A cute romantic comedy at times that was a fun adventure that felt with the curve balls life throws at you but it does not mean you should give up on what you want. Sometimes it just might take longer. This book had the right amount of swoon to where I would still recommend it to older ones.

Thank you to #NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. The book is written well but really wasn’t for me. I do not wish to read/listen to any others in the series.

In Off the Map one of the first things I loved were the Easter Eggs for Float Plan. The world and character network Doller has created feels homey, nostalgic, and charming all at once. And Off the Map is no exception. It's full of swooning, of characters who want to deny their own feelings, and humans who need a bit of a reminder about what's important. Carla's journey is one of trying to figure out who we want to spend time. To forget about all the things we think we 'should' do, or feel, and instead follow our heart. The narration for Off the Map was fabulous. You can hear all the feelings and fears that Sasha is trying to bury in Sarah Noughton's narration. It's one of the reasons that this book absolutely flew by.

Trish Doller is so good at creating characters who feel real and have interiority. This isn't her best novel, but it hits every mark I wanted from her.

4.5 stars

This book is my first by Trish Doller. The cover is super cute, and I am so happy I picked it up. I was not expecting the spice, but I was pleasantly surprised by it when it happened. The beginning of this book was very slow, and personally the main character's emotions toward love were very off putting. However, about 35-40% though the book it picked up and I really started to connect with the characters, understand their emotions and what they were going through, and I fell in love with this story. The representation of Alzheimer's in this book is amazing, and it brought tears to my eyes to learn about Carla's dad and how he found happiness despite his disease. My favorite part of this book was the reconnection of Carla and her father, Biggie! I did enjoy that Carla learned how worthy of love she was, and that Eamon was there for her in so many ways. I loved the Dublin scenes and all the information about travelling and exploring. This truly was a fantastic novel, and I will definitely be picking up more by Trish Doller in the future!

I first discovered author Trish Dollar when I read Float Plan, and I love how books find you right when you need them. As a book that had themes of grief and overcoming loss to suicide, I felt a strong connection to the story, and have added Trish to a list of favorite authors ever since.

OFF THE MAP features a woman named Carla Black who is now in her thirties and looking for the adventure in her life to travel the world. I both read and listened to the audiobook format, and really enjoyed this adventurous romance.

Off the Map follows Carla, a woman who lives her life to the fullest at every opportunity and Eamon who has always taken the safe route and needs a little adventure in his life. This book is a bit insta-love for me but I think at the beginning they are just what the other person is looking for that it makes sense. Someone who wants adventure but can't quite find the excuse to jump start that part of his life and someone who only knows the adventurer life looking for a reason to stay settled without guilt. This book has all the makings of a romance book I would love, the one bed trope, strong minded female character who actually has a backstory, and a European leading man but I found myself not as swoony as I hoped I'd be. They know from the beginning that they are only together for a short time and yet the feelings happen so fast but again I'm not the biggest insta-love girl.

To me the ending of the book felt a little rushed. Without giving too much away ... I know that the characters getting together was really going to be hard given the circumstances but with how it happened felt a little forced. I know why it happened the way it did but I just wanted there to be more resolution without having to give up or lose so much.

Overall, I recommend this book to anyone who is struck with wanderlust looking for romance. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and review the story!

Do you ever just want a really emotionally romance read? Because sometimes I get in this mind space where I desperately want to read a book where someone is going through something hard, but I know that at the end, they're going to have love and are going to be okay. And that is precisely the mood I would recommend picking up Off the Map in.

Carla is Anna's best friend and she flies to Ireland to be there for Anna's wedding. Eamon picks her up at a local pub and the two have this pretty immediate spark of connection, but Carla is incredibly opposed to getting into a relationship and Eamon is definitely still getting over his ex. But like, in a weird way. (His continual bringing up of his ex is the only reason this book is a 4 star and not a 5 star.) Anyway, Carla and Eamon turn out to have quite a lot in common. But Carla's also dealing with the fact that her dad, Biggie, is suffering from dementia and he's told her that she's not to come home because he doesn't want her to deal with him at the end of his life. Carla and Eamon wind up talking about so much while taking the very long way to Anna and Keenan's wedding and they have all of these incredible adventures and just get to know one another so well.

I really love Doller's writing. I love the way this book handles grief and longing and just... having people come into your life at both the exact perfect moment and at what also feels like not quite the right time. I love the way it considers people pleasing and so close to everything about it. I need to read book two in this series, but I'm already anxious to see what Doller writes next.

Carla Black, divides her time bartending and traveling the world. Raised by a single father, Carla learned to keep only the bare essentials. She use travel as a means of healing a broken heart and lives by the motto ‘not here for a longtime, but here for a good time’. Her life is turned upside down when she encounters, Eamon Sullivan. The two have a whirlwind romance in Ireland. Sadly, their time together is cut short when Carla must return home to help care for her ailing father. Will Carla learn to find happiness in one place, or is she destined to keep running?

I had the pleasure of both reading and listening to this as an audiobook. Both formats were amazing and I would highly recommend picking up a copy and/or listening to it today!

I loved this book! It was heartfelt, bittersweet, and had wonderfully realistic characters. I've read Doller's YA books and will definitely read additional adult titles by her. Highly recommend!

It’s funny how sometimes you read a book and it hits really close to home. Which is also why it’s taken me a while to write this review, even though I thoroughly enjoyed this book that was one of my most anticipated books for 2023.

Off the Map is a cute, heartwarming story about Carla and Eamon and their epic - though fairly short - road trip through Ireland. They have an adorable meet cute at a Dublin pub, followed by the footloose and fancy-free Carla coaxing the responsible Eamon to toss aside their direct route for an indirect path filled with adventures.

Once again, as she did with Float Plan, the author created a fantastic story about lovable and relatable characters who learn as much about each other as they do about themselves. I spent the majority of this book with a goofy smile on my face, and I loved every minute of it. As someone who loves a road trip and taking the path less traveled, I loved reading Carla and Eamon’s adventures and mishaps.

Their relationship was also a delight to read. I love a story where a couple falls in love so effortlessly, and things aren’t all dramatic and angsty even though their path to happily ever after takes a bit of a detour. I love mature couples who talk things through and give each other space to do the things they need to do. I’ve loved all of the characters in this series, but I think Carla and Eamon are the most fun.

But Off the Map wasn’t all fun times and barrels of laughs. Ms. Dollar, once again, throws in a modicum of heartbreak, this time dealing with the heroine’s relationship with her dad. I don’t want to go too much into that storyline - I try to be as spoiler free as possible. But it’s the part of the book that was very relatable to what I was going through with my own dad at the time. And even though it was an entirely different situation, I had many of the same feelings as Carla, which added extra depth to my reading experience.

Float Plan is still my favorite book of this series, but I really, really liked Off the Map as well. I can’t wait to read whatever is next from Ms. Dollar!

PS the audiobook of this story is also fantastic -Sarah Naughton does a great job with the narration!

Carla lives by the phrase “here for a good time, not for a long time” and spends her days traveling the world in her old Jeep Wrangler. When she travels to Dublin for her best friend’s wedding, she is picked up from the airport by Eamon, a friend of the groom who is currently feeling lost in life. What should have been a direct trip across Ireland to get to the wedding turns into an adventure filled with unexpected detours and even more unexpected feelings.

One thing I love about reading Trish Doller’s books is the adventure they take you on. All three books in the Beck Sisters series allow you to travel through the pages, and the adventure through the Irish countryside in Off the Map was the perfect setting for this story. Trish also has a beautiful way of writing about finding love in the midst of healing. The stories she creates are filled with heart and emotion. Carla and Eamon’s love story was so fun to watch. The chemistry was pretty instant and this book was very steamy from pretty early on. I also adored Carla’s relationship with her dad. The stories of wanderlust and sense of adventure he fostered in her from a young age were a huge part of her identity. Seeing her slowly come to terms with his dementia diagnosis was heartbreaking. That story line in particular made this book so special.

I adored the audio. Sarah Naughton narrated the story with so much heart and the emotion this book needed.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the advance copies.

Trish Doller's contemporary romance Off the Map is the third installment in the Beck Sisters series. It's the first book I've read from this author. The story follows Carla Black as she journeys to Ireland for her friend's wedding. There she meets the groom's brother Eamon Sullivan and sparks immediately fly. Soon the two are road tripping together and Carla is reconsidering her no-relationships stance.

Readers who love road trip romances, books about Ireland, and low-conflict stories will find a lot to enjoy in this story. The protagonists

For my personal taste, I wanted more conflict and tension in the plot itself. Most problems felt easily solved and the characters getting along well from the start and sleeping together quickly left little tension in their dynamic. It also put a sour taste in my mouth that a portion of their initial bonding was over mutually bashing the hero's last girlfriend. Terrible exes of all genders exist, but it didn't feel good to have the heroine blowing off arriving on time for her friend's wedding prep while also bashing her love interest's last partner.

I did enjoy the narration of the audiobook, though would've loved an even stronger Irish accent from the hero.

Overall, I'd read more from Doller even though this particularly book wasn't for me.

The audiobook gets a 4.25 from me, rounded up to 5 stars here.

Trish Doller is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me. I've loved each + every one of her books, and Off the Map hit just the same!

I was given early access to the audiobook of Off the Map, and it was FANTASTIC. Sometimes I struggle to connect with characters if I'm listening to a book (I prefer to read it first + then listen to the audio 🤣), but I didn't feel like that at all with this book.

The narrator did an amazing job with the accents (the Irish characters were *chefs kiss*).

This story with Carla + Eamon was nearly insta-love with so much adventure and so much shared between the two of them in such a short amount of time, I really felt their bond grow throughout the story. I also felt the heartbreak and joy, which are both tangible in Doller's previous books as well.

I'm excited to reread my paperback + tab it just like Float Plan and The Suite Spot. I highly recommend all 3 of these books!

Carla leads a pretty nomadic life returning to a home base only to work to replenish her living funds. Her best friend is getting married in Dublin and Eamon is tasked by the bride and groom to get her there. Carla’s free spirit encourages Eamon to evaluate his life as they choose the adventurous path to get to the wedding.

This book was such a delight! The adventures were fun and the sparks fly!

Carla’s summers of adventure sucked me in and made me dream of being able to work from the road. Off the Map was such a fun listen - Carla’s best friend is getting married in Ireland, and the best man, Eamon, is picking her up from the Dublin Airport.

Carla and Eamon’s adventures as they get sidetracked on the way to the wedding had me wistfully dreaming of being back in Ireland. Like when they camp in the Wicklow Mountains - when I visited Dublin we drove through the Wicklows. It was so beautiful with the blooming heather and wildflowers, that I pulled the car over to take photos and just enjoy the views. Once we got back on the road, we drove a little ways before we had to stop and wait for a flock of sheep to cross the road.

I will say, I loved the chemistry between Carla and Eamon, but the almost insta-love is not something I’m a fan of. While I believe you know who your person is as soon as you meet them, I don’t know that you can fall in love in under a week.

The ending had be bawling in my car - both sad tears and happy tears.

DNF. This one just wasn't for me. I I struggled with the FMC; she came across as selfish and shallow. Ifound the insta-love unbelievable and this was too steamy for my tastes.

Thanks to Macmillan Audio for my alc. All opinions here are my own.

At first, it was very difficult for me to relate to the main character. But as the story developed, I realized she was more complex and I grew to like her a little more. I do like the family dynamics that were explored as well as the friendships. By the end, I was rooting for a much deserved happy ending. Thank you Netgalley for this audio ARC.

Off the Map
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Genre: Romance
Author: Trish Doller
GR: 3.90

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Macmillan Audio and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: This is the third book in the series Beck Sisters. While it does loop prior characters, it could be read as a stand alone, however, for the best reader experience, I would read the series in order. I have read the prior two books, which expanded on the characters. Carla travels the world but decides to stay at home with her dad. She travels with Eamon to her best friend’s wedding in Ireland. The travel is full of ups, downs, and all kinds of sideways. Carla and her father, Biggie’s relationship was very heartwarming. So how does the story go?

The story is narrated in a dual POV. Carla is an adventurer at heart, is kind, and free spirited. Eamon is fiercely independent, loves his family, and is x. The characters were well fleshed out, had witty banter, chemistry, and were creatively woven. The author does a great job with the complicated backstories of our MCs, you feel a part of them, and get absolutely invested in their story. The author’s writing style is complex, swoony, steamy, humorous, and had me invested. While this is not a ‘Beck’ sister per say, she was deeply involved with the family and Eamon was the brother of Keenan, whom Anna is marrying. The author represents Alzheimer’s and Dementia with grace and realistically.

The narrator, Sarah Naughton, does a great job with the voice narration, and her Ireland accent is very authentic. I loved this whole series. Doller writes these funny, steamy, and heartwarming romances. I am now a Doller fan and will read anything she puts out. I highly recommend picking up this book and the other two, Float Plan and The Suite Spot, along with this one.

What a lovely story! I had no idea when I started Trish Doller's Off the Map that it was part of a series, and I promise that it works perfectly as a standalone... however, now I'm curious about the earlier books and I'm sure I'll be requesting them from my library!

Off the Map is so much fun. It starts out very lighthearted, but undertones of emotion pop up pretty much right away. I knew the feels were coming, and come they did! Filled with really lovely characters, I liked the powerful message Trish Doller is sending with this one. Marvelous.

I listened to the audio version which is beautifully performed by Sarah Naughton. Naughton does a wonderful job with the wide variety of accents.
