This was a fun read! Memory Lane is about a woman who moved to Islehaven, which is a fictional remote island off the coast of Maine, after a traumatic event and a man who was spotted floating in the Atlantic Ocean with a head injury. The girl, Remy, nurses the boy, Jeremiah, back to health. To make things more complicated, there was no identification of him, nor did he have any memories. I found the reason for his placeholder name hilarious. Jonah, by the way. It's explained in the book, thankfully, for readers who might not understand the biblical reference. I just love how the author doesn't instantly assume that everyone reads the Bible. ANYWAY, readers are then soon whisked into a mystery plotline, as his identity has been found, and he has to find out why he ended up falling into the sea with multiple injuries.

This story has both romance and mystery, and they blended so well. The mystery aspect was well written, and I also loved the main characters, Jeremiah Camden and Remy Reed. And it's not just them. I also loved the side characters, such as Wendell, Leigh, Fiona and Jude. This story is written in multi 3rd-person POV, allowing us to dive into the heads of other characters, namely Fiona and Jude, apart from the main two. I like how we can see Fiona’s POV and how she reacts to her own precious son losing his memories and forgetting her, wondering how much of her son was still her son 💔 I think the story did a great job with the topic of amnesia. I can't wait for Book 2 in this series, which stars Jude. There are some bits in this book that preludes the events in the second book.

Memory Lane started out with Remy as the main character, but now I think Jeremiah is the main "main" character if you get what I mean. Everything basically revolves around him, and I'm not complaining. The whole Alexis murder mystery was only related to him, and it was such a good mystery storyline. Remy is still an important character! She's not there to complement Jeremiah at all. She's a great character in her own right. I loved her arc with Wendell. I loved how she grew in the story as well. She learned to see things through a different lens. That's not easy. She faced her trauma. And it's actually sweet how Jeremiah respected her decisions. He was willing to wait. That's not easy.

The plot twist blew my mind. When it was revealed who killed Alexis, I screamed. I did NOT see that coming. That's one of the reasons why I thought the mystery part of the story was so well written. I got so invested in finding who Alexis' murderer was. I didn't like Alexis that much because of what she did, but I loved Jeremiah's view on how he would've divorced her but wouldn't have wanted her dead. It just made so much sense! And it showed what a decent human being Jeremiah was.

Even though this is a Christian romance, there isn't much Christianity written in this book. It doesn't shove religion down your throat, so people should read this book! It's a very well-written story, and it's one of my favourite reads in February 2023. Some people don't like religious stories, so I'm just going to say it's okay here. It did talk a bit about God, but it hit so hard. When you face trauma and hardship, it makes you question your religion. It makes you question the things you believe in. That's what's so realistic about this book. The book also ends with a Bible quote, and I like it. It's something God said, but it also sounds so romantic. I mean, it does if you picture someone saying it without the Christian context. I just liked how that line put this story to a neat close.

Great writing. I can't emphasise this enough. I recommend this book to people who love romance with a mystery storyline alongside it!

P.S. I LOVE this cover. It's so pretty <3

Memory Lane by Becky Wade
This is my first read by Becky Wade and I loved it. I do always love a good amnesia love story. This book was beautifully written taking heavy topics and showing that hope can conquer fear and past hurts. I loved the characters and their development through the story. She also set up the next book in this series so well and I can't wait to read Jude's story.

Trigger warning-this book discusses nonconsensual sex

Murder, mystery, & romance!

Based on the cover (which is gorgeous), this looks like an adorable rom-com, but it’s much more than that. In many ways, it reminded me of a Hallmark mystery—without being cheesy & with more romance.

Anyways, I loved the characters! Remy was
relatable and all around lovely. J— (I’m not telling you the MMC’s name because that’s part of the mystery) initially struck me as a bit of jerk, but given the circumstances, his behaviour was understandable in a sense. And he grew on me in the best of ways! Plus, J— and Remy had great chemistry, despite all the problems along the way. Although, their physical attraction was a bit heavy for my personal taste.

I absolutely loved Leigh & Wendell along with their respective relationships with Remy. And JUDE! He was amazing, and I loved his interactions with J—. I am so excited for his story next!

There were several POVs & plot lines. At the beginning, I wasn’t totally sure what was going on, but it was fascinating how it all came together in the end.

I’m pretty sure this is the first story I’ve read with the amnesia trope. It was well done, and the mystery wasn’t cheesy or over the top. I was gripped with intrigue right till the end and pleasantly surprised that my suspicions proved correct.

A fun read for those who enjoy small coastal settings, murder mysteries, sweet romance, and light faith elements!

Content: hypnotherapy is performed as a treatment for amnesia; a plot line dealing with the fact that a woman being r*ped in the past & the trauma she deals with because of it; mentions of affairs; pretty intense physical attraction; alcohol consumption

I'm a big fan of all of Wade's books, so it was a no-brainer that I would pick up Memory Lane. This book has lots of fun aspects--amnesia, grumpy/sunshine leads, mystery, and scandal--and while I did enjoy the story, it's not my favorite by Wade.

Oddly enough, I think my favorite thing about this book is the setting. Islehaven Island is remote and rustic, but it has the sort of wildness that gives a person space and brings about a sense of wonder. It's easy to see why Remy would choose the island for her place to escape and serve as a place to inspire her woodworking. It's also tiny enough to create that small-town feel among the locals, all of whom serve two or three roles on the island, and even though we don't spend a lot of time with the island's other residents, they seem like an awesome bunch.

Remy and Jeremiah were good leads, but there was just something that kept me from really connecting with either of them. Wade does a good job of introducing each character and building up their pasts, particularly Jeremiah, which makes sense as we're learning about him as he's recovering his memories. There's a lot of trauma in both Remy and Jeremiah's pasts, and Wade handles the situations delicately while still making clear how those events have affected current motivations and actions. However, I feel like Remy's background seemed a bit vague; I understand that she had a pretty normal life up until everything changed, but it seemed more like her storyline was missing rather than downplayed for its ordinariness. Jeremiah, on the other hand, has all the star quality, and while opposites do often attract, I didn't always buy the attraction between him and Remy.

All that said, I really enjoyed seeing Jeremiah slowly regain his memories and working with Jude, his brother, and Remy to solve the mystery that his memories slowly revealed. I'm assuming Jude will be the star of the next book, and I'm looking forward to reading that. The ending had a nice twist, although I actually called it fairly early on, and things ended with almost all the threads neatly tied up. Unlike Wade's other books, the faith of the characters didn't play as much of a role in the story, and maybe that's what makes this book feel a little off to me, although that may make it appeal to a wider audience.

Overall, Memory Lane is a fun romance filled with witty banter, an intriguing mystery, and careful handling of some really heavy topics. Although it's not my favorite by Wade, I'm still looking forward to book 2 in the series.

Remy rescues a man from the ocean and finds that he doesn’t know who he is. She takes him in, and together they work to solve a mystery.

I really liked this one! It was both cute and gritty.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this early!

Becky Wade is one of my favorites, and I didn't realize she had a new book releasing so early into 2023. When I stumbled upon this on NetGalley, I was instantly intrigued, and was extremely thankful when I got approved to advance read it.

Memory Lane is definitely a change from Becky's usual style of writing, and it felt like a fresh breath of air. The synopsis was intriguing, but it honestly failed to due this beautiful story justice, and while there was a lot going on within the pages of this one, it came together as a well written, wonderful romance mystery that kept me glued to the pages.

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a couple as much as I did Remy and Jeremiah. They were downright adorable, and honestly, Becky is pretty much a master at writing the enemies to lovers trope. What starts out as a begrudging friendship soon turns into something much more, and I loved how both characters have to overcome a lot before they can find their own way into happily ever after.

A couple of extra POV's are thrown in for good measure, and it made the story seem that much more enticing, as I tried to fit all pieces of the story together with the numerous characters telling their version of the details. When an author can tell a story from numerous POV's and keep it from becoming confusing to the reader that in my opinion is a definite sign that an author is an extremely talented storyteller. That was definitely the case here, and I think it proves that this author can truly tackle any type of story she so chooses too.

All in all, this was a wonderful and swoon worthy romance that tackles many deep issues, and sets up the start to a new series beautifully. I did have two complaints which I do want to quickly mention.

Firstly, I personally thought the conclusion to the mystery was a little obvious and I'd pieced it together quite a bit before the final reveal. However, I did still really enjoy the fact that this wasn't a simple romance, and I loved the way the mystery was deeply entwined with the rest of the story.

And secondly, considering Becky's other novels have always included a strong faith element, I was disappointed with the lack thereof in this one. God and faith are mentioned, but really only in passing, and at the end of the story I was still unclear as to whether Jeremiah and Remy were truly Christians or not.

However, I did still love it, and it's one of my favorite reads of the year so far.

Final Rating: 5/5.

I'd highly recommend this one, and I can't wait to continue on with the series in the future.

Thanks so much Becky Wade for allowing me to advance read and review this one!

I normally don't like to tell people what to do, but go buy this book now! I absolutely loved Memory Lane by Becky Wade. It seriously has it all- great characters, suspense, romance, interesting secondary characters, perfect pacing and Jeremiah - I seriously loved everything about him.

I thought, based on the cover, that this story would be a light fun read. While there was definitely some excellent and fun banter between Remy and Jeremiah, it was definitely heavier than I expected, but somehow, even with the heavier topics, not too heavy. I loved Jeremiah and Remy together. He was so patient and kind and understanding with her struggles. I did feel like, a time or two, she was a bit too mean to Jeremiah, but overall, I understood her fears. The amnesia/mystery aspect of this story was really good and kept me guessing until the end. I also loved Jude and cannot wait to read his story!

I highly recommend Memory Lane! When I finished, I immediately wanted to start it over again, mostly because of Jeremiah! I am so looking forward to Jude's story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. I also purchased my own copy. All opinions are my own. The faith thread it light. 5 stars.

This book was better than I expected…. It was a page turner, had different POV’s which is great for character build up, since this is the beginning of a series. I loved the mystery that unravels when it comes to Jeremiah. Now that was CRAZY!! I loved their love, Remy snd Jeremiah were amazing. I haven’t read a Christian romance novel before, I will read more from this author.

In this book by Becky Wade we meet Remy who has set a scheduled life for herself in a cabin on a secluded island in Maine. Shortly after we meet Remy, she finds a man floating in the water outside her home. As she cares for him and begins to help him recover his life we get a glimpse of who they were before they met and how they can overcome the things in their lives they want to change. The message of God’s unfailing love is woven in to this story. I am interested in the continuation of this story in book 2.

Rating: 3/5
Tropes: amnesia, opposites attract,
Content Warnings: Brief description of SA in the past

After a traumatic event, Remy moves to live on an island off the coast of Maine. She lives a simple life in a surrounded by nature and working as a wood sculptor. One day she spots a man floating in the ocean in front of her cottage and rescues him with the help of her EMT friend. Unfortunately, he doesn't know who he is and suffers from amnesia. Remy takes it upon herself to take care of him and witty banter ensue! Now she has a handsome man in bad condition in her peaceful life, and he's cranky, which contrasts with his lazy charm.

This was a fun and lively story with great characters and an interesting storyline. Though the random POVs pulled me away from the story a little.

This was a fun contemporary romance, the beginning of a new series. Becky Wade has long been a strong voice in the Christian fiction world of contemporary romance and this one is sure to be another hit! Remy is all kinds of quirky, seeking safety in the solitude of Islehaven, an Island off the coast of Maine. But when she spots a man overboard with her binoculars and goes out to rescue him, her entire world gets upended. I had assumed that the mystery would basically be who the man was as he doesn't remember who he is when he regains consciousness, but when that was determined in the first 3rd of the book, the mystery element became much more intense - to the point that I was on the edge of my seat towards the end when the mystery was solved and am setting aside my thriller that I was picking up next in order to get something a bit more "tame". The romance element was also a bit more intense than I prefer - to the point of feeling stalker-ish to me at times, but there was a lot of fun banter woven in to reduce that intensity some, and the faith thread was also solid in this one. All in all, this was an enjoyable read and I would recommend to fans of contemporary romance. I look forward to the next books in the series! Special thanks to the author and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this book. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.

i received this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

this story was unique and enjoyable. remy saves jonah from the sea when she sees him from her workspace. after suffering a blow to the head, remy concludes that jonah has amnesia and cannot remember anything about his life before the accident. when jonah’s health deteriorates and requires medical attention, remy and jonah both go to the mainland to go to the hospital. at their arrival, jonah - now jeremiah - is reunited with family members, but cannot remember any of them.

the storyline of this novel was really interesting and was a lot more than a romance! however, i did find some parts to be quite random and didn’t integrate into the story quite so clearly. that aside, it was thoroughly enjoyable and i really liked the dynamics.

This is my new favorite Becky Wade book. I was pretty sure I was gonna enjoy it, but I didn't expect just how much! I quickly became absorbed in it. These characters really came to life and occupied my mind even when I had to set the book aside for "real life". In fact, I'm still thinking about them.

The beginning was very exciting. I was immediately invested in figuring out who the mystery man was and what happened to him. Sometimes the amnesia trope can be hokey and unrealistic, but it was done really well here. Remy and Jeremiah were such great characters. They were complete opposites, so you can just imagine the sparks! Their banter was hilarious and their chemistry was off the charts!

I loved the setting of Islehaven. There was something so special about the island. It was remote but had such a charm about it. And the residents were great too. As much as I loved the island, I also enjoyed heading to the mainland and meeting the people there too.

While this book had its funny and cute moments, it was so much more. It had a lot of depth too. Serious subjects were broached and handled with care.

I can't recommend this book highly enough. I loved every second of it and didn't want it to end. I'm so excited for the sequel.

I received an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this! A mysterious man is rescued from the sea by a reclusive artist living on a small island in Maine. He has no recollection of his name, his life or what he was doing before he almost died, but he has some obvious signs of a struggle and very few clues as to what his life was. CUE THE DRAMATIC MUSIC.

I enjoyed the premise and the setting immensely in this book. The mystery around Jonah [as they name him for lack of knowing his real name] keeps the story moving forward, and I found myself constantly changing my suspicion of "whodunnit." I came to really love Jonah, as well as our female protagonist, Remy. She has a story that is heartbreaking, and the care and attention to a full story arc was really nicely done. I loved the supporting cast and look forward to what I can assume will be a sequel, based on how some of the characters were set up. 4 stars for a lovely tromp through the wilds of Maine that left me feeling cozy and happy to have not had to do all the tromping that happened in the book, tyvm.

Many thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy of this e-book, in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the beginning of the book - it immediately caught my interest with "Jonah's" amnesia and with the mystery of how he ended up in the water. I liked the progression of his healing and how he and Remy did not like each other, but how that began to grow into something more. I also enjoyed the mystery of looking for Alexis's killer. I do feel like the addition of the Marilyn plot was unnecessary; Wendall was a good character to have, but looking for Marilyn seemed like just a random thing to keep the plot moving, but wasn't actually needed to keep it moving in my opinion. I was also confused about the addition of Fiona and Jude's POV sections. I understand Jude will have his own story next, but I honestly didn't care at all about Fiona's POV and the few of Jude's there were could also have been left out and I would have still been interested in his story in the next book. The writing was really well done and I really liked Jeremiah and Remy. I do wish the Christian aspect had been more fleshed out. I couldn't decide if they were actually Christians or just "spiritual" and went on Christmas/Easter to feel good about themselves. There were hints of it being more, especially since Remy felt like God had turned His back on her, but I wish there had just been more when she did come back to Him.

I will be posting on Goodreads and IG (@cartfullofbooks). I plan to post on the pub date (Feb 14) to celebrate the release.

Wasn't at all what I expected but still enjoyed it for most part: didn't expect such a heavy romance book when deciding to read this! I got an ARC from netgalley and the publisher. Didn't like all the religion in it, it was too much for me and was off putting. But loved the love story and their chemistry was great just wish we saw more of them together and less of the family esp his mothers parts lol

When Remy spots a man in the ocean outside her remote island home in Maine, she takes him and helps nurse him back to health. He struggles to remember who he is and where he’s from, which leads to some complications and then unexpected surprises as his identity is at last revealed. I appreciated that his identity was revealed about 25% of the way through the story, giving the reader time to get to know his true name and identity and start to slowly put the pieces together about how he ended up stranded in the ocean with no boat in sight off the coast of Maine.

What starts out as a forced proximity situation with a reclusive artist nursing a mysterious handsome stranger back to health develops into a beautiful relationship between two people who are figuring out how to live again after the challenges they’ve each faced in their lives.

This was a slow burn story with a great romance as well as a great mystery/suspense storyline. Becky Wade is such a master at weaving intrigue and mystery into a compelling story with characters who have simmering tension and chemistry. As the mystery becomes more complex and more tangled, the stakes are escalating and the risks begin to extend beyond what this couple could be willing to give.

This romance unfolded slowly, giving us time to get acquainted with Remy, her delightful lobster woman neighbor Leigh, her washed up mystery man and soon enough his complex family tree. I love getting to know Remy and Jeremiah and I’m eager to read more about Jude in his own story down the road!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Becky Wade for an advanced readers copy of this story, all opinions are my own. There’s a reason I’ve read all of Becky’s books, because she always writes compelling stories and characters that tug on the heartstrings and have me rooting for them from start to finish. The conclusion of this story was a gripping ending that had me on the edge of my seat!

Read this if you love:

💙 forgotten identity
💙 family history
💙 healing after trauma
💙 supportive friends and family

Content: brief and vague description of past sexual assault, learning to trust in romance again, mysterious crime including a death of a spouse, wholesome romance

This book was so good. It hooks you on the first page and doesn't let go. It's well written and full of emotions. Remy and Jeremiah's story has just enough mystery, suspense and romance to keep you turning the pages.
This is a great start to a new series.

I love Becky Wade and cannot wait to read anything she puts out. I found this book to be so different from what she has been publishing lately, but is still a great read. There has been trauma in the past for Remy and she has isolated herself on an island, but I love the way that Jeremiah slowly pulled her out of her shell and how patient he was with her. One of the best male main characters that I have read in a long time. The ending was a surprise that I did not see coming. Once again, a great read!
