This was a sweet, (with some teary moments), and enjoyable story of love, loss, family, and starting over. I loved the simple plot, and found it refreshing to read about a character that loves the beach as much as me! My only drawback to this story is I didn't like all the characters, and especially felt that Kailee was a little more spoiled and bratty than was necessary for the story. But, I loved Ross, and Heather, (although not sure how she was married to Wall!), and rooted for them throughout the story. A great beach read!
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Heather decides it's time to leave her husband and spends the summer on Nantucket. Her son is also staying on the island all summer, working for his girlfriend's family business. At times a bit maudlin and over the top. A few of the characters were unlikeable and did not end up redeeming themselves.
A decent beach read from Thayer. 3.5
A young, in-love, couple who just finished college are eager to start their lives. Kailee is in love with Ross, she is from Nantucket and plans to take over her father's large and extremely successful construction company in the future. She's excited to join the company and Ross is excited to work for her dad starting at the bottom and working his way up the company to help Kailee run it all when her parents retire. Ross’s mom, Heather is leaving his father and unknowingly rents a place in Nantucket not knowing her son will be .living there. She wants some time to decide where and what to do with her new single life. Friction, love, beauty, and life events are all wrapped up in this lovely story. You'll shake your head, laugh, and cry, a wonderful story of life in a place to be loved. I recommend this book and know you can never go wrong with Nancy Thayer’s books they are all great. Thank you NetGalley, publishers Random House Publishing Group Ballantine books for this eARC this is my personal opinion.
A warm Nantucket story that is just charming with smart characters with tender hearts. Great beach read
As a big fan of Nancy Thayer's work, I was looking forward to this latest book. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed with it. The basic premise was promising, and the writer's love of Nantucket comes through with her beautiful descriptions of the island. That said, I had trouble with the writing of the characters. While there was one character (Kailee) that I found so detestable that it made reading her scenes a chore, my biggest issue was the writing of the women in general. The main character (Heather) is 47 years old, and many other characters are similarly aged, but I felt that they were written as if they were considerably older. As a woman that is nearly the same age, I had difficulty relating to these characters. Their thoughts and descriptions seemed a little out of touch with their real life counterparts of today.
I did find some editing issues, including a scene involving the reveal of big news that was written twice to the same character in different scenes, but as I was reading an uncorrected proof, I'm hoping that error will be caught before final printing.
All that said, I do think many longtime Thayer fans will find this to be an enjoyable read. For me, it was a solid 2.5 stars.

Another Nancy Thayer winner. This is a very heartwarming story. Heather wants out of her marriage and moves to Nantucket for the summer where she rents a small cottage and lives on her own. This is a story about relationships - family, friendships, and young love at any age. I enjoyed watching each of these relationships grow.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. I highly recommend this book!
The story of a woman whose son is graduating from college and whose husband is boring, so she rents a cottage on Nantucket. She thought that her son would be home after college to help her husband at his store, but the son has fallen for a woman from Nantucket and plans to move there to work at her father's construction company.
Relationships can be easy but many times they are difficult with learning required on both sides. So are the relationships in All the Days of Summer. A son, his girlfriend/fiance, and his mother struggle to find balance. Theirs is a relationship of misunderstandings. anxious emotions all building over one summer in Nantucket. Growth is needed on all sides.
A tender story of families learning that all is not what it seems.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was very excited to read Nancy Thayer’s newest book about life on Nantucket. Her stories of families and relationships are always interesting.
Against the background of this historically beautiful island, there is always a pleasant tale awaiting the reader.
In the process of a divorce, Heather takes a rental cottage on Nantucket, only to realize that her son, Ross and his girlfriend (soon to be fiancé) Kailee, will also be spending the summer on the island. The beginning relationship with her son’s girlfriend gets off to a rocky start. However, they spend the summer trying to get along and improve their relationship.
Life events occur which sometimes disrupt the best laid plans.
I believe that this may be the first book in a series. There were so many things left undone in this book: wedding, beginning a family, new jobs, relationships, and responsibilities, new houses. I for one am certainly curious about how things turn out. I would anxiously await a sequel to this story.
Nancy Thayer is one of my favorite summer "beach reads" author. I love this book for the complex family dynamics it explores and the many emotions I had while reading this book, including happy and sad. I still need to check, renting a summer house on the beach in Nantucket, off my bucket list and this author reminds me of that every year! #AlltheDaysofSummer #NetGalley
I love Nancy Thayer books each year. She never disappoints me. This was another engaging smart story. I really enjoyed and recommend to others.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group-Ballantine for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I always enjoy a Nancy Thayer penned story - usually a comforting beach setting and a good story. This one is along the same lines, but it's almost like I've read it before - the storyline seems really familiar.
Heather and Wall are divorcing and she takes a small cottage on Nantucket for the summer. Not knowing that her son, Ross, and his new girlfriend (Kailee) are summering on the island, too. That causes friction between the girlfriend and the mom. Heather's new life moves along smoothly, she's making friends, has a new pet, meets a nice man, etc....and Kailee's life seems to be falling apart, she's jealous of Heather, her own mother is having health problems, she's got more issues going on. But it all ends in a happily ever after - it's what you expect from Nancy's previous writings.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for a digital, temporary ARC in return for my review.
Perfect summer read - a jaunt through the island of Nantucket and different generations. Watching both a mom and her son explore the next steps in their lives as they take chances and change.
I don’t where Nancy Thayer gets her book ideas but they’re always set in Nantucket and she makes them excellent reads. Heather has come to spend the summer while she is getting a divorce. Then her son and his spoiled soon-to- be fiancé, Kailee, announce they’re going to live there also. Kailee doesn’t NOT want to share Ross with his mother and thinks Heather is out to sabotage their relationship. Heather finds herself loving her life on the island is and considering making the move permanent. When a tragedy happens the characters draw together, support each other and each finds their way to live and work together. The book is well written. There’s lots of drama, along with beautiful descriptions of the area. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.
Heather Willette has a pretty good life with a husband and son. With her son graduating college and her relationship with her husband fizzling out she wonders if that is the life she wants. Heather decides to rent a cottage on Nantucket for the summer to figure out what she wants for her future. She is not a big fan of her sons girlfriend and is surprised to discover that they are spending the summer on Nantucket with her family. There is a lot of conflict and Heather wonders if she will be able to concentrate on her future! Love this book!
Thanks to Nancy Thayer and Ballantine Books!
This was only my second Nancy Thayer book, but I was excited to read it because I love books set on Nantucket. Her descriptions of the island make me want to take a trip and see it for myself!
I went into this book thinking it would be a quick beach read with a fairly predictable storyline, however I was surprised by some of the turn of events. I enjoyed the two points of views from the future mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, as it showed how that specific type of relationship can be a difficult one to navigate. Overall, this is a great book to read while laying on the beach, by the pool, or just anywhere that makes you feel like it’s summer! I highly recommend you add it to your summer reading list!
Thanks to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an early read of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Heather Willette has had her life planned as long as she can remember, but what happens in middle age when her life doesn't go as planned? Although Heather's life seems ideal, that really isn't the case. When her only child, Ross, changes his career goal of working alongside his dad after graduating from college, Heather has to reevaluate her goals, as well,
I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. I truly liked Heather's character and rooted for her throughout the entire book. The setting of Nantucket always makes a for the perfect escape from our cold winters.
The only piece of the book I didn't care for was Kailee's character and the complete lack of communication between the characters. I found Kailee to be completely unlikable. However, I think that was Thayer's intent.
I truly enjoyed All the Days of Summer and would highly recommend it if you are looking for an enjoyable beach read. Thank you NetGalley for the arc.
I have been reading this author for years. This is not a favorite storyline unfortunately. It feels different from her usual style and I did like the main character but had difficulty getting invested in the others. Some interactions were awkward and as much as I wanted to get lost in the story it just never happened.
I was excited to be allowed to read this before publication and my reaction is likely not what the publisher hoped for.
All the days of Summer
By Nancy Thayer
Due out May 2,2023
I absolutely loved the story. I felt something with every character.
The story mostly centers around Kailee and Heather.
Kaylee, although it is sweet girl was also an only child in a bit spoiled.
Heather is Kaylee’s boyfriend’s mother.
Although the story mostly centers around them, it is a heartfelt story about a young girl, trying to make her way in life. So in love with her boyfriend, Ross that it’s hard for her to except that Heather loves her son in a totally different way.
Heather and Kailee’s mother Evelyn become quick friends. Evelyn even asked her to come to work for her.
The story just has so much heart and so much love, but also grief. I don’t give spoilers when I do my reviews and it’s very hard right now. Because I’d like to tell you everything about this amazing book. It is definitely a must read. I very highly recommend it!
I received this ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.
I have read many of Nancy Thayer’s amazing books, and this one just might be my favorite, if it is possible to have a favorite since they are all excellent.
Heather and Wall are meeting their son, Ross for dinner along with his girlfriend, Kailee, who they feel will someday be their daughter in-law. Ross and Kailee met at college and Heather admits she did not exactly like Kailee when she first met her at a college football game, however, she is willing to give her a chance, since her son loves Kailee.
Upon graduation, it had always been the plan for Ross to work in their family-owned hardware store with his Dad. Ross and Kailee have different plans, and Ross is not only is planning to spend Christmas in Nantucket with Kailee’s family, but upon graduation, they are both going to move to Nantucket and work for Kailee’s dad in his extraordinarily successful construction business.
As if that news is not startling enough, Heather decided to divorce Wall. She admits she does not like him much and certainly does not love him anymore. Her best friend convinces her to get away for the summer and knows of a small cabin in Nantucket for rent at a reasonable price and convinces Heather it will be just the place for her to get away and regroup. The rental agreement was made months before she knew Ross and Kailee would be spending the summer there also. Kailee believes Heather is there to spy on them.
This is a fascinating story with an interesting cast of characters. Once I started reading, I could not stop and read it clear to the end. Many unexpected events occur and as Heather is adjusting to her new life she gets involved in local activities and makes new friends on the island. Kailee continues to be suspicious of why Heather is there, however, does attempt to be more reasonable about it since it is Ross’s mother.
This is a delightful, heartfelt story, which includes family drama at its finest.
