reading the whole story because I wanted to know what would happen with Evan and Rosie. There were some cute moments in the story along with the kids being kids!
I will say the ending was quick. I kind of wished it lingered a bit more.
So let these questions linger in your mind: Will Evan and Rosie connect? Will they find love?
You gotta get the book to find out!
I"m glad I got the chance to read this book. I look for more stories like these!
Returning to Heart Lake for the 2nd installment was like being wrapped in a warm hug. Seriously...call Zillow! Put my house up for sale! Is there lake front property available in Heart Lake?! Reuniting with Nola, Rosie, Amanda, and Heart Lake's wonderful cast of characters makes me want to be there!! I love how this story primarily focuses on Rosie's story, but we still get to see what's happening with everyone else. Each character is built upon and it makes us love them even more!! Next installment Fall 2024....say it isn't so!!! I'll just be over here...eating my vulva cookies...anticipating it's release like Zander waiting on the next Emily Windsnap!!!
a sweet story of two single parents in a small town. very likable characters, read it in one afternoon.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC of this book!
This was a sweet, clean romance. The characters were well developed and likeable. The second chance romance was cute, but I would have enjoyed more depth to the plotline. It was an easy read and I did enjoy it.
The story line is a little to slow for me. She's a single mother with father not in the picture and he's a widower single father. They know each other from childhood. I stopped reading DNF.

What a lovely, sweet, second-chance-at-love book! I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters, even Rosie's ex, Billy! All of them were well fleshed-out, interesting and all too human - I felt as if I knew them all by the end of the book. Even the cover was perfect: it looks just the way I think a local, independent bookstore should look - I'd shop there!
Now I have to go and read book 1 of the series and then wait for the next installment in the Heart Lake series in 2024. Many thanks to the publisher & Net Galley for letting me read this charmer in exchange for an honest review.
Such a cute story. He’s a single dad. She’s a single mom. Their kids are similar ages. Everyone gets along pretty well. That’s not to say there aren’t issues, because that wouldn’t be realistic. His wife died of cancer several years before, so some of the story is him working through his emotions on moving on. And her boyfriend left her when she was pregnant with the twins, so she has some trust issues with men. But overall, this is a feel-good romance!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. Watch for The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane to come out May 23, 2023.
The Little Bookstore on Heart Lake Lane by Sarah Robinson has all the vibes of a Hallmark story.
This was a heartfelt story with amazing characters who I just fell so hard for.
Sarah Robinson has the ability to deliver the most charming stories that you can’t put down and leave you feeling all the feels.
I’ve got to read book one from the Heart Lake series because this was truly an amazing read.
