This is the third book in the Beck Sisters series but worked very well as a stand-alone book for me. So happy for that as I did not know this book was part of a series.

Carla Black is a world traveler. She doesn't believe in relationships and lives for the moment. When she needs money, she works as a bartender. She seems carefree but her father, Biggie has dementia, and she is dealing with this internally. When she heads to Dublin for her best friend’s wedding, she meets the groom's brother, Eamon Sullivan cartographer who creates digital maps.

They instantly hit it off and soon are off on an adventure with them some exploring on the way to wedding venture. It's a journey that both are on, learning more about each other along the way.

I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narration. This added to my enjoyment of the book. I found this to be a nicely paced book. It was escapism reading/listening to me. I enjoyed the story and appreciated how the author dealt with Biggie's cognitive impairment. I shed a few tears along the way.

Overall, this was an enjoyable book that had me both smiling and shedding tears.

Wonderful book with fantastic narration.

This was the first Trish Doller book I have read, and I feel like I might have missed something by skipping the Beck Sisters' books #1 and #2, but I still really enjoyed getting lost in this story!

I was surprised by how fast this story escalated. The opposite of a slow burn, this one jumps right into the action and the romance. It was a little too fast-paced for me; I personally prefer more of a buildup. The story overall felt rushed, but I really enjoyed getting to know the MC and hearing about her backstory was very telling and symbolic.

I enjoyed that the MC was a SFL who blows away expectations with her mechanical knowledge, and I really loved the dementia representation of this book. Our main character ultimately loses her father to dementia, which alone is near-and-dear to my heart (as my grandmother had dementia), and she fears running out of time. The rushed pace of the story can be compared to the way our MC rushes through life, and I thought that was an interesting theme throughout the book.It was sad, but in a hopeful whats-next/healing kind-of-way.

Thoroughly enjoyed the book, and finished it in under a day!!

To begin, I want to preface this review with the fact that I didn't know that this book was part of a series when I listened to it on audio. However, it made perfect sense as a standalone. I even loved it so much, I now went back and started the first book in the series!

So, onto Off the Map!

Carla Black is a seasonal bartender in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Her father, Biggie, has been diagnosed with dementia so Carla is avoiding going home. She travels the world with her earnings in her beat up Jeep Wrangler that was passed down to her from her father. Carla's best friend Anna (from book one- The Float Plan), is getting married in Ireland and Carla is the maid of honor. She is flying to Ireland and the best man (the groom's brother) is supposed to be picking her up at the airport. Instead, they decide to meet up at a pub. He is her ride to the wedding in a few days. They are supposed to go straight to the town where the wedding takes place but Eamon has a hankering for adventure and Carla is happy to oblige. Carla and Eamon go camping in the mountains, go four-wheeling in his old series 3 Land Rover, and go to a surf festival. Over the span of their adventures, they fall in love but don't quite admit it to each other.

I absolutely loved this story and devoured it in two days worth of listening on a road trip. I am definitely looking into more Trish Doller books!

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

Okay, so this book for me is a 3.5 close to a 4 but not a full 4.

This is a very cute story about self discovery for both characters. To be honest I didn't like Carla that much, but I got her story and her struggle.

Now for Eamon, I kind of wanted more maybe a dual POV so we could see his thoughts too.

Story is very fast pace, what I didn't like is that it was a little inconsiderate of them to do their own adventure knowing there was a wedding to happen and they had to arrive a certain day.

Thank you so much NetGally for the arc of this book.

Off The Map by Trish Doller is book 3 in her series, but you don't have to read the previous books to read this one. Carla Black’s life motto is “here for a good time, not for a long time.” She’s been travelling the world on her own in her vintage Jeep Wrangler for nearly a decade, stopping only long enough to replenish her adventure fund. She doesn’t do love and she doesn’t ever go home. Of course, anyone with a Jeep Wrangler has got to be a great character, right?

Carla and Eaman meet in Dublin to drive to a wedding together in Tralee. She is the Maid of honor and he is the best man. They meet in a pub where they then shortly end up at Eaman's place, doing the mattress mambo. (Trigger warning.. there are open door scenes in this one) She tells him that she doesn't do relationships. Then they get in Eaman's SUV and start the drive to the wedding, only to realize Eaman was secretly wanting adventures like Carla has had. So they make a detour, and of course, they can't keep their hands off each other the whole journey. I feel like it was Insta-lust at first site with those two. I didn't feel like there was a build up in their relationship. The "spark" just wasn't there. They end up stuck for a night at some farm and eventually make it to the wedding. There were a few funny, adventurous parts (like the bull), and they did have some good banter occasionally. I kept reading in hopes it would pick up or something big would happen. I really wanted to like this because I connected with Carla at first. She drives a cool Jeep Wrangler, she loves adventure, and she didn't seem to need a man. But then we basically get beat over the head with her thoughts on how she can't have a relationship and it got a bit repetitive.

Carla didn't want a relationship because of her father. She called her dad Big E. He had dementia and didn't want her to see him so she stayed away for years. He played a large part in her thoughts on relationships. I feel like it came together too late. I enjoyed the last few chapters. The characters really developed in the end, but were almost annoying up until the end.

This might not have been the book for me. I don't enjoy when couples fall into insta-lust and every other scene is a sex scene with little build up into a relationship. I like a little drama to keep me engaged, but the bull (even though it was funny) and rescuing a kitten just didn't do it for me. This did touch on the topic of dementia, but only in broad terms. This just isn't my type of romance. But I listened on audio and did enjoy the accents. I haven't read her two previous books, but I had heard they were well liked. If you are a fan of open door romance and a little insta-lust, this might be for you.

What a lovely story! The characters have an immediate connection that felt real. Carla and Eammon are relatable and likable. I felt the emotional connection that Carla had with her dad. This book has made me want to travel.

I was very excited to get an Advanced Listeners Copy of this book, because I absolutely loved Float Plan, and it is one of my all-time favorites. This book started out well and I was very into it until about halfway through. It just became predictable and I started to lose interest. I audibly gasped when Carla revealed how long it had been since she’d been home. I felt like that didn’t align with everything she had said about her relationship with her dad.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but Keane is still my favorite Sullivan brother!
I thoroughly enjoyed the narrator!

I really enjoyed this book. Carla lives life like there’s no tomorrow! When she meets Eamon on the way to her best friend's wedding sparks fly and the two set off on an adventure that pulls at the heartstrings and gets steamy fast! Thank you Netgalley and Macmillan audio for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

I devoured this audiobook in a day and loved every minute!

This is a wonderful series for people with a travel bug and Off The Map did not disappoint. The Suite Spot missed the mark a bit for me, but Off The Map brought me right back to loving this series and ready for another.

One thing I love so much about this series is that every book can be read totally on their own. We heard a lot from Anna and Keane - as our protagonist was the MOH in their wedding - but you really didn't need to be familiar with Float Plan to fall in love.

Carla and Eamon have an easy relationship and I loved that they went off the beaten path in Ireland to explore. I could've used for more imagery and details about the countryside but Doller did a great job in the very limited space she used to paint a beautiful picture. There were humorous parts (the bull!) and in typical Beck Sisters fashion, there were serious parts touching on real issues and emotions.

Admittedly, I had a hard time connecting to Carla and being on board with her and Eamon's selfishness putting their own plans ahead of Anna and Keane's wedding. Carla just may have been one of the worst MOH ever!!! But Anna didn't mind, so I guess all is well!

Overall, this was an awesome read, the audio was stellar (loved the narrator!), and if you're looking for a quick romance with some substance, you've come to the right place.

Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin, MacMillan Audio, and NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Cute, feel good read. I think the most important thing to take away from it is to not wait to do what you want in life because you never know how much time you have.

4.5/5

I love this series so damn much! Each book has captivated me in some way and I just adore the authors style. I thought this was the sexiest of the series and maybe that’s because Carla and Eamon hook up pretty quickly but I wasn’t mad about it 😉 I’m not usually a fan of insta love but it kind of worked for me here, I think that’s because I believed in the connection between the two instantly myself. If you like books with romance, adventure, a grief element and humor this was really good. The audio narration by Sarah Naughton was amazing too, she brought Carla’s energy and passion to life so perfectly!

I didn’t realize that this was part of a series, and you definitely don’t need to read the first two to enjoy this…as I didn’t. I definitely want to go back and read the first two now! This goes a little deeper than your typical romcom, as Carla’s dad is suffering from dementia. I feel like the romance portion was a little fast on the attraction with Carla and Eamon, and so therefore their relationship doesn’t have quite as much depth as I would have liked. But their adventures were fun, and I found myself smiling often. I definitely understand Carla’s hesitation for a relationship. I really loved her friendship with Anna, and Stella, her stepmom. Overall, it was a great read.

I received an audio copy and really enjoyed the narrator. She was quite enjoyable to listen to, and did a great Irish accent….which added to the fun of the book.

Bottom Line: Read it.

**I received a copy of Off the Map from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are of my own.**

Thank you @stmartinspress, for this gifted copy and @macmillan.audio for the complimentary audiobook.

I loved Float Plan by Trish Doller, so I was excited to jump into another one of her books. You get travel and adventure in her books, but be prepared to have your heart tugged at too.

Carla Black is a free spirit, traveling the world whenever she can. When she arrives in Dublin, Ireland, for her best friend's wedding, she is greeted by Eamon Sullivan, the best man.

Yep, you guessed it - before heading to the wedding Carla and Eamon hook up. But they have the best adventures as Carla talks Eamon into showing her parts of Ireland even Eamon has never seen. What seems like a fun road trip turns into a mix-mash of great scenery, hot sex, and a whole lot of feelings to unpack.

But just when Carla thinks she may have found a reason to stay in one place, she knows she has to go home to her dad before he no longer remembers who she is.

I loved listening to the audiobook for this one; the narration was terrific, and you can’t beat an Irish accent, right? Carla and Eamon make a great pair, full of adventure and energy. And the more serious topics help remind us to live life while there’s living to be done.

I love books set in Ireland, and this one is packed with fun adventures but also real emotions of Carla staying unattached emotionally due to her mom walking out on her as a child and her father not always recognizing her due to Alzheimers. It has a solid daddy-daughter line and a momma's boy relationship when it comes to Eamon. The narrator did an excellent job. It was a little too steamy for me and bizarre that they hooked up so fast. I rate it 3.5 stars

This was the perfect escape! Easy breezy romance in the Scottish countryside. The man was perfect, the woman was able to do anything, and together they made each other Very happy while they lived in the moment! I was not expecting so many intimate details of their love life, so that was a surprise.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to enjoy this audiobook!

So the good first: I liked the narrator. Her cadence and voice were superb.
The not-so-good: I really dislike a romance that starts off within the first 8% with the couple sleeping together. I lost interest immediately after that and found myself not caring about either of the main characters, A real bummer. I've appreciated aspects of Trish Doller's work in the past, but this one was a miss. The premise was adorable, i just couldn't get past the brazenness of the meet-cute and immediate rush to sleep together.

Off the Map by Trish Doller is Book #3 in the "Beck Sisters" Contemporary Romance Series!

Carla Black travels the world in her Jeep, avoids serious relationships, and never returns home - all out of choice.

Eamon Sullivan is a digital cartographer who seems to have lost his way after getting dumped - not out of choice.

When these two strangers meet up in Dublin for a wedding, sparks fly, and their chemistry is 'off-the-map'...

Off the Map has the 'Insta-Bed-Buddies' trope which isn't my view of romance, resulting in a tough start. The door is wide open here, folks, and remains that way for the entire book. This isn't how the first two books were written, so yeah, I'm surprised.

The characters of Carla and Eamon did grow on me though. I enjoyed listening to their playful banter, and I understood their serious, complicated sides once their backstories were explained. Their individual family dynamics give noticeable texture to the story and reveal the uniqueness and differences between the Black and Sullivan family structures.

The topic of Alzheimer's is handled realistically and with sensitivity in this story. It brought back memories of my mother's long battle with this dreadful, debilitating decease and how heavily it impacts the family and main caregivers. I cried a bucket of tears at the end.

I was fortunate to be gifted a DRC and an ALC of this book allowing me the pleasure of reading while listening. The audiobook was narrated by Sarah Naughton whose voicing range is enjoyable and her Irish accent is quite authentic. She narrates all three books in this series.

Although Off the Map isn't my favorite of this series, I did enjoy pieces, and parts, the connection between Carla and Eamon, and I do recommend it to all who love Rom-Com's with the door wide open. Although each book is a standalone story, I recommend reading this series in order for the best experience.

3.5 stars!

Let's call this one another case of not having the right expectations.

I have not read anything by Trish Doller before, but had seen her Beck Sisters series around, so I made sure to write down the first book to read sometime later. When I saw Off the Map to request on Netgalley and realized that the books can be read as standalones, I requested it. It seemed cute! Loved the travel aspect, and the synopsis sounded like a fun read.

While the travel aspect was true, this was less a cutesy, fun, light read, and more of a romance-heavy read with a good dash of women's fiction near the end. There were at least 4 open door (graphic) romance scenes, I believe? And they are concentrated towards the beginning.

So, as you can probably tell, most of my lack of enjoyment comes from the insta-love, "one-night stand" vibes of the book (except it's like a "one-week stand." There are many stands. Too many stands for me). The romance focus is definitely something to keep in mind before reading.

Aside from that, or likely because of that, we don't get a lot of the meaty part of the story until the last third or so of the book. Because Carla is obsessed with Eamon from the beginning, all of their adventures and travels take a back seat. I wanted more focus on the land and the sights, etc.

We do get slices of Carla's personality and upbringing, as she is fairly blunt with Eamon about her past. You learn where her personality and worldview comes from, and see why she struggles with loving others. Eamon is mildly developed the whole time, but seeing as he is undergoing a change in priorities and life goals for pretty much the whole book, I was okay with less depth from him.

But it's not until the last bit of the book that we really dig deep into Carla's fears, wants, and grief. I, personally, really enjoyed this part of the book and was much more invested in it than with her relationship with Eamon. Carla is truly a well-developed, strong character!

So, all-in-all, if you're looking for sweeter romance or more consistent focus on the travel (that airy, fun vibe the cover and synopsis give), then this is probably not the right choice. I would recommend this book to those looking for heavy romance with the backdrop of Ireland, with a splash of slower women's fic at the end.

I loved this book so much! I actually read it in a day, I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read all three in this series, and I liked them all, but this is by far my favorite. :-) the narration is fun and engaging, and the two narrators mesh well together, It takes place in Ireland, and I’m the characters are the brother and best friend of the leads in Float Plan. There is a fun tie-in, but this is also excellent as a stand-alone read. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun and light rom-com.

A road trip in Ireland? Yes, please! I think Off the Map might be my favourite in this series. It’s been so long since I’ve read a road trip book and I loved this one! Carla and Eamon were fun to read about and I like how she opened Eamon’s eyes to how he could be living with her case free, adventurous spirit. I loved how it didn’t follow the typical story line most romance novels seem to have these days. I love the way Trish Doller writes her characters. I wish this book had been a little longer as some parts felt a little rushed, in particular, Carla going home to see her dad, the wedding.

Sarah Naughton did a wonderful job narrating the audio for this book.
