The Visionaries delves into the lives of Hannah Arendt, Simone de Beauvoir, Ayn Rand, and Simone Weil from 1933-1943 and compares and contrasts them through their philosophies, upbringing, and nationalities during a time period that is often considered tumultuous. Each of these women were exceptional in their own way and Eilenberger doesn't fall prey to reflecting their lives through the men they were surrounded by and often overshadowed by while still using their relationships to show how everything that you do/are/are with intersects and reflects upon your thinking and creating. While this book was dense and took a while to read, it's a good introduction to these women, especially Simone Weil, as she's often overlooked in this arena. The book flowed well, however I did find it a bit confusing at some of the transitions as to who was being featured in the chapter, but overall a good read.
