Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and MIRA for access to this ARC in exchange for honest feedback.
I enjoyed Allison Brennan’s thriller immensely. When I finished is when I realized it was over 400 pages long — which is definitely on the long side for a book of this genre, I think. I read it in one sitting because it was gripping and engaging, and it didn’t feel long at all.
The character development is done meaningfully, and Brennan takes the time to develop complex relationships between characters, as well, which I loved. Her descriptions of crime scenes and settings are extremely detailed without ever being redundant or dragging on.
I also didn’t realize this was 4th in a series — I didn’t know about the series before I got the ARC. I liked it enough that I want to check out the previous 3.
Brennan doesn’t shy away from discussing complex issues that arise in the politics and day to day life of rural American towns, and the consequences of being far-removed, under-resourced, and feeling neglected or forgotten. Her representation of the deep mistrust that people in small towns often feel for outsiders is masterfully written.
Review: Seven Girls Gone
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m definitely in the post-vacation blues. We were in Canada skiing for a week and I felt so free riding down the mountain without a worry in the world. Now, back to real life 😩
I read this one on the trip. I received this ARC from @netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I think one of the main problems is that this was a series and I jumped in on book four. There were a LOT of characters, which confused me, and I didn’t feel invested.
As the title implies, it is about girls who went missing in a bayou town in Louisiana. I liked the premise, I just wanted to crave finding the solution and I didn’t. I would still pick up another book from this author, but I might try a stand-alone next time. Thank you @netgalley and @_mira_books_ for the ARC.
I have read everything Allison Brennan has ever written and love them all. This was a little gruesome but still enjoyed the book and found it to be a great page turner. Thanks for the opportunity
This series gets better every new book!!
Kara Quinn is such a unique character and I absolutely love how far she’s come. Her instincts are spot on and her undercover work is top notch.
The Deep South is the setting for corruption and greed. A small town cop is overwhelmed with the death of several women and more. Beau Herbert is fighting a loosing battle. He asks for help from his old military buddy who is now a FBI agent and part of the Mobile Response Team.
Matt Costa is the head of there unit.Matt and Kara’s relationship has slowly progressed into something more.
We should want the same thing here, Chief. Justice for those women. Putting a killer in prison. I don’t want to do this without your help, without your blessing. But if you leave me no choice, I will.”
This story was fast paced and the twists and turns were not at all expected. Just goes to show you that a great author can still surprise you and keep you guessing even after so many books.
An amazing story by Allison Brennan. Girls have gone missing but how do you ever find out what happened when the town has dirty cops and thee are no rules. Then in steps Kara Quinn to investigate and it won’t be easy, no one is safe.
This is going to take you on such a ride right to the end and you’ll never see what’s coming.
Excellent, fast paced, deadly
Thank you #NetGelley. #MIRA. For this ARC

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was probably my Favorite Quinn and Costa book. I loved the atmosphere, I loved that we got to know more of the characters. I loved the story. There isn't much I didn't enjoy about this book.
Allison did a great job from beginning to end on this one.
Seven Girls Gone is full of twists and turns that I am thrilled to have read as an ARC. I highly recommend adding this to your list!
Seven Girls Gone is the fourth book in the Quinn & Costa series, but can easily be read as a stand alone novel. The book is pretty much divided between Quinn and Hebert having the largest roles/storylines. St. Augustine, LA is a small town that is filled with corruption and a police force that seems bent on looking the other way. Hebert has several dead young women and no one seems to be interested in looking at their cases. Luckily Hebert has a close friend that is currently an FBI agent. The FBI come to town and answers will follow. The book is a longer read but flows well with a quick pace. I love Allison Brennan books and this one doesn't disappoint either.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #Harlequin Trade Publishing for the ARC book to read/review.
Seven Girls Gone by Allison Brennan is book #4 in the Quinn & Costa series. I think each book in this series is excellent and this one certainly upholds that tag. This is an exciting, fast-paced, heart-stopping suspense story with just the right amount of tension to make you keep turning the pages. Kara Quinn, FBI Response Team Leader Matt Costa and the rest of the team have their hands full with this case. I really like these characters. They feel like old friends, friends one can always count on. I really like Ms. Brennan's voice and I look forward to the next book in the series.
Seven Girls Gone by Allison Brennan due to be published April 25 2023 is the fourth book in the Quinn & Costa series.
Kara and Matt investigates the case of seven girls who have gone missing after they were at the Magnolia Inn. Some of the bodies end up in the bayou. They start suspecting corruption in higher places. This was an overall good book. I really enjoyed the pace I got through it really quickly even there is a lot of pages. This was the first book I’ve read in this series but I’ve read other books from the author and just love her writing style.
I will definitely be reading more of her work in the near future.
Thank you Netgalley, Allison Brennan and Harlequin Trade publishing for allowing me the opportunity to read an Arc and to leave my free review !
I loved this book. It was exciting and made me want more!! A true and definite 4 star read for me! 10/10 recommend this to all!
This one had great reviews and I was excited to read it, but I couldn't get into it. There were WAY to many characters and I couldn't keep them all straight. I made it about 50% of the way through before I decided to DNF.
totally loved this book. Have read all in the series and each is better and better. Love the characters of Kara and Matt and looking forward to the next
While this is the fourth book in the series, it was my first. It took me a while to get into it, and to be able to keep all the characters straight. Perhaps starting at the beginning of the series would help with this. It was an engaging mystery, with interesting characters and lots of corruption. I enjoyed the setting of the Bayou, which ends up becoming like a character in itself. If you enjoy mysteries, check this one out!
Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Allison Brennan for this ARC.
What a great series and these books can be read alone but you get more background on the characters when you start from the beginning. I have really enjoyed this series from the start to the finished. I jumped in and started to read this book as soon as I received my copy. Brennan really know how to pull you in and capture your interest in what case that Quinn and Costa with their team try to solve. I highly recommend that you pick up and start to read this series, you won't regret it. Michael gets a call from a good friend, Beau down in Louisiana who is in trouble. Michael and Quinn fly right down to help him and find out that Beau believes that for the last three years seven girls have disappeared and are all connected. His problem is that the police department is corrupt, and he doesn’t have concrete evidence to connect all of these killings. Michael has faith and believes Beau, so Costas calls in his team and they start to investigate. In the meantime, Kara goes undercover to see what she can find out before the suspects and police realize that she is a cop. Can Quinn and Costa find out what is happening and help Beau connect all of these killings and keep everyone safe. I highly recommend this read!
Seven Girls Gone is the third book in the Quinn and Costa series. I have read the second book, but not the first, and I was happy that this time around some of the team was left back in DC. In the last book I felt a little lost with so many team members to keep track of, but in Seven Girls Gone we get more in depth character development. Set in small town Louisiana, a local detective calls his Navy buddy Michael, who is now on the FBI Mobile Team, when he is in over his head with way too many murders and up against drug dealers, corrupt police, and an incompetent/possibly corrupt medical examiner. The town is rich with sweet old ladies, ruthless drug dealers and girls caught up in the sex trade because life in a small, rural community has dealt them a crappy hand. Oh and don't forget the alligators! A little slow at times, but the ending is satisfying and I look forward to the next entry in the series.
This fast paced thriller has it all; murder, disappearances, drugs, prostitution, corrupt law enforcement, .... you name it. I couldn't put it down.
This is the second book that I've read in the series, and is set not too long after the events in The Wrong Victim. This time the team is in Louisiana looking into the murder and disappearances of 7 girls. As in the previous book, Quinn uses her undercover skills and street smarts to discover more information that points them in the right direction, while Costa and the rest of the team take a more traditional route. Catherine Jones was mostly absent from this book, which was too bad, but perhaps she'll be back in the next book.

Women have been turning up dead in the small town of St. Augustine, Louisiana for three years. Detective Hebert seems to be the only one in his department who cares, but every lead he finds is squashed. With no help from inside his own department Hebert turns to his friend on the FBI Mobile Response Team. With them on board Hebert might have a chance at finally solving this case. Will he be able to end the corruption on his team and solve these murders before its too late for everyone involved?
This is the fourth in the Quinn & Costa thriller series, and it was pretty good. I enjoyed the pacing on this one which was good because it comes in at about 450 pages which for me is long, especially for a thriller. This was my first book in this series, but I enjoyed it a lot. I think this series is one that you can enjoy the books as a stand-alone and won’t be too lost. This book is full of plot twists and turns, and the ending – YES! I enjoyed the suspense in this one, it kept me engaged and on edge. I did find there to be many characters, and at time I struggled with that aspect.
Overall, this is a solid read and I implore you to check it out April 25th!
