I am not sure I can say enough nice things about this book. I loved it so much. It was so close to my perfect romance novel.
This is the story of Carla, a woman who loves to travel and see the world because of the wanderlust her father instilled in her. She travels to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding and she meeting up with the best man, who just so happens to be extremely hot and the grooms brother. The two of them hit it off right away and things get steamy fast.
This book is full of heart, laughs, spicy (really good spice), some tears and lots of swooning. My only complaint is I am not a huge fan instalust or love within a short time of knowing someone but this book won me over and I ultimately did not care at all.
Please do yourself a favor and read this book!
The audiobook was spectacular and I loved the narrators Irish accent.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc of the audiobook.
This one was good. It had all the right components. Good wiriting, conflict and a solid character journey. I enjoyed the audiobook narrator’s voice. This was definitely an instalove with a clear internal struggle by the heroine. She’s a world traveler never settling down because she might get attached and make connections. She makes a connection with the hero while traveling to a wedding in Ireland. Her dad has Alzheimer’s disease and she’s been avoiding dealing with those feelings. This book was pretty good, but dragged a little bit in the middle. It was a kind of a somber story, so maybe that’s why. Big thanks to Netgalley and the audiobook publisher for allowing me to listen and review this book.
This book was so fun! I read it in one sitting. Carla and Eamon were great together and the Insta love of their story really worked. All of their antics were fun and it was nice seeing Anna and Keane from Float Plan again! 100% will be picking up a paperback copy once the book is released.
This was such an adorable story. You guys know how much I love travel romances and this book set in Ireland met every single expectation. Carla is an adventurous girl who works in the restaurant business for a few months of the year so that she can spend the rest of it traveling the world in her Jeep. When she goes to Ireland to be the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding, she finds herself going on wild adventures with the best man.
This book is full of spontaneity and makes me wish that I had it in me to live like these people. We got to explore all over the beautiful country of Ireland while falling in love with these characters. Eamon is a beautiful, kind, and overall PERFECT Irishman who surprises Carla at every turn. They each had problems finding love until they found each other and everything fell into place as if it were always meant to be.
Like all books, there are many hurdles these characters have to jump through--some bigger than others. Regardless, this was a wild journey and it brought these characters exactly where they needed to be. Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for a copy of this wonderful book in exchange for an honest review. And thank you Trish Doller for combining all of my favorite things--romance and travel.

Just imagine what it would be like to travel the world. Where would you go? For Carla Black the answer would be everywhere. Raised by a single father, Carla grew up travelling the road in her dad’s Jeep wrangler, and this is something she continued as an adult. The lone traveller, Carla worked only as long as she needed to earn enough to support her next adventure. So, when she went to Ireland for her friend’s wedding, Carla was surprised to find someone who she enjoyed spending time with. Eamon Sullivan, the best man, was not only attractive but also wanted to go on adventures himself.
The audiobook of Off the Map, narrated by Sarah Naughton was a lot of fun. Sarah is able to present various characters making each one unique. Her voice is lovely to listen to keeping it interesting. The story is also fun. Lots of banter between characters, love of family and friends, and a bit of spicy romance to round it all off. All making this an audiobook/book I would easily recommend.
Many thanks to NetGalley and MacmillanAudio for the opportunity to listen and review this advance release audiobook.
Carla was built for adventure. She works to travel and lives by specific travel rules. Traveling to Ireland for her best friend's wedding, she meets Eamon, best man and older brother of the groom. Together they embark on hilarious adventures that bring to be light healing for both of them.
A companion to Trish Doller's _Float Plan_, it was fun to revisit Anna and Keane but it wouldn't be necessary to read the first book to get this one. It was a cute story with some high comedy moments.

I cried because the book ended. I loved it so much. I’ve loved this series; Float Plan, The Suite Spot, and Off the Map. Seeing characters from Float Plan and the traveling whimsically elements from Float Plan are heavy and EVERYTHING I wanted in Off the Map.
Absolutely obsessed with Eamon growing a pair and taking the long way to Keane and Anna’s wedding. Eamon is Keane’s brother (Float Plan) and Carla is BFF’s with Anna (Float Plan main character). As always with Trish Doller the characters grow emotionally as individuals and this book is no different. Chefs Kiss.
The audiobook was fantastic and her Irish accent for the brothers was perfect. Truly enjoyed!
Off the Map is a cute romance story that will definitely bring a tear to your eye. The story follows Carla who is traveling to Ireland for her best friend's wedding. Carla is supposed to be picked up by the best man Eamon but they end up meeting at a bar instead. They are just supposed to drive across Ireland to the wedding, nothing more, but they both get so much more.
Carla is struggling the whole story. She doesn't want to find someone and settle down despite how Eamon makes her feel. Her dad is struggling with dementia and she doesn't want to do that to anyone so she shuts out most people. Carla’s dad “Biggie” didn’t want Carla to see his health deteriorate so he told her to keep traveling the world. It took her six years before she finally went home.
I am fortunate to not have to be dealing with this with a parent. It blew my mind that she loves her dad so much but can go so long without seeing him. Her relationship with her dad shaped her entire life. All I wanted was for Carla to go home to her dad and be happy. She was convinced she couldn’t have both. All I wanted was for her to have both and I felt there was a way.
I did not expect where the story went and it definitely got me to tear up. It had excellent writing and strong characters. I definitely recommend this one.
Hooooly hot, this book starts off with an absolute BANG! And doesn’t slow down!!
The audiobook version was great! Loved those Irish accents! This is such an easy read! If you are looking for a hot feel good romance, be sure to pick this one up!
Off to find the other 2 books in this series!
A traveling rom-com that was a pretty good time.
I was skeptical in the beginning when the main characters got to gether so quickly, I wondered where it could possibly go at this point but it was fun and had some unexpected depth with self discovery and growth.
Although it looms lime this is part of a series, I wasn't missing any information to be able to enjoy this book.
My first Trish Doller, this can easily be read as a standalone. I really enjoyed the narrator and she handled the different accents great, especially Eamon, who sounds swoon-worthy here.
SPOILERS AHEAD
I love a good meet cute and this one involves a "kiss me quick for fake reasons" which is always delightful 😍 so I was immediately invested. However, it was around here that I realized it was first person present, which I hate. Luckily, I got over that pretty quickly because Eamon tells her "Just so you know I'm going to kiss you again, but this time I'm going to mean it." uggghhh 🥵🫠
But then, kapow! Dad is dealing with dementia, which feels a lot like surprise cancer, here. His diagnosis, decline and ultimate death are huge heavy parts of this otherwise dizzy fun romp of a book. I was getting emotional whiplash trying to find the tone of this book when I realized to my horror maybe this was ... chick lit? 😩😮 Be advised that this book can get very heavy, dealing with taking care of an ill parent, and then dealing with their subsequent death. If you're looking for a 100% romance, this ain't it.
The writing is funny when it's in madcap romp mode, Eamon is a complete cinnamon dreamboat to the point that Carla is asking him through the book "why aren't you married?" and we all have to wonder because yeah, he was heavenly.
DO NOT be fooled by the cutesy cover, this book is very steamy and they are fucking at the 11% mark like whoa hang on, didn't you guys just meet earlier today? But this is Carla's MO, she's a love-em and leave-em kinda modern gal. Little does she know Eamon is going to be positively irresistible. The sex scenes are on-page and pretty hot, am I crushing on Eamon? Yes, yes I ammmm.
Carla has a pretty great transformation arc, going from terrified of commitment after being abandoned by her mom very young, to falling and committing to Eamon. I only wish he had a bigger arc, because we don't get too much backstory on him.
All in all, I really enjoyed the romance plot. I cried in a few parts, I was so moved. I loved the road trip hijinx and I really like this author's voice.
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I have absolutely loved the other two books in the Beck Sisters series by Trish Doller, so Off the Map was definitely one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Unfortunately though, it wasn’t so much my cup of tea—it was beautifully written and I LOVED the characters, but the insta-love trope just doesn’t work that well for me. Carla Black is a massive traveler who comes to Ireland for her best friend Anna’s wedding (from Float Plan so the cameos were wonderful). Eamon, Keane’s brother, meets her in Dublin to drive her to the wedding and after sparks fly, the two take on some detours for a trip neither will ever forget. The writing is sexy and emotional and heartwarming and I was rooting for these two the whole way through. Carla’s father is suffering from dementia and has encouraged her to keep on traveling like they always have together so the trips are as much an adventure as they are an escape from her pain. It is heartbreaking what she goes through in terms of the emotional struggle and she’s such a beautiful character. Eamon too is looking to break free of his family’s expeditions and wants his own adventure. He’s caring and romantic and very sweet. But I think this book lacked the vulnerability the others in the series had. So while this was much steamier than the others, it just didn’t hit the mark for me. The insta-love made them lose the foundational aspects that made The Suite Spot one of my top reads of 2022. Still, the backdrop of Ireland was beautifully depicted, the emotions were honest and lovely, and I loved getting to see some old favorites again. I did enjoy Off the Map, I just wanted more out of it. But on the note of the narrator, I absolutely loved her reading of this novel
Carla does not like being tied down and she is determined to only stop and work for money to fuel her travels. Her dad suffers from dementia and she worries that if she lets anyone else in she will lose them as well. When she goes to Dublin for her best friends wedding, she meets Eamon, the grooms brother and best-man, who she has a fling with while traveling to the wedding venue. Carla tries to run away from love, but will she be able to leave Eamon?
I loved the narration of this and the wanderlust vibes. Carla handled a family member having dementia like lots of others would and it is a good example of what you are missing out on if you do not address the feelings. Overall a good, quick listen!
Thank you, Net Galley, for an audio ARC of Off the Map by Trish Doller. This is the third installment of the Beck Sisters series. I can't even tell you what I feel because it's all over the map, and it's all good. This is going to be one of my faves for the year. Listening to this book? This is the way I want to feel every day. There is definitely going to be a reread situation going on!
This book has an identity crisis. Is it Carla & Eaemon shag their way across Ireland? Or is it Carla finds a way to stop running away from her emotions? The first 2/3 of this book was so very different from the first two in the series. Where is the slow burn? The character development? There were so many spicy scenes I finally just started using the Fast Forward button on my phone. I almost quit, but wanted to have Carla get to Anna's wedding. That was a satisfying piece of the book, although quite small considering. The last 1/3 of the book was delightful. Loved seeing Carla connect with her father and the ending of the book was just wonderful.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for an audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first book by Trish Doller and, although, I know this part of a series of books I didn’t feel like I couldn’t follow this story as a stand-alone.
Let me just start by saying any book in Scotland or Ireland is a win for me… I mean I am sure there are some I won’t like but a man with a brogue is a favorite of mine!
The easiness of the friendship (and more) between Carla and Eamon sets you up to root for them from the very beginning. I love the adventures they take on the way to the wedding, the bull 😂, all of it! They were fun and entertaining.
The way the more serious parts were woven in was great and definitely tugged on the heart strings. I love the friendship between Anna and Carla is a great one and makes me want to read the book about Anna and Keane next. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more books from Trish and so appreciate getting to read (and listen) to this one before it’s release.
Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC and audio ARC
I’ve enjoyed the Beck sisters series, but must admit, this is my favorite. It was a lovely, fun, smart, witty, romantic, emotional listen with a wonderful cast of characters. Carla may not have had the most conventional childhood after her mother left she and her beloved dad, but it was filled with adventure and a lot of love. As an adult she is finally learning to deal with some of the emotional scars, learning to open her heart to love, finally deciding to put down some roots and against her dads wishes, spending some amazing time with him as he slides into dementia. Its truly a wonderful literal and figurative journey to Carla opening her heart and mind to love. And wait until you meet Eamon! And not sappy at all. This is going on my favorites of 2023.
This was a cute book that followed a similar trope as the first two in this series (which I am not complaining about). Loved the setting, finding oneself, and romance (steamy). Trish Doller does a good job of creating bite sized romances with the perfect backdrops.
This was a quick listen! I’m a huge fan of Trish Dollar’s book and was excited to get approved early for Off The Map! I will be honest the first half of the story I wasn’t really into… when the second half hit I was more invested and then once I completed the story came full circle. And I really enjoyed and appreciated the parts I wasn’t into in the beginning because of the ending. Haha I hope that makes sense. Family is always a huge theme in her books and I loved the added adventure and oh my the steamy scenes in this one!
3.5 ⭐️ rounded to a 4!
This story is a beautiful journey of closure, forgiveness, finding oneself, and love.
I really wanted to be head over heels for this story, but something was just off for me. I’m not a huge fan of the instalove trope because i feel like it’s a bit cheesy and isn’t believable, but our MCs definitely hit it off almost immediately.
While i found this enjoyable and a quick read. It wasn’t very memorable. Definitely check trigger warnings before reading, as this story deals with some tough topics of parent illness/death.
