I am a fan of anything that Sarah Young creates and Jesus Calling Advent and Christmas Prayers is no different. Jesus Calling Advent and Christmas Prayers tells the Christmas Story in an engaging way to kids that's interactive with Prayers and other sayings that make you think about what you have read. There are also Bible references that correspond with what has been read. It is beautifully illustrated. I highly recommend Jesus Calling Advent and Christmas Prayers by Sarah Young! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.

Christmas story with cute pictures. Not really sure about the prayers included, but told the story simply.

This sweet book with lovely full-color illustrations tells the story of the birth of Jesus. For each day of Advent, a short prayer is included, fitting in with the story. I like this as an Advent calendar for children and guardians or siblings to share together. This book brings out the true meaning of Christmas amongst all the other aspects of the season that are vying for one's attention.

Thanks for the opportunity to review this book. I received it from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions here are all my own.

If you are searching for a way to share Advent with your little one, then Jesus Calling Advent & Christmas Prayers by Sarah Young is the perfect choice. Geared for children ages 0 to 4, this simple retelling brings you and your child on a journey through the book of Isaiah, into the Gospels of Luke and John, and ends with the wonderful gift found in 2 Corinthians.

Along the way, artist Katya Longhi brings the story to life with her stunning artwork in soft and warm colors. Pastel yellow circles throughout the pages offer 25 short prayers to encourage daily prayer time and to help you and your child celebrate the birth of God’s greatest gift to the world.

Everything about Jesus Calling Advent & Christmas Prayers is wonderful, beautiful, and touching. Young, who passed away earlier this year, was a well-known name in Christian publishing. Reading this book for little ones, it’s easy to see why.

Highly recommended!

Jesus Calling Advent and Christmas Prayers by Sarah Young it is a simple retelling of the Christmas story, that small and young kids will easily be able to understand. The illustration are colorful and beautiful, adding much to the story. Each page also provides Biblical references for where in the Bible you can read more about that particular part of the Christmas story and each page has one, two or three prayers prompts for the 25 days leading up to the most wonderful time of the year - Birth of Jesus.
The first time I showed this book to my son, he was very excited and he couldn't wait to read his 25 prayers, but we decided together that every day we will read, when bedtime comes, a prayer until Christmas.
This book it's a wonderful book which fits perfectly to small children, younger children but from my point of view, it fits perfectly to adults. For me it was a real pleasure to read the 25 prayers. After reading about this author I found out that he still have an Jesus Calling Easter Prayers: The Easter Bible Story for Kids, which I would love to read in this days.
I think this is a good book to start knowing the Bible, especially fot he little ones who quickly lose patience if you were to read whole chapters. Simple enough to understand, but still with an important message. I was thinking about something crazy these days...to create gift cards with these prayers for each day until Christmas (25 days). These gift cards you can put on the child's desk, on the refrigerator for those in the house, or you can give them to the loved one (mom and dad, boyfriend or girlfriend, husband and wife, grandparents, even to the most important friends in your life. It would be a really great idea. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a solid Biblically based Christmas for young children and small kids.
Thank you to NetGallery and Thomas Nelson: CHILDREN'S for the temporary ARC that I received in return for my honest review.

Jesus Calling Advent and Christmas Prayers has cute illustrations and retells the story of the incarnation of Christ. I liked that scripture references are included and prayers for children. If used for Advent, it would be hard to only read one page each day.
Generally, Jesus Calling isn't something I would recommend because of the manner in which it puts words into God's mouth by saying He specifically said things and because of the way in which the author has explained how she writes (through automatic writing).

From GotQuestions.org...
"Young may be sincere in her desire to encourage believers, but putting words in Jesus’ mouth is always dangerous. Claiming to speak for God is the same as taking the mantle of prophetess. God has already spoken. He designed that we hear Him in His Word, the Bible, which is the only authoritative book. Young yearned for something more than God’s inspired Word, and that yearning is the faulty premise for the book Jesus Calling."

This book doesn't seem to include any of the usual Jesus Calling language but be a simplified retelling of the Nativity Story.

Jesus Calling, Advent and Christmas Prayers is a wonderful book for young Christian children. It is a simple retelling of the Christmas story, that young children will easily be able to understand. The illustrations are beautiful, adding much to the story. Throughout the book are 25 one line prayers based on scripture (i.e. God, thank you for loving me no matter what I do. God, help me to do whatever you want. God, I am safe with you. Jesus, You are the best Christmas present ever.) I think I will use the 25 prayers and print them out and make an advent calendar with them that can be opened alongside their chocolate ones, to remind them of the reason for the season. This is a great book for a family library that can be read many times over. I did not read this one to my grandkids yet, I am saving it until it is closer to Christmas.
